You obviously didn't understand the video correctly, these mods can only be used on ceertain weapons under certain circumstances. That is not a breath of fresh air, that is just more fart gas to cover up the fact that DE have no idea how to buff all guns, they can only buff certain, more powerful guns. Which, don't forget, will certainly be nerfed into the ground when DE looks into the data and sees that the majority of players are only using a handful of the more powerful weapons. Remember what happened to kitguns, when they were the most powerful weapons and the majority of players were using them? Yep, they nerfed those so bad that no-one uses them now. That was a situation that DE themselves created, and this will be no different. Just watch out for the many tweaks to come that will effectively make these mods not worth using at all. They could have just given a flat increase to the mods we were already using, but no, they introduced a complicated series of additional mods which may be more useful under certain circumstances. They still have not changed the current meta, even after the nerfs to attack speed, melee is still king, guns are still weak.

The projectile issue with gundition overload is a confirmed bug from the devs, apparently the issue for why it's bugged is complex and not the same for all weapons it is broken on.
For my part, I suspect it has something to do with the projectiles damage being locked in on creation (aka firing) and not being able to dynamically update afterwards, with only damage taken increase debuffs on enemies affecting them at that point.

As a rule of thumb you don't stack mods, especially now when you also have damage arcanes. Galvanized mod + arcane makes hornet give like 30% overall bonus, not worth a mod slot.
      Weapon with 100 damage + Galvanized with 2 statuses = 100 + 240 = 340
      Adding a merciless arcane with 360% damage on top = 100 + 240 + 360 = 500
      Adding a hornet strike into the mix with everything = 100 + 240 + 360 + 220 = 720 (30% increase overall)
Not to mention secondaries are already tight for slots with lethal torrent being a thing + expel mods, primed heated charge, primed crit mods or maybe a riven as well. Hornet strike is no longer a core mod on anything pretty much.

@@lotuscat3173 I would remove Serration from the game and instead calculate every gun's damage from base to what it is with Serration scaling from rank 0 to 30. So every level from 0 to 30 max (and not resetting with forma) your weapon gains 5.5% more damage. This means at max rank EVERY GUN HAS INNATE SERRATION, it's something that just happens. This frees up a mod slot for every player, even though everyone is going to say, "I don't even use that, I already only use Primed Bane mods, lmao." Well, yeah. The galvanized mods are just flat upgrades to your damage in 90% of cases. If DE is looking to give guns a buff, pulling out Serration, not Pressure Point, would do exactly that. Guns would be more powerful and useful than they are right now, ranking up weapons would be more useful and actually feel like the weapon improves as you use it, and starting builds wouldn't just be, "Welp, I can only fit my max rank Serration/Hornet Strike. Hope this gun doesn't blow chunks" until you reach MR 30.

I'd really love an updated version of this guide combined with your updated elements guide... Something like an "Advanced Modding Guide". As a player who understands the basics of multiplicative vs. additive bonuses when it comes to basic modding, I'd really love to understand where to go from there. Typically I'm just copying builds from content creators or Overframe but it's hard to discern which builds are actually "better". With the introduction of primed elemental mods and gun arcanes, it'd be nice to have some more modding rules of thumb that can be applied to weapon modding as a whole like when it's better to add a third element to a build. Which elements to mod for on which type of weapon. If non prime faction mods are worth a slot and what would be similar in damage/better if you don't want to muss around with swapping.
Most of my knowledge comes from a time in warframe when there were elemental combos that were best to run per faction like Magnetic + Toxin for Corpus. Nowadays Viral + Heat seems to be the go to. While I understand that this is best for the highly armored Grineer units, what I don't understand is when it's better to use other alternatives. Ideally I'd love just a loadout of weapons that's specifically geared for high level targets of each faction that I could just set and forget,

I would also add that primers require holstering, unlike Condition Overload. So basically adds a dimension of Fire Rate/Multishot. If in 0.3~0.5 seconds, my bullet hose can apply 3 status on a trigger pull. Tl;dr: weapons with good fire rate, multishot and status chance are weapons which can self prime. Primary Weapons need to optimise (as below), Shotguns do not fire fast enough to do so and secondaries are primers for a reason. Also Primer + Overload is meta for a reason.
    Primary Senarios:
Vanilla Soma spooled with a FR of 15 and 90% MS I would be effectively firing 4~7 times in that window, with 8~14 bullets being fired. It with it's pitiful 7% status chance will not benefit much as a self-primer, as it will only get up to 12.6% status chance from the mod. This means we can safely expect to only get about 1 procs in this time window (assuming HM), making swapping to a primer more effective to just hosing with a Soma.
Amprex with a FR of 12 with 90% MS, we would get an effective 3~6 ticks in that time, with 6~11 "status ticks". With a decent status chance of 22%, we get a status chance of 39.6%. This means we will get 2 status procs in this time period, with 2 'procs' on average with 100% base electric and slash from HM. This however is still not great.
But having a more decent status chance does mean the adding viral or any other element which doesn't combine with electricity has opened the possibility to apply 3 status procs by itself in this time window, but just barely. This I think puts Amprex as a good "gateway" into self-priming weapons, being a weapon of high fire rate with just enough status chance for the possibility to pop up with it's distrubution of stats (crit for HM, few damage types for procing 2 unique elements).
Jumping all the way up to Tenora Prime, with a FR of 12.67 will have 7~12 bullets being fired. 24% status chance being bumped up to 43.2% means we can expect to have 3~5 procs in this window. With an IPS of 30/40/30, we have a decent chance of having all 3 status types being applied, with a reasonable expectation of at least 2 different procs applied in this window. Adding elementals such as viral to the build also will change the distribution, but having 3~5 procs in this window means that having a 4th element isn't going to harm weightings too poorly (viral+slash). Being a bullet hose weapon, adding Fire Rate to the weapon itself such as Vile Acceleration will increase not only it's DPS, but also it's StatusPS. This allows the Tenora P to reliably self prime (ha. ha.) instead of holstering, and is only enhanced further by external means of applying status (e.g. chernobyl grass, spores, etc).
Shottys imo actually do the worst despite having high pellet counts due to the low status per pellet and comparitively low fire rate. They are great if you have other means to increase pellet count or fire rate.
As most secondaries tend to have decent fire rate and status chance as well as ready access to multishot in the form of Barrel Diffusion and Lethal Torrent, they nearly all will benefit from Galvanised Shot over Hornet Strike. They make up for it kinda for not having the same one shot capability as the other weapons.

I always thought Condition Overload was the coolest thing when it was OP, especially cause it wasn't just an OP melee mod, it didn't require me to spam melee, let alone sliding attacks.
Instead, it incentivized the opposite, combining several things to greater effect, it was always so welcome to see a frame spread some more statuses.
I'm really glad they kept this, the upfront vs. scaling dmg is a pretty cool way to create some variety too, it's essentially just uninspiring number crunching, but it feels satisfying to capitalize on anyway.
Sort of unrelated, but I remember watching a tactical potato video when I first started, and when he described blast dmg, I misunderstood it would essentially turn any machine gun into a Mausolon/Acceltra etc., it's fun to imagine a world where the elements are that transformative in their properties. They could really lean into it with tight design, gas could counter slower enemies that linger in the buildup of DoT AoE, viral could be something that spreads in a network, more quickly if closer together. Magnetic, well, it'd actually magnetize enemies and have the expected (exaggerated) result. I really love super simple and organic toolbelts like that, it's elegant to intuit and put it to good use if the game is built around it.
Which, yes, that means this isn't so much a suggestion for DE. It'll probably end up like Eclipse, really cool layer, but not really accomodated properly by the context it exists in.
Great ability if you know the tile, of course.

With The New War coming soon, I wanted to start kitting out my Umbra, Skiajati, and Paracesis (sometimes I like to be thematic in my play, that's just a thing that I like). If anyone has some opinions on my mod loadouts (Paracesis complete, Umbra outline, Skiajati/Umbra Blade yet to start), I'd like some pointers. Forma is no concern to me, with just how easy it is to obtain.
    Paracesis
    Stance: Tempo Royale (Personal Preference)
    Sacrificial Steel|Sacrificial Pressure|Killing Blow|Spoiled Strike
    Gladiator Vice|Gladiator Might|Gladiator Rush|Carnis Mandible
Info: I've never really made my own mod loadout before. This is my first ever attempt. All I _knew_ I wanted is that slight bonus damage to Sentients to hopefully off-set their defensive gimmick. Then, with that gimmick in mind, I really just went for Big Crit Swingin' with some Slash preference. In the hope that the Crits burn them down before their type-resistance gimmick gets too crazy.
    Excalibur Umbra (Needs Testing)
    Umbral Fiber|Umbral Intensify|Umbral Vitality|Energy Max|Ability Range
Energy Efficiency (if it can fit)|Shield Booster (if it can fit)|Other bonuses as Drain becomes available
Info: Again, even if it's slight, having that resistance to the Sentient's unique damage type could end up getting me out of a pinch. Outside of that, the main idea is to buff Howl to effect as wide of an area as possible, because it will both briefly stun the enemies, but will also remove their built-up resistances. If, by the end of the Forma spam, I can apply something like Energy Efficiency, Shield buff, or something else, then awesome.
    Skiajati
    Stance: Decisive Judgement (Personal Preference)
Likely to be similar to Paracesis, but faster and possibly Proc-based (since I'll be using it on Umbra, and Paracesis is really for those Frames without a Sig Melee that I would actually use versus Sentients).
    Exalted Umbra Blade
This is what Efficiency is for, if I can fit it onto Umbra. In the event that it can fit, Umbra Blade is likely going to be a fast crit machine for if I get swarmed by those mooks from the preview, or some other hostile enemy type that happens to be in the mission as well.

      @izzyhawkins3631 3 роки тому +5

      Paracesis:
Tempo Royale is the best stance, good choice.
First off, sentients are immune to status, so Carnis Mandible is probably best removed since the status is wasted.
I'm also not really sure what you're trying to achieve with that build - you've got some mods that help with heavy attacks and some that help with combo, but in most situations you're not going to be able to utilise both. If you want to stay with a heavy attack build I would remove Gladiator Rush in favour of Corrupt charge - combo duration doesn't matter for heavy attack builds and Corrupt charge will DOUBLE your damage output if you're spamming heavy attacks. On the other hand, if you want to lean into a combo heavy build (imo a better decision) replacing Killing Blow with Blood Rush will make your crit chance MUCH higher and will kick out more overall damage. It's probably also a good idea to leave Spoiled Strike out for normal play as the attack speed loss isn't worth it if you're not heavy attacking.
My builds based on yours would be:
For Heavy Attacks: Sac Press. / Sac Steel. / Killing Blow / Spoiled Strike / Corrupt Charge / Gladiator Might / Organ Shatter / Life Strike
For Combo: Sac Press. / Sac Steel. / Blood Rush / Quickening / Gladiator Might / Gladiator Rush / Gladiator Vice / Organ Shatter
My Paracesis Build: Sac Press. / Sac Steel. / Blood Rush / Quickening / Gladiator Might / Drifting Contact / Primed Fury / Organ Shatter
      Excal Umbra:
Triple Umbral mod is a given, range for Howl isn't a bad call, but I would usually prioritise Efficiency over Energy Max - that's a flavour choice tho, so don't necessarily listen to me on that! It's also not great to use shield mods on frames like Excal since your armor doesn't apply to shields, so they're a lot less useful than you might expect. Unless you're a very shield focused frame (Mag, Hildryn, Harrow) Redirection is usually a wasted slot IMO. You're much better off grabbing some more power strength for Exalted Blade and Hunter Adrenaline to sustain energy better. If you REALLY want to run Redirection I'd say Adaptation is really important because the Damage resistance is offers WILL apply to your shields. IIRC it also gives resistance to sentient damage so it fits into what you were saying about saving your ass. The Chromatic Blade augment is also fantastic for Exalted Blade so definitely give that some consideration. I'll include my Excal build so you can see it but for Warframes it really is way more about preference and taste.
My usual Excal Build: U Fib / U Vit / U Int / Transient Fortitude / Stretch / Chromatic Blade / Hunter Adrenaline / Primed Continuity
      Skiajati:
I actually don't know anything about the Skiajati, I don't like Nikanas very much so haven't used it. Same principles as the Paracesis will apply though.
      Exalted Blade:
This is a little complicated. I use Chromatic Blade on my Umbra and I set the color to give me Heat damage at base. I then mod EB for Corrosive so I can shred the armor off anything I don't like. With JUST Chromatic Blade + Voltaic Strike for status chance you get 128.4% status which means every hit shreds armor or ignites them or both. Couple that with Condition Overload and a LOT of attack speed (Primed Fury + Quickening) and Things. Die. This is however not great vs sentients as they are immune to status. I think a crit focused build much like the Paracesis will do well on it, but since you can't run Blood Rush on it I'm not sure how best to go about that. Once again, I'll include my build so you can see my thinking, but there's lots of tweaks possible.

You're aiming squarely at the right things for what you want out of both your frame and weapons. There's solid ideas here that are worth keeping around and exploring. I really hope you don't think I'm being rude in any way!! I hope you find builds that work out well for you and satisfy that want to be thematic - I also love to be thematic in my play and think that's great.

a bit of an update/newer news; status overload mod does apply to some projectiles, in fact sometimes it's a multiplicative buff over additive to base damage. I know there is a google spreadsheet that's decently well maintained out there that has a list of porjectile weapons that they do/don't affect, and if it's additive/multiplicative. aznvasion(?) youtuber occasionally posts the link in the description of his videos whenever it's relevant.

Since I don't see a pinned comment, the status overload mods have been mostly fixed for projectile weapons. The one big thing with these, though, is that they are most often multiplicative with a base damage buff, meaning that you can double-dip on damage increases by using both a mod like Serration and a mod like Galvanized Aptitude without running into issues of diminishing returns.
So your 165% Serration bonus with one stack of 40% Galvanized Aptitude and two unique status procs would give (1+1.65)*(1+0.4+0.4)=4.77 or a total 377% increase from none of these mods. They do still take 3 status procs to be a replacement for your base damage, but now they're a good option to be in addition.

Working with essentially passive 360% extra raw damage from the Gun arcanes further diminishes the status overload mods value, especially with the weaker non-secondarie versions. That's another consideration that might leave some weapons with no raw damage mod whatsoever slotted optimal or open up to use a qol/playstyle enhancing mod for a rather small opportunity cost depending on gun.

I did the math for the Impact Kuva Nukor recently and it's actually better than toxin or heat Nukor IF you
    1. Have a spare mod slot for Hemorrhage,
    2. Use Galvanised Shot,
    3. Build around crit (the difference in dps is even more apparent if you use external critchance sources, like Arcane Avenger)
And as a bonus it gives almost instant mercy finishers on heavy units, but you'll rarely need them, since most of the time they'll die from your Nukor quicker than you'll be able to approach them to execute the finisher.
But(!) this setup requires your impact bonus to be higher than 45%
This works because with Hemorrhage Impact gives you 2 additional status types instead of 1, and while on any other weapon this would've been a too unreliable thing to do, Kuva Nukor has so high of a status chance per kill, that you are gonna reliably proc slash on almost any enemy, assuming that you are fighting SP Grineer
There are better ways to build Nukor if you aren't fighting SP Grineer/Corrupted, but IMO you don't really need to think about your build too much if you are fighting non-armored factions

High explosive weapons do work well too with Galvanized Scope for some reason. For example, with the Stahlta, if you aim for the roof of a room instead of the angry mob, you're almost guaranteed to get all 5 stacks for it instantly. Aiming for a head in the middle of the crowd somewhat works too, but it's less reliable (still useful for refreshing stacks after maxing it though)
Against infested it's even better, you just aim anywhere and immediately get headshot kills, I don't even know why

    Question regarding Status Overload mods…
When you say it is worth using on primaries with 8 or more procs, does the mod count each stack as a unique proc? For example, does having 10 stacks of viral count as 10x according to the mod? Or 1 because it is one unique status?

    • @TheKengineer
      @TheKengineer  2 роки тому

The *mod* scales damage off unique procs. One heat proc and twenty heat procs will give the same damage boost via the status overload mods.
My point of 8 procs, combined with an appropriate spread of damage types, is to ensure you'll be landing enough unique procs *on average* to make the mods worthwhile. I'm not suggesting you need to get 8 unique procs going, nor do the mods count you having more than 1 stack of any given status.

The main effect triggers/resets on any headshot while the on kill effect requires well, kills. Maybe it just loses all stacks if the main effect runs out (i would test it myself but i hate arbitrations so im not gonna farm for mods i most likely wont use)
edit: 10:33 from what i understand thats based on firing 2 shots, and since we r talking about the tennet diplos it will take waaay more than 2 bullets to kill a steel path/arbitration enemy (since the mods are unlocked via arbitrations im using it as a basepoint), where you may just get 3 procs at your 3rd shot and need 15 shots to kill the enemy, in this case losing that initial damage bonus from hornet strike is basically nothing

Is it good to remove serration for weapons or are those types of mods (hornet strike, etc.) required in all builds regardless. • @TheKengineer

Serration and Hornet strike can be removed from a weapon if you have a suitable maxed out weapon arcane (Eg Primary Merciless), or if the weapon will apply *significant* status procs to a target before the target dies and you're using the status overload mod.
Without the arcane or high status application, the base pure damage mod should still be used.
If in doubt, give it a try! Worst case is you fail the mission, right? Then you try again.

I'm pretty sure after my own testing that what you are saying at 7:55 about the first shot damage is incorrect if your weapon has multishot which kind of invalidates everything you say and calculate afterwards. I tried it out with the Kuva Brakk and closely watched my individual bullets damage numbers on first shots without applied status effects. Apparently with multishot on weapons galvanized shot can increase your damage even on the first shot. The individual bullets seem to get processed sequentially.. if say your first bullet procced a status effect your remaining bullets do more damage. So with multishot weapons, especially high multishot and status weapons or even weapons with guaranteed procs these CO mods do in fact increase your first shot damage too, although of course less than it does on the second shot with every bullet getting the complete bonus damage..
