It boggles my mind how wise and funny Trevor can be simultaneously.
The bit at the end made so much sense it’s like I can actually hear the bell of truth chiming.
The first part is very funny, like I was crying of laughter when he started speaking with french accent. But the last part? The last part was so simple and yet so powerful. THAT's the reason I really like Trevor Noah, his ability to explain complex issues in a very simple and basic way that leaves you wanting to give him a hug. (Also, the BTS videos are the best!!!)

I mean what he was saying is funny, but yeah the premise of it does kind of cast a undeserved bad light on the guy. I just tried looking it up when he mentioned to see if there was any explanation for this because it was a good point, but apparently the kid had just fallen from the floor above down the 15 feet to the level that he was on in the video. It doesn't explain if the neighbor was just outside when it happened or what, but somehow he managed to get a hold of the kid to prevent him from also climbing/falling/whatever over that level's ledge & continuing to fall. Apparently he had gotten a hold of the kid like right before it being described in one article as:
"The man, who has not been named, can be seen in the video grabbing the boy just before Mr Gassama arrived."
Then the neighbor guy was quoted as saying: "I didn't want to risk letting go of his hand, I preferred to move slowly." in reference to why he didn't climb over the balcony & then went on to say about Mr. Gassama (the guy climbing,): "When I arrived on my balcony, he was already climbing he was so fast."
So, what he said was still funny & the stories he read and/or segments he saw on it probably just didn't know that information at the time & therefore didn't mention any of that.

I think the guy who's holding the baby can't pull him up cause there's some kind of separation on the balcony (he's a neighbor) that you can see more clearly on the other floors. That' may be why he can't lift him up safely: he's on one side and the kid is on the other.

Black Sola - I thumbed it down because Trevor ragged in the neighbor for half the video based on the premise that he didn’t want to help the kid, instead of acknowledging that he was hindered by the balcony divider. I think this is the only video of his I’ve ever thumbs down’d. The guy he’s talking about who climbed the building to save the kid is amazing and deserves all the awards he was given.

I read a lot of comment in French and English that were calling him names saying that he was weak, useless and that if it was his kid he would have reacted differently even Trevor is mocking him let's put ourselves in this guy shoes for a sec everyone celebrating the Malian and mocking him at the same time, although he may have played the most important role in the story.
I watched him interviewed and they didn't show his face in fear of threats he recieved
The question in my mind is where is the parent? Surely this small child was not home alone... and how on earth did he come to be dangling in the first place?! Absolutely amazing save!

If you look closely to the video the kid is moving closer to the neighbor, because at the beginning is quite far from him... Tough kid !! But the guy can't hold him because there is a "cloison" a king of glass wall between the 2 balconies... that's why it's hard for him to grab the kid.....

One held the kid and couldn't really get to him. The other prepared for the kid to fall and try to catch him so he wouldn't be impaled on the fence.

A) Neighbor had a wall between him and the child, and was having to reach down and around in order to grab what is easily 30-40 lbs of weight that had a vice-like grip on the railing and probably would NOT let go (which is understandable). B) Do we know the physical health of the neighbor? You can't always tell to look at people if they've recently thrown out their back, or have an old injury that affects their ability to use an arm, etc.
That immigrant man is absolutely a hero; I am just hesitant to assume the neighbor was not also trying his best within his abilities.
