Starkid has so many amazing songs, but this one is just so legendary. All the references (lyrics and musical), the comedic but also heartfelt performances, the next level harmonies. It's just so well written and performed. Idk i'm just gushing because the ending of this song still gives me chills years later.
All the disney references/disses i picked up, feel free to fix/add: 1. Magic Kingdom hates Jafar and blames him for all of the kingdom's problems = Disney hating Jafar. I mean, the Sultan was incompontent even in the movie. 2. "Why did my mommy have to die?" - disney killing everyone's mothers 3. "just dream a little harder" disney's unrealistic belief in that dreaming hard enough fixes eveything and even sometimes dreaming is more important than doing. 4. "Cause if you're good and attractive" - every good character being attractive and bad character ugly. And if you are a good person good things will happen to you and never bad things. Like no, you gotta work hard. 5. "Why is everyone in the kingdom white?" - explains itself 6. "Some magic intervention" - Disney characters's problems being fixed with magic. You know, because they are good and attractive. 7. Belle 8. Whistle while you swallow a spoonful of sugar and your dreams will come true upon a star - Snow White, Whistle While You Work; Mary Poppins, Spoonful of Sugar; Cindrella, Wish Upon a Star 9. "Jafar will meet a violent end" - killing off all of the evil characters in very violent ways. 10. Deaths of numerous Disney villians: sailing ship - Ursula, The Little Mermaid; tangled in jungle vines - Clayton, Tarzan; hyenas - Scar, Lion King; fell off a castle - Gaston, Beauty and The Beast; fell off a clock - Ratigan, The Great Mouse Detective; fell off a cliff - Evil Queen, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. No seriously, evil queen's death haunted my dreams for days as a kid.
And the beginning of the song (the fuck yous) being beauty and the beasts bonjours. (Idk about the rest of the song I haven't seen beauty and the beast in ages)
11. "I want to be a cat" in 4:41 - In Aristocats is song called "Everybody wants to be a cat" And like Dawn Star said this song is one big reference to opening number of Beauty and the Beast

In the full length show they have on their channel, she was (a bit) flat and it kind of ruined this song for me until I found the studio recording

at 5:00 when the villagers are talking about how Jafar would die, I just realized the mentioned the deaths of other Disney villains...
Yep. Disney's a lot darker when you get older and realise what happened lol
I didn't realise the clock one until I realised it was quite a reference to a more obscure Disney film - as in The Great Mouse Detective.
