I got a pair or regular ACE AF1´s like 3 months ago and let me say those trucks are awesome, hands down, the turning ratio, the smooth of grinds, i only change the top bushing because i like tight trucks, i am a little obsessed with testing and changing trucks and wheels every 6 months to test different brands, but now i think i wont change to other truck brand anymore, i my opinion are perfect also looked really nice.
I like Aces. I have the lows at the moment and what I did was I kept the top bushing and used the Ace AF1 regular bottom bushings and they are perfect. Love to put a hollow 44 axle on this low hollow baseplate and see what's up. And the clicking sound, I find that when I take the trucks apart and rub all contact points with crayons that it takes any clicking sounds away.
I skate Vans only for over 10 years...they always come with 2 pairs of laces. But i know what you mean. Back in the day you bought stuff at the skate shop and got some free dvd's. good video again
I actually put the bones bushings in at first and they don't won't like they did on the classic. The bottom bushings on the af1 are bigger and it makes the hanger sit low.
The mediums harden up over some time. I got the hollows recently and i'm a 2 thread guy sitting around 175lbs. Hard bushings work well too. I've used 'em on other sets of ACE
The riptide krank bushings fit in af1’s as well if you end up looking for a different option. I think it’s the tall cone / tall barrel that are the right height. I’ve got the 93a set in my af1 77’s and they’re perfect for me. Plus tighten them a quarter turn and they stiffen up nicely.
I love my ace high 55’s. I was 230 last time I was on my board before acl surgery and was riding the stock bushings no threads showing. I like loose trucks but yes it can make flip tricks real difficult which is why I don’t do them. Lol nah I don’t do them because I can’t 😂
I skate the af-1’s with the new hard bushings, and classics with stock bushings. Both are 66’s. I found the stock bushing firm up as they break in and are perfect with no threads showing. The af-1 hard bushing break in nice and actually are softer than the classics now I think. I’m an old big dude too. 6’4 and about 240. Bowl cruiser and slappy guy. Not flipping anything. Not sure I can ever ride other trucks again.
I've been on the Ace train since 2019 before the af1s even dropped and I've been converted ever since but with the harder bushings it def does give a good alternative to the stock ones.
In the back to the future video I did I was riding the AF1 77s. Out the box they were slappy ready. I am a fan of the AF1s I will need to pick up the hallow ones. Great first video on them. Wax the cups because the ACE pivot cuts rip. Stay Rad Sir.
@@KevinNiceTry It's funny cause I've been skating some silver trucks that I got and I like them. Sometimes it's fun to try different stuff but you've got to beware of the madness 😆
Just go them too. I'm like 115 pounds, and the ace bushings were too soft for me too. The truck would stick to the last way it was skated and not rebound. You can't tighten them to a medium. I love tensor mag light all terrain hollows. Will always be my favorite. But I like the ace hollows with different bushings.
@@KevinNiceTry The tensors will always be my go to truck, I ride different set ups on different days. So I'll still be riding mine. One day I'm weight lifting with a heavier set up. Then back to the light one to try and get higher Ollie's and other tricks. I just put up a short vid of my first session on the Aces. ua-cam.com/video/k6DS7tPDBcU/v-deo.html
Kevin, watching you ride this wide board and heavy trucks is so cool. How tall are you if you don’t mind me asking? Unlocking a new trick on heavy trucks can’t all be the work of Mt Dew!
I loved the tensors but they aren't made to last. My axels bent slightly after I grinded them down a bit. Wish they would do a soild axel. The ace will last forever. They are made like tanks. Haha.
What timing! Been really diggin the Mag Lights atm but just recently have been considering a set of the AF1s...great thorough first review dude! I did notice that when I switched to the Tensors vs. Indys my wheelbase got a bit longer with the Tensors, so maybe the Ace's are more similar in wheelbase to Indys even? 🤔 Also, what risers are you rockin? Got some Krooked 1/8s on my set up rn and that pink looks mighty fine on yours I must say 😎
I have a few threads showing on my Ace’s and don’t really have an issue. I find it actually stops them from clicking like your Tensor’s did, but I’m interested in your opinion on the harder bushings
Great video! I believe the tensor atg mags are 55 now. But my real question is if those bushings are too soft, how in the hell do you skate the tensor bushings?!?! I just switched from indys, where I always used the hard (black) indy bushing but tensor, stupidly, doesn’t offer an alternative. The tensors are so hard to skate for me, any suggestions? I am also a heavier dude too 🤣🤣
@@KevinNiceTry yeah, I was thinking of picking up a set of bones med or hard…. I tried tightening the kingpin to get the desired tightness that I get from my indys but like you mentioned I am not keen on skating trucks like that as well. And found loosening them back to a “normal” setting made them skate better but they are still too loose for me. I love them, but I might need to just have them on a slappy only board…..
Honestly probably not. For the price they don't last very long. I've gotten use to the weight of the aces and I'm happy on them. Plus they will last forever.
@@KevinNiceTry ima try those out, havent skated ventures since i was a kid, i recently got back into skating and i have a pair of slappys now, but i was looking for something lighter. Thanks for the input
The Standard Indie MiDs are heavier than their ’hi’ Standard Stage 11s. Hollows are not heavier though the regular base plate hollows are a bit heavier than the Forged base plate ones but even then they are around 30 grams lighter.
always knew ace is beloved by vert and transition riders but holy fuck if you try to do any sort of flip tricks, the weight even on the hollows just flat out will not cooperate with your feet
Yeah I switched to Venture V-Lights and I'm never going back. The stability has helped so much with flip tricks and manuals. Ace are fun but they hurt my flip tricks a lot.
I think of aces as more street compatible Indys, anyone else? Never skated them but how can 2 companies have a near identical truck. Thunder and Venture for me

The wheel bite mark is a good clear indicator of the wheel base difference. Glad you pointed that out.
Yeah. It's easy to tell if you switch trucks on a skateboard you've been riding. A rare occurrence haha. Most people get new trucks on a new deck.
@@KevinNiceTry facts. I have the Anderson Egg board on the way. I will be looking for the perfect fitting trucks for that one.

I personally love the Ace AF1’s stock bushings … like a lot. I won’t skate anything else.
Gonna try the hollows one day.
I feel the same - Ace makes a good looking truck....
The best. Can't wait to try them with the harder bushings.

I bought some ace trucks yesterday. From your video they seem good :) I bought them because of how they look.
