Fire video as always Ray! Thank you for the content and info! Just got back from the Legend yesterday and it was the best trip ever in my life. Huge tuna were landed and 100 lbers were jumping straight out of the water! I got my first bluefin ever and it was a cow! Landed it on a single speed too 😂! My dad's old school so he had us set up with big single speed reels, but after this trip I think he's converting to the newer stuff. His friend came over from Washington and landed his first bft, also a cow, on a 4/0. Both that reel and the one I was using had the anti-reverses grind out! It was during the night on the jigs and I had already lost a fish, breaking my 100 lb leader. My brother also got broken off 3 times! Luckily he was able to land a 30 lber during the day and got a shot at the kite fish as well. My dad got bit and handed it off to me, since he was tired from helping his friend reel in that one. According to the deckhand and my dad, the bft I had on even jumped out of the water, but I didn't see it since I was focused on reeling in. Ended up with the biggest on the boat at 215 lbs, and the crew said they lose 10 to 15% of their weight so they said it was even bigger! So stoked on the opportunity and trip of a lifetime. Hearts were eaten and memories were made.
That is so fricken awesome bro! Beyond stoked for you! I barely got to see fish over 100lbs for my first time 2 weeks ago and I was absolutely losing my shit lol. I hooked a big one on that trip, but lost it unfortunately. Fingers crossed I get my shot before the season is over. Glad you got to experience an epic trip and a trip of a life time at that! I still haven’t seen 100lb jumping. Still waiting for the day i get to witness the full experience! Congrats brotha! Really really happy for you and the family!
