    Obsessed with my 2019 odyssey elite. I would never have gotten the top trim but we bought it used last year when nothing else was available and now that I have all the features I don’t know how I lived without them! It has the wireless charger, DVD player and even a freakin vacuum in the back. I have 3 little men in car seats currently. My 1 and 4 year olds are in the second row with the middle seat removed and my 6 year old is in a high back booster in the 3rd row. We have grandparents and preteen neighbors who drive with us often and the magic slide just cannot be beat. Def not the prettiest minivan but I don’t even care. I do think having the roof racks on top makes her look a bit sportier though. Anyway, if you can find one used that’s a higher trim level don’t sleep on it! Can’t sing her praises enough.

    Your previous review of the Odyssey helped us make the decision to purchase a new Elite trim this year. The ventilated front seats, power folding mirrors, and wireless phone charger made sense for us to spend a little extra on the trim package. We have twins and a goldendoodle and there’s plenty of cargo space and comfort for roadtrips. Drives like a dream.

    Just got the 24 odyssey with three kids under 4, and the ability to switch the second row to a bench or captains chairs was the selling feature for me. SO many options for car seats and it’s been amazingly convenient. All vans are ugly, but this is by far the best functioning vehicle I’ve had for 3 littles. (And I’ve had a lot of cars lol)

    I really wish the Odyssey would have the rear view mirror camera. Especially with all the passengers and car seats in the back/middle, that would be extremely helpful, I’ve seen that in that in other vehicles. I wanted AWD drive but going into my 3rd winter with my 2019 odyssey and it’s been fine in the central NY winter with good tires. I’d love the extra MPG if it were a Sienna but also living without that. Truly loving it. Only thing, I wish I went with a higher trim or newer year so I got the upgraded 10 speed, the 9 is a little chuggy. My husband hates driving it but I don’t mind it.

      You know that if they redesign it, they are gonna remove something that makes this awesome, to put in line with other vans. They’ll either make the bench not have captains chair arms, or the center won’t remove and be used as a picnic seat, the third row won’t be able to do tailgate couch mode anymore. Redesigns are for the shareholders not for us!

  • @adambruhn
    @adambruhn Місяць тому

    Great video and fun review, but I’m really surprised that you stopped the review at ‘tailgate mode’ and didn’t show that the rear seats collapse back into that deep storage bin to give you a flat surface that opens up more storage. And as someone else mentioned, all three second seats are removable, so if it’s just you and a partner, you can easily turn this thing into one of most easy to drive cargo vans you can imagine. Honda’s Safety suite is also a standard feature on every trim level, so you’ve got all the perks of brake hold, lane departure warnings, adaptive cruise control, lane tracing, etc.

First choice was the Pilot because I'm not a "mom" but a grandma with 2 twin 6 year olds and a 2 year old and just need an occasional 3rd. row so I'm not sure if I should buy a van? Tailgate mode = Diaper changing station! It's great to have a padded spot that butts right up to the edge of the vehicle to lay your baby down. It's the perfect size and you don't have to hunch over contort your body to try to figure out how to change your baby. And you can still have a little bit of stuff in the trunk cubby so long as it doesn't stick up too much. The seat goes right over top.

    When it comes to reliability and resale value my two picks are Odyssey and Sienna. I like the interior comfort of the odyssey, minus the side vents, so if it at least had a 360 camera option I may be able to do without the AWD. I’m not sure that if I just wait one more year then the odyssey will get one of the two, I can do without the hybrid.
    Second, despite all the love you show minivans, maybe you can do a follow up video as why you still went with a full size SUV or at least an update on how your experience with the SUV had been. I know you were not crazy about the technology so I would like to know if you’re still have with the purchase.

    • @spoutingfiction
      @spoutingfiction 7 місяців тому +1

      Ditto. I’ve been waiting two years for an update to the Odyessy because I love the ride, driving experience and practicality of the interior vs the Sienna. I could do without a hybrid but the extra MPGs would be nice. I also kinda want a shorter version too like the pre 2018 Odyessy.

    I would humbly submit the Carnival's second row bench setup is even better than the Odyssey's. The middle seat is huge and had a tone of movement.
    No magic slide equivalent, though.

      the middle seat in carnival,is very practical. it can go back to 3rd row and let you put three car seat in the 2nd row very easily.

    Be careful about AWD drive vehicles. In general, if one tire is replaced, ALL tires much be replaced. That's because the computers won't play nice this one tire's that a different weight than the others. So, that $200+ tire replacement is now $800-1,000.

    I'm currently stuck between a 2024ex Kia Carnival and a used 2022 Honda Odyssey top trim. The only reason I go to Honda is that it is known that its engine and gearbox are much more reliable than Kia and in the market when it is sold, Honda faces a lower price reduction.
    Comparison between Advise and Carnival for 3 children under 5 years:
    -Honda's magic slide feature is very useful (which, of course, in the carnival, by removing one of the side seats of the second row, we will have almost the same state as the Odyssey)
    - The ability to move the seat in the middle of the second row of the carnival forward and backward is very practical and allows you to install 3 seats in a row without any disturbance. This feature is not available in Honda Odyssey.
    - The interior and exterior design of the carnival is much more modern and beautiful.
    - The price of Carnival is much cheaper than Honda Odyssey
    - The entertainment system of the rear passengers in Honda, which is on the roof, is an advantage that Carnival does not have.
    -Honda doesn't have wireless apple and android, but it has Carnival.
    What do you think between these two options? carnival ex 2024 and odyssey 2022 touring

    I still think I'm going to go Carnival since a piece of my soul is dying moving to a minivan lol and the Carnival seems least offensive to the eye otherwise it's giving potato on wheels. But I love LOVE your content. Minivans have come a really long way , my husband is team practical and I'm team Giant SUV lol.

      I was of the same mindset, but I think we have to go with the Odyssey. 😢
      Kia may have come a long way, but I don't have any doubt that wear on powertrain components will be greater than Honda. That might be okay for the first 10 years due to warranty, but after that, it's probably eventually going to my kids, and we'd rather gamble going with better reputation for the long haul.
      And then with my luck, they'll redesign the look to more SUV style in a couple years (which all minivans should be probably do anyway).
      Maybe we'll get the red and do a Lightning McQueen makeover.

      Recent reliability data is solid for Kia. Not as high as Honda in Consumer Reports recent data but still better than average and Kia is great with JD Power reliability data (though theirs is done at 90 days and 3 years so doesn't measure lasting quality)

      Hi Brandi....keep in mind all the noise "Drone" from the CVT in the Toyota Hybrid, also the major cost to replace the battery should it fail after the warranty period. The other negative is the cost of insurance for a Hybrid. I was shocked our insurance went up with our one hybrid. I'll probably not do another hybrid or EV do to these costs. Lastly......most Hybrids are real dogs that can't get out of their own way.
