I’m 17 days sober after drinking a pint every night for 13 years!! People in the comments are right, you have to get past the boredom, withdraws and your mind telling you, you can drink now, you have a handle on it. Spending $700-900 a month between the wife and I. All lies! So happy to be sober. Pray for me!!
@@SamEspen Good morning SamE, I'm gratefully still sober. Getting to know myself, wife and son better. My wife drank with me for 13 years and got sober at the same time. Not from us trying to do it together. Once I quit I think it just made it easier for her to do the same. But I left that up to her. There is a lot to be said about being sober and realizing things you don't care for anymore. Career choices, going to gatherings, specific people etc... I hope you guys are doing well too!!! Thanks for reaching out!
Hello everyone! I've been 13 months sober and I am feeling fantastic! I'm really proud of myself. I never thought I'd be here. A year ago I thought it would be SO cool if i made it to a year. And now I'm there. 🤗
Finally was able to get into the right mind set to quit drinking! The first 5 days are the worst because of the detox, boredom and not being to sleep but now I feel great and mentally much happier and able to think cleary, 12 years of drinking everyday was killing me physically and financially, never again.
Let's gooooo Jim!!!! Now it's time to preserve that momentum and not give in. So many people go back to drinking because the "start to feel good again". It's a mental trap because YES your body can heal, and YES you can feel better. A less determined mind will think, "well that wasn't so bad, I can just quit then anytime and feel good again"...which will lead you straight back into binge drinking for months on end. Stay the course 🙂🙂🙂
Good for you brother! Yes the first few days suck with the withdrawals and feeling so bad and not being able to sleep even worse. Thanks to this channel really helped me through my detox helped keep my mind off the pain and helped pass the time. Keep it up bro
Finally reached my 100 day's!! Never thought i would do it but with a lot of grit & willpower i got there, just got too take one day at a time until my next 100 day's, watching your video's as helped me to face my demon's! so thanks for that.
@@GettingSoberAgain I don't think i am ready too help others at this present moment in time as i have got a long journey ahead of me, but eventually i would like to buddy up with a few people on this site in an none judgmental way and we could give each other words of encouragement when one of us is in need of it, i think that is my ultimate goal. I gave up smoking 14 years ago and i don't even think about smoking now, so if down the line i could do that with alcohol i would be one happy man, and i would be so blessed to help other's over come their battle's with the demon drink! and thank you for your words of encouragement they really do help!
Just caught this after work. Im going on 2 weeks and still getting back into my daily routine, getting stronger day by day. Thank you for this looking forward to the next episode. Grace and peace to all ❤✌
Sounds like a plan to me! You're better, stronger, faster, more productive, lets keep it going! Let's turn on your light and illuminate the world! Yes...this is a pitch to join the illuminatti LOL
I'll just say that one of the reasons I quit drinking is to reap the financial benefits. I've saved $993 since May, and that's a conservative estimate. I have 2 young daughters to raise. When they finish high school I want to give them the greatest gift a father can give - options and a life free of debt
Thinking ahead to meet your daughters at their best, with YOUR best, is one of the best reasons I've ever heard in the comments. Let's put that WORK in! Its interesting when we think of kids....they didn't ask to be here, but they deserve our best. You never know who you're going to inspire, right???
A new lease on life is something they write about in fairy tails. I hope you keep writing great chapters....and continue to support this channel of course 🤣🤪😇

For me getting sober has not been hard. The hard part is staying sober when I have spent most of my life as a daily binge drinker. My addicted brain is very good at creating situations that are triggers. Also I feel like I have a split personality; the me that is happy to be free of alcohol and the other one that seems to come out of nowhere craving that drink.
Having too many interests is a problem. Drawing, dancing, acting when I was young. Now reading, looking at the internet, news, shopping, you tube, etc. I have stuff to make jewelry, baskets, paint and draw. I took care of my mother with dementia in Texas for 12 yrs till she died. I moved back to CT last year where I had daughters and grandchildren. One daughter and grand daughter drowned last July and I am just trying to make a life again and had to get sober to do that. Also started practicing Nichiren Buddhishm again (Nam M;yoho Renge Kyo) which saved me from a worse alcoholic fate before.. But as they say chant and take action. So I found your channel. Determined to make the rest of my life better. @@GettingSoberAgain
This is really good. Just wrote down the 10 questions. Looks like I got a lot of explanations for each. LOLZ! Thanks for sharing your story, Jae! Looking forward to 3 more parts.
i've been really struggling! watching tipsy at the moment, i feel like im losing the desire to be sober. i want to BE sober but i dont want to not drink. its very contradictory.
i may need to stop looking at it as all-or-nothing... i can decide to drink again anytime i want; the decision not to drink NOW does not have to be a committment and does not mean i can never drink again. its just a decision i am making for myself right now. im never drunk during class or work because i am capable of putting a limit on it. maybe i need to look at "one day sober" as an obligation similar to work and class. what i mean is, i avoid drinking before class by thinking "i can just drink after." i think i need to stop viewing each time i drink as the Last Time, because the reality is that i WILL probably relapse again. i dont know if ill ever have the ability or inclination to remain completely sober and i am tired of feeling shame about that. anyway, realising i can drink whenever i want may decrease the urgency i feel each time i relapse. i end up drinking more than i planned because i think of it as "the last time". and that makes me want to go all out. but thats terrible for me. i also am motivated to "get rid" of alcohol (by drinking it) so i wont have it around the next day, so ill stay sober. but... i think i need to focus on my own decisions instead of obsessing over creating an environment where i cant relapse. i need to create a life where i dont feel like i need alcohol. if i simply make alcohol inaccessible ill turn to different unhealthy habits. anyway... ill just post this now. sorry its so long
I feel you. I wasn't ready until I was 39. I really hope you don't also spend the next 18 years of your life and tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars on booze like a lot of us have. Until you really start asking bigger questions, like: what is alcohol doing for me that I don't have in my life You may not come to a rational conclusion. Thanks for sticking around. You are missed
my struggling is reminding me of things i learned in psychology class in high school: - negative things arent as effective as positive things; aka, saying "ill stop drinking" wont work as well as "the next time i want to drink, my goal is to instead take a little extra time and make a little extra effort to do something else i will enjoy just as much" i need _plans_ for filling up my life with stuff besides alcohol. i need to be prepared. but i dont really know how to prepare
