    in terms of ace. i just couldnt get used to em after a year. the previous setup i was accustomed to was an 8.5 fa with indy stage 11 149s. the 8.5 fa has a 14.25 wb.
    eventually i put the af1s on a polar 8.5 which has a 14.375 wb. threw on some risers to match the stg 11 height and some ace hard bushings on the back truck. pretty solid setup. af1s paired really well on an 8.5 limosine as well (14.40 wb)

    I had the same feeling with the Thunders. They felt pretty weird for popping and they turned not good. I could not skate with them on my Santa Cruz-Board. But a couple of days later I skated another board of a friend with the Thunders (board had a wider nose than my board) and on this board they felt really good in every way. So, I think the Thunders are a little bit special. If you have the right board then they are fantastic. If not then they could be your worst nightmare. With the other trucks is that danger a little bit smaller because they create all a shorter wheelbase and the most boards have not a very long nose and tail.

    ACEs are really fun to ride and grind (I can't do crooks anyway so no problem with pinch ;)) + there is much hype on them right now :) From the other hand Ventures are really underrated - they look cool, they are very light, has many variatios (forged/cast baseplate with or without hollow kingpin/axle or both). You can ride them loose and they are still very stable and easy to pop. They have great grind. I love Venture V-lights. Only minus is the lack of stock bushings in the aftermarket. Good choice anyway! :)

      @@daffyduckling6958 I don't complain much about this - I stick to Bones Medium even if they change geometry a bit and last a few month till it collappse. But it is nice to know you can buy exactly the same bushings if you like to stock ones. Totally agree with you saying Ventures are in between indy and thunder. Recently back on Ventures after a couple months on Indy, and would recommend trying them with the top bushing swapped out for a bones top bushing and flat washer. Had this bushing setup on indy's first and really liked it, so I tried it on ventures too. Keeps the center stability and rebound of the barrel bushing, but gives you a much deeper turn/lean when you want it.

      @@jeffli480but be aware using the bones bottom bushing will change the wheel base and geometry of venture slightly, I lost 1mm in true wheelbase and about the same in height. But they carve like a dream now so not fussed lol

    • @jeffli480
      @jeffli480 7 місяців тому +1

      @@NukeEm-w2x I am not a fan of the conical bones bottom bushing - sure it carves, but I feel it tapers too quickly so it makes any truck feel noticeably more unstable at the center and I get a lot more micro wobbles when I crouch down to pop. Even the thunder conical has more of a wide barrel shape before the taper. The height also makes it so you need to pay attention to which washers to use or not to maintain geometry.
      I like to just keep the stock barrel bottom and swap out the top roadside for the bones, along with the flat washer. You get the more stable center and barrel bushing feel, but it still gets a deep turn and snappy rebound.
      That being said, I’m on aces now for quite a while and love it. Haven’t been riding bones bushings at all 😂.

    From my experience: Aces AF1s are the most well built truck and are actually more stable than indy's if you tighten them up a hair. I use krux bottom bushings with ace hard top bushings but the stock top bushings are fine. Ventures are easily the most stable truck but have the least turning capabilities. Thunders are very similar to ventures and in my opinion slightly better with the right modifications. All of them are great trucks but I tend to like thunders for tech and flatground and aces for curbs and transition. It also depends a lot on what decks you like to skate. One last tip is that I highly recommend using the top washers that come with the krux bushings in your ventures and thunders. It improves depth of turn, the pinch, and it won't tear up your top bushings. Yes I have bad OCD with my trucks😂

      That’s what I always thought. That it went Ace Indy Thunder Ventures when it came to the offset of the kingpin geometry 📐 I feel ventures give you stability for street tricks of any sort, hill bombing included. Ace feel great for transition or curbs because those are sharp turning maneuvers. Indy included more like an Ace feels great for transition and curbs and street. To me once I get into thunders it’s best of both worlds better turning capability than a venture with less stability but a lot of lock in control.
      Ventures for me are great because they don’t turn until you need them to on the correct pressure points. So it’s great for ledge tricks rails gaps stairs anything where pop is a factor, they add so much stability when at high speeds, the turning just makes you feel more comfortable. But personally not my preference for skating transition because of the delayed turning style. Which is counter to carvy turns you want in transition not sharp turns that delay until you choose. I did learn to skate transition on Ventures tho.

    Truck Madness is a bitch. And I don't know why but for some reason skaters will have a truck they like and talk shit about every other truck company lol. Even if they never tried anything else. I found any of the "big four" truck companies have redeeming qualities. I have a setup with each of the four on them.
    8.6 chocolate/ with Ace af1 low 60- ace is by far the best turning truck on the and in my opinion, the funnest to ride. However I have noticed the Surfy nature of the trucks sometimes throw off my flip tricks. The tradeoff is worth it though IMO and they MAY be my favorite.
    8.38 FA/ with Mariano 148 thunder team hollows- for me these have the best pinch out of any brand, I am able to hold crooked grinds longer with thunders than any other trucks. They also have a decent turn to them as well.
    8.25 Clutch Distribution blank/ with Indy 149 standards- these trucks are above average to really good at everything, ok pinch, really good turning, nice stability IMO Indy is the super utility player of the truck industry. They are a Jack of all trades but nothing really stands out. They are a very solid all around truck. (Although I do not see myself buying from them anytime soon, maybe when stage XII is released I broke a pair of stage 4s and a pair of stage Xl hollows in a 6th month spand. Quality is slipping!)
    8.25 DGK/ Gilbert Crockett Venture 5.6 standard - I love the stability of these trucks, they don't turn the best but the stability I feel on these outweighs the negative. I also get more pop on venture highs then any other tuck.
    I'm glad I found your channel man, I love seeing this skate nerdery shit. Glad you found your go to truck... For the time being.
