I really enjoyed Sacred Valley and Stalingrad, had some epic games on Windstorm and Minsk, and Mittengard was always a fast fun free-for-all. Would love to see all of them back!
This brings back so many WOT memories! I miss all of them but especially Swamp, Windstorm, Stalingrad and Sacred Valley. I actually loved the chaos of Mittengard as well! Would love to see them all back!
All maps except Port, Severogorsk and Mittengard would be nice to have back. most of them were pretty open in terms of maneuver warfare(a lot of possible approaches) and the memories made on these maps... Nostalgia hits hard 🥲
Good memories of these maps. Some I had even forgotten. I think that currently there is very little variety of maps, I think they should be rebuilt, remastered and included all back in the game.
Fair... and I agree about your point with regards to "variety". That being said, if we look back objectively and disregard the last two excluded maps (which were removed for political reasons, after all, and I am STILL surprised that they didn't simple re-name them), most of them would be god-awful in terms of balancing.
Hidden Village was sort of cool because it was so different. It was WoT's first corridor map. They removed it pretty quickly because it turned out to be really bad, and then just made all the other maps corridor maps.
Its sad how many maps they have removed and not brought back, these maps we have were some of the most boring that they left in. Kinda sucks to see these old fun maps they removed! Thanks Dez!
The maps are one big reason why many players left the game or are heavily discouraged. The problem the game has with the maps now is that they are stale, unimproved, and poorly designed. The laziness of the WG map dept (one part timer on vacation) is apparent when you observe the amount of unplayable areas on any given map.
Tbh, I miss every single one of them. My all-time favorite was Northwest, because of the great heavy and medium tank brawls in the South/Southeast. Stalingrad, Dragon Ridge, Severogorsk, Hidden Village, and Sacred Valley were also some that I loved. Quite a few meme-worthy moments and fun stories occurred in my games on these maps. I wish WG would bring them all back in some shape or form.
You made me miss the good old days when you were facing almost only tech tree tanks, premiums weren't OP at all (slightly less efficient than tech tree but preferential mm), when battle lasted more than 4 minutes in average, when heavy tanks had armor that you couldn't pen frontally if you were a med or a light (you had to get their sides), but with weakspots that you could pen without gold if aimed correctly (meaning you had to take risks) Miss the 3rd server they opened for some weeks where you could play on a old version of the game (like 2011) 😢
YES, YES, YES!!! Those maps were very much interesting than now! I demand a mode with "unbalanced" maps for players who love them! What a fun that was ... I miss them very much!
Some of these maps were much more interesting and playful and there was also a lot of fun to be had from the "unbalancedness": On the weaker side it didn't matter if you lost, but it was a challenge to win anyway! And on the stronger side you had the reassuring feeling of being superior, but it was a shame to lose anyway, it had to be avoided at all costs. There were always surprises on the huge maps and clever and witty players could often surprise the opponent, which was a lot of fun! It wasn't for very good players, it pushed the winrate down to around 50%, but it was great fun for most players! Therefore: please WG, introduce a new mode for "unbalanced" maps!
Sacred Valley, Windstorm, Stalingrad, and Kharkov are all maps which I would love to see return someday. If I had to just pick one though, I would go with Windstorm, as it is highly unique due to having a asymmetrical layout and was just fun to play in any class of tank. Would also like to say that if Kharkov ever returns, I would prefer it to be reworked to be more similar to the original map layout, as the amount of side streets in the city made it extremely fun to fight in, so I was very disappointed when the HD version removed them and also made the city smaller.
Komarin, Severogorsk, South Coast and especially Sacred Valley from the time with no invisible walls and Stalingrad, all great maps imo and I miss them a lot
I want Kharkov again... because it was well balanced map in my opinion. Unfortunately can't say anything about older maps as I came back to WoT 2 years ago and from 1st adventure I remember introduction of Czechoslovakian tech tree.
Windstorm was amazing. I had my first mini-kolobanovs on that map. Got like 8 kills with the IKV103 right after I unlocked the derp gun on it. I was sitting on the church hill in the middle and was the last one alive on my team. The enemy kept coming at me one at a time and I correctly guessed where they were coming from each time. Very memorable map.
Loads of great maps that I miss playing. Many were removed before I was particularly experienced, so I likely played badly on them, but I enjoyed them a lot
I miss Port, watching the arties reverse off the whart into the water never gets old, and there were some good battles to be had in the north east corner amongst the hills of stuf there. The bridge could also be fun depending on your tank and the other team. Komarin I also miss a lot, many good battles I had there. I had forgotten about the tank traps that actually worked, too1 :)
I played Beta and used to troll Komarin (I wasn't the only one mind) by driving my BT 7 to one of the bridges as fast as possible, getting wrecked a block the bridge. This was before you could push dead tanks and before they made the river fordable alongside the bridge.
I would love to see them ALL (except for the double Ruinerg and Himmelsdorf) back in game. Together with a better MM please. The preferred map for return would be Sacred Valley.
ALL of them for me, except all-sniper maps and imbalanced win ratio maps. That includes double-tripple Ruinberg and Himmesldorf. variation of seasons is good, even if the map is exactly the same.
I would'nt have noticed they were the same maps at the time. Someone actually had to state that, and then I was like ''They are reusing the same map, hmm, I wonder other things about maps''
... dragon ridge was the most interesting map for me (offerred different strategies, interesting places, etc.), but suffered by a lot of bugs (despite was updated couple of times)...
I have fond memories of most of these maps, I started playing in patch 8.6 right before 8.7 when they added Severogorsk and the E 25. Many good memories. One map I almost forgot was Windstorm and I loved that map. Many, many memories and I would love to see most of these back with some proper reworks. Beats pulling another semi-historical map out of WG's behinds with boring corridor fights.
I liked the multi terrain levels of Dragon Ridge and Northwest. I agree one spawn had an advantage in Northwest, but I still liked the multi-levels of terrain. I also like Windstorm. Many areas for varying tank types to fight.
maps like Northwest now would be great as an assault only map where the stronger cap was the attackers spawn and the less defended cap was the one that had to be captured by the attacking side
I liked Windstorm, Stalingrad, Sacred Valley and Swamp. Fiery Salient was where I had my most embarrassing moment. I spawned in the North in my new AMC ELC bis, immediately turned east, went over the railroad tracks, and jumped into the middle of the river. Broke both tracks, and had forgotten a repair kit. Drowned 20 seconds into the battle.
I basically like all those old maps and I do mis all of those as I used to have much fun playing those. If I had to pick favourites: Hidden Village, Dragon Ridge, Komarin, Hidden Village and Sacret Valley. What I btw never understood is why the alternate themed maps for himmelsdorf etc were removed. It would be cool to sometimes play a map with different seasons setting.
Do you remember nights when the server cluster would load up the themed maps as part of the hour block? Getting essentially the "same" map over and over and over....
@@justinhennessey2329 Well, I never really played much in the late nights so the excessiveness on that for me was not nearly as bad. But even outside of that, the curious thing for me is, I used to not consider that too much of a problem. Also, that has not really changed too much as far as I understood. Out of all the maps we have today, the rotation over a certain period is only a fairly small sample size from the entire mappool.
Sacred Valley was the map on the first video I saw of yours. The utterly hilarious T-95 review with you eating cookies and vacuuming crumbs, all the while waiting for the T-95 to rumble into battle.
Swamp and Dragon Ridge because they were both tough maps to play and took a bit more effort and usually lasted a bit longer. Actually I think they should bring them all back except Northwest for obvious reasons Mittengard and Port because of there size also shouldn't be brought back, this would give us more variety I also think that grand battles should open to tier 6 and above.
Wargaming should do a weekend of old-maps only, in the standard mode, not a special mode. Afterwards we can vote for 3 maps to return (after some tweaks).
I swear even if some of these maps were a bit unbalenced, the game would be like a 100x times better, just by bringing these old maps back. I love and miss them and I am so sick of the current Map-pool. It's unreal how everything feels the same right now
Owh God the memories. Would love to see some of them reworked. I think it would benefit the mappool since we have been playing the same old maps over and over again
Each of them had their strengths, but too many were unbalanced. If they could balance it out, Komarin would be great, though Windstorm, Sacred Valley and Severogorsk would be fun too. I am hoping that we will also get Kiev and Minsk back at some point in time. Great blast from the past.
Idk why but windstorm despite unsymmetrical map, it's quite balanced (everytime I played in that map I never get 15-0 , 15-7 is the worst possible outcome) With each side have different advantage
Sacred Valley, Swamp, Windstorm.... 3 maps that I don't understand why they took them out, especially this last one, the city was very interesting, several different streets, great for ambushing. But what caught my attention in this video were these old images, good memories, in fact it seems to me that the game was better before, today it has improved graphics and everything, but something about that time makes it seem better.
So many maps should be brought back!!! I especially miss Port, it always needed to be bigger (it was a fun fast map), & Dragon Ridge. Swamp, Stalingrad, Hidden Village, South Coast, Komarin (epic map), Severogorsk, Sacred Valley, Northwest, Windstorm, Minsk, & Kharkov should be updated & brought back. Not the firey or snow versions of already in game maps.
I started playing when Dragon's Ridge was in the rotation. Damn confusing! Severogorsk with the hidden Sturmtiger inside a building. My Riley in a KV2. Windstorm saw my Foch 155 Radley carry in the city. These removed maps were reworked several times before deletion. Early Erlenberg, Province (11 kills) and Redshire, are totally unrecognizable from back then, compared to nowadays. Oh how the maps have changed. Murovanka and the Magic Forest, the AT2 dream. Mines & Prokhorovka haven't really changed much. Himmelsdorf is still such a classic but has had some huge changes recently. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Thanks a lot DezGamez for the great memories from when WoT was a great game, any of those removed maps (except for the nonsense duplicate ones) were a 100% better than some of the actual maps in the game.
Except for the ones that were just graphical edits, I'd take any of these over the boring symmetrical maps they saddle us with these days. These maps were actually fun to play. And you forgot the original Provence, it was different enough from the current to be considered as a separate map.
Kharkov will always be my favorite map. The music, the 2 heavy tank lines with risky locations, wonderful medium tank battle spots and great TD/lighting spotting battles in the middle. This map has so many memories and I hope it comes back soon.
Mountain Goating was so much fun. Miss it a lot because it allowed to counter some positions otherwise impossible to counter. Anymody remember Mines when you could climb and from high ground shoot the center hill? Or Winterstorm where you could drive around 3/4 of the map on the mountain range? Swamp also had some nice small climbs to counter regular positions.... Oh my, with they hadnt blocked it all on current maps...
Sacred valley, swamp, stalingrad.. and windstorm.. those were the maps i loved the most... They still have a special place in my heart and they always will
Nice blast from the past. I remember all those maps! Komarin. I really remember getting stuck on the stupid island because no one had a heavy tank to break thru those barriers.
man, I still remember the big f-up that was the first itteration of Dragon Ridge. It was so bad most of the time both teams just agreed to go all mid and duke it out there, including arty.
Sacred Valley and Swamp didn't feel that bad to me - both hard farm spots (especially swamp) but you can't tell me the gameplay on the new Airfield, Oyster Bay, Tundra, Berlin etc are fun?? Stalingrad, Swamp, Sacred Valley, NorthWest and South coast were solid man - windstorm was kinda fun, shame they removed em... kinda sad i can remember every single map
I start playing WG in April 2014 and your video bring back memories when I was playing some of these maps in low tiers tanks (3-5) when I was playing free account. Thank you 👍
Just like that meme with all the kids on bikes in a pic in suburbia, it says; You never knew the last time you’d be all playing together. That happened on all these maps. We never knew the last game we played each other on them 😢 😢😢😢
Thank you Dez for this video! Great to see all of them rounded up. Brings up some memories. I think that all of them, except maps with just other season, should be reworked/balanced and put back in the game.
I'm more in favor to bring back Erlenburg Circa 2017 summer edition. The map had plenty of fun gameplay both east and west of the center town due to many hills and valleys. This new flattened version with an sized up center town is a poor revamp of what was once one of the most fun maps to play
The later versions of Komarin were very fun. they added more cover, lumps, bumps and buildings in the open areas as well as a few more crossings of the river and it was a playground for lights or mediums. the mountain goating on Sacred Valley (and Windstorm) actually got me to buy the AMX Chasseur de chars was great fun until they got deleted.
would love to see most of these maps backs because maps these days just have 3 corridors where tanks dukes each other out and after winning a flank getting destroyed by all of the camping tds in the back.
I have fond memories from almost all of these maps! This was a great video idea for us OG player! Also: I was wondering why Kharkov was removed. I really liked that map!
I remembered playing in both Minsk and Kharkov, they were okish maps. Understandable if they’re removed. Since they’re still small maps that players can be screwed one way or another.
Windstorm, Swamp and Dragon Ridge their unpredictablility was fun. In the endgame you always needed to guess where opponents would be hiding/attacking from. These days most of the maps are: fight here and here and here.. arty is there and most TDs are hiding there. Not to mention the cheater slurs if you as a arty drop shells on the obvious hiding places and hit opponents. Like Prokhorovka, drop your first shell when its loaded on the railroad crossing on either side of the map is almost guaranteed some damage, time it with you teammates crossing that point to make it a bit easier.
Mittengard still has a special place in my heart, back in 2015 I was just having fun with my low tier tanks on this map (I only had tanks under tier 4, I was quite bad 😅)
I remember really missing the Northwest and South Coast. Also good memories from Stalingrad. Swamp was awesome map and there was only one factor causing it unplayable - artillery. In rare battles with no or 1 arty per side it was never ended by a draw to my experience. Arty had powerful shots back then and you had to set yourself open if you wanted to advance, open not only for arty but regular tanks. I still remember a pearl on Swamp, 12 arty per side somewhere around 3am.
I'll say 2 words for each map: Dragon's Ridge - never played it All copy-paste maps - Cheap content by WG Rubinberg on Fire - Night maps in 2015 South coast - TDs were too dominant Severogorsk - was kinda ok for me Northwest - barely remember but didn't like it Komarin - enjoyed it Mittengard - FCM36PAK40 says Hi Port - kinda liked it Sacred valley (latest version) - my most loved map of all times Swamp (latest version) - my #2 map of all time Stalingrad - kinda boring Windstorm - very different, liked it Kharkov - liked the old one better Minsk - was fun and balanced
South coast, hidden valley, swamp, and northwest. I started playing in 2012 and I feel like those were where I had some of my best games. My 1st ever top gun and Ace tank "easy 8" came on swamp
I dont play WoT anymore, but i will never forget one game on Severogorsk! I was playing with TOG II and since the tank is very slow i decided just to drive on the frozen river bed and do whatever i can! Somehow i managed to get to the enemy base without anybody spotting me and capped the enemy base!
I'm too young to remember Port and the original Sacred Valley, but Stalingrad and both Kharkivs were excellent. South Coast and both Swamps not bad either.
Man I miss Hidden Village, my favorite map ever. South Coast was pretty fun too, got my best ever spotting record in my Leopard back when tier 5 scouts could match with tier 10s.
Despite missing out all these maps (started playing in 2019), when I see them I feel nostalgic, and feel like I played on them. Since I missed most of them, my biggest sadness is Minsk and Kharkov, I loved both of those maps and really hope they return to the game after real world events end.
Hopefully you enjoy this little memory trip. :)
Let me know which map you would like to see coming back the most and why?
Sacred Valley, it could be played by all classes and I enjoyed it a lot.......even when I didn't understand all the game mechanics yet :)
You forgot Minsk 😮
Possibly all of them, because they were/are part of our life and part of (old and better) World of Tanks!!! ❤

This was amazing. Brought tears to my eyes
What a trip down memory lane dez, I remember all of these maps, and I would love to see them all back in the rotation
Except for the ones that were just graphical edits, I'd take any of these over the boring symmetrical maps they saddle us with these days. These maps were actually fun to play. And you forgot the original Provence, it was different enough from the current to be considered as a separate map.
I remember all of those, that's crazy how these maps are just gone forever. Great video idea btw!
That brings back a lot of memories. I was in an entire different place in my life back when I played on those maps
Even just renaming a few maps an possibly changing a couple of buildings & statues would give us more maps..
Kharkov will always be my favorite map. The music, the 2 heavy tank lines with risky locations, wonderful medium tank battle spots and great TD/lighting spotting battles in the middle. This map has so many memories and I hope it comes back soon.
Port was one of my favorites. Loved the big bridge. I really miss that map
I want all of them back to be honest.
Simply because of the strong nostalgia.
So many battles fought on these maps.
Reworked if necessary of course.
I miss climbing the mountains on windstorm. Most fun I've had in the 6 years I've been playing
They still have a special place in my heart and they always will
WOW Dez...these maps sure bring back memories.
Nice blast from the past. I remember all those maps! Komarin. I really remember getting stuck on the stupid island because no one had a heavy tank to break thru those barriers.
Imagine removing These maps but leaving airfield
All of them were very beautiful maps. I still hope this maps will return in the game very soon.
The maps were so much better and more memorable especially when invisible walls weren’t predominant in the game
yes!!! so many of those walls that if felt like back to 7.6!
I think South Coast is actually overlooked a lot, I liked that map
Amazing, although I had lots of breaks between playing I still remember every map
I will never forget, Hidden Village was where I had my first "dramatic" game :D It was a 2 vs 6 situation which we overcome, both of us surviving :)
man, I still remember the big f-up that was the first itteration of Dragon Ridge.
I loved all old maps. They were a soul of wot.
I start playing WG in April 2014 and your video bring back memories when I was playing some of these maps in low tiers tanks (3-5) when I was playing free account. Thank you 👍
I remember almost every map, but somehow the winter ruinberg and himmelsdorf hits me the most. Tysm for this vid
Nice trip down memory lane. Miss quite a few actually. Thanks Dez.
oh my god, the memories.. Bring back most of them. Komarin, Windstorm, Swamp, northwest, sacred valley, south coast!
Dragon Ridge was my favourite map, forever in my heart
Just like that meme with all the kids on bikes in a pic in suburbia, it says; You never knew the last time you’d be all playing together.
That happened on all these maps. We never knew the last game we played each other on them 😢
😢😢😢
I forgot about most of those maps, idk what I would want back, but more maps would be good. Thx for the trip down memory lane.
Windstorm and Hidden Village were my favourite maps in the hey day of WoT. Used to have very dominating games as Leopard 1 and STB-1.
ALL OF THEM…i want all of them back to the game
Thank you Dez for this video! Great to see all of them rounded up. Brings up some memories.
I think that all of them, except maps with just other season, should be reworked/balanced and put back in the game.
I just tried out World of tanks for the first time in a couple years and it's so weird seeing all the maps I used to know and love gone
If any of you guys have both pc and console, these maps still exist on console version... Dragon's Ridge, Port, Hidden Village, Swamp and Severogorsk.
I'm more in favor to bring back Erlenburg Circa 2017 summer edition. The map had plenty of fun gameplay both east and west of the center town due to many hills and valleys.
This new flattened version with an sized up center town is a poor revamp of what was once one of the most fun maps to play
I really miss Hidden Village, South Coast, Komarin, Swamp and Kharkov. But especially Hidden Village, one of the best maps ever in my opinion.
Windstorm and Sacred Valley were awesome aswell
Nice joke about Hidden village xD that map was terrible.
Thanks for the nostalgia Dez ✌🏻
I have fond memories from almost all of these maps! This was a great video idea for us OG player!
Also:
I was wondering why Kharkov was removed. I really liked that map!
both Kharkov and Minsk were removed because of geopolitical issues
Minsk and Kharkov were removed when the Ukraine Russia war started.
You know that russia bombs real-life Kharkiv for 1,5 years now, right?
I remembered playing in both Minsk and Kharkov, they were okish maps. Understandable if they’re removed. Since they’re still small maps that players can be screwed one way or another.
They are removed due to real-life war, not because of gameplay. You don't know these real-life cities?
Mittengard wasa great map for arty vs arty back the days. Lovely good old training room battles. :)
Such a beutifull and nostalgic video DEZ specialy when you are playng this game for 12 years it was awesome memory lane 😊😊
Got my first Radley Walters in Dragon ridge. Got damage record of my E50 in Hidden Village. Some of the memories I still remember to this day.
I'll say 2 words for each map:
Dragon's Ridge - never played it
All copy-paste maps - Cheap content by WG
Rubinberg on Fire - Night maps in 2015
South coast - TDs were too dominant
Severogorsk - was kinda ok for me
Northwest - barely remember but didn't like it
Komarin - enjoyed it
Mittengard - FCM36PAK40 says Hi
Port - kinda liked it
Sacred valley (latest version) - my most loved map of all times
Swamp (latest version) - my #2 map of all time
Stalingrad - kinda boring
Windstorm - very different, liked it
Kharkov - liked the old one better
Minsk - was fun and balanced
Kharkov and Windstorm. Just so many memories of playing through the gring on the 360 with these maps.
Komarin... some games would go for over 5 minutes before a single tank on either team was spotted.
