This worked great for me, except that every night after some time the dark mode would turn itself off. I found that it was my sleep mode deactivating it, so I made new automations so that wind down time would turn my phone to dark mode and wake up would make it bright. I hope this helped for anyone have the same issue.
I wish there was a way to implement this with custom icons in the dock. I use a lot of wallpaper that don’t necessarily hide the dock, so I generally like to have custom transparent icons in the dock. It would be awesome if the dock icons could change in dark mode, too
Ahh, this! The only downside to this setup. I would up making my own pastels from the icons and defaulted to light mode. Sucks you can't theme the dock icons the same way.
I did it I used an app called darkinator for light mode and dark mode and I used Bixby routines widget for dark mode toggle and it works the same the inky thing I need to figure out now is the icons to change I'll let you guys know when I do

Hey dude, can you please update this with IOS 16 in mind? My shortcuts have all broken and now when I run the change theme shortcut its just changes the theme to dark and then immediately back to light and then finishes. (if I'm already set to dark mode it doesn't do anything at all) I'm wracking my brain here trying to figure out what's going on and the only thing I can see is that those little connecting lines in the "If" actions (the ones connecting the actions that come before/after) are not connected to the "Turn Dark Mode Off" and the "Turn Dark Mode On until Turned Off". i have no idea if any of that made sense but i really liked this shortcut and really hope i can get an answer on how to fix it!
After testing this automation for few hours, I came with upgrade which seem so be good for people who use focus mode "sleep" as I do (no calls during night, unless emergency contacts, etc...), because when iPhone turn itself to "sleep focus" it will trigger "dark focus off" which will change the wallpaper to bright one > if you wake up at night, you will look at your iPhone with bright screen... just do the setting other way around, do not create "dark focus" but create "light focus" with trigger "when turn off" set dark mode + change wallpaper, etc... this way, the sleep focus will not trigger the change of setting > will be changed with given time by set "light focus". Hope my description makes sense and will help to someone :D
It's insane that Apple doesn't allow launchers on the App Store and you need to do all of this for something most Android launchers/icon packs do by default.
Can you make a video on how to undo this whole process as well? I recently created this layout and I love it! But it only shows the apps I selected and I end up searching for everything, love the content!
Thank you so much for this video. I do have a question. When i turn the switch to “dark mode” everything is working just fine. But once I turn it back to “light mode” it changes back but it also is blurring my background and that is driving me insane. I have to adjust it manually every time.. any tips on how to prevent this from happening?
While I love the icon set up/look and the invisible backgrounds, having this set up wouldn’t show app notification badges, would it? That’s the largest downfall to me. I still like seeing which apps have notifications so that I don’t have to click into the app each time.
@@danielirick8466, yeah, I’m aware of that setting. Still not really the point. Apple still needs to change a lot of things. I personally wouldn’t go through all of this but it just shows people want more out of iOS. Leave the same boring and dated set up in the system and as the default but give those of us who like something different the option to do so.
There seems to be an issue with using a custom 'Dark Mode' in the Focus set-up. I tried using the 'Work' Focus Mode and used the same parameters and it works absolutely fine.
I don’t know if I did something wrong or the new update changed something but for mine to work I need to have it set to If (system dark mode) is on Turn (light/day focus on) Otherwise Turn (dark/night focus on)
When the mode changes, the 2nd set of app icons I've made are not automating. Meaning, when I'm in light mode (and have the dark app icons) and I switch to night mode, the light colored app icons aren't automatically going along with the dark mode. Unsure what I've missed.
Did you actually setup your second screen with the different dark icons? The icons won't actually change automatically, unless you've setup the separate dark icons.
ive found a new way for ios 15.4 You just need to go to automation > Create Personal Automation > Apps > Select the apps that use the custom icon > then type nothing in the search bar after > Uncheck the ask before running > DONE
Hey! Followed the tutorial and I really can’t get it to work, it doesn’t auto change at the time of the focus is set. I have everything else working though eg the change theme button is working!

go into the automation he said to download during the vid and look through each step. on the change wallpaper step it says both home and lock screen so just change it to home screen. make sure to do it for both dark and light under that automation
So with this method, whenever I have the dark mode focus mode on, I will never be able to receive text messages from people outside my contacts? Phone calls should work but what about text messages? That could cause some issues..

My iPhone is running the latest iOS and still hides the dock. You've gotta disable the Dark Setting Dims Wallpaper toggle, and also disable the Reduce Transparency setting. Hope that helps!

@@sambeckman Sorry I actually meant to type 15.5! I had purchased your icon and background packs and used it efficiently for a few weeks however now it runs in to issues. I have since carried out the steps in both videos twice but it doesn’t fix the issue I am having. For example, if let’s say I have the light mode on and then use the change theme shortcut, while it changes the icons, it will no longer change the clear widgets and the background. If however I manually change to dark mode, the clear widgets will change, and then I am also able to change the background using the light to dark background shortcut manually. Additionally, while toggling the dark mode focus off and on will allow only the icons to change, it does not trigger the background or widgets to change concurrently. As I have tried it out twice I think the issue is arising fro the custom focus but am still unsure, and currently left with no option but to manually change each part individually.
