i love how massive exaggeration of the speed of oxidization just hops from community to community. if oxidization was able to ruin a bottle of oil in the fridge in a month, life on earth wouldnt be possible, full stop.
I have a Puggle that has severe Hip Dysplasia. My vet suggested Omega Benefits Canine. I am also a pet sitter. Once I started to give the Omega Benefits, her limp disappeared totally! She runs around and plays with other dogs, without any problems. She is turning 10 soon. She has been on Omega Benefits for a number of years now. I will never stop using this product. I have also had clients with older Labradors that had joint issues, and they say it helped their dogs too.
Is there a phytoplankton brand you recommend??
are hemp seeds as good as hemp oil?
Hi! I love your channel so much! I've been making homemade dog food for my dog. I've been supplementing his calcium with ground up egg shells. Recently I've added kelp to his diet, as I read a good article you did stating the benefits. Am I able to feed him kelp and the eggshells? I heard kelp has calcium. Do you think it is enough to meet a dogs daily requirements? my dog is only 25 lbs and i only feed him 1/4 teaspoon of dried kelp a day. Hoping you respond :)
Hi Rhonda - Thank You!
You should be fine to continue with the kelp and eggshell. If you notice your dog have trouble pooping, it could mean too much calcium.
Remember - it's all natural, and hard to overdo!

@@DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM Thank you so much!! Honestly, I hope you write a book!! You are my favorite!!
OMG - now I don't know what to do. Bombarded with "give them fish oil" and now "don't give them fish oil."
Do what's best for your dog, and the planet :)
Hi Dana! Would sardines canned in water be a safe choice for omega-3 fatty acids?
Sorry for the late reply - Yes sardines canned in water are safe. We always strive for fresh and organic first, if possible! :)
@@DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM what about all sardines has high amouth of sodium 😂
@@DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM what about all sardines has high amount of sodium 😂
Ahhh I'll still give him fish oil
It's your choice :)
@@DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM Great video, as I will reply above. Some people will always be a little dense :)
I get my salmon oil from a small hatchery in Alaska, Great product and very respectable owners. So a lot of this doesn’t apply too my dog. I’m guessing very little bit of the fish oil is really coming from “wild fish” anyways
Glad you have found a reliable source :)
Very informative
Does the Safe-Sea premium fatty acids replace the fat in the dog’s diet in any way. Or do you just add the supplement?
I don't think you can replace dietary fats ... the reason we should be adding omega-3 fats is because modern food is too high in omega-6 fats, which makes it inflammatory. So Safe-Sea would replace fish oil and it would also replace hempseed oil since it contains a much wider range of anti-inflammatory fatty acids. Fish oil only contains EPA and DHA, which is limiting. Hope that helps!
What about Krill oil? Mercola has one that cannot oxidize in it's container. Thanks
Krill oil is not sustainable and does not provide the same benefits as a green lipped mussel oil would! :)
I think my bully has an allergic reaction or is in fact overloaded on omegas... i give him cow trachea very high in glucosamin and crude fat.. but Ive had this absess problem i would call its equivalent to a human problem more like folliculitis the fur bacteria seems to infect the follical .. also these things come out more when he's wet. doesnt matter if its rain or a bath.. the next day he'll have 20 of them.. the fur comes out like a sliver.. its weird..
Have you tried giving less omega's? And are they in balance? Balance between omega-3 and omega-6 fats is important!
Great video! Thank you for speaking about this. Very informative. I will buy plankton instead of fish oil from now on. Better for my dogs and better for our oceans🐬🐋🌎
There's always good and bad when it comes to any product. I have been using cod liver oil for many years and I have seen a difference in using the cod liver oil. It's healthy for dogs, and it gives your dog a sheen in the dog's coat. Compare to dogs who don't use the cod liver oil, their coat's are dull and they lack energy.
I’d also add that the black market of shark hunting has found that shark has been found in A LOT of fish, cat & dog food which speaks to
Dana’s reference to TOXINS. In fish oils.
So all the Vets are wrong about fish oil?
Let me say thank you, for adding more confusion as what to give Dory my Rat Terrier. Again thank you, I truly love 💖 confusion!
Everything I’ve read has told me omega 3 is a necessary supplement for a rAw fed dog.
We're not saying don't feed omega 3. We're saying choose wisely, and stay away from things like fish oil, which can become rancid quickly.
What are your thoughts on Golden flaxseed as omega supplement?
@@CassFloroff Dogs dong convert ALA very well, we'd suggest marine Phytoplankton, Sardines or Mackerel. Whole and fresh if you can! :)
Here's an article from our blog that takes a deeper dive into your question: www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/omega-3-for-dogs-the-ultimate-guide/
How about salmon oil
if you are a real concern to dog you suggest the fresh fish not the process canned 😂
Fast forward to 1:51 to get to the 'facts'
I bought my dogs salmon oil because they had trouble eating dog food since they like human food better so I thought the salmon oil would add flavor and it did but I noticed that my dog has been getting so many rashes it’s super noticeable. I don’t know if it’s because of the salmon oil..
He’s probably allergic to the kibble you feed him and thats why he didnt wanna eat it to start with
Definitely try leaving it out Emily if it is causing a problem!
Very possible RB!
Do you still use the salmon oil? If so how is it going?
Why is krill not suitable?
This article will explain why krill is not a suitable option: www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/krill-oil-for-dogs/
@DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM environmentally not suitable...but in regards to health, very suitable. Your statement is, therefore, incorrect.
I’m not going to dump it but I’m just not going to buy it ever again
Good idea !!
Everything has pros and cons so it really doesn’t matter
Are you a Vet? Do you have a degree in dog nutrition?
Dana has a degree in physiology and has spent many years studying pet nutrition :)
@@DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM so no...
@@ulblar Why would you need a veterinary degree to discuss fish oil?
@@DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM Because physiology is not the study of nutrition or animals so it does make a difference if all others of the field are saying opposite. I am open to new science but it needs to come from the right experts maybe site where this comes from to know who is right?
@@fabfrenchies1974 please feel free to read the articles on our blog, they all have the studies they are based on linked into them :)
Sardines canned is hight amount of sodium 😂
there are options where it is just fish and water but its more expensive
This is stupid. You telling me that all medical professionals supporting fish oils are wrong?? Why is this the only video going against the grain? Humans take fish oil all the time and eat fish all the time. Non of this happens to us unless you’ve ingested massive amounts of mercury over your lifetime. Obviously too much of anything isn’t good which is why it should never be given in excess.
Medical professionals are not only on both sides of the isle, but as a former rep for a top Pharma company, I quickly learned how much Physicians actually relied on us for the bulk of their medication knowledge. They have too much time & energy invested into many other important things, like surgical techniques, other aspects of patient care, managing an office & insurance, etc., etc.
They only say, its ok a sardines in canned some othe too said that... Paid by the sardines canned company
The vast majority of experts advocate the use of fish oil. If it's a battle of experts I'm going to believe the majority. The tone of this video has overtones of scare tactics.
The fish industry is an incredibly lucrative and monstrous one. Be careful who you put your trust in.
The majority are often wrong ……… believe me this is actually true. ……..
All of these carcinogens do not seem specific to fish oil. Oxidation? Free radicals? Radiation? All of those things are nearly unavoidable in modern society....
My dog eats, mice, rats, plastic, and garbage. Rolls in hobo poop at the park, and drinks contaminated water. I’m not expecting her to live forever, just preform her best while she’s here. I think my dog likes the fish.
that's disturbing.
Is she a doctor? If not only listen to your personal vet not someone on UA-cam.
Please feel free to read the articles on our blog that have the science in them :)
@@DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM 😂
Phytoplankton can contain harmful neurotoxins.... Sure, maybe it's a small chance and maybe it's not a lot, but to bash fish oil for toxin content and then recommend something else that contains toxins...
I gave her fish oil and she got seriously ill, don't give this shit to ur dog, just meat and water that's their nature
Trash information!!!!!
