  • I think the O-ring was the culprit and not the rear main seal but we put one in it anyway.

    Thanks for the video. The job is actually not too bad on these 4.7 engines. I bought a 4Runner not to long ago. I think my only oil leak is from the valve cover. I’ll have to check her out and make sure it doesn’t have this issue. She has 330,000 miles on her. I like to ride her hard and put her up wet. Lol

    about to do this same job on my 2007 sequoia, thanks for the video. I wanna replace the transmission filter and put fresh fluid in it. it has 285k on it and people have told me that i shouldn't change the fluid. what do you think?

    • @ChristmanGarage
      @ChristmanGarage  2 роки тому +1

      I cut my teeth as a mechanic in a transmission shop and we serviced transmissions all day long with no issues. However over the years as transmissions have evolved I have heard horror stories of transmissions working and after a service they give trouble? so in my mind it wouldn't hurt a thing but there is that chance? Thanks for the comment

    Great video! Really the only one I can find covering this repair. Any idea how it would change for a 4wd Sequoia with the rear differential attached to the transmission? Thank you!

    • @ChristmanGarage
      @ChristmanGarage  Рік тому

      Just a transfer case behind the transmission and a front driveshaft if I had to guess probably not too bad these vehicles have a lot of space under them👍

      @@ChristmanGarage photos or it didn't happen. I know a lot of MASTER techs that work for dealerships, Fel Pro is the worst to use on a Toyota or anything that is not a GM engine. Fail-Pro works great on GM engines. I've seen it time and time again. You got LUCKY if that thing held up, but like I said pics or it didn't happen

Maybe I’m just lucky. I do value Master mechanics opinions especially the ones who work on only a specific vehicle all the time because they see it first hand!
