  • How to Fix Spool Slipping Issue on Daiwa Baitcasting Reel in Cold Winter Weather! If you tie your line onto your spool via a cinching style knot, depending on line material and diameter, it may become loose during the winter time and you will not be able to reel up your line. This is because the cold temperature will shrink the spool so slightly. So braided line folks may run into this issue where the wrap around the spool become loose. The fix is simple, you just spool yourself and tighten back up that knot and reel back up. Easy Peasy!

      Thx. Glad u like it. I found out a good amount of folks run into this issue as well and many also thought it was the drag. But when I thumbed my spool and reeled.. It felt odd. So I looked closer and was like wow... The spool was still spinning 😂

    Helpful video. Took my reel apart five times, trying to fix what I thought was a greasy drag or misaligned gear issue. Watched your video and decided to check if I had a backing or not. Straight braid. Tied up a mono backing and was good to go. Thanks for the helpful tip.

      @@adamlee1832 glad you have found it useful! adding a tad bit of backing will certainly help for deep spools. the only time i don't use it is for bait finesse reels. the super shallow spools seems to not get impacted with the super thin PE lines! cheers!

    Thank you for posting this video. I had this issue before, but I fixed it by adjusting the drag. But that didn't fix it this time on my Daiwa. This video and your way just helped me a lot.

      sometime it is certainly a drag issue and replacing that would work. I tried that and it didn't work, so i figured it was the line slipping. but mannnn i bought a new washer kit lol...

    Great tip! Wish I would’ve known sooner before I sent in my okuma reel to get fixed for this exact reason. Luckily the shop I bought it from replaced the reel for a brand new one.

      Yeah there's a reason why some folks say use backing or tape, especially with some spools that are hard to thread through ports or doesn't even have ports. But I wasted money on two drag washer kits lol. But I did wear out my stock one badly from 2 seasons of fishing, so it was time to do it!

    Jimmy I had the same problem w my Shimano reels doing that. How I fixed mine was if u use straight braid use mono as ur backing so it doesn't slip. Also use a little tape to hold the knot u tied to the spool.

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  2 роки тому

      Yep, I would consider that as a work around rather than a fix. I don't use tape or backing so I guess I have to empty the spool 😂. I normally don't use this reel during the fall and winter. It's my frogging reel

    Even without cold temperatures this can happen especially with thick braid . I had the same issue but putting a small amount of fc or mono backing on 1st stops any slipping

    Do you have a mono backing on the spool?

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  2 роки тому +1

      Neverrrrrrrrr! And Thats why i have said for those who spool their reels up a certain way. I often use shallower spools, thus backing can suck. Especially if I aleady spool myself casting. This is my frogging reel and I ended up using it for winter for a bit as I was lazy lol. But normally this does not happen

    Thou unrelated. Always wanted to ask. Is bfs casting different from bc?

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  2 роки тому

      doesn't really change much in my opinion. what changes the most is really power. But with the more lighter and shorter and flexible rods, it may sound like you can do additional things like flip cast, flick cast, spiral cast etc, but technically, all those stuff are doable standard BC reel size given with the right rod combo.

    • @Sanotsuke
      @Sanotsuke 2 роки тому

      @@rawrfishing oh I see lot of them use the flexibility of the rod plus lure weight to as a catapult in most of their cast.
      Tried to cast a 5g didn't go really far haha without fearing of backlash xD

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  2 роки тому

      Tuned right and u can cast hard. But the Japanese prefer casting light to achieve distance. If you watch a lot of my videos, usually I explain how I setup my reels for BFS reels. If you follow that method and just put the brakes at half and see if you can slowly cast from 50 percent power to 100.. If you feel like you can cast further, lower brakes and repeat the steps. That will build yuur confidence
