China has so many cultural / historical sites. A lot to be discovered and some sites are protected. The vast history of China just shows how amazing China really is. Very rich in culture and it's thousands years of heritage, history. Simply amazing.
Wow, what an absolute beauty! Love everything you showed here, be it ancient architectures, intricate furnitures, jade-like river and those spectacular drone shots, etc. Thanks!
@@nickinchina2552 when you do, figure out how to get out jinghong. It’s not so interesting there, go towards mengla or puer or something that interests you, I’m sure you will.
Great video, BEAUTIFUL scenery. I love those ancient places with a lot of history, you do a good job with explaining the historical background. But you're right a lot of those "ancient" places are "rebuild" new old tourist spots. The best way to spot the real ancient parts is to look at the floor stones, the big handcarved(you still can see the grooves) big hard stone slabs which are polished by the millions of feet walking across the surface. Also real ancient stone walls have somewhat irregular stones while the newbuilt stones are very smooth and regular, the same is true for the walls. You can bring the Nescafe coffeedrink bottles along with you as an emergency ration, you probably know what I'm talking about. I miss going to China very much but you know why it's not possible to visit yet.
Glad you enjoyed it! Nescafe is the last resort haha. Hopefully you can visit again soon, i also really want to get back to the UK soon and see family and friends - hopefully next year
I really love these ancient towns in Southern China, in my opinion they're the best representatives of China, an invaluable cultural heritage. Would love to visit them if I have the chance.
Will definitely spend time in Guizhou province next opportunity. Only experience was one night in Nanning, alighting overnight train from Hanoi waiting for next train west to Yunnan.
There are countless great sceneries and historical sites all over China. You need to be young, healthy and have a pair of strong legs to go and see these beautiful places. And yes you need time to travel to these far flung places. It will take you many years and you will still find you have not covered all. This is China.
Hey brother! I don't know if you will see this but I am thinking about studying the Chinese language at Guizhou university because the amazing scenery and cheap prices, is it easy to find buses or transportation to these scenic places or is car rental a must?
Guizhou is great! the main places are linked up by high speed rail - Fast and very affordable. Outside of that, buses and slow trains go everywhere. You will enjoy it!
The recent terrible floods in Germany wreaked the most havoc on villages situated on the river bends of the Rhine. I wonder what ancient/modern engineering infrastructures zhenyuan has for flood management
The old is indeed charming, but I would forgive the “new old”. It is the culture and heritage that people are holding onto, and renewing. You will often find an ancient building that is in its third or fourth reincarnation in China, destroyed in wars or fire, rebuilt in good times, claiming still the same thousand years of heritage. Unlike the Roman Empire that left the ruins inspiring the “romantic feeling” of the past grandeur, the Chinese live in the present. The Chinese culture is not just inherited, but lived.
But there are thousands and thousands of US nationals living and/or travelling in China. A couple of my closest friends here are from the States. It's a very friendly country, people are really chill.

couldn't agree more! There are endless things to find here - wonderful country to travel.

Oh, love the intro too, including the music :)
Thanks again! More on the way. The river is the most amazing colour! Doesn't look real!
The drone footage and the music made this video simply amazing. It was a joy to watch while eating my supper. Thanks again.
Thanks Steve! There will be some nice drone footage in some upcoming videos!
Zhenyuan is one of my favorite spots in China. Glad you got a chance to visit.
It was surprisingly nice, the riverside is just amazing! I will get down to Xishuangbanna soon i think....

It brought back a lot of my memory. I was there in 2012 but seems that I missed a lot of interesting spots. Great video Nick, totally enjoyed it 👍👍👍!
The natural scenery was pretty. The ancient town was a beauty.

Will definitely spend time in Guizhou province next opportunity. Only experience was one night in Nanning, alighting overnight train from Hanoi waiting for next train west to Yunnan.
do it, do it, do it! Cool part of the country, you won't regret it. Super humid in summer though!
Zhenyuan Biaoju refers to this town? Anyway, this is a famous ancient town and it is worth exploring. Great video. Thank you, brother.
镇远镖局Zhenyuan Biaoju is not a town, it is an ancient Chinese bodyguard organization, more like the armed escort now

Yep, let's see how much i can see before i get to old and my legs stop working ha
How do you get there? Do you take a car or bus from Kaili? Thx!
I think i went from Guiyang via the train. about 4 hours...no high-speed train to zhenyuan yet
Wow! The opening scene music is a variation on the Game of Thrones theme. Know the musician? This is a beautiful town.
It is a bit GoT...but i actually just got it from Artlist

Beautiful place! The architecture in Guizhou looks so unique, it's like a mixed characteristics of Han and ethnic minorities。。
Yeh, and everything is nestled in the mountains - beautiful part of the country
Looks like Fenghuang Ancient Town, which maybe is a bit more interesting.
Not as touristy as Fenghuang - but actually very nearby, just across the border
The recent terrible floods in Germany wreaked the most havoc on villages situated on the river bends of the Rhine. I wonder what ancient/modern engineering infrastructures zhenyuan has for flood management
:) THUMB-UP
China is wonderful land
beautiful place this
👏👏👏👍👍👍
Nice place, I prefer real ancient architecture, too.
Really lovely town, great place to spend a few days.
Is that BGM from GoT?
Haha! No...but i see where you are coming from

Oh i get that, i was referring more to brand new things (not rebuilds of something that was lost)
Why can't we make peace with China? I want to go...
Where are you from? you can't visit?
@nickinchina2552 America but I'm honestly terrified that our relationship is making it dangerous at this point.

I think there is lot of mosquitoes 🦟
How do they get managed. ?!!!!
