I brought some stunning gold rams a few weeks back and have been wanting to make a black water scape for them ever since. I think we have achieved a really awesome naturalistic environment for them.

Gorgeous as always, You should try and find some cpd’s
hi sorry to bother, but can you please tell us where you buy your fish, in my experience the chain pet shops aren't very good at all, but I don't know do you use them and then quarantine or something?

Hey md rooibos thea sounds like dutch im dutch so i now probaly know how to prenounce it right it is r o i b o s i think you prenounce it
One of the best things of my day is coming home after a 13-hour night shift and immediately seeing if MD posted a new video. Thank you for always brightening my day and making me look forward to some beautiful new creation.
I love waking up drinking a coffee and watching these
Epic video as always! Shoutout from South Africa. Rooibos is pronounced like “roy - boss” (like a name and someone you work for) 😅
Rooibos is the Afrikaans word for "Red Bush," a local tea quite popular in South Africa.
As a fellow South African this post just has me feeling patriotic
Oh interesting! The SAs I knew pronounced it as "Roo-ee boss" I know it literally means Redbush and boy it is the nicest tea ever, I don't even like tea and didn't drink it until I met those guys.
I thought it was more roy bös, myself (and the chai version is just lovely). Cheers!
South africa has 11 official languages and even more dialects so pronunciation is tough here but the original comment explains it quite well
I havent seen a sand go with warm toned rocks until now. And you just mixed it in a bucket. Skills.
If you feed super fine flakes or baby brine shrimp that pair will start laying eggs super soon. Keep both parents fed and introduce tiny bits of baby food. If the parents knows there's food for the babies, they breed super easy. Love the tank. I live in South Africa and honestly did not know I could use Rooibos tea to create black water. Such a clever idea!
Feeding the fishes with biscuits will be perfect !!! Amazing video.
Really like the way you talked through the whole build this time
Exactly the kind of video I needed for a chill Sunday 😊! Thank you!
Ultimate blackwater fishtank when MD drinks tea 😂
Rooibos (Redbush) is an indigenous tea plant from South Africa.
The marbling effect on those rocks is gorgeous! Love this tank.
I love gold rams. They are one of my favorites I've ever kept. Nice tank!
Great work as always MD. Really enjoy watching your tutorials, you make understanding the hobby so much easier.
What a wonderfully satisfying video, start to finish! Ok, now I'm inspired to work on my tanks! Thanks MD!
"Yeah, you can tap all you want ...." 😂😂
Awesome black water tank. Black background really makes the shadow effect.
The blackwater is such a cool look with the right fish and setup
Great timing! I’m actually planning to rescape my 40gallon (151 liters) and make it a black water sort of realistic ram rank. This gives me lots of ideas. Looks great!! As usual
Always look forward to your videos mate . Keep them coming!✌🏻
Thank you for sharing tea bags idea to dark the aquarium water color, really helpful.
So realistic and beautiful!!! ❤️❤️
masterpiece! never seen anything more beautiful. Thank you.
Very nice. I have one black water tank as well and im loving it. Love the light
I have never had anything good to say about blackwater tanks, but that is really cool.
What a beautiful build. Keep up the good work.
i love this video. very entertaining. keep up the good work
Beautiful tank! Might be my new favorite.
Another solid setup bro
Great video MD! I must say I was a skeptical at first when you added the millfoil but once you added the tannins it came to life! That shimmer effect is awesome and makes me want to do a black water tank! 🤔
I have 1 golden and 4 blue electric rams - this gives me inspiration. So far my aquascape, i am trying to give a wild riverish look - heavily planted. But might to rescape and try something new.
And, oh, subscribed. Thankies!
Love this dark water aquarium!
Awesome aquarium!
Stunning as always!!!
Great looking setup, best so far I reckon!
German Rams and apistogramma are my favorites. Great video and content
I love that tank, you have inspired me to do something similar 🤗
Best! I love this!!!
Yet another “best tank he’s ever done” tank. Love it!
great vid :) i love blackwater tanks , i added indian almond leaves to hot water and let them soak and cool down and then added it to my dart frog tadpole tank aswell as my cherry shrimp tank lol
I love black water tank 😍 it's amazing 👍
A celestial pearl danio tank would look beautiful in your studio 😍
Also emerald rasboras/daino would look good as well. But school CPD's I can't disagree that with the activity and the color it would be good option. I like both not to much difference in requirements as they do come near from the same area. The Emeralds do like a plant mat at the surface. As the come from a large lake that has grass mats of vegetation floating on the surface and CPD's are more slow moving streams and pools. You can put them together however they may cross bred.
You are so inspirational. Every time I watch a video I want to set up a new tank XD.
I saw your wood float up 😂 😂 i think you shouldny cut that type of thing out its really good for us to see your mistakes as well and know you are human like the rest of us.
Love it!!
Finally using the tea pot for tea
really creative 😍
Very nice video 😍 keep grinding 👍🏻
Looking forward to seeing this, I am experimenting with compressed coco in my substrate in a cycling tank,, and haven't seen the plants in there for about a month 😄. I might want to dilute it somewhat before adding fauna.
Hey MD great tank all your black water tanks look amazing but I was wondering if you would consider a video showing us your tank maintenance on the different tanks
To achieve black water you should try using dried walnut leaves. I use those leaves to feed shrimp. I let those leaves soak a few days before I put them in the tank just to be sure they sink. But those leaves turn the water pretty dark. Plus it makes the water quality better. So it's a win win :)
That's one of your top 5 tanks!!!!!
frosted background with led lighting behind it and a white foam board sometime
Thanks for another great vid!
They definitely like the smooth wood, my pair spawned in the same spot 3x in a row
Another beautiful scape and great relaxing video 👌 anyone else see the fish face in the large stone on the right?
Nice video keep it up 👍👍
They look very content, expected them all to go hide! Beautiful setup!
I didn't know you could keep fish in tea. Love your creativity.
Aww yes another MD Tank
Yooo thats crazy I went to check if there was a new video and a minute later bammm crazy lol
Bro your house is amazing 🤣 love it
If you're looking for more nano/dither fish, that will look great with those rams, get some coral red pencilfish. I just got 6 and they are equal parts amazing & gorgeous! They're a bit pricey for how little they are, but they would really pop in that tank. I have zero regrets!
Love the channel ... I've used your idea of using the Rooibos herbal tea to darken the water, the reason being is my tiger barbs tend to hide a lot when the main light is on and they come out if I have a less bright light on, so my thinking was to darken the water like in their natural habitat, and a few days later (after giving them some tea) there is a good noticeable difference in their behaviour, oh and it looks good.
Don't get me wrong but that look it got before adding the botanicals, it looked like a shed under a jungle 😅😍
Rooibos helped when I had covid. It's amazing tea you get in many many flavours
I was surprised when u uploaded cause I thought u would upload the eco system aquarium vid next.
I left this video at the end still trying to pronounce"regularly". Lol. Liked😂
One of the very few occasions we see you change out one hardscape you first pick out for another! Great choice on this one, that large piece of wood was too definitely too large
im south african and watching you using the tea hurt me soooo much. its hilarious but hurt full :)
You should look at the black rams. They’re so pretty that I got them even over the gold ones.
Love the videos 👌 would love to see a crayfish tank if that’s something you could get hold of!
This is the best one yet!!! I need one like it!
Super👍
Great tank, like many others I love rams and ember tetras! Stunning combo.
Those stones too!
I was a little sad to see the milfoil hide your nice placement of Java fern.
This is exactly what I wanted to see! I love Rams! And I love the look of blackwater!💕💕 Awesome!
Cupa tea for fish. Ive used that stuff. Amazing gold colour
Heyy, nice tank. You can brew Alder Cones also to a similar tea also! Does a very good job.
One of the best blackwater to date 👍
Nice
I absolutly love your black water tanks!😍
I'm from south Africa I drink that tea all the time it's pronounced roy-boss
Im from South Africa, and Rooibos tea is awesome. you pronounce it like "Roybos" tea, its Afrikaans for Redbush
It sooooo interesting of your videoss
Amazing as usual! I love this look, although Id be intersted to see what it looked look not as a Blackwater as it had a cool jungle vibe to me, or it did before the botanicals!
Does anyone know the name of the wood?
Must be British Rams swimming in tea! Lol
Hi MD, I really love Mikey's carpeted tank but couldn't find a video on it. Would love a talk through vid on all the plants. I came to watch this but it's already in my history because my five year has basically adopted you as his best mate. He calls you D lol! Greetings from Germany, we love your work. :-)
Simple, elegant and so majestic! Love it 😍💯.
I got a qns tho, how do you clean off the poops from the fishies and do water changes without sucking out the sand/substrate too much?
The teapot is actually being used to make tea!!
Maybe you can just plunge the tea bags in the tank while you wait for it to set in a day, it will be more efficient and let the tea color dissolve by time
The disc be like cook me hahaha, i like your aquarium design i wonder how many baby will u get in the future
Beautiful aquascape!! Love the idea of the Java fern on top! Is this Narrow Java Fern.
Hey I'm looking at setting up a tank soon, I was just curious as to what brand or where to buy beautiful tanks like yours?
What a Masterpiece
Just found your channel and it look great, some plain advice, thanks. Id like to ask a question regarding the wood you use, is there any specific wood to use? I mean could I find some dead wood and clean it and use that?
too epic
Not sure if you’re aware ( I wasn’t ) with the wood, stone & glue if you use a cotton wool ball ( unbleached organic if you are at all worried but I just use the generic brand ) between the wood and stone and put the superglue on that you will get a much much better hold 💕
Ps your channel is just awesome, really enjoying it to the point where I have watch a couple of videos twice
Hi im brazillian and new on the aquarium thing, i just love watch you taking care of your aquarium
I have set up a shell dweller aquarium and just wanted to know what anyone can recommend for good background plants that will grow great in just sand 👍👍
You should do an actual river bottom tank with the mats you collect from ur local river
