- With Focus modes on iOS 15 you can customise the notifications you receive and when you see them. But you can take it to another level by also customising the very way your phone looks and the apps it has on the Home Screen! In this tutorial I'll show you how we can use our very own custom icons for our apps - and have them change with your Focus Mode! Take your aesthetic iPhone designs to the next level by switching between multiple aesthetic styles with ease. Here's how it works:

could you do a tutorial of how to change widgets from focus?
It’s probably the same way as for the apps, create new widgets on the home screens and then select that new screen for your mode

So what you do, before even going into the Focus Settings, make a page decorated specifically for that Focus mode (ex, Gym) Just use whatever shortcuts and widgets you want on one page, then swipe left onto another page that can be set for a different mode (ex work) and customize it just as before. Then do this helpful tutorial! Hope this helped! 📱😊

Is there a way with 15.4 to turn off notifications that run every time you click on an alternative app icon? I didn't see those happening when you did the demo here. I only see how to turn off Shortcut notifications for Automations.

Is it possible to change the 4 apps at the bottom (the dock) with each focus mode? All of my focus modes completely differ but whenever I try to change the dock icons, they can only be one way.
Sadly not, no. The dock remains there all the time. I’m hoping this might be something they change in iOS 16 as it’s a real pain at the moment!

how do you create the individual homescreens for different icons i cant figure that out-
BEST video on changing app icons. so concise and easy to understand! I am really trying to use smartstack to stack several shortcuts (ipad pro ios15) but can't add more than one shortcut icon in a stack. Do you know if there is any way to do that?
What if I’ve already filled up all available Home Screen pages? Am I not able to customise it depending on focus type?

I'm trying to figure out if it is possible to have a toggle shortcut, say for Wi-Fi for instance, and have the icon assigned to that shortcut toggle between two different icons depending on whether or not it is on or off. Do you think that's possible?
I think that should be possible in the Shortcuts app. 'If Focus = Work, Turn Wifi on ELSE If Focus = Home Turn Bluetooth off.'

Hi Jacob , such fantastic page you have , very educational, thank you ,quick question since I’m very very new on playing with shortcuts app,how can I get rid of notification banner? I did go to screen time and all activities to turn off the shortcuts app notification but it won’t show the shortcut apps there , any idea what shall I do ?
There’s a little workaround for this. First make a shortcut the creates a notification. Doesn’t matter what it says. Then, in each of your custom app shortcuts, add the notification shortcut at the top. Now each time you open an app you will get a notification from shortcuts. Seems counterintuitive right? Almost. If you open an app over and over and keep getting the notification, then your phone will recognize it in Screen Time. Open Screen Time in settings, then check All Activity, then in the bottom you should see Shortcuts in the notification section. It may not allow you to interact with it. If not, swipe back and forward a day. Select Shortcuts, then you should be able to disable notifications.
This will disable any notifications you get from other shortcuts, but you can workaround that by sending notifications through a 3rd party app call Pushcut. (I haven’t tested it in iOS16 so im not sure if it still works)
Note that it will turn notifications back on every time your phone restarts, so you’ll have to disable them again.

But focus mode let you use only few apps or contacts which you choose. How ut will work like normal phone? Like right now i can get call from anyone, notifications and other everything normally. How i can use focus mid just to change the theme not the other restriction?
How do I change my Widgets accordingly to my Focus modes?

When you have the Set Wallpaper action in Shortcuts, tap on the blue writing that says "Lock Screen and Home Screen". Here you can toggle on or off either option to get things exactly as you want them. You'll also need to set up a matching Shortcut for when the Focus is turned OFF, and switch back to your original wallpaper. Hope that helps!

Sadly not, the Dock is currently the only thing you can't change.

Yes, definitely! Set up a 'normal' Home Screen and hide it on the other Focus Modes, but show it by default when Focus is turned off. It should work a treat!

Sadly not, the Dock remains consistent no matter what Focus mode you’re in. I had hoped this would have been a change in iOS 16 but sadly not.

Sadly you can't change the icons in the Dock at the moment - not in the way you want to. Hopefully it'll come in a future update

If I make a focus with a different Home Screen and save it then delete the Home Screen (not focus) to make a new one will it delete my progress I made for the saved one
