- M205 is a superb follow up product to the M105 compound that was launched last year! This new product for 2009 cuts at speed 4 and is able to be used by hand, orbital, DA and best by Rotary.
This formula is a non-gumming formula that stays wet and works great with the new Soft Buff 2.0 Pads such as the W8207 one shown. You have to try this product with a rotary, W8207 and the new W68 backing plate. The feel and look are incredible!
Featured Products are:
M105, M205, W68 and a Black and Decker Rotary Machine.

yes for best results you use M105 followed by M205....to complete only the hood on a vehicle may take between 15minutes to several hours....its depends on the contaminants and procedure decided upon to complete the job.
Can I still get a decent shine and remove slight scratch marks by only doing the M205 after a good washing!
should you follow with a wax after that polish?
@wcuber123 it works on both, as well as the W7207, W8207 and W9207
@DmeloCup this combination should work. If you are using the Meguiar's system, you would use the W8207 yellow polishing pad on either a DA or a rotary at 1200rpm's.
Same fundamental technology are in both but the professional line is stronger for cutting and polishing. Both contain SMAT technology.
most countries do sell it alone....you will need to talk to the local Canada team on this. If you were to layer it...the steps would be: NXT, Ultimate, Carnauba
we use the tape simply to show the before and after for demonstration purposes.
@mctapout187 if you're referring to wal-mart, I believe it depends on the individual wal-mart. You need to look for the W8207 polishing pad.
yes
Cool . I actually just picked up some #80 Speed Glaze thinking that would be what I need. I have only very light swirls and some water spots. When would you use #80? Or can I use that instead of the 205? Meguiar's has so many products that seem to overlap for me.
I have a very "Novice" question. I've noticed that in many of the videos posted here, you tape off the sections that you are working. What is the purpose for that? Can you not do a section at a time and overlap your work?
Or is the tape just for demonstration purposes?
I'm a little confused as to why you started with 105 on this particular vehicle? Judging from the look of the paint, it doesn't seem necessary that you would need to start with 105 as it contains quite a bit more cut than what seems necessary for the first stage. I was under the impression that starting with 105 would only be needed when you have oxidation & small scratches, and I didn't notice any oxidation or scratches on the car. If there were, it certainly wasn't noticeable in the video. Wouldn't it have been better to start with the 205, then go to something like the machine glaze, followed by a sealant or wax?
Okay, now after doing some research on the 105 I see it's not like other compounds in the it's engineered to break down into a light compound/heavy polish. Very cool product. My car's finish looks about the same as the one in the video prior to the treatment so I guess I'll be okay starting out with 105 and following up with 205 even though there's not a lot of correction needed. I figured perhaps it would've been bette if I started with something like Meguiars medium cut cleaner instead of the 105, but I feel pretty confident now that i'll be okay starting with 105.
+in4thewin72 Hey, so did you use the 105 and the 205? I wanted to ask if I want to buy a compound for a silver car thats pretty new and im on a budget, which one should I get or is it worth it getting both? Maybe there is anoher product which does the same job? Thanks in advance.
+Andrius Paldavicius It really depends on the level of correction you need. If you have light to medium correction, I suggest doing what I did. I have a rotory and used 6 1/2" foam pads by Lake Country at lower rpm. They're the "hydo-tech" pads and they have different sizes that can be used on a da or rotory. Get a good flexible backing plate too. I chose different polishes over the Meguiar's which worked out nicely and they go hand & hand with the hydro-tech pads because they're water based. Check out Chemical Guy's detailing products. Cross reference with Autogeek and Amazon for best prices. Get their V36 & V38 polishes. They're water based and have mico abrasives that break down just like the 105 and 205. You also get bigger size bottles for the money. They won't dry on you as fast when buffing because they're water based so much easier & safer to work with. Get the hydro's in tangerine & cyan. If you want to add a coat of glaze before sealant/wax get the crimson hyro-pad to apply it. Also, make sure you buy a good clay bar kit like Meguiar's and clay the entire car really well until surface is smooth. Very important you do this step first! Take you're time doing it and do plastic baggie test with hand to test smoothness. After that, start with blue (cyan) pad. Make sure to prime pad first with liquid detailer before applying five pea size drops of V36 polish on pad and do 1 1/2' sections of panel at a time. Each time wiping the dry residue off with high quality (Korean is best) microfiber towel. Next, follow up with the tangerine pad and v38 and do the same thing. After that, you can throw on a coat of glaze if you wish, or just apply a sealant, and or, carnauba wax. I used a hydro-tech crimson pad with "Finish Kare" #303 foam pad glaze, then applied a coat of "Finish Kare #218 Poly Wipe Sealant Conditioner" by hand using a red UFO foam applicator pad, and finally applied a coat of "Collinite Insulator Wax #845" by hand with a separate UFO applicator pad. Then buffed car down by hand with cheese cloth. If you don't want to use a glaze then just do v36, then v38, and follow up with a coat of Collinite Wax #845 by hand using a foam applicator pad. The Collinite wax is actually a sealant and a wax combined. Buy it on fleabay. It's cheap and it lasts up to a year before needing to be reapplied. Hands down the best wax there is period.
First of all, thank you for the lenthy reply and all the information provided. I will definately put this info to good use. Thanks :) Have a good day!
+Andrius Paldavicius Lol, yeah sorry it was so long. Like I said though. You really don't have to go to the extent I did as I already had the Finish Kare products, so figured I use them up. What I did was overkill really. All I'd do if I were you is do the clay bar first, then use the V36 polish with blue pad, followed by the V38 and tangerine pad, and then use the Collinite insulator wax last. That's all you need to do. Also, do two bucket wash method with grit guards and use an electric leaf blower to dry it off. Doing that will help keep clear coat scratch free and you won't need to do correction again.
If I understand definitely it is above all necessary to cross M105 and then M205? How long to renovate a hood of medium size about?
@1pinoys when you move the pad and you see no product left behind the movement. you always want to wet buff....never letting it get dry.
are you referring to the M205? Buff while its wet don't allow it to dry?
using another compound should take this out like M105.
205 cuts faster and leaves a finer finish and 80 has more oils.
When I use my 105 it dries very fast, nothing like this video at all.... I use the same method, I have to add water to complete the job
you're true. i dont like this product because of that.
you should try menzerna, it have a long play time
You using and random orbital?
hi i'm from toronto in canada and i have meguiars ultimate paste wax, nxt gen. 2.0 paste wax and meguiars gold class carnuba paste wax what order should i put them in if i were to layer it and also you guys should sell the quick detailer like the one you get in the clay kit on it's own because that's my favourite quick detailer and i can only get it if i spend 20 bucks and have a bunch of extra things left over
Il manque juste une étape avec m305 ! 👍
Est-ce que le pad en laine cut'N shine à plus de coupe que le pad dfc6 Bourgogne ?
quick question here, can i use the m105 with w7207 foam pad i understand they say use with wool but just wanted to know if it will function the same? and also after using the 105 move to 205 and use the w8207 now my other question is after i do these steps in order of course, can i also use Meguiars machine glaze #3 with the w9207 foam pad?, or i can skip the 3rd step and go straight for wax? any help would be very much appreciated thanks.
105 > 205 > protection
