FYI, United now requires a hard sided cooler that has a considerable amount of tape wrapped around it to be considered as a checked bag. I had to leave several fish because of this rule.
One thing I am TERRIBLE at is filleting fish. I'm hitting the LIKE button to come back to this later. I LOVE catching Cohos and Atlantics...but I hate the cleaning part. I'm going to get a mat like this so that the fish doesn't slip and some gloves. Great video of that guide, bud. Thanks.
You can look at that and tell? I have the video of that fish being caught in the channel and you can watch it getting weighed on the scales by a professional guide but who knows? Maybe you are right! 🤔
1 not a 20 lb fish. 2 sloppy and slow. 3 didn't even take off all the silverskin on the ribs. 4 if you're a professional fileting a whole salmon should take 1 minute
Like a surgeon!! Well done! You make it look so easy....
Wish I could take credit but I was just holding the camera!
Good job man, this is how you do it if you don’t have a 12in blade! Thanks for the video
You prefer at 12” blade?
No I don’t, but I see a lot of guys using them. I have an ol rapala fillet knife I use but it’s only about 7 inches or so.
The best eating salmon in my opinion. They're called Kings for a reason.
I agree, a fatty fish (in a good way). I’ve got a few more packs still in the freezer!
That is a perfection, thank you for sharing!
My pleasure…check out the full video is us catching that king salmon! ua-cam.com/video/5F4vn6GoyVA/v-deo.html

That sucks! I hate that you had to leave it
@@G2GO_outdoors it sure did suck!

They should hire you at the fishplant on Fogo Island where you have to filet 1500 lbs a day. And your yield is measured
I would hate for that guy to get mad at me🤣🤣👍
Rubbin you up with a knife southern style id rather be in nyc traffic
what type of mat are you using to clean the fish on?
I’m not sure of the brand but it has bristles just like a doormat. They seem to be very popular around this area as most of the guides use them.
What happened to the best bait series?
It’s coming, already recorded, still editing!
what is the ideal size knife for this? looks like a 7" blade?
7” dexter for salmon and 9” dexter for the halibut seems to be what most of the guides were using.
@@G2GO_outdoors thanks. my 9" kershaw is a bit of a handful. will get myself a 7" dexter and work on my technique.
I’ve got a video of a guy cleaning a halibut with a 9” dexter…he is amazing with a blade!
In Michigan I take my guts and heads and use them for crawfish bait. Nothing goes to waste
These bald eagles sure enjoy the scraps!
what area is that?
Around Soldotna I believe.
Is this fish smelly?
Not in a bad way! It’s an excellent tasting fish though!
@G2GO_outdoors Thanks 🙏
So So . With the right knife you can slab and get the rib bones off in less than two minutes
That’s not an ulu knife
That’s not an ulu knife! However I did buy one as a souvenir! Lol
Bubba Blades make it easier, faster, more precise
I know bubba blades are good but not sure how it could get much easier, faster or more precise than this! This guys is an expert
@@G2GO_outdoors agree to disagree 👍🏽

I love Putin and Trump, is that understood liberals?
Salmon says just don't cut my balls 😅😅😅😅😅😅
I’ve heard they are a delicacy! 😂
