Additionally, the Greek word that modifies Mediator used in that verse (heis), “One”, has a slightly different definition than the Greek word author could have used (monos), “One”, or “Sole/Only one”. Heis can mean “Primary, or first in a succesion/line” of Mediators. I found that quite convincing.
(Double check my spelling of the Greek)

I find many non-catholics fail to distinguish between agent and agency. Christ is always the sole Agent, or as the bible puts it; the sole Mediator. The 'How' or Agency of that mediation can be many-fold. For example I can only think of very very few people who have had the Gospel given to them directly by Jesus or had it infused into their intellect. The vast majority or 99.999999% of us either heard it preached to us or read the bible. Thus the preacher or the bible itself mediated the gap between unbelief and God with Christ still being the sole mediator; but we see He could use either of those agencies to accomplish His mediation. Most people want to pretend they are so pure intentioned and holy that they are already standing in the immediate presence of God; and become offended if you point out the vast gap that still exists for nearly all of us. I am glad such videos as yours are helping to clarify these points for both un-catechized catholics and non-catholics alike. Keep the Faith.

In v.1, "δεήσεις" is better translated "petitions" and "ἐντεύξεις" is better translated "requests." Even if "ἐντεύξεις" does mean "intercession," arguing that it is intercessory prayer is eisegesis.

17 Six days later, Jesus took Peter, James, and John, the brother of James, up on a high mountain by themselves. 2 While they watched, Jesus’ appearance was changed; his face became bright like the sun, and his clothes became white as light. 3 Then Moses and Elijah[a] appeared to them, talking with Jesus. So another word, Moses is dead, don't you agree? so how come Jesus is talking to dead people? Jesus said I am the way and life even in death if you believe in me, you will have eternal life.

Pastors, teachers, etc are there for baby Christians
To point them to Christ and show them the goodness of Christ
    Goodness of Christ is..
He made everyone one as kings and priests
Whether you like it or not.
Out of kings and priests designation.some operate more as pastors, teachers etc
    Thats what Paul mean
Example if I can have access to my home directly, why I need to use my neighbour fence to jump into my house
So baby Christians doesn't know what to do?
So pastors teachers etc they will educate them
And teach them that they got direct access to God
    Through Christ.
But we are not making any confessions to earthly priest
And rely on earthly pastors to do some thing for you...looks silly
Only you need them to teach how you can get directly to God by yourself.
Wen you got that revelation you teach others, you become a teacher, pastor or Apostle
And you teach others not to depend on you...
But show the direct way that there is only one mediator between man and God
    Which is Christ Jesus
All other sources of Paul mentioned should point and direct to Christ but sources should not become something you practice whole life....bcze you are a priest
    You are a king
Sources are there to learn and move on...
It should not become a traditional activity

👉👉REVELATION 5:8 Jesus, the one mediator, receives the prayers of the saints which are offered to him. This scripture is in both the Catholic AND protestant versions of the bible, yet is ignored by protestants. Here's a few more scriptures they ignore:
➨ INTERCESSION OF MARY & THE SAINTS IN THE BIBLE ...INCLUDING BIBLICAL PROOF that SAINTS ARE NOT AMONG THE DEAD:
The Protestant claim that we are forbidden to speak to / pray to Mary and the saints is NOWHERE in the Bible. In fact, the following scriptures were copied (by me) directly from the Protestant version of the Bible: ...
➨INTERCESSION of a holy person on our behalf:
    ● JOB 42:8 8 Now therefore take seven bulls and seven rams, and GO TO MY SERVANT JOB, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and MY SERVANT Job SHALL PRAY FOR YOU, FOR I WILL ACCEPT HIS PRAYER NOT TO DEAL WITH YOU ACCORDING TO YOUR FOLLY; for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has.
    ➨INTERCESSION of MARY:
    ● JOHN 2:1 At the wedding feast at Cana, it was Mary who asked Jesus to help the wedding party.
➨The KING Honours his mother's request:
    ● 1 KINGS 2:20: Then she said, “I have one small request to make of you; do not refuse me.” And the king said to her, “Make your request, my mother, for I will not refuse you.”
(Jesus is the Greatest King and he also honours his mother's requests)
    ➨INTERCESSION OF THE SAINTS:
    ● REV 5:8 The prayers of the Saints are offered to Jesus the lamb.
    SAINTS ALSO WORKED MIRACLES:
➨ JOHN 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
➨ PAUL RAISES A MAN FROM THE DEAD:
    ● ACTS 20:7-12
9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.
10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.20:
    ● MARK 6:12-13...
12 They went out and preached that people should repent.
13 They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.
    ● ACTS 19:12 The Handkerchief of Paul healed sick people:
12 so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them.
    ● ACTS 5:15 The shadow of Peter healed the sick:
so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them.

➨SAINTS ARE NOT AMONG THE DEAD: AND THEIR INTERCESSION IS BIBLICAL: They share in the ressurrection of Jesus: (Protestants attack Biblical saints while they follow dead reformers)
    ● MATTHEW 27: 52 -53: When Jesus was raised from the dead Many were raised up with him. 53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
    ● LUKE 23 v 39-43...Jesus told the good thief "today you will be with me in paradise"
    ● REV 19 v 14...when Jesus returns he will be accompanied by his heavenly armies of saints.
    ● 2 COR 5 v 8...Paul tells us that to be absent with the body is to be with the Lord.
    ● JOHN 11 v 25-26...Jesus said I am the ressurrection and the life, he who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives, believing in me will never die.
    ● LUKE 1619-30 The story of the rich man and Lazarus show The Rich man, Lazarus and Abraham, all concious and interacting with each other even though they have physically died.
    ● LUKE 9:30-31 And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias:
31 Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.
(Moses & Elijah were alive, and were yalking with Jesus)
    ● REV 6:10 The souls of the martyrs are before the throne of God, crying out for justice. (they are conscious and actively petitioning God)
    ● HEB 12:1-3 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,
    ● MATT 17:1-13 ...At the Transfiguration of Jesus, he is seen speaking to Moses and Elijah, further showing that Holy ones of God are not among the dead.
    ● JUDE 1:14 Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints

Richard Bennett, who was a Catholic Priest for over 20 years, says in his testimony "I saw from the Bible (I Timothy 2:5) that the role I was playing as a priestly mediator, *exactly what the Catholic Church teaches* but exactly opposite to what the Bible teaches, was wrong." He directly admits that he was taught to have a special mediating authority that belongs to Jesus alone (the way they hear confessions and perform absolutions is a special kind of authority that none of the other types of people you've describe have). Frankly, this answer is just mental gymnastics that Catholics use on Protestants. Intercession is done by all people, but this is not just what Priests do, and Catholics pray to the Mary and dead saints for mediation on their behalf when they should pray to God alone.

    • @Cklert
      @Cklert 11 місяців тому

*"He directly admits that he was taught to have a special mediating authority that belongs to Jesus alone (the way they hear confessions and perform absolutions is a special kind of authority that none of the other types of people you've describe have)."*
Very interesting Bennett says that the power of Confession and Absolution is Jesus' alone considering that Jesus quite explicitly gives the Apostle's the authority to forgive sins. This is something straight out of Scripture:
"Again Jesus said to them, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent Me, so also I am sending you.” When He had said this, He breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you withhold forgiveness from anyone, it is withheld.”" (John 20:21-23)
Unfortunately, the likes of Fr. Bennett and many others are a result of the Church's poor catechesis and seminaries. Fr. Bennett to me, seems like someone who adopted fundementalist views, and uses his authority as a priest to be indicative of the Church's teachings as a whole. But that is not the case. Fr. Bennett was simply wrong, and there are plenty of people within the Church who have called him out on it.

Wow this is Muslim level of interpretation. Praying to the saints is using them as mediators to God which is not what Paul is teaching. Pray for your brother to God. There is not one verse in the Bible where any apostles teach for you to pray to saints.
