Another note about Prime Souls is that there form is based off there ideals and how they died Minos from the looks was blind and was of course the honest Judge of Hell that saw all as equal, so his body was a bluish white and his face has a giant hole in it, and the snakes he once controlled now wrap his arms. Meanwhile Sysiphus is vastly diffrent as since he was the King of Greed, his body is golden. He was known for extreme violence so his limbs are colored red to resemble blood stains. And he died via decapitation so his head is a ball of light as a Prime Soul. Prime Souls in general are my favorite part of Ultrakill Lore because of this
This is such a good point that I decided to pin this. I'm really curious as to the design choice of the third Prime Soul. Interestingly if you look at every design choice for every enemy in the game none of them contain visible eyes. Don't know why but it may be because Hell itself is too horrifying to look at? A theory I have is King Minos was the only one allowed to have eyes in order to view the sinners of Hell and judge them. After Gabriel's attack however, he not only had his eyes removed but his entire face so that he could never look upon the Lust ring again.
Minos is my favorite character in this game. He was a great king. He turned his layer into a beautiful and prosperous city. He was prepared to defend his people. When Gabriel came to crush skulls, Minos tried to reason. But Gabriel put him in a box after killing him. Now Minos Prime exits the prison ready to not just kill gabe, but now he wants to avenge his species. He is the last king of mankind
I think the ARG confirmed that the husks spawning, doors locking and other teleportation shenanigans is Hell’s doing, as in the entirety of Hell is a sort of sentient being doing everything for entertainment, just like the terminals do with the Cybergrind.
I get the impression that the final war ended bc the machines turned on the humans killing them all hence "mankind is dead" and why V2 doesn't need blood. It also would explain why Minos feels the need to pass judgment on the machines for what they did to humanity
I believe V2 doesn't need blood as V2 was designed to be more efficient in regards to self repair, especially since there was no more need for violence.
I believe in V2’s description it says it was remade to not absorb blood as fuel after the war ended since durability was more important in times of peace
2:43 if i'm right, this place is actually a blood factory, maybe they used the husks to make a shitton of blood for the machines instead of using other humans.

I’m a bit surprised knowing before the vid that Gabriel is a fan fav in the community and then finally learning some lore in your video. My first impression of him isn’t exactly high after what he did to monos and ending the lust Renaissance. Then again I should be fair and see all the rest of the lore first and not judge with half the info. Maybe I’m incorrectly thinking monos being a swell guy. Interesting all around!
gabriel's arc is that of a person who has been defined by their faith for their entire existence. He's never questioned his orders, because why should he? He serves God's Will, who is he to question? It's only when V1 defeats him, something that by his beliefs should be impossible, that his faith starts to waver, and while he still holds it together for a while, his second defeat by V1 finally broke something in him, leading to him killing the Council after realizing that God has abandoned them and the Council are nothing but pretenders.
If you are wondering why Gabriel is so popular amongst the community, that has mostly to do with the voice behind him. The VA is just a funny and popular guy, and he has had a shitton of fun voicing gabriel.

I'm pretty confident in saying that the text in the beginning of 2-S (the visual novel) is a joke. The character you play as is late to school and is running there. There are lines such as "the bell tolls for me" that imply that the text is just Hakita is making it seem like the level is serious, just to surprise us with the whole visual novel thing. The text is an overcomplication of the character running to school, the bell ringing and the gates of the school closing while they're eating their "last rations" (breakfast to-go). I found it funny that you actually thought it was supposed to be from the perspective of a husk lol. I understand that the joke was hard to figure out tho, Hakita was really playing 4-D chess with this one.
While I can't help and give Minos a well-deserved pat on the back for the Lust Renaissance and helping those who didn't do anything wrong, I can't help but think about all the...less than virtuous souls in that layer. So there's little doubt that if the rapists and pedos tried anything under his reign, he'd be quick to punish them in his own way.

nah we will fight Jesus prob. Bros remebered by all the christians so he will definetly be so powerful that we prob wont kill it even tho we win the fight.
Minor Order of Operations correction: I think it's assumed that Gabriel is designated as the Judge of Hell *prior* to the Judgment of King Minos for creating the Lust Renaissance, because well, he's making a judgment unto Minos
Perhaps, but we could also see the killing as a symbolic final step for his status. You wouldn't become the next heir to a king until the current king passes away.
I like the theory that the Earthmover's cry at the beginning is a cry of fear because every machine was made to counter the next; explaining why the Earthmover tried to kill V1
True most Cerberi are inactive, even though alive, but that's because they are guardians of Hell's objects, only if what they guard specifically is affected, they do not care.

You can also get an alternate for the nailgun in greed, but in a different way.
The lore in P-2 end terminal tells that the terminals are also blood-powered robots. So it seems humans actually used hell as an energy source and this also explains 0-2 The Meatgrinder and the flows of blood, it's used to turn deamons and husks into blood to power the teleporters and terminals.
Hey, a little correction on the opening monologue of 2-S, it’s literally just a dramatic explanation of a anime running to school with bread on mouth scenario
notable to mention in the lust layer there is a level that has 2 skeletons laid ontop of eachother as a sort of a reference to intercourse which means minos didn't punish or didn't really care about humans having lust even being sentenced to hell for that
There is a lot of information I find a little inaccurate. Let's start from the beginning. V1 is created during the Final War and goes obsolete because of New Peace. V2 is created for patrol during the New Peace. Since the machines ran off blood, no war means no blood, so the machines took matters into their own hands and started slaughtering everyone. Hell may have been involved in some way, but it is never mentioned. Once the slaughter was done, the machines went to hell using the terminals, teleportation machines conveniently built by the humans during the New Peace. V1 goes on a rampage, speedrunning the first 6 layers in as little as 25 hours, seeing as Gabriel hadn't died by the time we got there. Likely sometime during the Great Peace, God disappeared, causing a scramble for power, and thus came about the council. During the power struggle, Minos and Sisypus led revolutions, with both ending up dead. God likley left to somewhere beyond even Heaven. My theory is that God inpired man to build V1 in order to eventually destroy Hell. God said in a secret mission that he didn't have the ability to destroy Hell. V1 alone managed to destroy 6 layers of Hell in less than a day. What better way to destroy something you can't yourself than by building the perfect killing machine? It is likely this will ultimately end up with Hell destroyed completely and God remaking the universe, with God likely giving V1 some sort of reward, maybe an infinite amount of blood or something. Edit: Just thought of this, what if Gabriel is the last prime soul? You see his will strengthen after a second defeat, maybe his soul becomes strong enough to form a prime soul after he dies by being cut off from God's light.
quick theory: the reason theres a meat grinder to the entrance to hell is so humans that are damned and demons dont enter the citys of earth to keep humanity safe and the glass floor is so if something bad happens (like a demon or the damned trying to reenter earth) they could break the glass sending them to a meat grinder killing them
Really fascinating stuff! It's interesting to see a fanfiction (Dante's inferno) turned into a low poly high intensity action game and some of the dev's ideas on directions things could have gone in that circumstance. It's funny how as humanity, we can't fathom God having the patience, mercy and grace to put up with humanity.
Note about street cleaners: the one sentence, They don't fire flame through an "Unkown source" they use flamethrowers, which can kill you in near seconds.
King Minos' corpse is controlled by parasites, as it was controlled by minos himself he watches in grief and sadness seeing what he made to the lust layer be destroyed by angels. After God left King Minos decides that such punishment is unfair especially to the lust layer as he did belive that it was only meant to show such love and affection and what others wished to do when togheter atleast what Minos knew that at this point hell is out of control, therefore he builds cities and makes lust a new layer, with such reform and greatness has remade lust to a new layer, what God would like after realising that such cruel punishment made by his own hands was a wrongdoing because of what he does is meant to be only good and sending his son to that place has made him weep realising that eternal tormet was the worst act God has ever done wich is create hell. After the new council of heaven realises what minos had done they destroy the place to shreds, Gabriel was the main peosecutor in that battle, the council tought that he was doing such act that god would not like, Minos tried to peace with Gabriel but he was stabbed in the neck by Gabriel's blade and he responded with i think was... "No." And then he sliced Minos' head off showing it to the entirety of lust layer, it was mayhem, Minos' soul was trapped into a supreme being made out of angelic and demonic angels what i like to call a Supreme Hybrid, who was called "Flesh Prison.", it was meant to imprison Minos' soul, but his soul was filled with such grief, determination, strenght, and anger, he became something with such rarity called a "Prime Soul", therefore after V1 beats Flesh Prison wich was meant to guard it from anything, Minos' soul releases and he takes physical form with a new name, "Minos Prime.", he knew the acts of V1 and what happened to Gabriel after V1 defeated him, Minos would leave V1 alone but he knew the massacre and genocide he had done, and as to settle a punishment will kill him, but unfortunately, he underestimated the power of the robot, with his vengeance away and revenge gone, he is in grief as his people in lust layer needs help, but unfortunaly, Minos dies, settling an end for King Minos.

Since i got it on halloween all enemies have a pumpkin head and I didn't think it was just an event. Even in the dating sim mirage had a pumpkin head. XD
It does seem that humanity both used blood and Hell energy before machines turned on them (as it's not just V1 who uses blood to power itself, practically all the robots bleed) Humans basically has made more or less a "species" that can and needs to feed
I realize this video is a year old, but the bit in the dating sim about running through a maze with the last of your rations is an old manga/anime cliche of girl being late to class running down the road with a piece of toast in her mouth.
“Mankind is a failure.” “Free will is a flaw.” “Let the evil or their own lips consume them.” “Then I shall begin again, with my word as law.” Bro dropping bars

Cancerous rodent is a reference to the UA-camr Civvie11, where the area it is found in is reminiscent of the opening crawl of Civvie’s Dungeon
V2 in normal game: talking and lore

nah we will fight Jesus prob. Bros remebered by all the christians so he will definetly be so powerful that we prob wont kill it even tho we win the fight.

Minor Order of Operations correction:
I think it's assumed that Gabriel is designated as the Judge of Hell *prior* to the Judgment of King Minos for creating the Lust Renaissance, because well, he's making a judgment unto Minos
Perhaps, but we could also see the killing as a symbolic final step for his status. You wouldn't become the next heir to a king until the current king passes away.
@@WildCard203 minos is not stated to use his full power in game, wiki, or by the creator
I like the theory that the Earthmover's cry at the beginning is a cry of fear because every machine was made to counter the next; explaining why the Earthmover tried to kill V1
In my headcanon, Ultrakill is set after the Profane Sabbath incident ending in Faith 3
The Cerberuses all are alive, some just choose not to fight
True most Cerberi are inactive, even though alive, but that's because they are guardians of Hell's objects, only if what they guard specifically is affected, they do not care.

8:40 on the gameplay, i don't know if you know this or not, in limbo, there are other secret buttons across every map. when you press all of those buttons (including the IV you pressed) you can unlock an alternate of the pistol, which does a lot more damage but has a slower cooldown. You can also get an alternate for the nailgun in greed, but in a different way.
People need to like these videos more, this was a great video tbh i hope your channel grows from it:]
The lore in P-2 end terminal tells that the terminals are also blood-powered robots. So it seems humans actually used hell as an energy source and this also explains 0-2 The Meatgrinder and the flows of blood, it's used to turn deamons and husks into blood to power the teleporters and terminals.
16:25 "punishment" lmao
“After the death of humanity, there were no humans left on Earth.”
One must imagine V1 happy.
In the final part of limbo you can actually break the glass above the door with the 3 skulls and move on
I found that on accident when I couldn't find the 3rd skull lol
"Oh my god sir you are finally in the event"
"What event"
"Weiner compression day"
The story of Minos is very sad :(,but i really like his story

this lore almost made me cry
So, in short, our boy V1 was hungry and went to hell to eat some snacks
a bit too many snacks because gaybriel is a bit angry
Hey, a little correction on the opening monologue of 2-S, it’s literally just a dramatic explanation of a anime running to school with bread on mouth scenario
notable to mention in the lust layer there is a level that has 2 skeletons laid ontop of eachother as a sort of a reference to intercourse which means minos didn't punish or didn't really care about humans having lust even being sentenced to hell for that
14:00 did "Sleep is Just Death Being Shy" inspire you for this part? It uses the same music as it talks about the same topic
1:09 "and after the death of humanity, there were no humans left on earth" -Mr. WildCard, May 15 2023
The info on "the great peace" sounds really sinister to me. It says stuff like, "war was no longer relevant". Not gone, or over, but irrelevant.
Just the fact he read the infos of the enemies tell me he has the craziest attention span and probably reads the terms and conditions of games
11:53
I see what you did there with the word "bizarre" in THAT level
I feel like v1 and Minos prime could have teamed up since they have a common enemy (Gabriel)
You see his will strengthen after a second defeat, maybe his soul becomes strong enough to form a prime soul after he dies by being cut off from God's light.
v1 is papa's special *FUCKING **_BOY_*
quick theory: the reason theres a meat grinder to the entrance to hell is so humans that are damned and demons dont enter the citys of earth to keep humanity safe and the glass floor is so if something bad happens (like a demon or the damned trying to reenter earth) they could break the glass sending them to a meat grinder killing them
Really fascinating stuff!
3:43 I'm pretty sure that's just Lava, sir.

"after the death of humanity, there were no more humans"
Truly the biggest lore drop in this video
It does seem that humanity both used blood and Hell energy before machines turned on them (as it's not just V1 who uses blood to power itself, practically all the robots bleed)
Humans basically has made more or less a "species" that can and needs to feed
10:28 what kind of lighting?
bisexual lighting
Ultrakill lore but short: War machine decended down to hell for fuel and ends up murdering everything he sees
20:58 That or V1 just cleared out all the blood sources and needs to go deeper for more (the terminals are still definitely sentient tho).
