Even I got hit good by this low sweep.
God I love Gabriel as a character. A self righteous, zealous Angel who couldn’t even *CONCEIVE* being beaten by something that doesn’t even have a pulse, turned into a self reflective, independent warrior because he actually starts to *wonder* why he keeps losing. Our actions and how we affect him spurred him to change and act for *HIMSELF* instead of a God that he doesn’t even know is listening or not. Gianni does a great job of bringing Gabriel to life too, *especially here.* His monologue as you enter the boss chamber is some of my favorite dialogue in ANY game as the desperation, anger, and determination in his voice makes the room shake. And as the fight goes on, you realize it’s a mirror of your first encounter with him. In the first Gabriel fight, he starts confident, cocky even, almost insulted by the fact that you’re challenging him. But as he realizes you’re a threat, he *loses it completely,* because how could a “mere object” take down an ANGEL?! Here, it’s the opposite. Gabriel starts furiously, blinded by rage as he lashes out at you and screaming defiantly in challenge. When you hit his second phase, his tone completely changes. *He starts enjoying the fight.* He’s laughing, his comments are less blind and emotional. It’s as if Gabriel has regained control of himself. And when you finally defeat him, he is shaken by it sure, but he also somewhat relishes the idea that he’ll have to *try* and kill you. He’s relieved to taste his own blood, and almost appreciative of your efforts against him as he leaves. The entire idea of an Angel losing faith is such a cool concept to me, but the fact that Gabriel elevates farther and actually becomes *his own person*, finding himself through his defeat to you and acting against those who used him as a tool for his entire life, DESPITE KNOWING IT’LL KILL HIM EVENTUALLY. That is what makes him such a unique character in my eyes. I apologize for the massive rant, I just really love Gabriel’s arc and can’t wait to see what act 3 does with it. The title “Godfist Suicide” gives me some idea, but we’ll see!
Another possible reading on why he's relieved that he's bleeding - If he can bleed, then so can the council. An angel can be defeated by metal, and he's felt the proof of it. Gabriel getting a taste of what it feels like to be human, during act 1 he is prideful and believes that the idea of a machine could defeat him is impossible, then when he is beaten he is in total disbelief and is angry and during the act 2 he released all that rage at v1 and eventually becomes hysterical “what is this feeling?” so far Gabriel begins feeling what it’s like to be human to know that any moment death will claim one of them and it changes him, to once feel invincible only to be become vulnerable
I suck at this game so I was pretty proud of myself for beating him in only four try’s using a combo of the rocket and the rail guns drill mode. Really stellar fight and Giannis performance really is the cherry on top.
I like to imagine that there are people who discover Ultrakill through the memes, see how much the fandom makes fun of Gabriel, so they believe he's a pathetically easy boss fight Only to then play the game themselves and be annihilated by him
I am one of those people who found this game from memes and got it myself because i love these types of games. Gabriel is hard alright, took me about 10 restarts. But V2 took me way more restarts
the scenario part after the battle just... broke me, this game was only a dumb shooter at first but Hakita literally made it one of the doom like game with the best lore
Seriously, the only words that could pass me before he slammed his fist on the organ was “Uhh… Gabe?” Also, gotta love how you instantly get “Chaotic” for pissing him off with your mere existence.
Random idea but, if Gabe dies hours after slaying councilors, imagine he had the idea to take after V1, looking up to it and becoming a machine too (uploading his mind). V3/VG canon when?
fun but useless fact. you can actually fight Gabriel outside of his arena, beating him results in not being able to leave the level as the entry to the arena closes
This stories protagonist seems alot more like Gabriel instead of v1 if you think about it. Gabriel is talking to a brick wall all this time, a machine that already has directives and can't even respond or understand what he is saying. He is the only one that actually goes through a character arc in the entire story. We mostly play as the catalyst that spark this change in personality.
God, you handled this fight beautifully! I had a hell of a rough time on Standard difficulty, so I can't imagine fighting him on Violent or above. You wrote a bible story in his blood.
The reason I love this fight so much, is because you can easily counter him. Unlike in 3-2, where he has barely any parryable attacks, this fight is easy to parry, and it's fun. Also a great boss theme, buildup, and arena.
Tip for all Gabriel fights:using the coin while sliding in circles is a pretty good way to deal damage If you struggle fighting him directly until he starts talking The second fight is a little bit harder to pull off since he has more attacks that could hit you but dashing and sliding in circles is the key to it
I really hope Gabriel doesnt die. After so much he went, i really hope we can save him. Because in the end i do get a felling that he is a good person deep down
I did not know that there were actual words in ultrakill, I thought it was just voiceacting in maxor's video and the actual game was wordless. this is awesome.
The deepest layer of hell is where Satan resides in Dante’s Inferno, and is meant to represent treachery. Plus, Hakita has (apparently) said that V1 isn’t the protagonist of Ultrakill. Why wouldn’t Hakita have the player control Gabriel and betray V1 as the final boss?
Not enough people talk about the starting monologue. Sure, Gabriel’s hatred is the centrepiece, but the emptiness at the start is greater, like a void behind his form. It was the first time I actually thought about the consequences of destroying hell. Learning that the seemingly infinite layers of hell were just gone was, for lack of a better term, gut wrenching. Even worse was knowing that soon there would be no more layers to go through. Soon, even the machines would starve. ULTRAKILL obviously has a motif of a creation destroying or disobeying its creator; God and humanity, humanity and the machines, the council and Gabriel. But what comes after the cycle of endless destruction? Machines of war create nothing more than bloodshed. And this bloodshed shall too be their end.

@Erwin Archlight 451 i see, that's why I wasn't getting the reference. I didn't play a single game of that franchise, not my cup of tea 😅 . Thanks for the clarification.
INSUFFICIENT FIREPOWER lookin' ass.
tip for anyone who hasn’t read the patch notes fully: the whiplash now gives Hard Damage (limit on how much you can heal when you aren’t at full health) when you latch onto enemies, so keep that in mind and don’t spam it too often
the whiplash is so fucking useless after the nerf
@@ImmortalChanger not entirely, good if you’re at +70 or full if you need to take care of something big or if you’re extremely desperate for a heal since it’s not your whole health bar unless you spam it
@@ImmortalChanger also, the s ranks decrease the amount of hard damage you get, ultrakill rank gets rid of it completely.
@@ImmortalChanger as someone who relied on it to heal, I have good news:
It is not useless, it still is very useful for healing, you just need to be careful about what you grab to heal from and when, the hard damage thing is not instant but comes into effect after about half a second, which means if you are very low health or are at close or beneficial distance, you're still able to heal a good chunk from it
I also was turned off by it at first, but with time I've learned the new whiplash is just as useful and good, maybe with some practice you'll realize it is still very useful for healing

In fact, after many attempts in the battle with Gabriel, I felt the same relief as he did. Literally to shiver in the body.
What if he became human after god’s light came out of him? I am not sure if it is possible but it could be

I love the intensity of the transition to the boss fight itself
With that gabe's theme this moment goosebumps me every time. Literally kino scene, best in the entire game.
I like that Gabriel has made a full on, well rounded character arc with 2 encounters and a monologue
Gabriel's voice being drowned out by his own projectiles being deflected back at him is incredible.
Holy hell, that delivery. This guy HATES you and the voice Actor sells it like a fine wine!
fr gianni is so good at vo work
Gianni absolutely nailed these voicelines
"So, I lost to you for a second time, you cornered me.and about to kill ?

I suck at this game so I was pretty proud of myself for beating him in only four try’s using a combo of the rocket and the rail guns drill mode.
Really stellar fight and Giannis performance really is the cherry on top.
It just hit me that the name Godfist Suicide might be hinting that we're getting the last arm next.

Also, gotta love how you instantly get “Chaotic” for pissing him off with your mere existence.
V1 is that powerful
Imagine being mad as hell at a box of gears and bolts... And failing miserably. If V1 had any emotions, it would probably be something like "lmao"

I wanna play as gabriel in his last hours
Tip for all Gabriel fights:using the coin while sliding in circles is a pretty good way to deal damage If you struggle fighting him directly until he starts talking
The second fight is a little bit harder to pull off since he has more attacks that could hit you but dashing and sliding in circles is the key to it
BEAUTIFUL performance by matragrano here. im obsessed.
I really hope Gabriel doesnt die. After so much he went, i really hope we can save him. Because in the end i do get a felling that he is a good person deep down
The fact his voice cracks make it even more perfect, gabriel became the cringe.

2:57 I love how it just says ass
I did not know that there were actual words in ultrakill, I thought it was just voiceacting in maxor's video and the actual game was wordless. this is awesome.
Okay… just a small but very cool theory… but what if you end up playing as Gabriel for the ending? Going against the will of God?
We still have 3 more layers of Hell to go through, but yeah, that would be cool as fuck.
@@jubairhuq5281 betray? V1 and Gabriel aren't friends if you remember, they can't betray one another
@@ImmortalChanger No- what I'm suggesting is that YOU betray V1 and kill him by playing as Gabriel.
@@jubairhuq5281
Considering the paralels between Gabriel and Lucifer, this would mean that we are basically playing as the Devil
Bro became Sebastian now he is not an enemy
