My son is a videographer. We play Magic. I have not one, but two Vorel decks. One is a budget deck under $100. The other is a bit more. Both have no ramp, no tutors, no I-win cards, no infinite combos. They are lethal by Turn Ten. Let me know if you're interested. My win-con i am most proud of is... Storm Crow. 5 kills so far.
I was using Vastwood Fortification until I realized the slot was the issue, not the tapped mana. Go for Graft lands and creatures, like the frog and that Llanowar land.
@@edhjankcenter : oh, there's more. Surestrike Trident is cheap and turns your big guy into a Walking Ballista. And when I say big, I mean BIG. 36 counters on old Stormy and a Trident and you can one-shot another player without taking any counters off. How about Spike Weaver? You have a repeatable fog. Spike Feeder? Tons of life.
Duuuuude, every video i see from you pushes up how much i like you! Vorel was one of my first ever decks and i feel exactly the same about him, his card, and his lore!
Vorel was my first and only self built deck from almost a decade ago now. I did a mainly charge counter artifact deck with everflowing chalice always getting ridiculous and dropping a then not banned Emrakul. I recently started playing again after about 8 years being away. I brought my old Vorel deck in and asked if i could play FNM commander. The store owner glanced through my deck and very nicely explained to me i wont have any fun playing a deck like that at a cedh tournament lmao. Im now trying to get Vorel cEdh worthy. Excited to see what combos are available that are still fun to pull off with Vorel.
Was looking at Sage of Hours as a possible add to either Vorel the Elder or Vorel the Younger. Stopped when I realized the Sage, in this deck, is an "I-Win" card. No is going to want to sit thru 10 consecutive turns watching you play Magic so you can "win".
yeah that makes sense, but i include it in the deck as a decoy. so that if my opponents don’t want to remove it (instead of targeting things like Vorel, etc) then they’ll have to deal with extra turns! and that’s one more removal spell i have to worry about
@@edhjankcenter : I shy away from being the guy playing multiple consecutive turns, because it just seems like such a salt-inducing buzz kill. Sure, you win. But was that all you were thinking about when you sat down to play? I use Whispersilk Cloak for the decoy. The pod spends a lot of time falling over themselves to get rid of it. The Cloak casts a big shadow even after 20 years!
If I might make a few suggestions? Experiment Kraj would work well in this, even if you're just copying Vorel. Defiler of Vigor and Defiler of Dreams would work VERY well in this, especially since you have a fair number of permanents that are Green AND Blue. Saprazzan Skerry should be in here. It's Hickory Woodlot but Blue. This are actually a cycle and there's 1 for each basic land type. Skatewing Spy, Vigean Graftmage, and Plaxcaster Frog all work well with the +1/+1 counter theme. Skatewing Spy gives all your creatures with 1/1 counters flying. Vigean Graftmage and Plaxcaster Frog can untap or grant shroud to your creatures with 1/1 counters. The Simic Guidmages are worth a look. Simic Guildmage can move counters and auras. Combine Guildmage gives your stuff extra counters on etb and can move counters. Zameck Guildmage gives your stuff extra counters on etb and can use 1/1 counters for card draw. And yes, they DO stack with Great Henge/Renata/Etc. There are a few mana rocks that are work very well with proliferate and counter manipulation. Everflowing Chalice and Astral Cornucopia can be proliferated to make even more mana. Empowered Autogenerator comes in a bit slow but gets bigger every time you tap it and gets bigger even faster with proliferate. Replicating Ring makes more of itself if you get enough counters on it. Pretty slow normally but proliferate speeds it up considerably. With the exception of Defiler of Vigor/Dreams these are all $1 or under. P.S. Idea for a Jank deck... 5C Guildmages.... Yes, there's enough of them.^^
duuuuuuuuude these are all clutch. maybe ill make a second Vorel vid just to talk about some of these 🧐 ALSO yessss hahaha a guildmage deck would be sick ill look into that
@@edhjankcenter Here's one I bet no one's heard of. Civc Guildmage W: G , Tap: Target Creature gets +0/+1 until end of turn U, Tap: Put target creature you control on top of owner’s library At worst flip something to the top to recast for the etb or dodge removal At best pair it with Deceiver of Forms for some serious silliness.^^
@@edhjankcenter up to a point, I agree with you. But if the main goal of proliferate is to increase the +1/+1 counters in order to smack someone and knock them out of the game... not generally fast enough. Each proliferate nets you a single counter, iirc.
Try making a less creature oriented spin on this deck, proliferate is really good in those scenarios. Mana artifacts like astral cornucopia, everflowing chalice and pentad prism. I'd also maybe add a few planeswalkers, oko, the trickster and oko, the ringleader can turn themselves into creatures, which allows a next turn ultimate! If you use a moonsilver key for tutoring the before mentioned artifacts, you can include a liquimetal torque for turning non-artifacts into artifacts and, therefore, legal targets for Vorel
yes algorithm? this video right here
