Thank you for pausing the video when you spoke. Your facial expressions says it all as well. Who needs heavy metal when you have Voice Play anyway. Great reaction
In the movie this scene is in a room contrasted with a fireplace. The background is a bit of an abstract version of that. The vocal percussion also gives off a crackling fire vibe. The movie is worth a watch. Fun parts but certainly one of disneys darker films particularly of that era of disney.
This was an awesome version of probably the 'darkest' song to ever feature in a Disney film! They surpassed themselves again with the arrangement, loved it - just wondered why you didn't make the inset video full screen?? 😊
Geoff resisted doing this song from Disney for quite a while. He was not comfortable because of the subject matter. Once he agreed to do it though, he gives it all his effort.
I love everything Voiceplay does, even if I've never heard it before, which was true in this case. I've watched it over and over and OVER again. It is amazing!! Great reaction!!
To answer your question, yes it has been covered by metal groups before... although I actually felt more threat from Geoff than most of the ones I have heard.
Two things that vp and Geoff do better than anyone... Bring emotion to the Lyrics and bring a beat to drive the song forward. I'm like you. I just can't listen to them without my hands moving😂
As you said, the song comes from DISNEY's "Hunchback of Notre Dame". The protagonist (Geoff... Who didn't want to do this and it took VERY long to convince him to do it) is maybe the worst villain in all the history of Disney's cartoons, Minister Frollo, who is the Minister of the Cathedral od Notre Dame. AND is a sinister, vicious, narcissistic psychopath. He falls in love (well... In DESIRE, let's say) for Esmeralda, the young, beautiful Gipsy, and is torn between his lust (who he OF COURSE blames on her, who else? 👿🤬, and on God of course) and his virtue... But he eventually falls for the lust, and doesn't hesitate to "burn down all of Paris" to find her, even when this means to burn innocent people alive in their houses. This is his "villain song", when he finally surrenders to lust. Incredible that such a character and scene were in a cartoon meant to have children audience, isn't it? 😁🤦🏼♂ Here's te original version from the cartoon... ua-cam.com/video/-NP-RsRGzVo/v-deo.html :) See you next time!
You want metal Hellfire? Jonathan Young. Honestly, you should be reacting to his stuff in general, since his specialty for _years_ was heavy metal and hard rock covers of songs, especially Disney and anime, but also just... songs from anywhere. His Rolling in the Deep is very powerful. However, in the last few years, he's started working on original works, and I'd love those to get some air time in the reaction space, too. I LOVE his song Land of the Living.
Love this one! Since you say you love metal, you should really check out Dan Vasc. He's gaining incredible traction on UA-cam and more and more people are turning into fans.

This video is stunning, evil, mesmerizing, and utterly unforgettable.
Perfect reaction. Being speechless isn't uncommon. Loved it, thank you.

Jonathan Young did a version of this song that is awesome ❤
Thanks for reacting to this awesome song. As for metal covers: There is one by Jonathan Young and another one by Colm McGuiness.
Yes, indeed. That cover is one of my favorite Jonathan Young cover! 👍

I am sure there are a couple of hard rock or metal versions out there. I don't remember who exactly, though. I am sure someone knows better than I.
Jonathan Young is one of them
