That salt is deeply within in the fish, just running the water over the salt fish cannot remove that all that salt

I love this. Try not to boil the fish, as this breaks down the proteins and dries the fish out. Don't boil the fish. Love the sugar solution, as I recall my grandma doing this! I also recall folks incorporating scallions and tomatoes into the bake dough. Love this. Anyways, thank you so much for sharing!
I agree...boiling the saltfish is not the best way. I soak in water over night. God what a difference. The fish melts in your mouth as opposed to being chewy. Hlad someone mentioned. Ugg
That is so true, I pour boiling water over my fish instead of boiling - makes a big difference.
Also if one understands science, that sugar solution does not work. What really work is ensuring that the fish is soaked for at least 3 days, but that also depends on one's tolerance of salt.
When you are young, I guess it does not matter much, but as you age, that tolerance becomes less and less and before you know it hypertension sets in

If you bake them, you are going to get more of a consistency of Bread as opposed to the consistency you will get when you fry them. Bakes are basically fried bread.

I'm a guyanese but we never put yeast in fried bake. I may try it.
Don't speak for all guyanese dear i know many guyanese that use both yeast and baking powder in bakes. After all that's where I got it from I'm guyanese aswell.

My opinion is to boil the salt fish with a lemon and vinegar to get out the salt and the fish smell
But you are boiling away all the goodness of the fish and it makes it too chewy
They are basically round saltfish pates.

TRY it, Already made the Dough & Season Saltfish, mixed them up together allow the dough to become as one with the Saltfish. Probability I myself May Try It. Later

Sorry but I cannot eat any kind of salted fish unless it was soaking for at least three days. That's one of the reasons why we in the Caribbean suffers from such high hypertension rates. When you are young I guess it does not matter as much, but as one ages, it really starts to take serious effect.
For me, I soak my salt fish for at least 3 days maximum and changing the water in the morning and night time before going to bed. Within each soaking I add ice to the water to stop the fish from smelling - the ice keeps the water cold. I always have a large bowl of ice in my freezer.
Another thing, I never boil my salt fish because doing so boils way all the nutrition of the fish. I boil the kettle and pour the boiling water on the fish, leaving fo5 5 to 10 minutes and then thoroughly wash off - done ready to cook.
Lastly, I cook my saltfish in the oven which gives it a totally taste - the texture and everything is different. I got the idea from Portuguese cooking and I have never looked back.
To each his own, but I love to try different ways on how people from all over the world cook.
