This is an awesome video. I have never successfully landed a backflip. I have tried many times. Your persistence is motivational. I am going to get back to practicing. Thank you and congratulations!
Stick with it my guy. It may feel impossible right now but trust me you'll thank yourself if you just stick by it and give it the necessary attention and respect it deserves.
@@Cayden321 Adimttedly, I have a gym near me, with spotters if available. I did land one alone, but lost focus and bumped my head on a soft mat part...that still spooked me to grabbing both knees by myself. I'm regaining form as of now, tight arm swing closer to chest and grabbing knees to aim them at ground from good height.
Thank you for the kind words man! I feel your pain. It's hard to move away from the mattress. I graduated onto grass. Felt a lot more comfortable and less scary than concrete. Subscribe for more
Brother, you are true inspiration for me. Today was my first day attempting backflips and the spotter was like man why you haven't got it yet 😂. It takes time to learn and I'm not used to it. I think I would takes few months too. Is that completely fine?
First of all, a fucking ten for not giving up even after when you landed on your neck, I would've quit right after that. Second, your power is really good and you could easily backflio higher if you focus more on going straight up. In a good backflip you should land in the same spot from where you took off, that way you maximize your height because instead off losing height by going too far from the spot from which you took off, you will use are your power in making height and landing the backflip easier. You can practice that by keeping you shoulders above your knees when you take off and by making sure that you lift your chest up. Furthermore if you improve this mistakes, you can definitely start thinking about standing full, since your power is really good.
No disrespect and congrats, but this is a dangerous way for people to learn. Certainly you needed better instruction and you should have had people supporting and spotting throughout the early stages. For the benefit of others that may try this, you started with really bad form. Tucking way too soon before is a recipe to land on your head. Even towards the end you are only powering through by built up muscle with marginally better technique. Don't even attempt without spotters until you can consistently do the setup properly with your hips and know how to swing up your arms to block and tuck at the correct time, and make it over. You need to setup high in the air with hips, and you were losing it all by travelling backwards and not letting your hips come through for the setup of the rotation. Your arms were blocking way too low even on the last one. You are in danger of landing on your head because of that, where with proper setup the worse is usually landing on your knees. If you ever want to learn a gaining back somersault you absolutely need to learn to do the setup properly as it is all in the hips coming through. One tip is that it is easier to jump off harder gym mats onto a softer crash mat although that will introduce a bit of a travel backwards, but it doesn't need to be the amount of travel that you did! But still possible like you showed off a soft mat, and that will make you find it even easier to go higher on a harder surface. It's great that everyone has phones they can record on these days to analyse their progress. So if you do, compare the position of your hips and arms to the people who do these moves very well. Hope you have learned all that in the 3 years since you posted this ;-)

Goodluck with your practice!
Wishing you all the success, we all will get there
I needed this. I'm stuck around the 4 min mark, hoping my fear will diminish further. This proves that it's doable.

I finally got it. I needed help with a gym spotter, but I can do it by myself now.
Nice dude I've been trying a backflip for 2 years and I still can't land it

it's good. Just gradually strive to be a bit more upright 🙂
Extend you hip upward while doing toe jump and do a tuck it. Do a vertical jump and make sure your chest don't go backward instead extend your hip

Wait did you arch arching helps you rotate faster
Tucking the knees in quicker is what helps the rotations boss
