We have lots more to do so please keep supporting us x I have to admit that I am rather enjoying finding out all about different regions and food myself.
Australian here. I found you by accident. I like what I see. You have a new subscriber! While I still have a lot of your videos to watch, you have some mighty looking dishes that I can't wait to see! This one alone looks scrumptious.
Happy little accidents are best as the late great Bob Ross used to say. Thank you for taking time to watch our channel and make comments. What part of Australia are you in? I have family I both Sydney and Perth.
First tried this from Sainsburys which also had swede in. It was dreadful !! Hard lumps of uncooked potato and swede very little cabbage or cheese. When we looked up the proper recipe this was it, no swede in sight. John cooked this for us and it was so much nicer than the shop bought one. I’ve also frozen portions and it defrosts and reheats beautifully. Moral of story, make your own. Cheaper and nicer xxx
I've watched other videos of people making this, which included sausage. I'm 65 and had never even heard of Rumbledethumps until a couple mo's ago. I made it with sausage and it was YUMMY!! I see why they love this hearty healthy comfort food ❤
My family is of British origin, and I am always looking for dishes to make from your part of the world. Of course I have made cottage and shepherd's pies, cocka leeky soup, bubble & squeak, but never heard of this. I cook "around the world" without leaving this tiny rural New England USA town anymore. (I have lived on different continents, and traveled extensively in my younger days) I cook Indian, North African, Italian, French, Hungarian, etc., along with many dishes from around the US. THIS is one I have never heard of, and I can't wait to do it today. It is also something the people of New England would love. Right up their taste alley. TY for the video
Thank you 😋 I am learning every time and trying to improve. My wife and I are family cooks and can be quite chatty too. But that’s because it’s not just about the recipes for us, it’s about building a community.
@@BIGOGGIEWORLD I made rumbledethumps tonight for dinner, accompanied with pork chops and buttered lima beans. I'm 81 years young and had never heard of them before. I'm sold, they turned out delicious. I've been to the UK 3 times, loved, Scotland, Wales, England, and Ireland and all the different cuisines in each country. I even liked Haggis. 😂
Well I am so pleased that we have helped give you a new culinary adventure. Where do you live? (I like haggis, Kelly doesn’t as it’s too peppery for her)
@@BIGOGGIEWORLD I live in the USA, very close to the Great Smoky Mountains. The Tennessee side of the Mountains, and have a beautiful inspiring view from my front porch. Was born in Baltimore, retired to here in 2003. Beautiful area of the USA.
love the name and I'm betting my dad had this growing up. Have to make this. His parents were both Scottish, both of their families migrated to Australia with their families when she was a wee small child and he was a teenager, to Shepperton and they stayed there for the rest of their lives.
I am sure that’s possible. Many of these kind of recipes can be adapted to whatever comes to hand and there will always be slightly different variation amongst families.
Hello Oggie, your rumbledethumps look mighty delicious but, to be honest, this is what I call bubble and squeak but without the cheese. Obviously, next time my bubble and squeak will have cheese!
Hi there. And yes you are correct it is a form of Bubble and Squeak as we would call it… different regions have different names and slightly different variations on the theme. But honestly this really is fantastic x
LOVE the regional recipes!!!

@BIGOGGIEWORLD I am about 4 hours west of Sydney. 3 hours if you drive too fast!

One of the best recipes we have done on this channel. A wonderful, hmm let’s say, bubble and squeak variation really. So so good.❤❤❤

Thank you. It’s a great recipe.
Looks great John. I am going to try this next week and serve with a few sausages
All the best
I’m going to do exactly this. Thanks for your suggestion.
Yummy. This sounds fab and someone in the comments said about having it with sausages, I think that’s what I’m going to do.
Sounds great! I may have to try it with sausages myself now.

It's good with tinned tomato and corned beef.

I’ve seen the one in Sainsbury’s with the swede. Didn’t fancy it though. I might try this I find swede a strong taste. 👅

Thank you so much for your kindness. We are just home cooks having a chat with you all as we make food for our family.
Yum! Proper comfort food
Bubble and squeak in all its forms is a true delight x

Wow that’s a wonderful story my friend. My brothers emigrated to Australia in the early 1970’s and lived there all their lives.
This looks delicious

Please do. It’s delicious.
I have heard that some add mashed turnips too.
I am sure that’s possible. Many of these kind of recipes can be adapted to whatever comes to hand and there will always be slightly different variation amongst families.
