Way to repair old school! You guys are keeping a lost art alive. Just goes to show y0ou don't have a small fortune to bring these old beasts back to life.
Thank-you! Yes, this "A" is a really clean unit... a treat to be allowed to help put it together for a good friend with a great vision for the project... I think you guys are gonna like how she comes out. It is already well along as I type this... hoping to drive it this summer! Cheers from me and Stella.
Greetings from Colorado, USA. Sweet Build, Model A is my favorite car, I have had 3 of them, truly the nicest looking Ford ever made. Wish I was there to see it and hang with you guys. As a very wise man once told me " Stay High, Stay Dry..thank God Cows can't Fly" See ya on the next one.
@@coldwarmotors Hey I know the feeling, but most of the time I've been lucky and ended up with daily driver beaters that I like (stick shift makes anything, almost, anything better and easier and cheaper to get) so I know a lot of basics and repairs, and get to see some cool scrapyards, so you can learn how to the part off. If ya hear of Tercels, Escorts or Rangers cheap, tell me or grab me one or a couple.
Outstanding video as always. I love seeing how sensitive you folks are to the originality of the cab and the lengths you went to preserve almost everything. Most projects get the lazy treatment from an impatient owner with bright paint and cheesy modern interiors. You folks are treating the old iron (and wood for that matter) with such respect. Can't wait to see this beauty on its next stage of resurrection!
Hey, thanks so much for saying so... I hope I can find a way to make it carry on now that I'm on the "Not advertiser friendly" list. I'll quit before i censor myself and my friends so that some giant corporation's PR department approves. They can choke on it. Thanks again for your support, I have the best community of subscribers on the Tube, I think... Cheers!
Awesome work guys. Fun to watch your reconstruction. Makes me happy. I have been a lover of the Model A since my childhood when they were still common daily drivers.
Hi Jim! Thanks again for continuing to support our little channel here! Glad you like the "A" like I do! Several of my friends drive them; a real treat to work on too! A little metal work, some riveting, some cabinetry... it's got it all! Haha cheers from me and Stella.
Absolutely love your channel. Best automotive repair/ restoration channel on youtube. Fantastic practical mechanical skills and knowledge combined with low key Canadian warmth and charm. And of course your beautiful girl Stella!
Wow now that's a great video rebuilding a classic. Even riveting the floor pans back in like ford did and ash supports for the roof couldn't be more perfect. Gotta be stoked about that job and the patch panels you made just a perfect fit. Two thumbs up.
Keep doing what you are doing, you still have a whole bunch of us supporting you and stella :) I love what you do and always find myself checking on your channel for new material. look forward for the next vid.
Circa 1962 my father bought a 1931 Model A pickup. It had a good running B engine with a C crank. He did a cosmetic restoration on it. Several years later he bought a 1930 roadster that he did a frame off restoration. He sold the pickup and afterwards wished he had swapped the p/u engine into the roadster that had a rebuilt A engine. About 0.150 overbore... Anyway. Dad said that very late 1931 pickups had a steel top. No cloth insert. I've never seen one. Have you guys seen or heard of such a truck? And keep up the good work. Awesome videos!
Scott - thanks to you, Stel and the guys for a great video project. Your skill with the metal and wood is superb. It's nice to see the beautiful new building that you're working in too! Like many others, I get excited when you post, and a nice long video too! Add me to the list willing to pay my share, so you may stay true and not wrinkle under big brothers thumb. Keep up the great content and give Stel another biscuit! Cheers from Chuck in Kansas!
Shire Vision and Determination are only half of a build like this.. Obviously it takes so much SKILL. Very impressed as usual and Can't wait to see how she goes. Respect = )
Hey, thanks for the note and the kind words; we genuinely appreciate that anyone would take the time to send us a few words of encouragement, especially now that UA-cam is doing everything they can to make me walk away from the thousands of hours of work that have gone into making this channel somewhere for real car people to hang out and, hopefully, learn a few things about the best hobby in the world. More on the way soon; cheers from me and Stel!
A couple of friends I had in high school back in the late sixties drove coupes like this daily so it can be done. One guy installed a gas heater in it for year time driving.
19:06 minutes of our Canadian brothers getting together from some brewsky - sounds like home. And yes this is the sweet spot demographic you are hitting in both the US and Canada ie. Real auto hobbyist and restorers, looking to restore their home projects - on a budget, picking up live action footage of skin scraping tips and tricks. I would subscribe again, but i did already did :-) Would love to put in an offer for the 58 dodge as well. The forward look rocks.. can't wait for more!!
Hey, thanks for the note and for checking it out... I know how you feel! I've got 3 or 4 on the go at any time! Cheers from me and Stella and the rest of the guys that help out here just for the hell of it and to make cool cars for each other to enjoy.
Man I don't know what I would do if you had to stop making UA-cam videos. This is hands-down my favourite UA-cam channel. If you do opt to set up a Patreon I'd certainly support you.
Hey, thanks for continuing to watch this stuff! We genuinely appreciate every bit of support and encouragement as we keep showing how this stuff can be done by ourselves without just turning on the money taps. All the best from everyone here at CWMC!
Thank-you for watching this stuff! We have a bottomless supply of these old heaps to work on... I had better get busy! Cheers from everyone here at CWMC.
Very entertaining. Even Stella......especially Stella! Love old cars and love the approach to bringing them back..... No 40K in parts and an A Team....just regular guys having some fun. I remember me and a buddy getting a 62 impala running inside a junk yard. They were not happy at first then used it as a their torch carrying car for years Keep up the great work. Love to see more Model A. Jim
Cool project!! Thanks for taking us along on this one. I like the attention to detail and keeping things original as possible. Now about that Acura engine...
Haha! Tanks for the note and for continuing to support our little channel here. Lots more work on this awesome "A" coming up soon! Cheers from me and Stel.
Oh I'm so greatful for your little channel. It just the sort of thing I'd love to be doing. I actually made contact with Dean a while ago. I was selling some Ford tail lights on a Facebook group and had a chance encounter. So who knows maybe we'll cross paths one day. Please just keep doing what you're doing. It's bar far the best car content on UA-cam right now.
Fine quality work, men ! Impressive ! On a side note, it is good to see that you go to great lengths to appease the C.C.S.A.G. ( Canadian Canine Screen Actors Guild ) .
Great video and work! Really impressive and funny! I'm sure Stella has a certain amount of screen time guaranteed in her contract. Such a diva. GL & HH my friend, Brian
Oh, she does for sure! Good thing, too, because no one is watching this stuff to look at me! Thanks again for continuing to support this little channel and taking the time to send us the odd note... Cheers!
Hey, thanks for saying so. I think I will have to go in a direction like Patreon, because I refuse to start scripting or censoring myself and my friends so that I can be a shill for some gigantic corporation. I wouldn't ask, but these videos take a lot of time to put together, and if I'm getting nothing for it, I might as well just shut the camera off and keep working on stuff that actually pays. All the best to you from me and Stella.
100%!! If you had to censor, then it takes away from the true spirit of what you guys are doing. And censor what? A little bad language that most kids learn before kindergarten!! Some people are just a little too uptight!! Keep up the videos - lots of us out here really enjoy them just as they are!!
Scott, Very nice teamwork! I can't imagine what those ash roof top supports would have cost if a supplier offered them. Actually, now that I think about it, I suspect someone out there makes them, but I'll bet a wooden nickel they would be pricey. Best Regards, Tom
Hi Tom! Thanks for the note! The wood kits are available for these As, but you have to buy the complete kit, and this truck needed only these few pieces, so we decided to make them and save as much of the original wood as possible. Cheers!
Nice work, and attention to detail! My only question is where is the rest of the car? Sure the body is shaping up nicely, but what about the motor and stuff? I look forward to more updates! -Nick.
COLDWARMOTORS... I have been watching your vids for awhile now, actually via thru my wife`s channel. ( now have my own :) When you tube gets over corporate they will be another tech Co in the dust bin, you guys will go for ever , being real is ok with me! love your vids
I think it's a way for your fans to say thank you for what you have done to date. You are not asking, just providing an address where cash contributions could be sent to Coldwar Motors.
Not sure about the 30/31's but the 29 pickups that subfloor channel directly in front of the seat riser is stamped to indicate which assembly plant that vehicle came from. Should be about in the middle left to right. Might check to see if this one is stamped since you don't know much about this body. If you find a stamp, I believe there is some info on the MAFCA (Model A Ford Club of America) that will de-code it. Does your friend have the rest of the running gear, bed, fenders, etc??? Model A's are the best !!!
Hey, thanks for the note and the info... I passed it along to the owner and we'll have a look for sure! We have all the rest of the truck, including the original box.... All coming up in the next videos in this series! Cheers from me and Stella.
Whenever I see you guys smoking a joint I think of Popeye eating spinach and his music playing while he beats up Bluto or builds a while house in 5 seconds or whatever. I think you should cut an episode like that except you speed up the footage until a repair project is done, it would be funny as hell. :)
I'm amazed they still turn up now & then, the old trucks had to be tough, the roads? if you could call them that, and the fact of the great depression and 86 years of indifference. Sounds like some Seniors I have known.....Machines can be fixed, people however.....
Yes, very rare to find a good one of these nowadays... This one had definitely had a rough working life though... there were cracks everywhere and lots of old damage to be considered and repaired where necessary. Cheers!
Hey! Thanks for the note! Always a treat to hear from the beautiful state of Texas, home of my favorite band and at the top of my bucket list for places to visit. Thanks for watching this stuff! Still snowing, but starting to taper off now... Just the mud! Haha cheers from me and Stella.
Scott, it seems that you tube is demonitizing a lot of videos. Another guy that saves cars fron the crusher, Jonathon W, has been demonitized. Why? Well he said on one video "a big fat weld" and apparently he offended some welds out there so he has just been putting them up without commercials. Keep up the good work buddy!
I had no idea this was your primary business. It must be great to do what you love. By the way, you should probably make a run and buy a few more old beasts.
---->>>> Anytime I have a problem with a used vehicle I have, I've often found it advantageous to try and speak to the original owner. Some people choose Not to do that, all for various reasons.
"I had to stop making that joke because I kept getting laid!" Really, fellows, don't you think this sort of language detracts from the tone you have set for the rest of the show?
Well, things are greening up down here, just returned from a week at Mud Creek, Georgia with some buds, riding the twisties and consuming chloresterol bombs. I should have carried my video camera and brought back proof on the existence of The Poet because all my riding buds saw him, too. Getting ready for some two-wheeling to Montana, and The Poet really wants to go. What the hell...he ain't missed one yet. In the endless meantime, another dose of mindless bullshit to anesthetize any remaining brain cells. One more good toke and I'll have to move to Indiana to avoid involuntary commitment. DETROIT HEARTBEAT I've lost me motor long ago, God knows the place and time. Me wheels and box bereft as well, What's left ain't worth a dime. 'Tis true I'm bare of most me parts And I won't roll nor will I start; They've mostly rendered me apart... But the bastards never took me heart. The Unknown Poet Formerly Known As The Unknown Poet (Hoping to be taken to Glacier National Park, The Poet has cleverly inserted a semicolon, the most misunderstood and useless symbol in the English language, and maybe Kinneddian as well). GET THAT PIECE OF DETROIT HISTORY ON THE ROAD!
Hi from the old junkyard! Thanks so much for the note; nice to hear that at least one of us is getting some 2-wheeler time in! I have a lot of plans to get out on the bikes this year; I'd like to make a vid or two while we're at it... Just sold a nice CB750 project to a good friend, so now I have a little funding to tidy up another... Also a couple other sweet bike projects to get going on... so much to do! Please give the Poet our regards again, and tell him how much we appreciate his efforts (I know they come at some considerable expense to your bar stock) and always look forward to the next. I hope that someday the lovely wife will consent to let you come visit the frozen North here; tell her there are often several snow-free days in a row, suitable for any number of outside activities. I can't think of any right now, but I hear about them. More on this sweet "A" project soon here. I will also be making a video soon explaining my idea to keep this channel alive without compromising my standards. If I'm gonna be labelled "Not Advertiser Friendly", I will deny them access to the best group of real car enthusiasts on UA-cam before I submit to censorship on any level. All the best to you and yours from me and my best girl Stel! s
Well, The Poet generally drops in around 2:00 AM, hoping to catch me asleep so he can water the Scotch. If I see the little fink I will pass along your comments. He did ask me to tell you (and I quote) that "things are looking up when I see the pup". I'd say you're looking at a few skinned knuckles on that old '31 jobbie. Ain't it great?
When you get a Patreon acct, and/or a paypal.me acct, then post it on your vids in the top section, and maybe mention it on your blogspot page as well.
Way to repair old school! You guys are keeping a lost art alive. Just goes to show y0ou don't have a small fortune to bring these old beasts back to life.
Hey, thanks for saying so, and for watching this stuff! Doing it yourself is really the best part of the whole hobby as far as I am concerned...
Thanks for bringing us along for the ride. And never forget who is truly the star of the show, Stella!!!
That's right! I am very lucky to have such a beautiful and talented star to work with! Cheers from me and my girl Stel...
Very cool my Canadian brothers. You don't find them that clean much anymore. She will be sweet stock.
Thank-you! Yes, this "A" is a really clean unit... a treat to be allowed to help put it together for a good friend with a great vision for the project... I think you guys are gonna like how she comes out. It is already well along as I type this... hoping to drive it this summer! Cheers from me and Stella.
Exceptional commentary during the riveting! I had a good laugh.
Hey, thanks for watching this stuff... I have the best friends for sure. Cheers from me and Stella!

Keep on doing what youre doing! Really appreciate you showing the actual repair processes not just the before and after!
Thanks, will do! Cheers from me and Stella...
That cab mount fabrication was just awesome. You do good work. Plenty of practice over the years!!
Hey thanks... Yep; haven't bought a decent car yet, so lots of practice making stuff up to make the holes go away! Cheers from me and Stel...

I love how these guys just talk shit all the time! Genuine dudes!
Enjoy watching and like the quality of repair work your doing. Look forward to seeing it all done.
Thanks! Glad you liked it. I'm having a lot of fun with this one... Cheers!
Love it. This is my absolute favorite channel on youtube!

Hey thanks; always a treat to hear from people who look forward to this nonsense! All the best from me and Stel.

That's a neat project. It's good to see Stella keeping tabs on your progress. Thanks. I'll enjoy seeing the rest of this 'restoration.'
What a fun channel!
Shire Vision and Determination are only half of a build like this.. Obviously it takes so much SKILL. Very impressed as usual and Can't wait to see how she goes. Respect = )

Love your videos. And I love seeing that old LeCar is still out there.
Hey thanks for watching them; all the best from me and Stella and the little Renault! Haha
Another enjoyable video, that's a neat little torch you were using for the rivet job. Also there's always room for more Stella.
Thanks! The torch is just a little MAP gas deal... worked really well for this job, actually! Cheers. More Stella on the way! Haha.
A couple of friends I had in high school back in the late sixties drove coupes like this daily so it can be done. One guy installed a gas heater in it for year time driving.
Love the smooth jazz in the background.
The entire time you guys are taking the piss out of modern hot rods, all I could think of were those hideous Ring Bros. builds!
Great work on the old Model A.
Nice work on the top.. nice work on the hole thing... best channel on UA-cam 😁
you boys are killing me. ive got a 31 model A coupe at my buddies that ive been dying to get working on.....so many projects, so little time.

Mine has a 4 banger factory and creeper gear
A body that good should go back on a Model A Chassis, with a original drive train. You can allways beaf up the engine!
That's the plan! More on the way soon! Cheers.
I had no idea this was your primary business. It must be great to do what you love. By the way, you should probably make a run and buy a few more old beasts.
Haha! More heaps on the way here soon, for sure! Cheers.
musti1 has an old vw bus as found !
---->>>> Anytime I have a problem with a used vehicle I have, I've often found it advantageous to try and speak to the original owner. Some people choose Not to do that, all for various reasons.
It's coming along nicely, but......where's the rest of the truck? lol
Oh! It's coming up soon! Haha cheers...
Struts?
Hey guys you all don't have any grill parts for my 1950 Ford car?
Hi! Sorry, I don't actually sell parts, but you shouldn't have too much trouble getting the bits you need for the lovely 1950 model Ford! Cheers.
He has the rest? chassis motor etc?
Oh yeah... just no need to have it all here and just in the way... Thanks for the note and for watching this stuff!
Mines also a daulie
DETROIT HEARTBEAT
I've lost me motor long ago,
God knows the place and time.
Me wheels and box bereft as well,
What's left ain't worth a dime.
'Tis true I'm bare of most me parts
And I won't roll nor will I start;
They've mostly rendered me apart...
But the bastards never took me heart.
The Unknown Poet Formerly Known As The Unknown Poet
(Hoping to be taken to Glacier National Park, The Poet has cleverly inserted a semicolon, the most misunderstood and useless symbol in the English language, and maybe Kinneddian as well).

Yea somebody buy the Dodge a Super Comando 440 magnum engine, please!
this is likely the best year for a model a, do not get a 28
When you get a Patreon acct, and/or a paypal.me acct, then post it on your vids in the top section, and maybe mention it on your blogspot page as well.
Thanks for the tip! I'm looking into setting all that stuff up... I'm not too savvy about any of it, but probably time to figure it out! Cheers.
