I didn’t saw you use the metal washer that the kit includes does that washer goes to the bolt that attaches the steering damper to the bracket along with the small spacer and rubber oring ?let me know asap I’m installing mines right now and can’t figure out where that washer goes
just noticed the first thing you did was you pop out those plastic rivets easily!!! 😅 so you jiust push it the center pin? i broke mine trying to pry them but it was in the side cover near the radiator
Thanks for the video! Does it firm it up enough? Well worth it or do you think a "quality brand" is worth spending the extra few coins on? I certainly think the mt09 needs one for sure. I find the front end extreamly loose.
I have now moved up to setting 10 so about 50% stiffness. Works great when for wheelies. Yes the front is still light due to the high bars but it's worth the money. Yes better "quality brands" are nice to have. However this has performed perfectly so far. 👍
When u say higher quality which brands jw as I see a limited amount for the mt09 on market most are really cheap this seems like a good quality compared to most let me know your opinions thank you
Is that correct 5-9nm for t50 tamper bolt? Just watched video again and bars are 21.69nm which makes me think tamper bolt would be more? Not saying your wrong I'm just checking before I got mine today 👍
Hi Nick, still no issues here. Checked all the bolts not that long ago, all still tight. Still works well. Keep in mind that my bike is always garaged and cleaned after each ride. So, it doesn't sit out in the elements all day.
Hi mate, the original link to the one I bought has expired. But found this one on ebay, same as mine. www.ebay.com.au/itm/333970794369?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0&ssspo=4mGryUGdQY2&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=2OFDVTrAQzW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
don't trust that product it nearly killed me, i own mt09sp tuned and have this kit it undone the torx bolt while i was riding even tho it was tight, i run mine fairly stiff plus the top bolt of the thread where the damper sits stripped come off while i was riding, i got a another one the leg snapped after the rubber ring broke, i have photos and proof of this it's dangerous product, and PS if u accidentally strip the torx bolt you can NOT purchase a replacement from yamaha it wittes the bike off , so be careful u have to get one from someone else that's breaking there bike, i hope this don't happen to yous but please check that bolt every couple rides
Thanks for the feedback, wow sounds crazy. Did you use lock tight on the threads ? And torque to factory spec ? I'll go over the bolts to check. Glad you are ok and nothing serious happened to you 👍
@@craigslistofprojects3451 hi yes I always used lock tight I always tighten bolt to manufacture specs. It could be because I run mine damper stiff the flex after a cupple rides grabbed the bolt and started to undo it's self so each taken you get a bit of a wobble it must put some pressure and undo the bolt to the air box come lose and the top mount ripped the thread. As I said the damper is fine it's the bracket its what dangerous cheap Chinese made. I now brought a different mount that goes to the tank ring instead much more safer. I appreciate that It snapped on me going around a bend got a bad speed wobble if it wasn't for my bike going to to mode B and the TC turned to mode 2 it would of certainly been the last day on earth. I hope others learn from this I will made a video soon and show everyone the damage it caused
That’s a long story to describe using cheap thread locker and hand tightening bolts. Also stripping any bolt usually indicates poor workmanship (unless the bolt is on a 20 plus year old machine) also why would you need to get a replacement bolt from Yamaha? You can buy that bolt from a decent hardware store if you know the size and thread pitch 🤣😂🤦♂️
@@localenterprisebroadcastin5971 not used cheap thread locker and I used torque settings the power of the bike when coming snapped the actual mount in half. Plus I have it on the tightest setting after coming off a cupple wheelies it gripped the bolt and undone it's self I got a new tank ring design not had any issues with it

great job. thank you for your video and time.
No worries, hope you found it useful.
Thank you! This helped a ton!
Thanks mate, glad it helped you. 👍
good video👍
@@manlox-k8e thanks 👍
Any idea what the torque specs are for the first bolt. The t50 tamperproof one?
Anyone figure where the metal washer that the kit includes goes ? Does it go with the bolt that attaches the bracket to the air box ?
Is mt09 rn69 2022 good? The ignition switch is right there🤔

And where did you use it to install it?
thanks men i want this for my xtz 750 i thing if i install center screw of my tank then be working wat you thing???????
My kit came with a metal flat washer where does it go?
How many bolt all together? I bought bracket and received only 4

Yes they can be a pain, luckily fairly cheap to replace 😉
Hi how is the damper holding up, does it still work well or is it worn out?
@@chetstube5992 hey mate, not sure I sold the bike 12 months ago.
Will this mod work with 1 1/4” offsite bar risers?
Is that also a spare bracket that you show at the start?
That's for the tracer model of this bike platform. Not required for the MT09.
Hi I’m in the UK, where would I be able to purchase the damper? Cheers
Ebay or Ali express have them, just search steering damper for the mt09 and you'll see heaps. 👍
What settings did you settle with? Just installed mine and seen to set at 10 clicks and work from there?
Yes that's what I did.
Thanks!
Would this fit with a higher/lower bar grips?
Yes, it fits fine with my lower and wider protaper bars.

Hi
What’s the torque on the t50 tamper proof bolt?
Hi, torque spec for the t50 bolt is 5-9Nm from memory. You can double-check this online search for mt09 torque specs.

40-45 nm
Do you still have it? How’s it holding up since the upload?
Hi, yes I still have it. Holding up great, no issues whatsoever. 👍
How has it been with yr steering damper
Hi Brian, it's been performing well. Had no issues with it to date. It's cops a workout every ride.
What is the purpose of this? Help stabilize the bike at higher speeds and reduce wobble?
Exactly that, it really helps at higher speeds and landing wheelies.
Just checking in, still no issues such as that guy that almost died at the top of the comments lol? I’m about to buy
