    Enjoyed your positive review. I agree with all your points, low recoil and comfortable handling. As for reliability, I'm shooting a PT 99 AF, same pistol but with adjustable rear sight. It was manufactured in 1986. Used it for CCW qualifications. Accuracy only gets better over time. I should mention that while the Beretta 92 has many plastic parts including the guide rod, these pistols are all metal, steel slide, alloy frame.

      just purchased this. its s tank. i hate reviewers defaulting to it being a "clone" which imo blatantly implies it as inferior which is suspect to say the least. this is a Beretta that has been refined,!

    I just recently Purchased a Brand New Taurus PT92, I must say I do not regret it at all. I'm a first time gun owner and Always had my father and uncle train me with a Beretta 92fs.
    However a Beretta is just not an option for my budget and I will be honest Girsan Regard was a nice gun but the Taurus PT92 just was my prefrence when shooting it and handling it. The Frame Mounted saftey was another winner for myself as well along with the Decocker. All in All very happy with the PT92, My version is the Black one.
    Fun fact the PT92 AFS, it is the handgun of choice for SGT Nicolas Angel from the movie Hot Fuzz, The handgun makes its appareance when Angel and his partner Danny Butterman take on Sanford.

    Awesome weapon. My PT92AF is 28 years old and still going strong. If I may make a suggestion. Your rounds may be going low left because your finger isn't far enough on the trigger. So you are pushing it instead of squeezing it. When you relax and shoot, you have time to compensate for the push. Just my experience with some of the CHCL students I've had over the years.

    I have my second one that I purchased in 2018. It shoots anything I feed it flawlessly. My first one was purchased back in 1989 and it too is reliable and accurate. BTW - I soot out to 100 yards and can still hit the center of the target with a 3" - 4" group. Nice video. Thanks!!

    I know this video is a few years old.
    I shot a Beretta 92A1 for the first time a couple days ago as a range rental, and it was nice. I'm a Taurus guy because of price, and I was thinking of getting a TH9 or 9c, but now... maybe I'll get a PT92. My EDC (and only) is the Taurus G2c, I've owned it for about a year.

      The PT92s seem to be a solid design that has been around for a long time. I have friends that don’t like Taurus firearms because they have been burned on QC issues but guns like the G2C, G3 and PT92 have made them fans again.

    Its a great pistol. I got one back in the late 80s. Love the trigger. Trigger was better than most Beretta 92s I have shot. Good accuracy and I think the trigger has a lot to do with that. I did out shoot a Beretta 92 with it. Price has not changed a whole lot. I think I paid around $350-375 back then. That was when I was still going through that wonder nine phase back then and trying out a lot of them. The Smith 9s were really good also. Thanks for the trip back.

    • @travisp11
      @travisp11  7 років тому

      RB M No problem. I've owned and fired several Berettas and the PT92 is up there in overall build quality with the 92FS.

    • @rbm6184
      @rbm6184 7 років тому +1

      Mine was the early version (I think it was an AF) and had none of the add ons like the new ones have. No decocker, no gun lock, no 1913 rail, 15+1 shot, wood grips, and solid hammer. I put a rubber wrap around grip on it in place of the wood panels that really improved the grip. I had no complaints with the pistol at all. I also owned a Beretta 92 and though it was a good pistol (had a good trigger unlike others I had seen), I still lean toward the Taurus 92.

    • @travisp11
      @travisp11  7 років тому

      RB M it really is a classic look for that pistol, though.

    • @rbm6184
      @rbm6184 7 років тому

      Haha. Yeah, when I sold it or traded it (stupid to do I know but it was the wonder nine thing going on), I put the wood panels back on and just threw in the rubber wrap around for free. The wood panels did look good but shooting with them was a little on the slick side.

    i always felt the term 'speed loader' was kind of comedic, given that it's slower than hand loading.
    btw, a lot of the PT 92s and other M9 model pistols from Taurus were actually made in a Berretta factory with the same machines beretta used, so they tend to be very high quality clones.

    • @travisp11
      @travisp11  8 років тому +1

      Sir Poopsalot I agree that you can reload faster by hand without the use of a speed loader except, IMHO when you are shooting extended range sessions. My thumbs sometimes get beat up by the feed lips of some of my magazines so the speed loader can definitely offer some relief when you are gonna burn a few hundred rounds through your pistol.

      They were made in the original beretta factory that taurus purchased from beretta. They left all the designs and machines behind and the copyright had expired so taurus decided to make their own version. Its basically the exact same gun. Just a couple of tiny differences.

    Awesome video and intel..new subscriber here.. i have a PT92 AF-D my wife bought for me as a Christmas gift. She purchased the gun in November 2018, and until last week had not shot it.. i have studied this gun and watched many videos for it, and learned how to break it down and clean it and such. My expectations on taking it to the range for the first time was very high, but i was disappointed upon firing it due to shell casings not ejecting every 2-3 rounds causing a jam, and when it did fire i could feel powder blow back on my face. (I was wearing eye and ear protection) The gun had been cleaned a couple times before i even took it to the range. I love the finish on my 92- blue/cerakote, love all the features but im wandering if it could be a defected gun with issues its having. I have done a deep clean on the gun after firing it, and havent been back to the range yet to test it again...any advice or info?? Thanks in advance!

      What are you using for ammo? Steel case? Reloaded ammo? You should not be feeling anything on your fave except maybe the occasional stray case. It almost sounds like the chamber is too small or not made to spec and it is pinching the rounds or the rounds are not seating properly. Personally, I would send the gun back to Taurus. They also brought back their lifetime warranty, too and it should be covered. Call them and explain what it is doing and get it sent back ASAP to have a gunsmith look at it.

      PedroPablo At Walmart, I can buy 50 rounds of aluminum case 9mm for $8.97. Best price I can get on Federal brass 9mm is around $12. The bullets on both are copper FMJ. I don't generally run steel case ammo in my pistols but aluminum is softer and is easier on the chamber and extractor. Other than hearing about one person that had a case split blowing up the round inside the gun (wich may or may not be true) I have never had a problem with aluminum case Federal.

    You need to do your distance in yards. Post qualification setup: 25 yards strong and weak side. 15 yards strong arm and weak arm. 15 yards kneeling strong side weak side. 7 yards two to center mass and one to the head. 4 yards defensive shooting. Taurus is accurate; you should get a better grouping and 25 yards. Practice and practice.

    Hi! this pistol is made here, and many here can't buy it because it's too expensive! "5,840" reais, we don't have much access to guns, only now with the Bolsonaro government that facilitated purchases, but a lot of bureaucracy and time-consuming, my process is already 3 months old and so far it hasn't come out, a 9 mm ammunition here costs on average" 7" reals can't even be using!! that's why many will live there, to work and achieve impossible dreams here! Brazil!!!!

      @travisp11  6 років тому

      I am going to say No because you will at least need a holster made for a Beretta with a lower accessory rail. The 92 front lower frame is slimmer and more round vs. the Taurus.

    I’ve tried several Taurus hand guns to include both pistols and revolvers. Didn’t like any of them the best review I can give them is they are better then throwing rocks. When you talk feet in shooting 60 feet sounds like a long way away but it’s only 20 yards. This may be one of the best Taurus makes I’ll never own another one.
