I do hope they ever bring back some of these old maps, or at least regular new one's. The current maps so overplayed they've become boring or even anoying if not frustrating.
Man.... i WANT these large maps. I miss them. I was 10 and played WoT then and remember playing mittengard in my Hetzer, Matildas were sniping from the spawn lol and everyone else! Now im 21 and the game has changed so much...
same man same except I'm older, for me it was south coast, nvm Im also 21, you couldn't have been 10, you were like 13, in 2013/2014 I don't think Mittengard was in game, it was relatively new and only was there for like 2 years
I have so many memories of these maps, both good and bad. They were where I learned to play this game. I actually miss a couple of them quite a bit, including Port. There are definitely worse maps in the game now than some of these. What this video highlights is how bankrupt Wargaming's map-making efforts have become. We get gimmicks and bigger, faster tanks, but no new places to play them. It's one of the reasons that after 10 years, I barely play anymore.
WG removed all fun maps, because they took too long to end. For them, it is better that games are done in 4 minutes, for some reason. Because of that- I stopped paying them money. No more. I have 40+ premium tanks, I paid for yearly prem time, I bought 350 christmas boxes each year- NO MORE!

I don't think so, actually WG don't wanna have to many LT friendly Maps. In old time even in Kharkov LTs can still flank, however right now in airport, berlin.. LTs are totally useless now .
Ha ha, yeah. I remember Icebound driving me nuts in a light tank. Too many bumps to get even close to full speed. It had some great long range shooting positions for TDs though.
I believe they removed many of them to lighten the load on the server. Remember, WG does not give a rats ass about game play quality or what players would like.
Oh man, Komarin. I remember when it wasn't obvious that you could cross the river at other points than just the bridges. It felt good to surprise your opponents when they were unaware of the spot you just used to cross. Edit: Oh, I'm guessing this video is for pc. Some of these maps still live on on console.
I've Played WOT for over 12 years and watched has they've systemically erased all of the character from the maps in their desperate bid to make faster and faster gameplay. The introduction of 'corridors' for Heavies and Mediums that doesn't reflect reality but essentially controls gameplay - barely any room left for innovation or actual tactics. Over the last couple of months alone I've seen a marked decrease in Sniper positions; including the elimination of rocks, bushes and foliage - further reducing the viability of playing anything other then Heavies and Mediums.
My biggest gripe also, as I play a bunch of tds and mediums. No sniping allowed. Can’t have our precious heavys being hurt so rock corridors everywhere.
Swamp is gone??? Dang. I remember a lot of these and honestly the only one I don’t miss as I never really enjoyed it, was Dragon Ridge. Shame Hidden Village is gone too. The one I miss the most is Stalingrad.
Most games end 15 to 1 anyway, so just put all the maps back. This ever elusive """balance""" has never been achieved, and never will. Just let the chaos flow. Even Mittengard for tier X. DO IT.
Of all old maps, the only ones I truly miss, are Sacred Valley and South Coast. S.Valley can easily be added back now, because climbing is basically prohibited nowadays. South Coast was a really nice and fun map and as far as I can remember there was absolutely nothing wrong with it.
Gosh I miss this game. I played years ago and have been on every singe one of these deleted maps. most of them surprised me that it got deleted after i stopped playing.
I really miss Kharkov, swamp and south coast. Maybe someday they learn they can bring them all back when they rework them. Like sacred valley. Just make that hills not climbable. This could be faster than let us test 3 maps to get a year later one of them..

You can tell WG doesn't give a shit about map design. Instead of just removing it for good they should have used their brains to make both sides equal in fairness. But no, selling shit tanks and OP ones (like the BZ 176) is easier to do than putting some backbone into your game.
South Coast is a pretty good map actually, Dragon Ridge is good because is chaotic is trains you to be always aware of what is going on, but if your PC is potato chips then you are going to have a hard time on that map. Frankly speaking the imbalanced map has their own chime in random queues, because in random battles you need to be adaptive of the tank and map you are in + the teammates, I find the modern day world of tanks maps are too balances too predictable every tank is fixed to go in certain place at a certain time. Yes, when everything is fixed and balanced now it all comes down to the player skill and ability but now you have predictable battles instead of actual random battles, hence you don't see the old weird special moments anymore, even world of tanks own RNG show is ended because there is nothing RNG about it nowadays as everything is "balanced" or at least they attempt to do so.
Sadly WG listened to, mainly Russian, whiners and a lot of entertaining maps are lost. I stopped playing WOT because it had become homogenized and pasteurized it is boring! WG in their quest for profit want maps that shorten game time and encourage pay to play. Rotating all the maps, say every three months in a random way, would have been a good option, more challenging , but it was not to be. But hey, if you want a new tank to play, get your wallet out, WG loves you!
South Coast I got a Kamikaze by falling on a T95 with my KV-4, Swamp I got my Patrol Duty in my E-100, and Northwest I got my Kamikaze in my Obj. 261. Good times.
Many of these maps were removed because they were trash or there was only a fragment of them where players went. Hidden Village could be an example-almost no one went to the village, and everyone was fighting on the other side. Dragon's Ridge was similar. Komarin was a giant camp fest and ended in draws more often than any other map. Swamp was similar and Severogorsk too to some extent. I liked North-West and Port, but they were unbalanced. After introducing advanced physics, Sacred Valley was broken as hell, as players on the north base could climb on the mountains and shoot unspotted. I think that the only map I miss from these old ones is South Coast - I had a few memorable battles on that map, my first Ace Tanker in Batchat 25t achieved in a crazy battle :) Even after ten years or so I remembered it :)
The maps were removed because 99% of the players are professional whiners.

Yeah, Mittengard only came in late december 2014, I remember I played on it in 2016

Kharkiv was fun, but hard. Had some great battles there and tried some ridiculous strategies.

In Beta I used to sometimes sacrifice my tank to block the north bridge. In those days wrecks were immovable.
Bizarrely my all time favourite map, had some great results on it.
I almost do not remember how we played these maps. I have to pause and slowly it comes back for some maps.

Wrong we tested 9 maps in year or two and we got only Japan Harbour, Pearl river and nothing more. Last map were aded year ago....
