I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m a pain patient in recovery (low dose of Suboxone now). I have a 22 year old son in rehab for Fentanyl. I heard Kratum can help but I was also scared. Like you, I am on Suboxone low dose because like her son, I was legally prescribed strong medication when it wasn't needed. I didn't know any better. God Bless this mother.
The cycle of addiction, the drug progression, opiod perscriptions, tolerance, hassle of obtaining treatment and proper meds. This lady hit it all right on the head! Its something almost all addicts deal with. Her story is so sad but its the same blueprint of addiction unfortunately.
I'm not there yet. He is also type 1 diabetes. He's on bad drugs. And I can't stop him. He's not eating properly. He feels it's to late to turn back. To him life has stop turning. I'm so tired 🙏😔😔
"If you don't take care of your body with diabetes your body shuts down". Can he take accountability. Drug use is a choice. It's no one's fault. My son is an addict because he chooses to do drugs. He tried the "it started when my arm was broken and tbey gave me those pain pills" No one made him continue to do drugs. Once he knew he had a problem it was his responsibility to say something. He did what he wanted to do and now he is dealing with the consequences. He know right from wrong. I know he does because I taught him. I am so sorry for your loss, and thank you for sharing your story.
As an addict who is now sober and recovered, I understand where you’re coming from. However, it’s not that easy to just “say something” when you start to notice you have a problem. You feel a deep guilt and don’t want to worry/hurt/anger your loved ones. The drug completely takes control over you. It feels like you have a choice to stop using but it is so unbelievably hard. It really is not that easy to get help and trust me I felt so guilty and like an absolute horrible person for being an addict. It took me a very long time to not fully blame myself but in the end it is not fully my fault and it was not fully his fault. Yes we had the choice to keep using but if any of us knew how it would turn out in the end we would’ve never made that choice. We are all just hurting and trying to numb the pain.
@elip241 I hold myself to a high calling. I knew smoking cigarettes was wrong. I did it anyway, git hooked, and now I alone am sleeping with the health problems. I started it, and no one can stoo it but me... period
I'm a recovering opiate addict and I have to say that it was the most intense experience of my life. You can't explain it to anybody that hasn't been through it. Your brain it's basically short circuiting.
People just dont understand that when your in constant pain somtimes you just want to go to sleep and not wake up just for some relief .unfortunately herion does give that pain relief but its just a slow killer .
I wish this lady all the best keep strong . I’m going to start and make a few videos on how I recovered from a 18 year drug addiction ie heroin crack cocaine sleepers Xanax etc etc etc . I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m a recovering person who struggled with Opioid Use Disorder. You are entirely correct that words matter (I don’t use the word “addict”). I’ve lost many friends to accidental overdoses. And, stigma prevents many people from getting treatment. People with Substance Use Disorder also internalize the stigma and feel worthless. I hope you don’t mind that I’m going to correct one thing you said. You referred to Suboxone as synthetic (which it is) but implied that other painkillers are not synthetic. Narcotic painkillers can be non-synthetic meaning they come naturally from opium (from the poppy plant). These painkillers are referred to as opiates. But, there are also man-made or synthetic painkillers like Fentanyl (referred to as opioids). There really is no difference between opioids and opiates that are intended to treat pain. They work to treat pain. But, they also get you high. Whether a painkiller is synthetic or not is not very important. Suboxone and Methadone are both synthetic opioids. However, they are very different from other painkillers (opiates or opioids) because regular users of opiates and opioids don’t get high from them. Suboxone is a combination of buprenorphine (an opioid) and naloxone (which blocks the effects of opioids). But, the naloxone is only activated if you try to inject Suboxone. The reason Suboxone doesn’t get you high and prevents you from getting high from other opiates and opioids is that the Buprenorphine fits into the brain’s opioid receptors, but it doesn’t fit perfectly. Drugs like heroin, Vicodin, OxyContin fit into those receptors perfectly, thereby stimulating them and producing Euphoria. Suboxone fits into the receptors enough to prevent withdrawal and cravings but not enough to get a regular opiate user high. Also, it strongly binds to the receptor so if you were to take heroin after taking Suboxone you wouldn’t get high. The reason it’s difficult to get Suboxone is that our stupid lawmakers decided that doctors, who can (or, at least, could, prescribe Fentanyl (which is the cause of most overdose deaths in the current opioid epidemic) have to take an 8 hour class before being allowed to prescribe Suboxone and they can only prescribe it to a limited number of patients. Methadone is also a synthetic opioid that is used to treat Opiate Use Disorder. Regular users of opiates don’t get high from it (I’m not sure why but I would guess that it’s due to the fact that it’s very long acting. If Methadone is being used to treat addiction, only a clinic can prescribe it. Suboxone doesn’t work to reduce pain but Methadone does. And, when being used to treat pain a doctor can prescribe it from his office. It seems to me that it would have made sense for a doctor to prescribe Methadone to your son - it would have treated both the pain and the addiction. I didn’t know your son but if you believe he overdosed accidentally I trust you. What happens to many people is that they overdose due to a lack of education. You were talking about plateaus and how the body needs more and more. Th e technical term for that is tolerance. Your body gets used to the drug and you need more and more to get the same effect. But, when you stop using for even a few weeks your tolerance drops. Most people who accidentally OD do so because they don’t realize this and they go back to using the same amount they used to use. But, since their tolerance has dropped their body can no longer handle this amount and they overdose. So, they are being killed by a lack of education. I’m sorry for this long, rambling comment. My main point is that I’m really sorry for your loss.
noblebarnsey Thanks. It sounds like you have learned a lot on your journey. I’m in recovery, and am very excited to be starting classes for a CDC (Chemical dependency counseling certificate) this summer!
I think your son was very much the exception and not the norm. God bless you and all your family and those who were close to Kieth. You are doing a remarkable thing now.
I have been on methadone for 18 years & clean from all other Opioids since then.I take Methadone for addiction as well as pain & life has been good for those 18 years.at 51 i am no longer working & lead a quiet life with my 5 year old German Shepherd.I am so sorry to hear about you're child.
1. Severe depression is silent 2. Thoughtless people respond with *_everybody hurts_* and *_everybody suffers_* ... we don't need to hear that stupid useless word ... "everybody." 3. Isolation, indifference, and bullying are the true killers. 4. Starting drugs at a young age especially just to get high sets up a lifetime of affliction whereas older people starting opioids after the age 40 for pain have a much lesser problem with addiction. 5. Mixing *alcohol* with any drug is catastrophic and almost always fatal.
In my humble opinion, I don't think addiction is a disease. Before people go nuts, I am a opiate addict of over 12 years. In my humble opinion, ii think it's related to depression and dopamine depletion in the brain, kind of like add. I accept that if I was to use opiates I would lose control.

😅I suffer chronic pain and I don’t want to take pain medication but as you say, about your son, I don’t want the pain anymore but I don’t want to die. I know I’m shortening my life but I can’t function without them. The pain takes over my life and I need to be a grandmother and mother, so I take the pain medication.
More people need to try to have empathy and understanding for the addicts, instead of judging and shaming them. My mother's always said, "you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar". Such a true statement!
NJTrumpGirl said the NJTrump girl... i’m going to assume that that means you’re a Trump supporter in which case everything you just said in your comment is the total and complete opposite and antithesis of who you elected to presidential offices beliefs and sentiments. who controls the ability for Addicts to get clean if it was up to your elected official and your president because he certainly is not ours, if it was only up to trump these people would just die he’s made that very clear over and over he has called addiction a weakness not a disease and doesn’t think the government should assist people in getting clean he has referenced the term survival of the fittest several times. You might want to re-think your decisions or at least your UA-cam handle. Sad for you
I think she still has not accepted that her son was an addict. She is making excuses for him. If he took care of himself he would have felt better. I am an addict BTW...
Of course she did accept that he became an addict. However, it’s important to notice her criticism of how kids are put on strong painkillers by medical doctors without any responsibility towards its consequences. My child had a minor head injury and as a result he ended in ER for terrible headache. The nurse said that they would administer morphine. I was shocked and she said that was a common procedure. I said NO! Once, I tried morphine and …hm… never forgot the feeling knowing that I never want to try this drug again because it’s excellent, but for dying people. The medical community in the US has a lot to answer for. Nothing is regulated, nobody is responsible and we live in hell. Not to mention that there is hardly a place in developed world with worse health care.
We didn't lose my brother. He committed suicide. It's a phone call you never want. 10 years now. You never get over it. All you can do is try to block it. Then move on.
Compassionate care forgiveness of our selves . I’ve been in a cycle for years & I just blame myself then use because I blame myself eg the definition of madness “ to do something over & over again & expect a different result
No matter when, where or how it started, I guess. The thing is that he developped it and was trapped and crept by it. Maybe what you're actually noticing is ver grief for losing him. I mean, who would like to see their kid completely paralyzed in pain?? Dude, that part sounds like a real life nightmare! 😱
What does the amygdala register? Fear is the main emotion that the amygdala is known to control. That's why your amygdala is so important to survival. It processes things you see or hear and uses that input to learn what's dangerous. If you encounter something similar in the future, your amygdala will cause you to feel fear or similar emotions.
been there. with opioids it is possibly to go cold turkey. not fun but you'll live and then you must live with your source pain. this is my situation, i'm the " back pain guy" and must adjust to thrive. seems society teaches us we should expect no pain from anything but in fact some of us are destined to be in pain. you can live with it. now, if you are addicted to benzodiazepines you are in real trouble so all you opioid addicts out there, buck up, go thru a week to 30 days of nasty withdrawals then live with the pain

i remember i used to get so mad at my bf for taking subs and called him all types of names for not just stopping. i fell like such an asshole now. i’ve apologized profusely since. he was literally trying to get better and stop using that was his way of bandaging the wound and i should’ve stood beside him
Wow.. I’m glad you realize now but what the fuck. Subs saved my life, what a horrible thing to get mad at someone for. I hope your bf is doing well and kept taking suboxone as needed, how sad.:(
So why did he not talk about his problems? My guess is his mom wanted to have a ''positive'' environment, so all talk of negative feeling was softly but surely made taboo. Women have a way of doing that.

Who paid for all this? My brother killed himself to. I feel your pain. Its hard. Once they begin down that RD. Sometimes you cant help. Take care of yourself.
But she did say he suffered from feelings of isolation because of his disease. I believe physical pain can be intensified when one is already depressed and in emotional pain.
This is so sad. Here in Australia, they seem to have halted an opiod epidemic by, in Feb 2018, they took all codeine products off over the counter & made them prescription only. Also doctors are being taught that opiates are not the best course of action for pain. It's so addictive. I myself got addicted to Endone after an operation, what the US would call Vicodin, & it took about 3 yrs to get off it all. I would doctor shgop, about 5 different doctors. We can't do that now, which is good, because all medications are in real time now with QScript, so it shows if you've got a script anywhere else. My daughter is now an anaesthetic doctor specialising in pain & said there are better forms of pain relief.

@elip241 I hold myself to a high calling. I knew smoking cigarettes was wrong. I did it anyway, git hooked, and now I alone am sleeping with the health problems. I started it, and no one can stoo it but me... period
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thank God, there is a better life upon his return! No tears, pain, nor death. Thank you 🙏for reaching others lives.
I'm a recovering opiate addict and I have to say that it was the most intense experience of my life. You can't explain it to anybody that hasn't been through it. Your brain it's basically short circuiting.
Absolutely and when people like above your comment put unnecessary remarks it is infuriating. God Bless this mom!!!!
Only thing that worries me is that the people out within the UK 🇬🇧 understand what I’m saying. The Scottish accent is hard for us Scots to understand ..
I hope you started your channel, and didn't let your accent hold you back
Fk drugs choose Life Fk drugs .... I will understand your accent!! I'm just starting a home detox to get off smack & street Valium right here in Scotland !!! With this lockdown I'm 🙏🏻 this is my time to get clean after almost 20 years of Heroin addition 💔
My main point is that I’m really sorry for your loss.
noblebarnsey thanks for this! Knowledge is power and I appreciate the context
Bella Scott Thanks!
noblebarnsey Thanks. It sounds like you have learned a lot on your journey. I’m in recovery, and am very excited to be starting classes for a CDC (Chemical dependency counseling certificate) this summer!
I applaud you for sharing your story and your pain and using it to affect positive change in others
Thank you for sharing your story. very much appreciated.
I think your son was very much the exception and not the norm. God bless you and all your family and those who were close to Kieth. You are doing a remarkable thing now.
I believe in each and every word of yours.God bless Keith.I wish I could have met him .
Yes
My heart goes out to u its not ur fault bless ur heart and ur son may he rest in peace im sorry
In my humble opinion, I don't think addiction is a disease. Before people go nuts, I am a opiate addict of over 12 years. In my humble opinion, ii think it's related to depression and dopamine depletion in the brain, kind of like add. I accept that if I was to use opiates I would lose control.
You literally just described a disease.
It's so good that you are speaking it's like catharsis.Hearing your story makes me numb.I wish I could help you.I can understand the inner pain a mother goes through.Deb God be with you.You are a great mom.
How very tragic:(
I was put on high benzodiazepines, narcotics- both sleeping pills & opiates- & im now quite concerned.....thank you 4 sharing, my heart hurts with yours
Jade Garner how are you now ?
Did you manage to get off these benzos?
Benzodiazapines are harder to get off than Opioids.than you got Opioids on top of that.If you ever have to go off both you have Hell to look forward too, good luck to you.
@@cyrillayman7431 ur best bet would b to try to check urself n2 in patient rehab. Benzo Detox could be deadly. I've been thru it & it's bad & one does need medical detox help. Those seizures can b deadly!

23:17 Australia , just wanted to tell you thank you because you have lit a fire inside me to strive even harder to help and understand my Son. I would love to do exactly what you are doing. I pray to The Lord Jesus that he blesses your work and you reach thousands 😢❤🙏
This woman gets it 🔥🔥❗❗
Heartbreaking 😢.

Stay a proud, loving mother & best of luck with your young mens home ❤
God bless you. Thank you for sharing your story and sorry for your loss.
Thank you. Praise the Lord for you and what your doing.
This mom is hurting so badly. Please show Grace.
I have 21 days. It's hard ,but worth it
johnnypools how’s it going now?
Key elements of the extended amygdala include not only neurotransmitters associated with the positive reinforcing effects of drugs of abuse, but also major components of the brain stress systems associated with the negative reinforcement of dependence
I understand. Chronic pain is terrible. People I know don't want to be pain meds daily.take care
Beautiful said ❤️💫🙏
More people need to try to have empathy and understanding for the addicts, instead of judging and shaming them.
It’s true. She’s in denial.
It's actually extremely hard to accept your kid has such a problem, tho. Let alone when they're gone for good.

It seems denial was a survival tactic her family and herself used to cope from her childhood through adulthood.
Deep conditioning.
Thing I don’t understand is when ppl plead ignorance. Information about addictions have been around for two decades.
We didn't lose my brother. He committed suicide. It's a phone call you never want. 10 years now. You never get over it. All you can do is try to block it. Then move on.
I am so sorry for your loss 😢 God bless 🙏
Compassionate care forgiveness of our selves . I’ve been in a cycle for years & I just blame myself then use because I blame myself eg the definition of madness “ to do something over & over again & expect a different result
I have empathy for these ppl but it sounds like she is in denial about the real source of his habit.
agirlandamat what? What do you mean by this statement?
I would say his mother knows him better than we do. God bless her
So you are part of their family? You can't give an opinion like that if you didn't live in the same four walls as them. Zip it.
Denial has been her companion since childhood.
ĺots of nice comments keep helping those in need x
You are the best mother ever. Mine is too. And you are too.
Deb you are a very brave woman.Keith was a good son it's just that this was destined.Remember his nice deeds .You are a hero yourself and a special person of God.lots of love and the nicest words that one can think of .God be with u .I wish I could help you.keep up your blessed work.👍👍
I can help to make the world better. I am a recovering addict and psychiatry survivor and I claim I have discovered the cure to addiction and i can prove the truth is addiction is the psychology of a liar, only liars get hooked and only honesty gets freedom, when the unpublishable truth is published collapsing addiction rates. Humanity are dying because are not honest. I am alone.
Wow what an amazing cure! Good luck telling people that.
LOSING*
William Evins why doesn’t this have more likes lol
This seems rather serious to have such a misspelling. "Loosing"
Misspelling. I love it!
i remember i used to get so mad at my bf for taking subs and called him all types of names for not just stopping. i fell like such an asshole now. i’ve apologized profusely since. he was literally trying to get better and stop using that was his way of bandaging the wound and i should’ve stood beside him
Wow.. I’m glad you realize now but what the fuck. Subs saved my life, what a horrible thing to get mad at someone for. I hope your bf is doing well and kept taking suboxone as needed, how sad.:(
Humans are the biggest danger for an addict thats why I live totally alone.
So why did he not talk about his problems? My guess is his mom wanted to have a ''positive'' environment, so all talk of negative feeling was softly but surely made taboo. Women have a way of doing that.
We support people in the Uk with the same issues. My heart goes out for you all.

Thank you so much for sharing your story only God's love surpasses that of a mother's father of four adult children I will tip my hat everyday of the week but there is no comparison between a mother's love and fathers male bears eat Cubs Mother Bear's runoff males three times their size. All through nature the most fierce creature it's a mother protecting her Young I have four years off of heroin and everyday it's a good day thank you for sharing your story because people always think of the addict but it devastates everyone who loves that attic to and it is a Scourge in our country right now. My mother tried everything to get me help I mean everything Mama truly try all too often the parents get blamed it's not always the parents fault I've got two brothers that work for Boeing sister that's a teacher we were all raised the same I just made bad decisions. Many prayers to you and much respect to you God bless
I kinda wish I could hear his side.
Who paid for all this? My brother killed himself to. I feel your pain. Its hard. Once they begin down that RD. Sometimes you cant help. Take care of yourself.
I wonder if her sympathy and compassion extends to those addicts who DON’T suffer from physical pain like her son?
But she did say he suffered from feelings of isolation because of his disease. I believe physical pain can be intensified when one is already depressed and in emotional pain.
Rhonda Deakin That’s not what I was trying to say with my comment.
What a weird comment
But for the grace of God go I ❤
its the parents that suffer/ addicts are the victims. the persecuted, the victims.
It all starts with one presentation in a doctor’s office.
Opioids have a place but should be low dose , short term and LAST resort.
My sister locks herself into a motel room and drinks continuously for 5 days
"the Ranch" was notorious for sex abuse & eventually closed !!!

Your title is misspelled…. And Kratom causes liver damage and is now a reason people are needing transplants…. It’s on the official list now
Is it directly through kratom or did you use alcohol and bad diet.Just curious hope your doing ok.
It's losing not loosing 😔why can't anyone spell lose and loose right, loose means something is slack. Drives me nuts.
Or "there" instead of "they're". I feel your pain. 😊
Mis spelid don't fret lol.
Sounds like shes in denial of her son being an addict
"When I found out my son was addicted to these narcotics" She literally affirmed that he was an addict several times?
…and an extreme fear of any judging her or her family.
@@Nutmegpyeah but she said it’s a disease. It’s not. It’s abuse of addictive substances. She’s definitely in denial of reality. Also she said she didn’t know what diabetes was, and was scared of it. That’s nonsense.
This lady didn’t know what diabetes was, and was scared of it?
weed & CBD often works ...
Your son was not an addict he was dependent on it not by choice....
Im very sorry, I know you mom did your best, but you are puting his sock,. Too much, your son had you, why to stop? Drugs make you happy,. He was high and Happy. But not you
Your son committed suicide. I'm sorry to tell you that. He knew what he was doing. It was just a matter of time. Get on with your life. Please. My brother did the same thing. You have to let them go. I do every day. You can't live in the past. It killed my family. He was the golden boy. The 1 that chould do no wrong. If it makes you feel better by doing the things you do to keep his memory alive. Great. At some point you will realize most don't care. You have to let them go. Don't do this to yourself. We are seeing thousands of young people take there lives everyday with the drugs. Please try and move forward. You have to let them go. Life is to short.
*too.
The journey is almost over
Now ,the next thing to understand is this was all by design. They made 100s of billions…when caught they were fined 1 billion😅.
Step back …look from OUTSIDE the fishbowl and understand that things…everything happens because it’s wanted…by design …Conspiracy theory, right??? …But, they wouldn’t dooo that !!! Right ? Think again
How do you go from.. I have an uncle that drinks a beer or two too many at parties to... I became a homeless heroin / opioid addict? Just take responsibility for your own actions! Your uncle has nothing to do with it..
I think she was just putting context on her stories about addiction in the same family.
