    I bought a used pt92 for 200 bucks because the wood grips were skinned up and the finish had worn badly from rough treatment--it looked bad. One of my "friends" called it a junker (he owned a Beretta) I am a woodworker hobbyist, I sanded the grips and rough spots on the frame and slide til they were smooth as a mirror and touched up the finish with cold blue and "aluminum black'. I polished all internal metal to metal parts, added moly lube and it had a smooth greasy feel it didn't have before. It was shooting perfectly. When compared to the friend's Beretta it was easy to see the junker was the better gun. It only took a little sweetening up from me.

    I just recently Purchased a Brand New Taurus PT92, I must say I do not regret it at all. I'm a first time gun owner and Always had my father and uncle train me with a Beretta 92fs.
    However a Beretta is just not an option for my budget and I will be honest Girsan Regard was a nice gun but the Taurus PT92 just was my prefrence when shooting it and handling it. The Frame Mounted saftey was another winner for myself as well along with the Decocker. Glad to be apart of the Taurus PT92 Club :)

    My first gun out of the military was a used Taurus PT92. I traded it many many years later for my first Colt AR-15. They gave me $50 more than I paid for it......but I regretted getting rid of it almost immediately. 3 years ago I bought myself another PT92 for my birthday. I love having it in my collection.

    I got my pt92 about 8 years ago and i love it. It is alittle too big for my small ass to carry but its an awesome home defense gun as it holds alot of rounds and the weight alows it to have almost no recoil so easy to get multiple shots on target.

    Thanks for your review. In 1990 I purchased a used Taurus PT99, same as the PT92 but without adjustable sights. I have since purchased a PT92 made in the mid-1990s. Neither pistol has the locking mechanism. Over the years I have purchased most of the Taurus handguns and have had no failures. It is a fantastic value! I've owned a Taurus PT99 for over 30 years now, I have owned many guns over the years but this one I have kept and it is currently my EDC. It is big and heavy but with my Alien Gear IWB and a good belt I carry for hours on end without discomfort.
    The only problem I had with this pistol was related to the original magazines so I recommend higher quality aftermarket ones. Thousands of rounds over the years and no problems, just change the springs every decade or so and keep it clean and very light motor oil here and there and that's it, this thing will cycle pretty much every ammo, every time!

    The Taurus PT-92 AR is great, especially the stainless steel models. When the military began having problems with cracking slides (only the military models), Taurus advertised that its PT-92s had superior metallurgy than the Berettas.
    No Taurus 92 ever had slide-cracking issues, but at the time the Taurus, while it was as reliable, it simply didn't have the accuracy of the Beretta, so I didn't keep them. In the early 2000s I bought a stainless Taurus and, to my delight, it was as accurate as my Beretta, and I have it still. And it's frankly a better gun than my Beretta.
    The cock and lock safety alone is worth buying it.
    The S&W 659 is another underrated gun in my view. People love the 5906, but you almost never hear anything at all about the 659. I have two of them and a 5906, and the 659 is my favorite.

    Here in Brazil Taurus used to sell their 92/100 pistols to law enforcement agencies and the military, but the company never bothered to make those pistols easy to upgrade by making it possible to users to replace the sights and so forth because it would make the weapon more expensive to the buyers. Taurus should pay more attention to the 92 market, specially when there are excellent companies that customize the Beretta 92 in the USA. I'd really like to see night sights and a centurion sized or carry sized PT92, just like the Berettas customized by Wilson Combat. Maybe Taurus could offer options on their PT917 model as well!

      @viniciusmartin 3 роки тому +1

      @@yrsued Hello Friend.
      In short, until 2003 it was possible to buy weapons in Brazil as in the USA, with documents and money.
      In 2003, the disarmament statute was implemented and shortly thereafter, I think that in 2005 there was a referendum on the topic, and even with the citizen's vote in favor of weapons, the president at the time did not release it released (Luiz inácio Lula da Silva)
      In 2018 Bolsonaro was elected and one of his promises was to revoke the disarmament statute.
      He really has been working hard on this, but ... the left parties and even the Supreme Court itself have been working hard to hinder the changes that Bolsonaro has been trying to implement.
      So, whenever they can legalize all the changes proposed by the current president.
      Regarding the acquisition of weapons, we have two paths in Brazil.
      1 - Through the Army (we have had many improvements)
      2 - Through the Federal Police (has not evolved much)
      In either case it is necessary.
      1 - The realization of a basic course of shots and weapons
      2 - Written test
      3 - Practical test
      4 - Psychological test
      But it's one thing to get possession (authorization to have a gun at home)
      Another thing is to get the Porte (authorization to move with a gun) this is practically impossible.

The story that I heard is that several soldiers had the slide break free while shooting their beretta 92 and were killed by the slide going through their eye sockets, one of the reasons that they were dropped. The Taurus pt92 is not readily available, new, they r only sold on online Auctions been biddding $600 haven’t won yet. Picked up one up used for $400 at pawn shop took me a month to find

    • @yrsued
      @yrsued 4 роки тому +1

      Well, NOTHING is readily available now, that is a fact we all have to deal with. They are being made, they are making their way to distributors and I know the distributors don't want to hold on to them when orders are piling up from retailers. The problem is they sell as soon as they hit the shelves in the stores and more often than not, they NEVER hit the shelves, they are sold once they come off the shipping box!! IF you want a brand new one, my suggestion is to become friends with someone at a Gun Store!!

    Is this pistol marked Bainbridge GA on the slide? I'm trying to understand now if the pistol (at least in part) is made in GA now, rather than in Brazil.

    • @yrsued
      @yrsued 4 роки тому +1

      OK, this requires a long explanation, but here it goes. Taurus USA is in GA, it used to be in Miami, the older guns were marked Miami, FL, the new Guns are marked Bainbridge, GA.
      I don't think Taurus makes ANY guns in the USA, they import them. But, Glock for example, makes the Glock 17 in the US, frame and slides, but most small parts are still made in Austria. That happens with many companies that sell guns to the US Government, they have to make most of their guns in the US, like Beretta, SIG and Glock. back in the early 2000's, some Glock parts were imported, like slides, but the G17 Frames were made here, in GA!!!
      Furthermore, all imported firearms MUST have their US Import Marks on the gun somewhere, that is Federal Law, so that might be the main reason you see two different manufacturer places.
      Springfield Guns are either Croatian or in the case of the 1911's forged in Brazil. The 1911's have final assembly in the US, the Croatian Guns are imported complete!!, they still say Croatia and Geneseo, IL

    • @ofidiotabagista5259

      @@yrsued According to an interview with Taurus CEO I watched last month they make many guns in US and they're moving towards producing even more. Gun regulation in Brazil is too strict and all new guns require years of bureaucracy and army trials to be released here(we still don't have the G2S, G3, G3C, and we never had the Curve, e.g.). They plan to produce all new guns in US and import them back to Brazil, as that'd make the bureaucracy way easier(imported guns don't have to undergo the years of trials if they're approved in their country of origin).
      My understanding is they only produce their old guns(Beretta clones, Revolvers, Winchester clones, etc.) in Brazil, everything else is made in US.
