I'm from Taiwan in my 40s. I cry so much watching this video and I don't really know why. I love the smiling faces and kind words of the elderly in this video... It brings so much warmth and delightfulness to my heart. I wish the politicians would stop sensualizing political disagreement and promoting hatred among people here in Taiwan. I feel culturally and emotionally close to the mainlanders...and I hope we'll reunite as one big family one day....
as a mainland Chinese, I am really touched by your kind words, hope you can visit mainland someday, it is such a vast beautiful land and leaving the politics behind, we are all Chinese cross the Taiwan strait.
@@DR.Don1899 I respect your opinion, however there is a time and place for everything. To me, your message is annoying and inappropriate and it shows how insensitive and disrespectful you are.
We do wish Taiwan could sit down to talk about issues peacefully to find a way for bith parties. But your minjin government is walking in another direction.
Im just another random person from the US, but something I really enjoy about this video is that it’s focused on the immediate living situation of these people. No focus on political systems, no fear mongering, no “othering”. China is a massive country with a massive population, but its so hard to find videos like this that show the day in the lives of people without all the extra baggage that comes with discussing China in the US. I’d love to see more videos of this nature. Rural, suburban, urban, I’ll take it. Just keep doing what you’re doing.
But if the Chinese government fix a "happiness index" in every household; the system how so far reach them can retain them there for productivity in the land itself
Yea just because the government is evil and the society lacks basic human rights does not change the fact that chinas are mostly good people like everyone else.
1... mostly are 60-70 years old and come in early morning with Fog... Great China, 2.... such a nice & CLEANED RAILWAY with no stickers on walls, in Indian railway, every where can be found "stickers" stick on wall, written like "come here, i'm the spiritual and powerful", i can cure or give treatment(spirit) your all problem like "Marriage problems, Law problem, love problem etc.,& "Gutkha (tobacco) " will be found spit on the walls of the railways. 3... when these people can drive themself because their Good Health, why Govt. not issue Driving License ?
When the moment i saw so many uncles and aunties carry their goods getting out of the hall to the train. I really can’t help myself for crying. It reminds me of my grandfather and grandmother who used to do the same to earn money to raise the whole family for kids. Asian parents and grandparents are really do the best with their whole life for their kids. I miss my grandfather and grandmother. Blessing all elderly in the world!
My eyes are full of tears, how beautiful-hearted people they are. Because of them, we can have vegetables and fruit. Because of them, we can live and work in modern buildings. They deserve more for their hard work.
I was born in a poor and small town in Yunnan province in China. It is the Chinese government prvide the economic train that I have the chance to finish my senior high school . Now, I am learning in a college in Wuhan. Thanks the train sincerely, which changed my life.❤❤❤
I just notice that even in such rural villages in China, the streets and alleys are almost spotlessly clean and hardly see any rubbish. Together with the crystal clear water canals and tall mountains in the background, it looks picturesque actually. These are places that foreigners like us won't know how to get there since it's not on the usual tourist routes. So I really appreciate such vlogs by local tourists like Yan and others who know their own country better and show us another charming side of China other than Shanghai, Beijing, etc
To visit such places, just use the youtube or google it. Then, you can plan from there. Be adventurous. While in China, plan each trip there and then. All the best.
It is amazing that the government provide such economical transportation for farmers. It's cheap and convenient and good for environment removing the need for many trucks.
@@jt-tttmy country(SEA) we have retiring schemes whereas there one small portion of money deducted from our monthly salary and contributed into the scheme(+yearly incentive from gov investment). Do you know there is 8 out 10 retiree depleted the retirement fund within 20 month? I found the Chinese gov encouraging the elder and senior folk to self reliant is much more efficient, at least they know money is hard to earn therefore they won't spend foolishly.
I was born in Taiwan, but my father was from mainland China. He brought me to rural China in 1990 when I was still a child and I didn’t know much of the culture and history. I grew up in USA and didn’t have much chance to go back to China. My dad always loved watching videos of China. He just passed away last year in his nineties. I’m very thankful he had brought me to rural China, as well as other places in Shanghai, Beijing, Great Wall. Your video is like my dad letting me know from heaven how it was, and it is as if I went to rural China with him again, since I didn’t go with him more often in the past. I want to dedicate your video to him so he can watch along with me, wherever he is.
I almost shed tears while watching this video. They are over 70 years old, yet still hardworking, carrying loads of things to sell. Huge respect to all the Chinese grandparents. May they always have the great strength to work and lead a happy life ahead. And thank you so much to 'Little Chinese Everywhere' for exploring and sharing ordinary life in China, which is truly an unseen side of China.
Working for these good old grandparents are not just about money, it's also a form of exercising, socializing, all in harmonic ways. They may not get the best phone, but they get the beautiful landscape, fresh air and clean rivers. They may not get the biggest house, but in return they get the peaceful and friendly neighbors. They may not eat the most expensive food, but in return, they get organic, wholefood and good companion to enjoy the food together.
More than 70% of the world is like that. Hard working people with no complaints in life daily struggle, but still smile n ready to help with all the warmth! So much to learn n get inspired from. Great video. And appreciate the effort of the vlogger to bring such nuances of small town life!! Well done!
We always take things for granted when living in a comfortable life. Seeing all those silver-haired people rushing around earning for their life I couldn't stop tears from welling out from my eyes. Highest tribute to them for upholding their dignity at such old age.
@@peaceleader7315 yes there is. dont know whether those elderly at the beginning have that or not, but even if they have, farmers tend to plant and sell their products.
You made me cry. Thank you. Single woman farmer, 80, Chinese Korean American in the U.S. I live much this way here….very traditional. I wish I had the money to move to China…..but videos like yours allow me to feel not so alone. ❤
Brought tears to my eyes as it reminds me of my grandmother's struggles to support us. I stand proud today only because of my grandmother's hardwork, for without her i am a nobody.
I recently learned that “have you eaten” is a common greeting in China because in the past people didn’t have enough to eat. It is so sweet and generous of the farmer to offer the little piece of bread that he had
Until three decades ago, food scarcity was still the norm in life. There are many tradition about it. For example: when visiting some one home, the host often insists that the guests have a meal before leaving.
If you eat in a Chinese home, the elders will always shove their own favorite food into your bowl (especially chicken legs) and keep telling you to "Eat more, don't be shy".😂😂😂
actually when you think of how they live their life, close the nature but definitely not poor or dirty, not rich but don’t need to stay up night think about your job, your loan, your bills, much more real social and caring neighbourhood. They may not be rich but they are definitely more happier than urban folks.
This is a public benefit train. The tickets are so ridiculously cheap that the railway will never make any money, and will never even cover their expenses. The idea is to give rural people an affordable way to travel to market towns so that they can earn a living.
Yes, they should continue to innovate and perhaps have racks for the produce so that more produce can be carried with space for the passengers. Maybe I should write to President Xi to suggest this renovation. China exist for the people and not the elite. Hail to the Communist Party of China and long may it reign over the Chinese people and continue to alleviate the poor.
This kind of government infrastructure for Buyi's profit is invisible in western countries. The China system combines the advantages of the capital book system and the socialist system
@@feifei987 Incorrect analysis, the Chinese combined the innate quality of being traders at heart and also the practical means of survival. Not any system can defined them or any "ism" will categorised them. Simplicity is the key and not ideology and hence it is socialism with Chinese characteristics.
If China's sole concern is to make money instead of providing affordable public infrastructure to the masses, then the subways and buses in China would not cost a ridiculously cheap 2-3Yuan. And high speed rail would never be provided. The cost of building it is astronomical but the fares are still relatively affordable compared to those I've travelled on in Europe. However, while cheap, the trains are very stable compared to the wobbly ones I had experienced in Europe. As a SE Asian travelling in China, I have witnessed the transformations there since the early 2000s when I first step foot in China. AS much as western media say shit about China and the communist govt, there's no denial it has lifted almost a billion people out of poverty and the homeless are provided with homes of their own, and those with dilapidated houses or entire poor neighborhoods have been rehomed in houses with basic necessities, even in the remotest area say small town in the Taklamankan desert. These days you go to say Shanghai for eg, the streets are so quiet, because most transportation tunning on diesel engines have been replaced with electric buses, cars, and scooters, and honking is strongly discouraged. Public hygiene has also improved greatly.
Wow, thank you for showing this video and it humbles me how hard these people work, but are polite and proud. Look how beautiful clean the area is and I wish especially young people in other parts of the world be so hardworking and proud people like these rural Chinese. I am 81 years old and live on my own and very much appreciate your video. Kind regards from New Zealand.
Most Chinese people even the elderly are very hard working and never have to depend on others except their own children to survive. These old folks are amazingly healthy and strong despite their frail looking frames. Poor as they may be, the level of contentment are pretty obvious on their wrinkled faces. Chinese culture and philosophy played a very important role on the rejuvenation and rise of China.❤🇨🇳💪 Greetings from Malaysia.
Absolutely, many of others won't understand, and I think Yan has just mentioned it in this video, it is about live with dignity, being decent, don't want to be burden on others.
You've become a teacher to me. China is such an amazing country with remarkable people, your videos show everything and everyone off so beautifully and Ive come to look forward to them, Thanks Yan!
You are such a credit to your wonderful country because you show us the real people of China who are so hard working yet open, honest and welcoming to you. This is the China I would have loved to have experienced first hand. I have a profound admiration and respect for your ancient arts and culture in all its aspects, and would have enjoyed the diverse, ethnic food, arts and culture throughout your vast country. Thank you for showing us both the ancient and modern China with such enthusiasm and interesting facts that are truly enlightening - and sometimes terrifying - but always entertaining. Greetings and Love from South Africa.
I love China. I have written many blogs in my Mother language Tamil on China. I wrote about Chips. I wrote about C919 plane. I wrote about Shein. I wrote even about BYD's latest SUV. I like this video and l like dignity of Chinese farmers even at their old age. I do from a farmer family and these farmers are real inspiration. Thank you.
As a Chinese, we only hope everybody has the way to get their bread enough for their families. And also has the opportunity to enjoy modern life. So are we wishing foe the world. Especially those from the developing countries because we understand what difficulty we all ordinary people are facing.
The view at 17:36 made me cry. I was growing up in a village by the mountains like this. After the earthquake destroyed everything in 2008 my memory of my home town stayed at that moment. Thanks for bringing me back to it.
Another wonderful video Yan. I myself am 70 and can appreciate the strength and tenacity of those farmers and am impressed with the sense of community that is shared with the folk you show us in your videos. It brings such a big smile to my face for sure. I have always wanted to visit China and you are taking your viewers to places that few have the opportunity to visit. Thank you for that. ❤
A friend of mine works as a team leader. They will take tourists from English-speaking countries to the mountains and rivers, but it takes children to summer camps.
Even if their adult children regularly send money, elderly people often save a lot of money for their children by being frugal and working hard. In China, parents are willing to give everything for their children.
If u see most of Asian countries have same mindset come to India u will see even parents can sell themselves for their children and the children in Asian countries respect that and support their parents in old age but for west it’s weird
Hey there, I don't know if you gonna read this cause it's been 3 months but I just want you to know that your country has the best festival, Kukur Tihar (dog festival). I wish I could see it someday. And nice profile pic, you must have good taste in superheroes. I feel like Superman is underappreciated sometimes. Cheers from Brazil! :D
One thing I like about your videos, Yan, is that you're never in a tearing hurry to say, but always clear in your cadence. Xi has given so much to the Chinese that hats off to this great progressive man. He is akin to Kejriwal of the AAP party of India. This video shows how healthy, in mind, spirit and body your rural folks are. This is probably the result of being perennialy happy. May the almighty bless your great country and its super folk forever. Thanks, dear Yan.
Cheap public transportation is so important to these people living in the mountains. Now only the elderly are left in the countryside. Although these elderly people are very hard-working, they can at least live a self-reliant life. The industrious and optimistic nature of Chinese farmers touched me. Thank you bloggers for sharing their lives.
This is a train schedule specially reserved by the government to make it easier for farmers to sell their agricultural products. This train has been losing money, and I have read many reports about this train.
Yes it's a very different life than in the West where lack of movement and trashy foods contribute to early deaths. The quality of food grown in the countryside, the labor involved, all contribute to a better more productive life. The have one of the most healthy cuisine, vegetables are predominant and atho most love meat, it's used and eaten in sensible proportions, with health giving aromatics like ginger, chili, garlic, green onions
Granddaughter this episode touched my heart deeply. I too am an older person. Though we grow and raise much of our food, we do not have o carry to market to sell. I was especially touched by your observation that they do so with dignity. To me they also seemed content, friendly and kind. Worth more than gold!!!Thanks as always.
I'm a 76 yr. old white man living in Las Vegas USA. So far I've enjoyed several of your vids., and really liked this one. So nice to see you mix and mingle with the people, and also your English is so clear.
My dad is the same age with you, retired. He travels almost every year and also learns Tai ji exercises and calligraphy, etc, keeping busy.. Hope senior citizens enjoy the various retirement life with curiosity-exploring.
Village life in China is full of cultural and historical memories which are hard to find elsewhere outside China.......People there are just happy even though they do not have the luxury of a modern life in the city. A video of this nature definitely command a significant applauses from the viewers.....! Well done Yan......!
India is also equally populated as China but in this video, I am seeing clean and properly laid roads, nearly empty, good train station and also good train. Even while boarding the train, didn't see any chaos, fighting, bad mouthing etc. In India, you don't see this.. roads are dusty or even if they are tarred, pot holes everywhere, rubbish consisting of plastic, paper etc everywhere, tons of stray dogs.. chaotic train stations and mad rush to enter trains. Its crazy.. People always thought it was due to uncontrolled population but this video in really eye opener for those defending India's infra set up.
You do know half of China does not have overpopulation. Most people moved to the costal regions where the jobs are at. So half or more of china are not crowded. Go to one of the coastal regions and you would be seeing more issues.
@@AL-lh2ht , yes, agreed, population will always move to the place where there are jobs and so does happen in India too. But the point is, in China, as I see in this video, clean roads, clean river, people living peacefully, discipline in less populated place or villages but in India, there is worst situation not only in Cities but in villages, its even more worst. Dusty, pot holed & not laid roads for decades, no proper waste management system, no cleanliness, noisy, chaotic train station etc etc.
it depends on the state and sub region in india . most south indian villages are clean and don't have pan masala . don't generalize all of india and as if you have seen all of chinese villages
In India corrupt polticians and corrupt bureaucrats fill their pockets with public money and Indian courts will never be able to punish them ( because of loop holes) that is why this sorry state for people of India. I am an Indian witnessing this.
When I hear you say about those peoples and wish them sell all of their veggies and fruits, I don’t know why but my tears is down. I felt your beautiful heart thought your words!😊
To someone who grew up in Chicago, rural China is much more interesting than urban China. Your introduction to it is fascinating and beautiful. You really know your craft.

Do they have trap & skeet or sporting clays ranges in China?
Yes, they are genuinely organic too. Unlike those you find in the western market where organically grown is synonymous with poor quality. Like the chicken who are let out for 2 hours to qualify as free range.
Much respect to all these people. With all the negative news coming from China it's refreshing to see how normal hard working people live. And to see the elderly folks still working hard to make a living deserves admiration. Thank you for showing us the real China. Keep up the wonderful work and many blessings!!
CGTN did a handful of mini documentaries on trains running in remote or difficult to get to areas. the train conductor knows all the daily riders and acts as guardian to look after the schoolkids, that is rare in western society.
The English media is in the hands of Westerners, and the rise of China is a serious threat to their interests, so the Western media make a lot of fake news about China, hoping to have a chance to come to China to see for themselves, which is definitely not what the Western media reported.
I'm from Huaihua, the train K7272 from Huaihua to Meijiang connected Huaihua to my mother's hometown village in Tongren, where I would visit during summer vacation. Watching your video brought all the memories flooding back. The excitment of going back to village where my mom used to live, the delicious snacks sold on the train platform, the breeze on my face when the train passed through the green mountains and alongside clear creeks, and the crowed, lively atmosphere in the carriage. My mom often bought fruit right from the farmers carrying baskets. I still remember the water droplets on the plum, and the sweet and cruncky feeling of taking a bit into the fresh ones. Thank you recording this. This train was literally my childhood highlight and I appreciate you for preserving and share them with the rest of the word. You are such a nice person with true care for others.
Wow, the ages of those villagers selling their produce, travelling by train with those weights. Incredible! And the hospitality where you were in invited to join them to have something to eat. A constant that is seen everywhere you have taken us on your videos. I wonder how they managed to get their produce out before trains came along. The quality of the food was very high and would put some growers in the west to shame. And so fresh as well. Long days. Yet, they enjoy the 'fruit' of their labours!! Thank you again Yan for sharing another province. And, so funny with the preparing of the wok!! Have a wonderful week and see you next time!!
These rural farmers are, in my opinion the heart and soul of China; their work ethic and self-help, entrepreneurial spirit is exemplary; excellent video.
I agree 100%. I lived in China for 6 years (2014-2019), and spent a great deal of time traveling the countryside and villages. Completely different from the cities. Village people are a hardy bunch, who do for themselves or with help from family and neighbors. The village is a living, breathing organism, dependent on the sum of the parts for the success of the whole. It was such a quiet, peaceful way of life that I actually dreaded going back to the city (I lived in Shenzhen). The cities are nice, quite a lot to see and experience and of course the food selection is practically unlimited. But for sheer peace of mind and tranquility, it has to be the village. Being a gweilo (in my case a white westerner), often I was the first white person they had ever seen. My appearance in a village caused an instant stirring, many people would come out to see me, and through my guide/friend would ask endless questions about where I lived, what was life like, etc. It was like being surrounded by a group of super-curious children, with their shy, innocent inquisition. Just writing all this makes me miss it so much, even though I now live in another beautiful SEAsia country. Happily, I will visit China again in a couple of months, and I'm so looking forward to it.
No amount of self-helping can make a change in their lifes if there are no infrastructures supporting them. These places have trains, roads, and most importantly, reliable high speed internet and telecomes. The poors in the west stay poor because they dont have any of these, they claim benefits to benefits and stay locked in.
@@jamesreese4170 These farmers have worked hard since they were young, they are hard workers, they have children who work in the city. The characteristics of Chinese people are that as long as their bodies are healthy and can still work, they will continue to work. Not like westerners
Seeing the farmers/villagers lifting their produce and traveling bring tears to my eyes. They’re so sweet and dignified while working hard and getting older year after year. Thank you for showcasing such sweet moments outside our modern world.
Not all Chinese students are kind. I've been teaching Chinese students for a very long time. I've encountered the meanest and the most arrogant. But on the other hand, I've also become friends with many kind and friendly Chinese students. People in the countryside are more polite, those who are living in the city and more privileged are more arrogant and not so polite. I'm just speaking from my experience.
Yan, your vlogs of ordinary, small town & village life are incredibly interesting and well- produced! Through your lens we get introduced to a China that is well hidden from the purview of most westerners. Even though these villagers are predominantly elders what satisfies most is that they seem universally fit and active because of their farming endeavours. And they have something precious that few of us in the west get to experience..a vibrant, socially-connected community life that brings respect and dignity to all. Long live the indefatigably optimistic Yan for revealing this side of China to us westerners. Long may the People's Republic of China prosper!
Thank you for your understanding. Chinese people are kind and hardworking, but we have suffered too much from Western media spreading rumors and attacks. Welcome to China
john, did you see the Chinese people rotting in jails because of their beliefs or because they said something the Communist Party officials didn't like?

To English: "I am from Northeast China. Watching your video gave me a new understanding of the differences between the North and the South. People often say that Northeasterners are very sociable and can strike up a conversation anywhere, so I assumed that in the South, people might be cold and wouldn't easily talk to strangers. However, after watching your video, I saw that you got along well with the uncles and aunties at the market, even though there was a language barrier. The auntie who helped you find a hotel was very helpful, which touched me and made me feel homesick. I hope to go back soon and eat the dumplings my mom makes."
The shot of elderly farmers running through the train station was breathtakingly perfect. Your work moves me deeply and brings me such immense and overwhelming joy. thank you from the other side of the world....
This is how these people can live more than a hundred years. Already 70+ years old and can still carry goods more than their body weight. Movement is key!
My family is from Hunan! I was born outside Mainland China and have been "urbanised" for a couple of generations. Though I don't have a single "rural" hair left on my body, something in this video still speaks to me. These folks live a hard life (look at the size and weight of those baskets), but they are at least well-fed and well-clothed, and their faces are smiley and relaxed. Lovely people, I hope their lives are improving every day. Thank you for the upload!
Hello from Italy! Sincerely a Chinese born in Italy. My family originally comes from a city near the sea, in eastern China. They have been in Italy for over twenty years. I have been to China several times, each time for travel and sightseeing. My parents always tell me stories of their rural life, which are filled with many interesting stories. Although I haven't been there myself, I would love to see it firsthand. I really appreciate your videos for introducing me to life there. Watching your videos about rural life in China feels like seeing my parents' childhood memories come to life. Thank you very much. I will travel like you do.
Some of the best journeys, I have ever been on, have been on chinese trains. And people are easy to talk to (when you have a common language, that is). I still remember a father (same age as myself), proudly, but gently, pushing his daughter (around 10-11 years old) towards me, so she could practice her english. Of course it was simple sentences like "what is your name?" and "where are you from?". You could see that the father was very proud of her - a touching moment, that connected people across language and culture barriers.
I come from a rural area in Africa and I must say rural China is absolutely breathtaking and clean in comparison. I hope to one day travel around rural China and visit many ethnic groups
Almost watching the whole video in tears and smiles. This video really makes me so much homesick as a Chinese living overseas. Miss the people and peaceful environment in my country. Thank you so much for presenting such an amazing video to show a real China to the world!

I love observing the daily lives of people, especially at the morning market bustling with local residence. It's genuine and not staged for display. Thank you for this video.
I have travelled twice to China, in 2014 and again in 2019. Both times we had such wonderful experiences meeting the people, so friendly towards foreigners, laughing with us and taking photos. We travelled without guides and made our way everywhere, on planes and trains. I absolutely love China and the Chinese people.❤
I really enjoy playing in the countryside, I live in a small county in China but I sometimes go hiking in the countryside. When you pass by someone's house, the farmers will invite you in for a drink or a bite to eat, I promise these are strangers meeting for the first time, and if you compliment them on the crops they grow in the fields which look great, they will give you some, vegetables or potatoes or something. Rural Chinese are very hospitable and love newcomers, they will invite you to sit and chat and give you plenty of hiking advice!
Never judge a country by it's leaders or politics. People from China are the most hardworking. My wife is from North East India and the culture somewhat resembles what's in this video. May God bless all the good hardworking people from China. We love you!
Amazing elderly folks still trying to be useful and independent financially. The great capacity for hardwork is a basic and important Chinese characteristic and that has made the country so strong today. It seems like they are also enjoying the routine despite having to carry those heavy weights. Thanks Yan for yet another interesting video.
I used to hear some unkind things said about Chinese people and China when I was younger. But I never paid much attention to that. In fact, I've always loved watching Chinese movies and admiring the Chinese people. They seem so charming and endearing to me. China has such a rich and impressive history. The way their country is organized and run is truly remarkable, even from ancient times. I find China to be an amazing and fascinating place. And thank you so much to the host and narrator of this video. You've done a wonderful job of showing the reality and beauty of China. It's been a mesmerizing and wonderful experience learning more about this amazing country..
If you want to have a deep understanding of China outside of China, you need to put aside politics. Foreign media have too many biases against China. When you come to China and look at China, you must connect it with politics. Everything in China is related to politics.
While you are correct to say that China has a rich and impressive history, it also has a violent and tragic history as well. Imperialist, warlords, nationalist, communists - they all butchered millions in China in the 20th century. The elderly people in this video lived through the aftermath of arguably the worst human experience of the 20th century. The stories they could tell...

The place she went to was Guizhou, the poorest province in China, which is basically full of mountains and few plains. The places I watched her videos were almost all underdeveloped provinces on the border with China. The main population of China is concentrated in China. The east is much better, so sometimes what I show you is not mainstream, because I have worked in China for 5 years, and the places she explores are very remote. It can be said that few people go to places. This is only the 1% of China. Less than a few, more than 95% live in the more comfortable central and eastern areas. It’s a pity that she deliberately chose these areas to show you.
@@leslier302 Because these places are very remote, very few people go there, and most Chinese people don’t know about them. In short, this blogger’s route is to sparsely populated border areas and mountainous areas, which is completely different from most of the mainstream I see, so this 1% basically represents Not China, because China is very big, and the central and eastern areas are the main areas where Chinese people gather.
Hello from the Netherlands! I love watching your videos! It always strikes me to see how easily strangers chat with each other! It warms my heart! Is that a normal thing everywhere? Here in the Netherlands people are much more reserved. My wife was born in Huishui Co. just south of Guiyang. Her father worked in a factory there. She was the only one of 5 children in her family to attend university. After 5 years she got her degree in Medicine and practiced in a hospital in Huishui Co. In 2008 we traveled to Guiyang to visit her family. We stayed at a hotel on the compound of the Wu Jing, felt very safe with all the military around. This was my first time to experience rural China when we went to Huishui Co. Took lots of photos. Thank you for the great documentary. As someone who was born in America with Chinese parents, it is always extremely interesting to see videos like this
Hi. I watch all ur videos. I love china. Have stayed in Beijing and shenzen. My husband used to work in huawei. I am from India. But whenever I see videos of china I get such a nostalgic feeling. I find Chinese people very friendly humble and shy ☺️
This is the first video of this channel that I have seen. It has affected me so so deeply - I'm crying as I type this. At the same time I am so very happy to be back in real China - the China I love, but which I have not seen for 15 years - and now, as I enter my 80th year, I may never see it again. So I want to thank you for showing the rest of the world what a wonderful place China is, when you can travel into the country-side, away from those crowded. soul-less big cities. You said the village in Guizhou (at the end of the video) was like a wonderful place to retire - I totally agree with you. I would love to spend the last few years of my life here, amongst this interesting, human-scale architecture. I loved the Huizhou style when I was wandering through Anhui, but this style here is almost as nice - just no so famous. I am so touched by the way you present the lives of people in this video; you have done excellent work. Thank you; I will certainly watch other episodes.
I was a teacher in China and loved going to villages and talking to the local people. I never had a desire for big cities like Beijing or Shanghai. I LOVE CHINA!

Hi. I'm from the Philippines. I just recently discovered your videos on UA-cam, and I'm so glad I did! I just want to commend you for your wonderful work! I love to travel, and I've done a few trips abroad before, but, sadly, with my limitations now of funds and health, I don't think I can anymore. So watching travel videos is my thing. :) Thanks much to people like you, I can travel the world and see what's out there! I love learning about other people groups / cultures --- their lifestyle, daily routines, what they eat, what they enjoy! And yes, I particularly like learning about rural life, so I really appreciate this video you shot of rural China life. Keep going! You are doing us viewers a great favor! :)
Thank you, Yan! You're wonderful to show the real rural life, earth radish is my favorite, it is called jicama here in the US, so delicious and refreshing, as well. In this video you are promoting tourism, too! You're wonderful! Stay well and happy as always.
This is the most beautiful place ive ever seen. Gardening and mycology in rural America is nothing like this. These people truly have something special
I lived in a area near Tongren (mentioned in the video) about 13 years ago for half a year. I remember there being a ton of stuff to do in the area. Really want to go back and see how the area has changed.
China is amazing country with amazing government. Even such rural areas the people are well provided with cheap transportation for the rural farmers to making a living.
@@lisasou95The fact is that many old people volunteer to work. Most families can afford to support the elderly, even if your assets are not enough. Because children not supporting the elderly is a crime that can be prosecuted in China. China was a poor country just a few decades ago. They lived in a time when only constant hard work and frugality could lead to a good life, and even though they are now better off, they still cannot shake off the fear of poverty, which is called "poor fear" in China. The unwillingness to stop and feel happy constantly working, excessive frugality, pathological habits of eating leftovers, and constant accusations that future generations are less thrifty are a common problem in China. This is something that people in countries that have been developed for a long time cannot understand. I now live in Australia, where my aunt and uncle live with their children. Their children have high incomes and want their parents to enjoy life. But my uncle and aunt would not stop planting vegetables, picking up garbage, accusing me of not being thrifty enough, and complaining about the exchange rate of the Chinese yuan and the Australian dollar every day.
@@lisasou95They just love to work. They don’t need to. They don’t have house mortgages and in China, retirees do not need to pay any taxes on any income. Some govs make you pay taxes till you die. Maybe you consider that great govs?

Im just another random person from the US, but something I really enjoy about this video is that it’s focused on the immediate living situation of these people. No focus on political systems, no fear mongering, no “othering”. China is a massive country with a massive population, but its so hard to find videos like this that show the day in the lives of people without all the extra baggage that comes with discussing China in the US. I’d love to see more videos of this nature. Rural, suburban, urban, I’ll take it. Just keep doing what you’re doing.

In China, we always show nice to people by feeding them
Until three decades ago, food scarcity was still the norm in life.

This is a public benefit train. The tickets are so ridiculously cheap that the railway will never make any money, and will never even cover their expenses. The idea is to give rural people an affordable way to travel to market towns so that they can earn a living.
Proof that sometimes good things don't have to make a profit

Do they have trap & skeet or sporting clays ranges in China?
Thank you so much for showing us the life of ordinary villagers. And those vegetables and fruits looks delicious.

1.4 billion people.... 900 million live in urban areas....500 million live in rural areas
