Considering the DBs history, I feel like the story line was rushed and made on the go. It could have been more brutal and vicious but that’s my opinion.
Let me put it to you this way; Join the Dark Brotherhood, the Thieves Guild, the Mages’ College & the Companions. At the end of their quest lines you will be the leader of all four factions. Join the Stormcloaks, drive out the Empire, kill the Emperor & his cousin, in doing so you end the Mede Dynasty, ending the White-Gold Concordat. Use mods to become High King of Skyrim and marry Lady Miraak, in doing so you create the foundation of a new Empire and Dragonborn Lineage led Dynasty with control of the Major factions of Skyrim. With the Blades & Greybeards at your back and Dragons under your control via the Bend Will shout, Skyrim under your leadership becomes invincible.
Avarti: The dark brotherhood is very evil, and kill in brutal ways Also avarti: There's a torture chamber in dawnstar sanctuary and it is fun to play around in
Maybe it is now in Skyrim, but that's not what the Dark Brotherhood was 'Meant' to be. They are Assassins, not 'Murderers'. They acted as a dark form of 'Revenge'. Someone does something so harsh to another person, that other person invokes a pack with the Dark Brotherhood to have that 'someone' be Assassinated. It's not meant to be Cruel, Sadistic, or even Evil under the right telescope. More of a Dark Karma against those who wronged others. Skyrim just screwed that up, cause of course it did.
I like how you get 20k for killing the emperor then the next quest is spending 19k the rebuild the dawnstar sanctuary. So basically you get paid 1k to kill an employer or leave the quest uncompleted in your journal
I have so many incomplete quests due to them being broken, it doesn't really matter in the end. 😂 ... I've also got so many stupid useless quest items in my inventory for the same reason.
~ player.additem 0000000f 19000 There you go, free Dawnstar Sanctuary. To stay lore-friendly and not brake immersion, you can always justify it to yourself as coming from a DB fund dedicated to business expenses such as rebuilding sanctuaries.

i cant help but notice how they always make you go after characters who you've likely made friends with (narfi, vittoria, nilsine, anoriath, etc) but leaves some of the most hated characters like nazeem and maven black briar alone. it wouldve been a lot better if there were more NPCs that players would actively hate who were contracts.
Yeah. I always felt like the Dark Brotherhood would be more like the Faceless men. If the price is appropriate they will kill anyone. Some of their kills could be classified as "good" while others as "evil". While the Dark Brotherhood of course kill for money they also follow a code and essentially worship a God of Death that has been proven to be very real.
@@gigaswardblade7261 To be fair, Nazeem isn't really important enough for anyone to want dead (Outside of the Dragonborn anyway) and collapsing the Black-Briar family would harm Riften.
You forgot Braith. But then again this is Bethesda we're talking about, and they have had a strict 'No killing children' policy sense Gods know when. But Alva convincing what's his face to burn his house down with his wife and daughter in it as a quest is perfectly fine... Bethesda should just let us kill Braith, especially when she is that much of a bee-otch.
@Son Gohan I disagree everyone that survived were pretty memorable to me. I just wish you had more time to spend with them, especially Babette, she's adorable.
"The dark brotherhood tasks you with killing a poor insane beggar" *Shows clip of dragonborn Muay thai kneeing the beggars stomach before bodyslamming him*
“There are many reasons why you shouldn’t join this group of sadist. Aside from the the fact that their leader is a complete idiot....” Nice plug in for the Astrid video.
I always joined the brotherhood in every playthrough, but one time, I decided "Wait, I got all my gear, instead of killing these 3 innocent people, why don't I just turn around and kill astrid." So I did, and one shot her, and found out there's a whole questline for destroying the brotherhood. It was fun but sad that there's no shadowmere (Arvak best horse anyway).
Well actually shadowmere has the best stats and holy fuck the regeneragion. Shadowmere killed a fucking dragon for me while i was afk(i was in a place where the dragon didnt see me)
I did the destroy the dark brotherhood questline and I honestly found it sooo boring. It felt just like any other quest to go to a random place, kill random enemy NPCs and come back for gold. It felt like a dungeon crawl more than anything else, and it was incredibly underwhelming compared to the join the dark brotherhood questline, and the payout was literally NOTHING compared to what you get when you join the brotherhood. 3000 gold and the quest is over? It took less than 30 minutes for me to complete from talking to aventus to collecting my reward and the quest being finished, and it was horribly underwhelming compared the the scope and storytelling of the dark brotherhood questline should you join it. I was always curious what the destroy the dark brotherhood was, but that quest was so disappointing to me that I reloaded the save to I could join the brotherhood instead and I wouldn't have that game file on my conscience. Couldn't stand the destroy quest lol
@@lukasaro4278I don’t think stats matter much for a horse when you can have multiple followers and arvak can be summoned anywhere anytime he’s basically immortal with the best use
There isn't a single quest in all of Skyrim that is as fun as the Oblivion Dark Brotherhood quest "Whodunit," where you are supposed to quietly kill all the attendees of a party in Skingrad.
The dark brotherhood in oblivion were amazin, but I get the design choice that Bethesda made for Skyrim’s, can’t wait to see them come back in there full glory in the future
I like how at the very end, he pretty much boils it down to "yeah, killing people is not nice but you might as well do it because not doing it is a waste of time"
So Irish argues that u should destroy the brotherhood and a Avarti argues u shouldn’t join them, I would say the morag tong has been making some well placed bribes
@@Schwertfisch13 it makes actually sense that the Dragonborn who appears good, just wants to live out his saddist dreams and the "evil ones" are the victims of his dream
The story line of The Dark Brotherhood is one of the finest in the game. Yes, it’s brutal and full of unfair killings, but the quest is really fine. Don’t miss it.
It is, however I dunno. Alain Dufont deserved to die, Narfi could be argued as a mercy killing. Beltild is a shitty boss that treats her workers like crap. Hern is also nightspawn as well.
Gonna have to disagree. I find the questline pretty boring, so usually I opt to destroy the Brotherhood. It would be cool if the assassinations were more difficult and required real planning on the player's part, instead of just following instructions from NPC's.

It's not my fault Bethesda seem to love locking all the rare items behind evil organisations/beings and not providing alternatives. Heck there are even achievements tied to joining these guys.
@@collincaperton6718 You entirely missed my point. If you want to make a morally good character you're going to be missing out on a bunch of achievements, weapons and content which isn't great. Sure you could technically do it but it would come at a cost.
I agree the quest could of been made far more story based. Adding a story like they went around killing the contracts and we had to hunt them down would of made being a assassin hunter more enjoyable.
Joining Pennitus Oculatus should have been like joining the NCR. Imagine playing a game of Cluedo aboard the Katariah trying to figure out which guard or sailor is an assassin in disguise. Dawnguard/Skyrim: SE should have let you defeat Babette in a quest where she transforms into Vampire Lord form (to get around the child killing shit even though she isn’t really a child)
@@urthofthenewsun8465 I kinda like the idea of maybe having a story like Assassins Creed Rogue. Where you were warned by letter through the Oculatus where a assassination will likely take place. Then you could intercept the assassins one by one including cicero. After you killed a assassin you reported to Marus for your reward. However each time you get the next assassins location they acknowledge they are being hunted and killed in story thus get more secretive. Bribing guards to stop you or hiring mercenaries to try and kill you with mercenaries having letters to retrieve payments from them but often getting more and more paranoid of you hunting them. The last Assassin would of killed Marus but he had a dead drop for final pay. Or the emperor himself given you your final pay once you killed the guy who hired the Dark Brotherhood.
Yeah, if you join them you have this decently long chain of events unfolding to epic adventure levels with high stakes, loss, betrayal, closure.....but if you kill Astrid instead you just get a single "go kill these 5 nobodies" quest and....thats it.
The Dawnstar sanctuary is great for grinding restoration and destruction magic on the captives in the torture room. Hit them with weak flames spell until they are close to death then heel them, bring a bunch of potions of Magika and your set for some leveling.
its easier to grind restoration if you use a turn undead spell on one of the skeletons inside the whiterun hall of the dead. you get more bang for your buck. and its available from lvl1.
I'm kinda surprised at all the necroing on this post, I just commented on something I used to do in this game ten plus years ago on oldrim ps3 as a way to level restoration and destruction magic, never said it was the best or only way to do it, just a comment on what I used to do when the game first came out. I also would never claim to be an expert on leveling magic, its something I do late game because magic without mods sucks in Skyrim anyways, so I never play as a mage in that game. Shouldn't be surprised though, elder scroll nerds are the most insufferable know it alls in gaming. haha.
Yeah, it would be good if vezara(sorry for spelling) stayed alive, it could make the very late DB more interesting, he is also the only "animal race" that is in the guild exept you(if your an argonian or khajiit), this makes him unique other than his shadow scale past. He could even train windhelm argonian dock workers to become new era shadowscales or something like that other than just two Nord recruits, one of each gender, it also would be good if the protagonist(dragonborn) could enlist whoever they wanted, e.g. Spouse, follower etc. Just like you can with the blades
Your wish is already a reality if you are a PC gamer. There are two mods that change up the storyline of the dark brotherhood. And they're actually really good way better than the vanilla.
@@claireinglis37 there's a mod or actually two of them that allow you to do this what you are pointing out along with a much better outcome than the vanilla. One mod called save the dark brotherhood, and another one called your choices matter (which should be self-explanatory if you never really liked the way the things that you tell them never really made a difference in the way things turned out) Those two mods work well together just need a patch from one of them and it becomes a much better story and you have much more of an expansion and additions to the storyline. Along with getting the dawnstar sanctuary overhaul mod not the exact name but definitely makes it much better.
You don't have to buy the torture chamber, the armor is awesome and can be gotten really early, Shadow Mare doesn't die and helps in fights, and when you become leader you can use Initiates as high level followers who sneak with you, and you don't have to complete any contracts after becoming the boss.
what bothers me the most is that they send you. the listener to kill bandits in caves instead of rebuilding the black hand of the brotherhood. the four fingers (the speakers) and their nails (silencers) + your nail who you should send to kill the targets instead of going yourself like a busybody. bad and lazy writing like everything Bethesda
At least my two favorites (Nazeer and Babette) survived (I did indeed like her story when you first walk in. It was fun listening to her do an impression of a pedo right before his demise)
The alternatif should have been "kill every dark brotherhood member seperatly with its own quest reward" Hell even intercepting the murder during the wedding and the empire. And poison the vampire since well its a child npc so i would asume regular weapons wouldnot work. On top of that once your done with the quest line to kill the brotherhood's members you should be able to find cicero somwhere (as he should have been kicked out by astrid) and when you do the mother whispers to you and you can kill cicero or talk with him and start Brotherhood reforged quest where you rebuild the dark brotherhood in dawnstar.

As per the "Destroy the Dark Brotherhood" quest given by Maro, Bethesda wrote themselves into a hole by making Babette a vampire. If you have ever read Interview with a Vampire by Anne Rice, she's a direct easter egg to that story because Babette in IWTV was 10 and turned by Lestat. Same as Babette in Skyrim. Which is cool. It's a nice easter egg. I enjoyed it immensely. That being said, they should have taken the time to actually create a vampiric character for the Brotherhood that was not a child in the case that you choose to destroy the Brotherhood. They could have left a journal or something that has Babette leaving the Sanctuary to seek out others of her kind, maybe she ends up finding them or later, Serana, and chooses to cure herself as well after discussing it over. We know that Vampirism can be cured. Sure, Babette would have to deal with losing her functional immortality and all the other vampiric traits... or if they wanted to keep her in, as is, just age her to where she was turned when she's no longer considered a child by game standards. As for actually destroying the Brotherhood, they should have given it as long a questline and have it run par with perhaps the Blades and Penitus Oculatus having to work together, redeeming the Blades, placing Delphine on trial for trying to strongarm the Dragonborn into fueling her personal vendetta against the Thalmor (justifiable, but still very against the plan in place to oust the Dominion) and securing twice the protection for the Emperor, or Emperor to be. All this would have gotten around and maybe could lend weight to the Civil War questline in that the Jarls take note of your achievements and depending on what you do, you can sway them against Ulfric if you're pro-Imperial. Point is: there are so many consequences and stories they could have done but they wanted an 11/11/11 release date. I'm still mad.
Personally, I'm more interested in who sent the Dark Brotherhood after Narfi. I mean, who would want him dead? My current theory is someone who felt sorry for him, perhaps the innkeeper you talked to who seemed to be the only person who cared. A mercy killing, of sorts.
@@johnprager662 okay, listen to this conspiracy: so,Narfi's sister is dead. in a river. who killed her? i think it was Wilhelm. you have another quest where a dark elf has you bring black briar mead to wilhelm illegally. i think Narfi's sister Reyda found out about wilhelm's smuggling deals while out to get plants, so he had to silence her. he then went to kill narfi, and hit him on the head. it didnt kill him, but fucked up his head. the first thing Narfi said after being hit was "Wheres Reyda?" so Wilhelm had to tell him she would be back soon. was good enough for him. thats why when you talk to Wilhelm, he notices Reyda's belongings. now, when the dragon born comes along asking questions, he sends you to Giermands Hall hoping you would go inside and get yourself killed. thats why he also said the thing about the barrow. he see's you asking questions and is trying to indirectly silence you as well. -copied from javafreak comments

@@SAMOEDRA443 It was a vampire. He’s someone you’re sent to kill when in the dawnguard and if you read his journal you’ll see that he wrote about eating a young lady in Ivarstead.
It's true. Also something I found strange was that supposedly, once you get into the sanctuary, there were only about 8 members remaining. However, earlier in the game they find it reasonable to send multiple assassins after you, each time resulting in another member being lost. Presumably, you would have wiped out a third of their remaining members before setting foot in that sanctuary. It boggles the mind how they managed to stay afloat.
I still find it hilarious how stupid it is that astrid contacts the empire so they kill you and somehow ends up telling them where the sanctuary is at so they end up raiding it and killing everyone. Either astrid is literally the dumbest person in tamriel or bethesda needs to fire its writers.
@@WereCreed still dumb writing for the lore tho. If Dragonborn kills Astrid they immediatly admit they know where sanctuary is , the pass code and send you to fuck it. BUT if you are Brotherhood member , Penitus Oculatus raid it with random soldiers and success to barely fuck it , Brotherhood only survives cause the Dragonborn exists as listener. So that imply that if Dragonborn don't even exists as listener they could have raid it since soooooo long and barely every time before he met Astrid. Killing Astrid or not don't change a single thing cause if you don't they kill her theirselves so we can't even imagine they didn't raid cause they thinked they could not beat her. That would need an explain for not doing it but there is none really given by the game. The only one would have be they know about Cicero and Night Mother and wanted to wait his coming for being really sure it is over for good by raid when Night Mother is in the sanctuary. But if it was it , then they would not send you clear the sanctuary without the Night Mother location. Well in every case incoherences of this questline are probably mostly due to the fact the Destroy Brotherhood choice was rushed as hell. It is so easy to correct it even without adding 1000 quests. Here is an exemple : we knows Maven Black Briar personally knows Astrid and have Big interest about stick up with the Empire. Beth could have simply let a Maven letter in Astrid Body , then your investigate would have lead to her who would have reveal sanctuary locations or usefull datas for save her head and Empire spot. Just adding a single thing like that would have make a real logic reason about why Penatus didn't raid Brotherhood early , simply cause then it would be Dragonborn murdering Astrid which would create the opportunity to do so by giving a décisive clue. That , or add an additionnal quest before the raid asking to find out Cicero and Night Mother for Come back to the previous point
There’s a vampire with a book that says he was looking for food in the town the guy’s sister was living in during the same time frame she disappeared and since no one else went missing and the vampire was fed, I’m pretty sure it’s the vampire who killed the sister
I joined the Dark Brotherhood even though I wanted to be a "good" Dragonborn. My worst part was killing Narfi. I made it as quick as possible, feeling shitty the whole time. And then I killed my neighbour at her wedding which was also horrible. However, I had a very good reason for all this bloodshed, i.e. Cicero. I now have a dancing follower. Worth it.
I felt bad about deekus and marandru Jo, there are so little argonians and Khajiit as is in the game and they get looked down on by the humans, its a shame cuz they are both cool but it seems like nonhuman races often get neglected in fantasy games.

I, for one, have a lot of fun in the Dark Brotherhood. You complain about the sanctuary in Dawnstar and I see it as a great opportunity. Hardly anyone travels there because of the nightmares people have, which means that the sanctuary is less likely to be found. You get the perks of earning more and more gold while sharpening your skills as an assassin AND you get SHADOWMERE. The only way to kill Shadowmere is if you jump off a mountain, otherwise, he's pretty much invincible. The armor looks cool, the people are psychotic (looking at you, Cicero) What more could you ask for? I think the only thing that'll make it better is if you are able to make a contract yourself to kill off the characters that can't really die by your hand. That would be cool.
Reasons to join anyway: - Cicero - Shadowmere - Cicero - Lucian - Edgy gear - Snuggle time with the Night Mother - Cicero - Cicero - Creepy female follower - Cicero's jokes lmao - Nightweaver's band (if you suck at enchanting) - You get an infinite supply of gold from contracts - Cicero - Cicero - Blade of Woe (?) - Cicero - Cicero - Also Nazir :) - ALMOST FORGOT! Cicero. - Also the Emperor's Robes
"millions of flies can't be wrong, eating shit is the best" at the end they have you, the listener, completing contracts like a busybody. nobody seems to remember the true purpose of the listener, nobody remembers the purpose of the black hand.
yeah, fast travel is useful for long distances or high places but some people who want to roleplay, or want an immersive experience, will usually travel normally. its sometimes quicker as well
I refrain from fast travelling, just because things attacking me on the road give me more opportunity to level up combat skills without being too grindy.
I found this comparison extremely weird as it was used in a video about how "lame" DB and its rewards in Skyrim are (I mean, could be true, it's different for everyone). I mostly fast travel during the beginning of the game but once I got Shadowmere I actually explore the world much more.
"Do not join the brotherhood if you have any sense of morality" *Looking back at the trail of bodies I left as a werewolf after eating them*, Brotherhood it is ! And dont tell me you dont kill Nazeem in your playthru
Not this time. But thats cause my mods actually put him in Dragons reach so I dont have to deal with him myself. Just cast Fury on a guard and let them kill Nazeem.
One of the mods I have installed (More to say maybe?) gives you the option to fistfight Nazeem, and he shuts his mouth after you win. Good alternative to killing him if you're not playing a indiscriminate murderer lol
The morality aspect is the worse argument against joining. I swear some people act like you're a monster or evil or something for doing bad play throughs in games. It's a bunch of pixels, shitty AI, and more often than not bad acting. I can't even bring myself to take games like Skyrim that seriously, and for the games I do take that serious, I just play a playthrough as good, and then do one as bad after. I paid for the game, ain't no way I'm gonna not experience what it has because of fake morality
He does make sense. You should NOT join BD due to the fact that you condone on stupid leadership for a while ( roleplaying--wise, since you don't know you'll become the leader, you choose to follow bad leader so that makes you idiot ) but NOT joining them deprives you privileges,
@@junfaa I feel you. Things get lonely after to accidentally yeet Shadowmere off a cliff. This is why I prefer the undead horse from Dawnguard that you can summon whenever necessary.

The dark brotherhood is one of my favorite quest lines, when i did it there was still an air of mystery in the game for me, making it even more special
This is a significant problem with Skyrim and the Elder Scrolls games in general. There are a LOT of rewards specifically for people who do evil things, and very few specifically for people who do good things.
@@mrscechy8625, it's not "super rich" that's the issue. Making money in Skyrim is pretty easy. I kind of wish there was a similar “Destroy the Thieves Guild” quest for those who want to try to role play as a paragon character. I usually don’t join the Dark Brotherhood, because I probably kill more innocent civilians when they just happen to wander in front of my warhammer mid-swing, than I ever would on that questline.
yeah the citizens of skyrim must get a kickback for the assault fines and woefully underestimate what wreckage a deadic warhammer is capable of. their gleeful insistence on running into a dragon's face waving a cheese knife gets tiring
There actually was going to be a way to dismantle the Thieves Guild, which would have involved teaming up with Mjoll the Lioness. However, it was apparently cut at some point during development. BTW, this is the reason why Mjoll is tagged as essential. She would've lost the tag after the quest was completed, but since you can never complete it, it never gets turned off.
There is one point I'd like to make. If one installs the mod 'Leveler's Tower' there is a spell that allows for instant teleportation to any major hold city, most of the minor cities, some other notable locations, and a mark and recall function. If one doesn't want to use the towers other 'cheat' functions, that's fine. But that one spell can easily make up for the existence of in your game, even if it's for only that spell. As it makes any part of Skyrim easily accessible, and negates the fast travel time skip. Side note; I didn't mean for this to sound like an advertisement for that mod. But I just love that spell, for it's immersive way of getting around Skyrim.
Honestly Skyrim is the only game where I’ll happily make loads of evil choices. Plus I usually make a beeline to the dark brotherhood so I can get Cicero as a follower because he’s the best one and you can’t change my mind.

I’ve always seen the marriage as arranged since she’s strongly for the empire and he’s strongly stormcloak, he hits on you if you play as a female and if you break into her house you can see she shares a bed with her steward. So with that I assumed someone decided they should get married to try to cool down the civil war.
fun fact: in skyrim legendary edition if you joined both DB and thieves guild the other guild ( the companions, winterhold) will just turn a blind eye. but in special editon or aniv ones, if you joined both TG and DB, aela and toldfir will send you a letter saying that you must apologize for the guild.
The thing about the elder scrolls games is that the "evil" factions are a huge portion of content you don't want to miss out on, just like the "heroic" questlines. I feel that moral role-players will always be missing out if they choose to reject the immoral questlines, such as the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild. This is why I think the morality argument shouldn't be considered unless you are a strict role-player. No matter how many flaws you find in a faction, a large amount of time and focus went into creating its questline, making it a worthwhile endeavor. I enjoy doing all the immoral questlines first, and then doing the good guy questlines so my character experiences some sort of redemption arc.
I usually do the reverse, doing the main quest first, then the morally good questlines (Civil War, College of Winterhold, Companions, and Dawnguard DLC (pro-Dawnguard)), then the morally evil questlines (Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood), then the Dragonborn DLC, where my character has a very serious heel realization.
Don't know why people keep calling the Thieves' Guild questline "evil." People care more about property crimes in this game than they do in real life, I swear.
This dilemma is a perfect example of wanting to have your cake and eat it too. Why are people whining about missing out on "immoral" storylines, but playing with self-imposed restrictions that limit the gameplay for no reason? There's literally nothing stopping you from playing the "evil" stories.
Killing the orc who can't sing is like saving the whole town tho. Ngl it must've been a sight to see the man gets butchered in his own workplace. But when I look back at it, i felt really guilty. The man was just doing what he loves and it wasn't even a bad thing. Dark brotherhood just accepts the contract whenever is given to them. They should've considered who are the targets before killing them
Immy Dubby I’m not saying everyone should be killed eho isn’t liked, but I’m saying killing Narfi is one of the best thing the brotherhood has done. Yes, maybe he didn’t kill his sister, but he sounds like he wants to die after you say what happened to his sister. Some people say he put the bounty on himself, some people say the innkeeper put the bounty on him. All I’m saying is that killing Narfi CAN be justified, not necesarly that it IS justified.
@@5AMACE oh no. I'm not saying you're wrong or whatever. Sorry if I had made you feel that way. It's just that killing people because someone else told you too is a bit unfair. Like the one when muiri asked to kill nilsine for favor. That's just plain cruel considering that she's the bad one not nilsine. But everyone sure had their own reason, not for me obviously.
@ıoq ɥnʎ It would be putting Narfi out of his misery of bearing the pain of losing his beloved sister, and would make it to where he could be with her again, and get to see her. Narfi already seems suicidal and wants nothing more than to be with his sister. He is already extremely poor and barely has anywhere to sleep, with no one to talk to or anything at all. The one person he had is gone, and he's already driven himself into madness, the best thing to do would be put him out of his misery. And also, if I was crazy, or so depressed that I wanted someone to end my life, I would gladly die by someone's hand. So, yes, it should be fine considering it would be a mercy kill.
i personally believe the reason narfi was a target was most likely because the dark brotherhood had a contract on narfis sister and wanted to avoid him accidentally exposing them or causing suspicion that could lead to them
Im starting to notice that I've always played evil dragon born. I've always sided with the daedric lords snd such just to get cool gear and weapons. Well, I guess it would just mean I've been playing like a dragonborn whose dragon soul has taken over his mortal side.
@@disastrous_ad8686 To be honest I feel the Dragonborn personally has no real morality of being good or bad. He/She can do acts of good or do acts of evil. Plus technically killing Alduin and not killing Paaranthurnax already gives the Dragonborn the highest paragon. Thieves Guild well the Dark Brotherhood makes them look like saints. The Dark Brotherhood is actually evil. Those two guilds are is just Bethesda showing you are willing to get your hands dirty. Except with Karlia and Gallus makes the Thieves Guild look honorable in their perspective view because of nocturnal, and The Night Mother and Sithis make to whoever the Listener is honorable making even assassins honorable in their sense. You can raise the paragon up more by doing the Dragonborn quest solthesheim, and siding with the dawguard and rejecting every chance to become a vampire.
technically, the killings(except for some of the main storyline) are given coz people has asked for them. The orc bard you have to kill for example, if you ask Nazir for more info he will say you that "Astrid had to auction" the contract coz a lot of people wanted the bard dead(and performed the dark ritual) so the others are the same, with narfi no exception. somebody of ivarstead wanted narfi dead, not the actual dark brotherhood(which i agree, is a shit compared to the previous games brotherhoods)
My reason for destroying the Dark Brotherhood: I am already the Harbinger of the Companions and Kodlak would not have wanted me to join such an honorless group of sadists… Also, the Harbinger of the Companions joining a group where one of the high ranking members is an ex-member of the Circle who left on a very sour note would not have been something the remaining members of the Circle would have tolerated.
My question is that, who wanted Narfi to die so much that they would preformed the black sacrament and have the Dark Brotherhood kill him? Btw, I don't think Narfi killed his sister. In the Dawnguard DLC, one of the named vampires (can't remember which one) spent the night at the village inn and had a "snack" before leaving. It's written in his journal.
I have been playing Skyrim since 2011. I only joined 1 time out of curiosity about the quest. From then in new playthrough I always destroy the Dark Brotherhood 😃😃😃
George McClellan I think u can keep it even if u say the truth, each repair it’s going to cost a lot of gold but you decide when to repair the Dawnstar Sanctuary
Shadowmere is legit the best horse I've had. All of the others I had died too quickly. He's even a better companion than Cicero, who was entertaining at first but got annoying after a while. I finally told him to wait at their new hideout and left him there. Now I just ride Shadowmere around.
Reasons to join the DB: Babbette is the best "child" in the game, Cicero is a fun follower, Dawnstar gives you a 24/7 place to buy/sell stuff, Astrid's death is a satisfying one, getting to kill the Emperor.
A Shot of Whiskey also: Windshear, a chance to get both stronger shrouded armour and a set of shrouded armour you can enchant yourself, being able to summon Lucien’s spirit, and two immortal followers besides Cicero
The Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim is so fun and my favorite guild with Thieves guild being second. The story is fun, gameplay is fun, characters are cool, rewards I think are some of the best and you can keep doing assassination missions for fun after the questline. Even the conspiracy theories surrounding the events are awesome like the motives of killing the Emperor, who knows why
@@littlemoth4956 why would you ever have it last? It had a plot twist, you learn about corruption, you get dope armor and weapons as well as skeleton key temporarily, the guild has interesting members, more fun missions than the majority of companion or college missions. However each time you get the next assassins location they acknowledge they are being hunted and killed in story thus get more secretive. Bribing guards to stop you or hiring mercenaries to try and kill you with mercenaries having letters to retrieve payments from them but often getting more and more paranoid of you hunting them. The Dawnstar sanctuary is great for grinding restoration and destruction magic on the captives in the torture room. Hit them with weak flames spell until they are close to death then heel them, bring a bunch of potions of Magika and your set for some leveling.
Let me remind you destruction leveling depends on the amount of damage you deal, so flames would only be useful in the beginning.
its easier to grind restoration if you use a turn undead spell on one of the skeletons inside the whiterun hall of the dead. you get more bang for your buck. and its available from lvl1.
Just fast travel between Riften and Markarth while using Unbound Storms. You can get to 100 destruction in less than 2 mins. Super easy.

Maybe it was Narfi himself who decided to act on his guilty conscience in a lucid moment
@@johnprager662 okay, listen to this conspiracy:
so,Narfi's sister is dead. in a river. who killed her? i think it was Wilhelm. you have another quest where a dark elf has you bring black briar mead to wilhelm illegally. i think Narfi's sister Reyda found out about wilhelm's smuggling deals while out to get plants, so he had to silence her. he then went to kill narfi, and hit him on the head. it didnt kill him, but fucked up his head. the first thing Narfi said after being hit was "Wheres Reyda?" so Wilhelm had to tell him she would be back soon. was good enough for him. thats why when you talk to Wilhelm, he notices Reyda's belongings.
now, when the dragon born comes along asking questions, he sends you to Giermands Hall hoping you would go inside and get yourself killed. thats why he also said the thing about the barrow. he see's you asking questions and is trying to indirectly silence you as well. -copied from javafreak comments
i think narfi was making good enough coin for his food and pay village men to fix that leaking house of his by mining stone. Only his heart was broken cos that woman who took care of him was dead in the river bottom

@@SAMOEDRA443 It was a vampire. He’s someone you’re sent to kill when in the dawnguard and if you read his journal you’ll see that he wrote about eating a young lady in Ivarstead.
The dark brotherhood are unreasonably weak in this game
FilterExel Astrid is insane, of course she wouldn’t think through
They abandoned sithis and the night mother
I don't see what's so unreasonable about them being weak
@@thomastakesatollforthedark2231 I don't really think she was insane, just REALLY fucking stupid, Cicero is insane.
@@FilterExel Either that or there were other members they forgot to mention to you for some reason.
I still find it hilarious how stupid it is that astrid contacts the empire so they kill you and somehow ends up telling them where the sanctuary is at so they end up raiding it and killing everyone. Either astrid is literally the dumbest person in tamriel or bethesda needs to fire its writers.
Meh too! xD
They already knew where it was though.
That's why she offered the deal, both because she wanted the main character dead, and to protect her power.
Makes me think astrid and delphine are long lost sisters of stupid
why not both?
There’s a vampire with a book that says he was looking for food in the town the guy’s sister was living in during the same time frame she disappeared and since no one else went missing and the vampire was fed, I’m pretty sure it’s the vampire who killed the sister

The dark brotherhood is one of my favorite quest lines, when i did it there was still an air of mystery in the game for me, making it even more special

There actually was going to be a way to dismantle the Thieves Guild, which would have involved teaming up with Mjoll the Lioness. However, it was apparently cut at some point during development.

I enjoy doing all the immoral questlines first, and then doing the good guy questlines so my character experiences some sort of redemption arc.
you do know its intended for multiple playthroughs right?
@@StevenLeeStudios you do know that you can do everything and justify as a moral redemption arc, right?

Immy Dubby I’m not saying everyone should be killed eho isn’t liked, but I’m saying killing Narfi is one of the best thing the brotherhood has done. Yes, maybe he didn’t kill his sister, but he sounds like he wants to die after you say what happened to his sister. @@5AMACE oh no. I'm not saying you're wrong or whatever. Sorry if I had made you feel that way. It's just that killing people because someone else told you too is a bit unfair. @ıoq ɥnʎ depressed people aren't mentally ill (crazy). Narfi is. Of course it's a mercy kill
So, yes, it should be fine considering it would be a mercy kill.
i personally believe the reason narfi was a target was most likely because the dark brotherhood had a contract on narfis sister and wanted to avoid him accidentally exposing them or causing suspicion that could lead to them

technically, the killings(except for some of the main storyline) are given coz people has asked for them. That's what i say too! It was sweet getting shadowmere. And cicero is fkng annoying. As annoying as the fkn talking dog 😆
He's invincible I once had him kill the entirety of the riften guard for me
Reasons to join the DB: Babbette is the best "child" in the game, Cicero is a fun follower, Dawnstar gives you a 24/7 place to buy/sell stuff, Astrid's death is a satisfying one, getting to kill the Emperor.
Don't forget Shadowmere!
@@wwlcat Oh yeah. Shadowmere is a pretty helpful ally some times.
Why... in god's name... would you EVER have Thieves Guild in any place besides last?
@@littlemoth4956 why would you ever have it last? It had a plot twist, you learn about corruption, you get dope armor and weapons as well as skeleton key temporarily, the guild has interesting members, more fun missions than the majority of companion or college missions. Like why wouldn't it be?
Dark brotherhood wins above it though because assassination is fun and a better twist and story. Better characters too in my opinion and fun benefits
Dark Brotherhood questline is far superior in Oblivion
@@u.s.citizen9933 the story and contracts are lame
@@littlemoth4956 lol the College of Winterhold questline is the worst; Thieves Guild is actually decent
