Man, I just got my '05 back from the dealer, had to have them do some stuff due to physical limitations, and they mentioned that there was some leaking around the oil filter. I wasn't gonna pay them $100 for an oil change, when I knew I'd be healed up soon, but seeing this vid has me wondering if this might be why that's leaking. Gonna be taking a look in a week or so, fingers crossed that it's just in need of an oil change and a new filter, but I'm SO appreciative that you put this out for us GX owners who do as much of our own work as we can.
Great Job !!!!! Feel confident to do mine on my Sequoia with 254k miles that is leaking from one of those seals or all of them. Might as well change them all like you did
The steel washer is OEM with the bolt. I don’t think it’s available separately from the dealer unless you purchased the bolt. The steel washer with the rubber seal in the center is actually a washer gasket for the VVT-I cam cap. But if it doesn’t leak that’s also good. Great video.
Very helpful video. Thank you. I recently purchased a gx470. What website do you use for viewing parts diagrams? Also, what websites do you recommend for buying parts? Thanks again.
Thank you. I will normally go between Amazon, Parts Geek, Lexus Parts Online or straight dealer on a google search. I go for the best price usually. Between those sites, they normally have what I need. Some dealerships sell parts on Amazon & E Bay so the shipping is cheaper.
How much oil was actually leaking for you to notice? I have a little oil leak on the front driver side right by the filter. There’s no puddles when I park up just a couple drops. I have an ‘07 with 217k miles. Things a champ
I had very little drops on the ground. Most of the oil was getting thrown onto the engine and headers while driving. The burnt oil smell was pissing me off. Thanks for watching.
Are the gx470 parts and this oil filter assembly the same part on a 4th gen 4runner? I need to get the assembly part, not the cooler piece. I over torq’d and cracked the oil sensor threads.
All the gaskets were flat and lost any ability to hold oil. Usually it's the figure 8 gasket. If you're going in there just replace them all. Thanks for watching.
@@nemanjabelos3888 I see. If you're dead set on a new one go factory and be prepared for the cost. I don't see the benefit of a new one for this specific part unless you see it's damaged.

Would you be able to supply the torque specs for the nuts and bolts? Great video!
Thanks for the tip with the little torch. My lx470 rubber seal was rock solid in the same area.
So glad it helped. Thanks for watching.
Great video and tips! Always a bonus when you get to use the mini torch. 🔥

Hi, Why is a coolant line attached or running through a oil filter? Thanks
The coolant runs through the adaptor to help cool the oil. It does not run through the oil filter. Thanks for watching.

I have not done a 4th gen runner so I can not say for sure.
Where exactly was leak coming from, figure 8 gasket or the big O ring, or washer?

@@ClassyTacos makes sense. Great video! I haven't found one more detailed. Thank you.
@@Kdawg101 thanks, I appreciate it.
Is there an option to buy new oil adopter or only seals and gaskets, I can’t seem to find new part for 09 gx470
There might be, what parts are you having issues finding. The seals I ordered where from a dealer. Check Lexus parts online. Thanks for watching.
@@ClassyTacos the whole assembly I found seals , but can’t find engine oil filter adapter, found one for tundra same engine not sure will it fit
