Yindra Velazquez - Witness in Dan Markel Murder Trials Interview

  • FSU Law Professor Dan Markel was shot by Sigfredo Garcia on 7/18/2014 as a result of a murder for hire. In fall 2019, Garcia and his girlfriend Katherine "Katie" Magbanua were both on trial for Markel's murder. Yindra Velazquez had known both since her high school days and was friends/co-workers with Magbanua. They had both worked for the same night club briefly and later worked at the same real estate office. She was subpoenaed by the State as a witness and testified at the 2019 trial as well as the 2022 trial, when Katherine Magbanua was retried and ultimately convicted of murder, solicitation and conspiracy to murder Dan Markel. In November 2023, Katie's ex-boyfriend Charles Adelson was convicted of murder also. Adelson was Markel's former brother-in-law, and Markel had had a contentious divorce and custody case with Wendi Adelson, Charlie's younger sister. What was her relationship like with Katie & Sigfredo, and what were her interactions with Charlie Adelson and Wendi Adelson like? What was it like to become involved as a witness in a murder case and testify against her friend? In this almost three-hour long interview, Velazquez answers many questions as a friend who had no idea a murder plot was going on. She works as a title insurance agent and paralegal for a real estate law firm and plans to go to law school.
If you would like to help Yindra with her expenses after her house was recently flooded in June, here is the GoFundMe link:

👏👏👏 Judy this was a great interview. To think Yindra was in that hotel room fearing for her life. I would not put it past Charlie attempting to get rid of a witness. He did tell Katie he wanted to kill the undercover agent. I’m sure Yindra still feels sad for Katie’s kids. She did care about Katie at one point. She was a good friend. What makes me angry at Katie ( Although she did not deserve ) is that she could have walked away free. She would be with her children. She would have brought justice for Dan and his family sooner. Somehow, I think Katie still had romantic feelings for Charlie. One of the reasons she didn’t cooperate. She may have thought if she wasn’t convicted, he would go free. They would both be out & she would always have a connection to him & his $. Best wishes for Yindra. I hope she achieves her goals.

Omg I’m so glad I e discovered you Judy🙌❤️🙌 I’ve spent my past two nights watching your interviews, once again I could listen to your guest Yindra all night! ( I’m a permanent nightshift nurse so always on nightshift mode on nights off) Yindra is one incredible intelligent lady! A breath of fresh air to listen to! I really believe she will get into law school and become an amazing lawyer one day! Her life experience will only enhance her mind for this field🙏🙏🙏 I was a sales assistant for M&S fur 15 years along with bar work at night then did my HND fit beauty therapy aged 30 and qualified aged 33, loved it then went to university to do my nursing degree aged 41, qualified aged 44, worked 102 hours a week juggling placements, university and nursing assistant with nurse bank as well as taking beauty therapy clients every single night to keep paying bills etc, Yindra has all the qualities to make it as a lawyer, non judgmental attitude, life experience, loved listening to her and off course you Judy🙌❤️🙌 I feel sad what happened to Dan Markel💔his children, his family, I also feel sad for Katie’s kids 💔gutted that Katie ruined her life and destroyed hers and the markels over those entitled Adelsons! I understand Yindra about the hate thing, I do hate Donna though as she was definitely the mastermind manipulated along with Wendy and pray both of them are put away for the rest of their lives 🙏loved every bit of this interview ❤love from Glasgow Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Yindra was the most honest matter of fact person who testified in this trial. Even though she was friends with KM she didn't evade or minimize because of their friendship. WA has more sense than to talk about the conspiracy to anyone, while CA encapsulated his family to keep them as far away from the crime as possible, the only reason CA and DA were indicted is because of their phone calls had they not spoke on the phone the only people who would have paid for it would have been KM SG & LR. It is unbelievable that KM never thought about what would happen if they were caught. She didn't do anything to use as leverage in case their murderous plot is revealed, no tapes of CA talking about the murder, everybody just knew there were tapes or some type of an insurance policy to fall back on to save herself from LWOP. Unbelievable that the only person taping CA's conversation about the murder was the FBI when KM should have been doing the exact same thing. She knew they were closing in on her after the bump, anyone who had a functioning brain would of been doing their best to start damage control. KM was the only person offered full immunity 3 different times and did not decide to talk until she was convicted and sentenced to LWOP, then we find out she had nothing worth saying, no recordings, nothing to add that would be of value to law enforcement. After all the hoopla over KM talking to the detectives then finding out she had nothing to add because she was so stupid not to collect any evidence against CA the chances of her getting any sort of deal is slim to none, if she gets anything it will be instead of LWOP she will receive 60 years with a chance at parole after serving 55 years.

I don’t judge her for not talking but I just don’t believe imo she didn’t know something was going on..she confirmed it when she slipped and was saying how Sigfredo knew she wouldn’t speak… tried to clean that up then said it again he saw my depo he knew. The woman watched her kids the night of money drop!! I’m a girl and I have friends that are my ride or die! Those girls know me better than even my husband they hear all my secrets. We question eachother we know when something is up or different. Even if one of us is respectful or whatever she said she is… nope we know eachother better than anyone and we know when someone is doing something fishy.. and we ask! She never had her kids overnight and you didn’t sense something?! Ok ya! Lol but I get it she didn’t do anything and didn’t want to be involved. Remember she was around Katie during all the tapes calls with. Charlie… there was a lot of time before Sigfredo was arrested alot was happening and they were still around eachother. To point she was going to Disney right before he was arrested It’s just hard for me to believe thinking back to those calls and all that was going on her bff didn’t know something was up.

I think it's very possible she knew nothing. They weren't going to pay any of the money so why get her involved? Katie told her she was going on a date with Charlie and that's why she need the child care I don't see anything wrong with that. I think you are thinking to deep into it. Also Yindra wouldn't do what Katie did and risk it ALL but instead for not 1 dollar I don't think so
