You forgot to tell us what the best 1x1 is, so I'll give my recommendation. I recommend the Moyu Rs1 2021 maglev. The turning is very smooth and the magnets help it to be extremely fast and controllable, as well as the maglev core's big speed advantage. Put some stardust and lunar in it and it is extremely fast! Edit: Also, the price of this cube is only infinity dollars, which is insanely cheap for how good it is!

Megaminx recommendations: There are 2 main options. The first is the YJ Yuhu V2 M (12$) and the other one is the Dayan Megaminx V2 (32$) The Yuhu is definitely the one to recommend if you're first getting into megaminx. Both of these cubes are very good. Among the top solvers there are more people maining the Dayan, but the Yuhu is still used among top solvers. A difference worth considering is that the Dayan is smaller than the Yuhu. For both the Yuhu and the Dayan Megaminx black pieces are available, but scs only has the ones for the Yuhu
What's the consensus on the GAN megaminx? I'm about to buy my first decent megaminx, and build quality is something I tend to value quite a bit. Is it inferior to the other options?

Got my first cube in the mail yesterday and I've never solved a cube before so I was very excited to start. After studying your 3x3 tutorial and the solve guide that came with the MoYu RS3M 2020 I can now solve consistently (while still needing to double check some Algs) and my fastest time yet is 2:27 after 2 days of having it. Basically what I'm saying is thanks for your guides and help to get more people into cubing. I'll be hounding my friends to start trying it too.
I never got into this stuff, just tinkered with the basic algorithms to solve a 3x3 very slowly… so I figured with the brand name toy store ones being 10-15 bucks with the stickers and the clunky mechanics that a speed cube type would be super expensive. Glad to see there’s cheap stuff that looks like it works. Never got around to learning a 2x2 so I guess I’ll do that in 5-10 business days.
I almost Know all pll algs, around 18 algs. I'm also learning cfop. My f2l really needs training, but man his tutorials and f2l playlists are the absolute best
Despite the fact I own a gan 11 m pro, wr m, gan xs, and a bunch of other flagships I still use a valk power m due to it's heavy feeling and stability. And yes that's the cube I get the best times on consistently. Just goes to show everyone is different when it comes to cubing Before buying a flagship my recommendation is to try them at a competition
I am good at pyra, skewb, squan, and clock, so here are my recommendations: Pyraminx: The QiYi MS is the best for its price and is fast, but not as good as other pyras. The new MoYu Pyra is really good, and I would say it could be the best. The GAN is expensive, and kinda flimsy, but cornercuts well. The Bell is about on the same level as the MoYu. Skewb: Get any of the magnetic ones. The Wingy and AoYan are great and mid-priced. The Cyclone boys isn't as good. The GAN Is on the same level as the Wingy and AoYan. Square-1: Get either the MGC or the Volt V2. If you're on a budget, then the YLM Magnetic is also OK, but isn't as good in the corner-cutting. Clock: Get the QiYi. By far the best with some breaking in and setup. The LingAo and Rubik's aren't worth it at all. The ShengShou Magnetic is the only other decently good clock, and is good for budget, but id=f you want a future in this event, get the QiYi.

I bought a Gan 11 M (not pro). It's the same as the pro but without magnet adjustment, without corner-core magnets AND it's 50% the price of the pro. Great in my humble opinion. Edit: I added that the 11 M also does not have the corner-core magnets.
I'd love a video on the history of speed solving methods. As a kid I read "Jeff Conquers the Cube in 45 Seconds" to learn how to solve - it was the same book my Dad used to learn as a kid and he passed it on to me. It taught the Corners First method. It's definitely a bygone method, but it would be cool to hear about the early history of speed solving and all the other methods that got replaced by the big boys like CFOP and ROUX
For whoever has the yushi, it’s just like the mgc if you compressed the springs a little, it’ll make the cube a lot faster, but you have to tighten it so that it doesn’t pop, after that, it’s just like mgc but catches a bit more and have worse corner cut
Lots of 2x2s I didn't include are also great! And I just checked, SCS has the meilong listed as 59mm or 60mm depending on if it has magnets 😂. Ill let them know about this haha
I had 8 dollar cube from YJ and it wasn't verry good. A few days ago a ordered Moyu weilong wr m 2021 and it is amazing. I watched a lots of your videos to know which cube is best for me. And now you released this video and i see it is still pretty good! And sorry, my english is not verry good.
I started cubing 4 months ago i have a avg of 40-45 seconds in 3x3x3 your vids have helped me a lot :) and also i am hoping for a light fast magnetic 3x3 this year and a better 5x5 And thonks for the videos
I was going to buy the mgc 4x4 but after watching some videos I think yj zihsu mini 4x4 is going to be better for me and its cheaper. LOVE YOUR CONTENT HAVE BEEN WATCHING YOU FOR A WHILE. LOVE FROM BANGLADESH.
yeah i wish this vid had been put out like a week ago, then i would have bought that as a 4x4 instead of the gan 460m, dont get me wrong its a very nice cube, its just a little too big for me
I've just bought the Gan 11 m duo and I think it's the best choice of the 11 series, it has core magnets (which are great), but does not have adjustable magnets (11 m pro does) but honestly the strength is just perfect and as far as I've heard most of the people use the same strength on the pro version anyway so I don't think its worth paying 20$ extra just for this option that you probably won't even use.
i have the duo and the pro and i use rather the duo. if you dont want a uv coated cube and dont want to spend 65$ then go for the duo cuz its almost the same feeling.
I have the tornado V2 I really love the smooth movement and really quiet to practice in the night, but it's true what you mention about the flexibility, if you adjust the cube to be more flexible to have a better cut in your turns sometimes you have a corner twist but is really good as you said is not for everyone but a really great cube to me
Hey J perm! :) I have a video idea: try to solve a cube only using M, S, and E moves. (You can use prime moves too) (I'm also not sure if it's possible, but you can modify it.) Hope you see this! Thanks for all the tutorials :)
The fact that MFJS Meilong has found its place as the super budget from 2x2 to 5x5 and their magnetic versions were on the budget list of them clearly shows that Moyu is the budget king of all companies. Also, the MGC showed it's power by being on the main list of every single cube
Thanks for including a category for quietest cubes. I want to upgrade from my Rubiks brand cube (🤢😂) as well as start learning 4x4/5x5 and also would like to practice without annoying my family. I am in Canada like you, but I assume all the prices listed are in USD?
I have a question this goes for anyone although J Perm it would be awesome if you told me what to. So I average 22 seconds on 3x3 I know full pll, adv f2l, and 2 look OLL. Should I work on learning Full OLL, 1st pair look ahead. (Don’t know either of those) or becoming color neutral. Please let me know what I should do next.
Depends on how fast you do cross f2l oll and pll. Look at like sub20-15 solvers and see what is different from you and them. Maybe your f2l or cross is too slow. Then work on them first. Full OLL is hard to learn but if you take your time you will be able to Learn it. I recommend Improving in your other areas first.
I would say first get faster in your F2L and Pll. Then when you start averaging sub 20, start learning full oll. I personally started learning when I was sub 16 but I do not recommend that. According to me, knowing full last layer, you then need to improve cross and f2l to get to sub 12. Then I would learn 1st pair planning in inspection. You can become colour neutral any time as soon as you keep in your mind the colour of the cross for f2l and then last layer is easy. Make sure to also learn look ahead as it will help you to improve your times much faster.
i average 22 now with just 2 look oll and 1 look pll and intuitive f2l. i dont know advanced f2l. I still havent learned full pll just 5 algs left to learn
Wow, this is seriously a great breakdown! I've looked all over for reviews, comparisons, etc. This is SO MUCH more straight-forward and informative. It is certainly guiding my purchase decisions. Thank you!
This year I've been having fun with the FTO and the rex cube. Also finally made peace with the mgc 6x6 but I still think it's not amazing; probably because all 6x6 hardware just sucks. I really hope a company releases a proper FTO sometime soon and that we get to see more corner/core magnet systems (and a real maglev system) at some point in the coming year.
Hi Dylan, I was just wondering if I should get the RS3M 2020 or 2021 version. I prefer fast cubes but I'm not sure if the 2021 version is uncontrollably fast. I'm currently using mf3rs. Do you have any recommendations on which one I should get? PS: As always, useful video 😊
The 2021 isn't that much faster. Honestly, I got the 2021 and it's good. If it's too fast, just put in some slower lube. Also, keep the spring compression on the lowest setting, otherwise the corner cuts feel weird in solves. I'd go for the 2021 maglev
Get the Gan 11 M Duo. It's $40 and is very good, but if you want the magnet settings, get the 11 M Pro. It's $15 more expensive and I don't think it's worth an extra $15 for magnet settings, but it's your decision.
i am honestly not a speedcuber, not even close, i use beginner method algorithms, but i find solving and learning new cubes really fun, and i think i can say that about a lot of people who watch this channel, but it's really nice to have a niche but relatively large community to share that interest with.
Hey J Perm, do you have any recommendations for 9x9 and 11x11? I know there aren't a lot to choose from, but since they're not that cheap I want to make sure I get it right the first time.
The new YJ YuHu v2 Magnetic Megaminx is a factory magnetized megaminx that has just hit the market. Medium strength magnets combine with a new design delivering a smooth, fast, and stable megaminx, and an overall great performing puzzle. The new circular ridge design is surprisingly comfortable and easy to hold and grip. This expected to make the megaminx puzzle event more accessible to all speedcubers of all ages.
I feel like the shengshou mr. M 2x2 is a sleeper pick for 2x2. It’s a little small, but it’s super light, fast and the magnets are the perfect strength for the speed of the cube.
YES, I've been waiting for this Video for a Long Time, Well Actually since the Year Started, Thank you very much J PERM you are the Best. I am Venezuelan, and I love your Videos.
This is the guy who taught me to solve the cube completely. Now I am in his debt forever. My solve time is 6 mins 40+ seconds. I am not getting time to practice more every day, hence I am unable to improve on my speed. But with each solve, I am learning new things, and making new mistakes. Believe it or not, my major time at the beginning took to solve the first white cross, but now I am able to understand the pattern on how to solve that first white cross, so now I only need to focus on the speed of the movements, and may be I can improve. I will post my best if I am improving in future.
We back with the 2022 rendition, just bought the Xman tornado v2 and I know it’s not going to be on here so oh well, still gonna be fun to see what Jperm the mad man recommends in general
I bought the MoYu RS3 M 2020 from SCS, but thought the payment hadn’t gone through on Apple Pay. So I went through the process again and ended up getting 2 cubes in the post (the first payment did go through!). I showed the cubes to my twin 7 year old daughters who decided the cubes were now theirs so I bought two cubes and had none. After that, I bought myself the JPERM Cube (as I wanted to thank JPERM for teaching me how to solve the Rubik’s Cube) and there is a noticeable difference! Thanks!
My favorite cube was while it didnt come out this year, the MGC7 is just so, so good especially for the price and its probably my favorite cube I have.
Jperm, I think that you are getting better at 3*3 as you don't get this many 6 second solves in a row like this, so congrats on your progress and hope you get to 1 million subscribers within April. Love from India 🙏
The pyraminx is incredibly easy, I taught myself how to to it in a couple days it’s so easy, you should try it, it’s conveniently shaped aswell, surprisingly

@@zepos I mean that his table and stickerless cubes really match up together. Just like jeans and a polo shirt matchup nicely
I'm currently learning cfop and your videos really help.
That's great! I'm Cfop Cubing!
I almost Know all pll algs, around 18 algs. I'm also learning cfop. My f2l really needs training, but man his tutorials and f2l playlists are the absolute best
Looks cool! ¡Saludos desde Cubastic ESP!
Ayoo cubastic
ur rusian dude
Hi Cuba-Stick
Despite the fact I own a gan 11 m pro, wr m, gan xs, and a bunch of other flagships I still use a valk power m due to it's heavy feeling and stability. And yes that's the cube I get the best times on consistently. Just goes to show everyone is different when it comes to cubing Before buying a flagship my recommendation is to try them at a competition
Problem is, offline competitions don't even take place now due to covid:(
I use:
2×2 Gan 251 m leap uv
3×3 Gan 12 maglev uv
4×4 qi yi x man desigh
skewb wing
clack Chuang shi
pyraminx xmd
sq1 mgc
I am good at pyra, skewb, squan, and clock, so here are my recommendations:
Pyraminx: The QiYi MS is the best for its price and is fast, but not as good as other pyras.
The ShengShou Magnetic is the only other decently good clock, and is good for budget, but id=f you want a future in this event, get the QiYi.
seeing the words 'breaking in' on clock scares me to the bone
Hey, I just got into cubing like a week ago, i want a good cube and fast (not uncontrollable), i was looking into getting the GAN 356M Lite Version From SpeedCubeShop, or the GAN X M V2, any other recomendations from you guys?
@@xycrypt I mean it both ways. Setting up/lubing the inside and maybe 20 solves will make it good. I get it, though. XD
@@conquerinn The WR M is fast, as well as the RS3 M 2021 and the GAN 11 M Pro, GAN 11 M V2, and the GAN X V2. Hope this was helpful :)
@@JPDcuber this was really helpful, i will each check out the ones u said one more time and give them a close look, now 3-4 people havetold me to get rs3m so ive put it in my top 5 list, i would prob have got X V2 itt was on sale but now it sadly isnt :( so i have to choose another one, thanks again. and btw 1 more thing, what do you think about DaYan TengYun V2
For me, I love both the tornado v2 (ch) and the rs3m, either way, good video like always
Yep, same here.
I bought a Gan 11 M (not pro). It's the same as the pro but without magnet adjustment, without corner-core magnets AND it's 50% the price of the pro. Great in my humble opinion.
Edit: I added that the 11 M also does not have the corner-core magnets.
Thats the GAN 11 M Duo not the 11 M
@@marovic78 You're right, the 11 m also drops the corner-core magnets. Sorry, I will edit my comment.
imo 11m pro is the sweet spot if you wanna go gan
@@whipinprogress if you just want to try a gan cube just for the feel and all that the 356M is better
@@marovic78 nah, I'm good
I'd love a video on the history of speed solving methods.
Man I just wish I could meet Dylan once. Such a nice guy, cracks jokes only my dad can possibly make and he is quite insanely fast.

The Moyu RS3 M is1 of the most amazing cubes I have ever tried. Its so amazing and consistent 😃😃
RS3M 2021 or 2020?
2021
@@OfficialCuberDude27 thx bro
My favourite formal cube is the GAN Maglev 3x3, my favourite special cube is the banana!
I've been waiting for this
I think the qiyi MS and the Tengyun Plus are missing in the 2x2 recommendations. Also the Meilong M 4x4 is 59mm not 60. Other than that great summary!
Your English is really good!
if there's anything wrong with your english, i didn't catch it when i read it.
i also main the wrm 2021
I started cubing 4 months ago i have a avg of 40-45 seconds in 3x3x3 your vids have helped me a lot :) and also i am hoping for a light fast magnetic 3x3 this year and a better 5x5 And thonks for the videos
Buy a wrm 2021 I costs 23 dollars
you have better editing than last year
Currently waiting for my YJ MGC 5x5 to arrive, glad to see it's one of the best options.
I"m considering getting the duo, how does it feel?
i have the duo and the pro and i use rather the duo.
if you dont want a uv coated cube and dont want to spend 65$ then go for the duo cuz its almost the same feeling.
I have the tornado V2 I really love the smooth movement and really quiet to practice in the night, but it's true what you mention about the flexibility, if you adjust the cube to be more flexible to have a better cut in your turns sometimes you have a corner twist but is really good as you said is not for everyone but a really great cube to me
POG new laptop!!!!!!
Thank you for this, I haven’t speed cubed in years and need a new set of mains and had no idea where to start
Another really good 2 by 2 in my mind is the qiyi ms its 6 dollars and a really good magnetic pull and very smooth turning
Hey J perm! :)
I have a video idea: try to solve a cube only using M, S, and E moves. (You can use prime moves too) (I'm also not sure if it's possible, but you can modify it.) Hope you see this! Thanks for all the tutorials :)
The cube would have to be scrambled with only slice moves or just keep the corners solved for it to be possible. Sounds interesting!
The corners would all have to be solved relative to each other
I have tried this; it’s not very hard.
The fact that MFJS Meilong has found its place as the super budget from 2x2 to 5x5 and their magnetic versions were on the budget list of them clearly shows that Moyu is the budget king of all companies.
Also, the MGC showed it's power by being on the main list of every single cube
Thanks for telling me which ones to get - I really appreciate it!!! 😁
Finally
Ive been waiting for this for three weeks
Its here!!!!!!

Thanks for including a category for quietest cubes. I want to upgrade from my Rubiks brand cube (🤢😂) as well as start learning 4x4/5x5 and also would like to practice without annoying my family. I am in Canada like you, but I assume all the prices listed are in USD?
Yes, the prices are listed in USD
yes since scs is in california
Look ahead is your best friend here. I average 12-13 seconds with cross on top. Full PLL and like 80% OLL
Thank you so much J perm. Because of you, I have solved my first cube and bought a good one, YOU ARE MY LIFESAVER
@@wolf219_yt Does it break apart or corner twist in the lowest setting?
Anyways,thankyou for the reply😊
@@asjempire1531 No, it almost never pops or corner twists, as long as it is on reasonable tensions.
I’m buying my first gan cube and my budget is $50 do you have any suggestions?
Get the Gan 11 M Duo. It's $40 and is very good, but if you want the magnet settings, get the 11 M Pro. It's $15 more expensive and I don't think it's worth an extra $15 for magnet settings, but it's your decision.
Meilong be dominating the budget and super budget cubes
i am honestly not a speedcuber, not even close, i use beginner method algorithms, but i find solving and learning new cubes really fun, and i think i can say that about a lot of people who watch this channel, but it's really nice to have a niche but relatively large community to share that interest with.
I love how he gets a good time on cubes he doesn’t recommend or use as a main
Hey J Perm, do you have any recommendations for 9x9 and 11x11? I know there aren't a lot to choose from, but since they're not that cheap I want to make sure I get it right the first time.
the unreleased diansheng 9x9 sounds promising, i have the meilong 9x9 and its ok, jperm has a ylm 11x11 and no 9x9 afaik
I have the Meilong 11x11 and its good

The new YJ YuHu v2 Magnetic Megaminx is a factory magnetized megaminx that has just hit the market. Medium strength magnets combine with a new design delivering a smooth, fast, and stable megaminx, and an overall great performing puzzle. The new circular ridge design is surprisingly comfortable and easy to hold and grip. This expected to make the megaminx puzzle event more accessible to all speedcubers of all ages.
Why are you calling the yuhu v2 a new megaminx, it came out in May of 2020, it did not just hit the market. it’s over 1.7 years old
I feel like you just copy pasted the description of the YuHu V2 on scs lol
Bro you have no idea how long I've waited for this one video Thanks So Much!

I feel like the shengshou mr. M 2x2 is a sleeper pick for 2x2. It’s a little small, but it’s super light, fast and the magnets are the perfect strength for the speed of the cube.

J PERM I AM 9 YEARS OLD AND I SOLVED RUBIK CUBE IN 3 MINUTE AND 27 SECONDS AND YOUR CHANNEL IS THE BEST I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL
If I got $40 every time he said “MGC” I’d be able to buy every cube on this list
Jperm has almost all of the cube in the world.
You’re the best teacher for cubes

I payed 2.90€ for a RS3M and it's just so good it's unreal. It's a simple cube, yet it does the job out of the box.
Thanks!
