Sweet thanks again
Great vid. I’ll be on MB on the 18th this month. Can’t wait
Sharifis and the Mission Belle... the true definition of legendary. One year from now, you'll have 100k subs and sponsors out the yang. We'll talk marketing and the ocean to table angle with your dad when I get you on a trip Ray. True legends take time to build...
Sandy Collora it’s all a dream rn but hopefully one day it might happen. Would be so rad to quit my day job and fish for a living
what silver bait caster is that on the cork rod
Original Daiwa lexa 300.
Damn, what a trip. You all straight slay’d!
Fishing with Uncle Dandan definitely a day I’ll never forget! Limits of yellows and surprise bluefin at the islands! Was so crazy
I would love to fish like that
tommy evans ooohhh mmmaannnnnn! That was one lucky day for me! I’ll never forget this day!
Where was that.
tommy evans Coronado Islands our of San Diego. That bluefin wasn’t too big but it’s a Coronado bluefin which is just as significant as some of these cows getting caught over the past couple years
This video needs more views just so other anglers can learn from the fine example set by everybody aboard this trip when it comes to somebody hooking up on a fish next to you. Everyone who is working together as a well oiled machine. Whether you were passing or stepping aside to let someone else get at the fish Just well done by all.
I don't do it often but this earned the Subscription.
Myke Myers thanks I appreciate that! Yeah I’m really fortunate to be apart of a charter group that knows what they’re doing! Much less tangles and much more landed and needed fish on board
Love the boat and Steve is a great captain but any more than 30 people or so can be hard to fish. The guy swinging the iron in the beginning is proof.
fedge101 Steve is an amazing captain! yeah it’s definitely getting more and more tough to fish the bow as the years go by. Everyone wants to get into surface iron fishing now. Haha literally 1 year ago there was like 4 of us at the bow. Now there’s 10+
I died when I heard the guy in blue hoodie scream “Baaaa” hahaha!!
Maurice B hahaha he’s my favorite to see hook up
Nice catch. We got two Yellowtails last week
Kidz Funtopia Videos nice! What boat were you on?
awesome 🤙🏽
moe joe thanks👊🏼
0:06 was that an unwrapped jigstick blank? I'm so confused
Zach_ Kay lol yeah it was. I think a guy on the boat brought a seeker blank for one of the deck hands
That makes sense lol.
Guy sounds like a pirate when he gets bit lol
Branden's Outdoor Channel lol he’s my favorite person to watch hook up!
Are you joking?
Great brother.....I hope to do it too
Hendrik Alspeer good luck to you
I’m going out tomorrow on the gentleman out of channel island hope it’s a good day
abraham chairez good luck! Last I heard the bait is getting a little better. Not great but better. Bait is a big part of the yellows cooperating on local trips
How was fishing on the gentleman
It didn’t go to good for me. I ended up getting really sick on the boat
abraham chairez bummer. Sorry to hear that. Tip for the future. I take motion sickness pills 12 hours before I get on a boat and again as soon as I show up at the landing
Thank you for the advice I was wearing the patch. But that wasn’t enough. I’ll have to try what u recommend next time
So sick when did you guys go out
Shon Pallan on Saturday! Epic day!
You don’t see that often a calico and a bluefin on the same stop
Jst.w1ll Will no you definitely don’t! Lol we were literally fishing a bass spot and bluefin happened to be there.
Either you throw plastics for bass, or fly line and fish for both and hope to hang a bluefin!
Craziest experience I’ve ever seen while fishing
@5:35 triple take, nuff said
Dr. Harry Paratesties hahaha I forgot about that😂! Get bit and turn into a full blown pirate
I like your mellow fishing style. subscribed, hope to see more vids soon
Dr. Harry Paratesties thanks! I’ll be finally starting to upload again soon. Finally able to get some lines wet for the first time in a long time
hey bro have you fished on the mustang or producer off at H&m landing? im trying to do a overnight trip in SD but im new to the landings over there. any recommendations?
Khai Nguyen unfortunately I’ve never been on an overnight ever. Getting on my first one on the 23rd aboard the pride. I heard the Liberty is a really nice overnight/long range boat
Great video! What surface iron were your showcasing?
Albert Adrian Ambrosio thanks. It’s a steel baits surface iron.
Dirty Hookers is that the brand of the jig? I tried looking it up..
Albert Adrian Ambrosio he doesn’t have a website yet. Only sells through Instagram right now. That’s why I put his Instagram on the video and a link to his page in the description
Great video you should do a subscriber fishing trip out of Dana Wharf
That boats gay
Roger Behle possibly. I was thinking about trying to put together a chartered trip but it’d probably end up being out of Long Beach if I were to do so. It’s pretty much the middle landing from Ventura to SD so I figured that would be the best place for it
Thanks for replying I will definitely try to go out on it
@@Dirty.Hookers count me in! Look into the Triton or Galeforce out of San Pedro.
It won’t be for awhile. I need to first make sure that I would have enough people down for a trip so that I wouldn’t be paying out of pocket because I’d like it to be a chartered trip
What a friken legend!!! I’m new to inshore/offshore fishing and can only afford one reel/rod rig. Any recommendations between the Tranx 500, Tranx 400, Lexa HD 400 , and Lexa WN 400?
I want to catch potential 30#plus YFT, but not too sure if my line set up would be too big for smaller 10#schoolies.
Or should I just get the Tranx 500Hg with two spool setups?
Also I’m not into conventional reels, more of a baitcaster that why i narrowed it down to those reels.
Thanks posting helpful videos and reading comments, and also thanks ahead of time for answering this question!
Philip Phan all of those are fine but the best out of all those reels would definitely be the tranx 500 hg. It’s not too big for 10# schoolies. I’d go 60 lb braid filled. With about a 10 ft top shot of recommend size mono for whatever you’re targeting that day, and a 4-6 ft leader of flouro. That’s what I do with my lexa if I’m using live bait. If I’m throwing any lures on my lexa, I use a 10 ft top shot of 40# mono. Live bait I’ll go 10ft top shot of 30# mono with 4-6 ft leader of 20-25# flouro
Philip Phan the tranx is an amazing reel. If I had to chose 1 out of what you named off, it’d definitely be the tranx 500. If you’re looking for a 400 size reel, the lexa hd or Komodo would be fine. But tranx 500 is perfect. It holds as much line as some conventional reels, easy to cast, powerful. It’s basically the Trinidad but in baitcaster form.
Beast! Thanks for the recommendation man! Hopefully we’ll see each other on tuna charters soon
Would 65#braid be more than enough for the main line?
Philip Phan 65 braid would be perfect. You can go 50 braid if you want. It’s just because of line capacity. You’ll be able to land some good size fish with the amount of line you can hold on the 500. That real loaded up like that would be perfect for any type of fishing. Especially irons!
nice video cool how you sink the video in video real time
Darryl J thanks I started doing that on my last video. Wasn’t sure how people would feel about it but I like it
Everytime I doubt my paddle handles I watch your videos and feel reassured haha
POV FISHING lol the power handles are definitely a lot more comfortable for fighting big fish, but I really like the paddle handles on the 300
hey there!! cool videos. . at the 14:30 mark, you make a comment about using straight 40#. whats the reason for this? thanks!!
am0767 bluefin tuna are SUPER finicky and extremely line shy so I was fishing 20 lb flouro with very light drag. There was 4 sea lions around the boat, and 2 people lost bluefin to them already so I was scared of that happening to me too. If I were able to use 40 and hooked it, I would’ve been able to horse it on in without worrying about too much tension or bringing it in too slow and risking losing it to the seals. Luckily I still landed the fish and it worked out anyways
Yo what do you suggest for a good inexpensive rod for casting surface irons in the 9-10 foot range that would be good for yellowtail/bluefin, keep in mind I’m a inshore/offshore amateur so dunno the difference between rod types so might need to be specific and dumb it down. Like I have no idea what the difference is between the bait version or a jigstick version of the same rod. Was hoping to find something in the $100-150 range any suggestions?
Kent Yammo at that price your best bet might be to check out the turners California rods and see what the have to offer. The California calico stick goes up to 9 foot. That ones pretty cheap but there’s probably some better ones in 9 ft. I’m still pretty new to the long rods myself so I don’t know too many. I know seeker, calstar, cousins, and United composites all make really good rods in the 9-10 range but not for that cheap. If I hear of anything I’ll keep you updated! I suggest talking to a local tackle shop and seeing what they recommend. That’s what I always do when I need info
Those Californian tri helix 9ft Deckhand rods go for 130 on black Friday. If go on bloody decks or craigslist during the off season like winter time or fall as you can find some glass jigsticks pretty cheap like 150. I saw someone selling a seeker ph ulua for 125 on craigslist. Rods that normally go that price are the calstar 90j and the seeker pinhead rods wich are both great rods.
Dirty Hookers - Thanks guys. Yea probably check out turners still got a lil left in a gift card after goin there last week and picking up a couple surface irons. How is that STCi you’re always talking about? Know the lure rating is what I’m looking for (I like casting those heavy 3.5-4.5oz Tady AA/A2/#9 smaller YoYos) but will it work for bigger yellowtail/bluefin in your opinion? Probably a ways away from catching my first bluefin but want to have a rod that will be sufficient for when I start getting into those longer trips. Got a pair of Okuma Shadow Stalker Gulf Coasts and pulled in a 10lb yellow with one of em a couple weeks ago and just didn’t seem like it could handle a 30lb+ fish. Trying to figure out this rod deal on the Internet but damn there are just too many rods out there and I don’t understand what rod is meant to do what job. Gotta make sure to get peoples advice or I’ll somehow end up with like a trolling rod hahaha.
@@AszBall for yoyoing i use a 6ft rod. The last thing you want to do is pull a fish up from 200ft down with a long rod it will hurt your back and kill your arms. The longer the rod the less leverage you have and everything feels alot more heavier. Tady 45s are about 2.9oz and salas 7x about 3.2oz, thier pretty light cause thier aluminum. I don't ever pay attention to Lure weights they mean nothing just pay attention to line class. A 30-60 rod is meant to cast tady 45 and Salas 7x. A 20-40 rod for tady c and lures that weight. Ive never fished an okuma scti but I've fished a shadow stalker and the 8'6 20-40 casts tady 45 really well and any smaller surface iron just as well, if you pair it with a 400 size baitcaster. But for yoyoing you want a short rod for good leverage, and I've never fished were casting was absolutely critical to catching fish on a yoyo iron, I always just drop the yoyo straight down or pitch it out 20ft.
@@AszBall in my opinion you can only learn so much from a you tube comment, go into your tackle shop and tell them what application you want to fish and they will set you up. Turners is good but I think the best shops are the ones were they wrap rods since rod builders know more about rods than anyone. And then after you gained some knowledge go to turners to buy a rod. Because in my experience at turners they will lead you straight to the Phenix rods, and if you ask about another rod they say "I can't recomend that after I've had multiple customers come back with that rod as a two piece", wich I know is false because NO ONE SNAPS A CALSTR 90J
What’s your setup used to catch yellow tail and tuna on this trip
Sid_1026 on the yellows I was using a Trinidad 20a with paired with my 100 j mag. On the bluefin my saltist LD with my graphiter
Great video brotha! What pound line do you use? Mono or braid?
Francisco Jacobo for the bluefin I have a 5 ft leader of 20 lb flouro. And everything else was 40 lb mono. I’m usually a strictly 40 lb person because I prefer to fish yo-yos and jigs
What reel are you using the one with the white handle the ome you got the bluefin with?
Marco Marrujo the reel with the white handle is a Shimano Trinidad 20a and the reel I caught the bluefin with was a Daiwa Saltist LD 50
Oh ok cool bro Thanks for the goid videos and all the great info Bro
Marco Marrujo anytime man! Thank you for the kind words 👊🏼
Dirty Hookers I’m struggling to fit my tn20a on my new jig stick with a cork puppy any suggestions
Kevin Brumfield you will need a universal clamp kit. The shimano reels for some reason are designed for skinny rods. The tiburon universal clamp kit allows you to put it on any size rod
what island were you at
Darryl J I don’t know the names of each island. I just know I was at the Coronado islands haha. But we fished pretty much every island that day
Sick bro! Took out my skiff the other day to oceanside looking for yellows, couldn't find any tho
420 Casting aahh bummer! Last I heard for close bites is they’re were on the outer edge of the kelp right out of mission bay, and around La Jolla
Would a Shimano Curado K size 200 hold up?
Noah V I personally wouldn’t use a 200 size. The sea lions are getting pretty ruthless around all the islands in SoCal and with a 200, if a sea lion grabbed your fish you would most likely get spooled
Dirty Hookers could a size 200 fish this size yellowtail without these sealions?
Noah V might be cutting it close, but with heavy drag and 30-40# test you should be ok.
Anything bigger then 12-15 lbs I’d start to get worried with a 200 size reel
Dirty Hookers Sorry for bugging you with all these questions but I have one more, would a Daiwa Lexa size 300 be fine?
Noah V lexa 300 rigged with 40-50 lb braid is fine. I use my 300 pretty often for these smaller grade fish. I still fish heavy drag with 40 lb topshot.
Why did you take the other video down?
Getting Bent With Bo there was a clip in the video that just wasn’t appropriate
really? which one? I watched the whole video previously.
Getting Bent With Bo the sea lion
Dirty Hookers where it got hooked with the surface iron?
@@Dirty.Hookers whyd u take it out fuck seals
Mag? U ever fish strait spectra to a short leader on the jig stick? What's ur take on it
Turning the handle 247 Robert fernandez yeah the 100 jmag. I haven’t personally don’t it with this set up. That’s how I fish my lexas. That’s not remotely close to casting a trini though haha . I was thinking about giving a try on my Trinidad. But I’d like to get better at casting first. The last thing I want is backlashes with braid
JUST CAME BACK FROM A TRIP ON THE MISSION BELL 8/22/19 CATCHING YELLOWFIN'S,,,, IF YOU WERE NOT USING 20 POUND MONO AND #2 HOOKS YOU WEREN'T CATCHING ANY FISH !!!!,,,, DO NOT USE BRAIDED LINE, THE MATES WILL HATE YOU AND YOU WON'T CATCH ANYTHING !!!!
