for future prep of flares and plastic bumpers, check with you local auto body supply. We use a red scotch brite pad. they also make a grey pad that can be used. Red is about the same as 180/220 sand paper and grey is approx. the same as 400 sand paper. The scotch-brite pads work better and allow for detail prep. Hope this helps.
Looks great! I dig it! I'm kinda curious if you went back and painted the inside of the gas cap... You could see the blue from the outside in the shot you showed. :P
.....I used a whole kit on my front bumper alone.... This is such an insanely thin coverage if it ever actually see brush or off-road environment, that stuff will scratch right off... The problem with the texture build up is cause you are holding the gun 6"-12" from the surface and blowing it flat. You hold 2'-3' away and do sweeping coverage, like one liter over a whole side, and then flash off while you do the hood/hatch or other side or roof, then come back to it again you build texture very quickly... Nice grainy texture... Blowing it flat first like you did is nice though for a base coat and absolute coverage with no visible blue between texture granules. Still looks great but I did 3 tintable kits to my 4Runner and an entire black kit to build thick protection to my front bumper... Handles branches and rocks like a champ.
I maintain bed liner is good for a lot of things making faded plastic look better ripping out old gross carpet and bed lining the floor board. But have got to paint the metal on your car or truck. A good paint job will last longer because I’ve seen a lot of faded bed lined vehicles.
painted my Jeep TJ 2 summers back in a friends garage. It was quite the learning process but it turned out really solid. I will be raptor lining it this summer to make it look a lot better, and this vid has reminded me of how much fun it was, regardless of how detail intensive it is
You could use a white board. Like 1 for every project. That's great lighting in your garage no dark shadows pretty good detail. I really like how you juggle all of these projects and come back to it later like the FJ and leave a whole array of stories to go back to especially if your new to this channel. Great job! Worked out just Puuuur-fect!
I was a doubter. I've seen a truck done with bedliner before and it looked like total crap with uneven coverage and stripes and stuff but I'll admit it, I was wrong, your's looks really great. Makes me think if Toyota would have made them with some cool paint jobs instead of all the weird or bright colors they might still be making them today.
I spray raptor liner a lot and love it.. I usually do one heavy coat then back up a few more inches and do another medium coat.. They key to durability with bedliner is the mil thickness.. Just a lil food for thought..other than that good work man
You made it look much easier and quicker than when i did it. Took two days of prep work, few hours of masking and about 2 hours of spray. But damn did my suburban come out good. We even got similar fender flares.
KillinInSecret I agree he was supposed to do it over the summer now it's almost winter I don't think he's gonna get to it anytime soon its a sweet car though
@@Kiss__Kiss Greetings brother, I just subscribed to your channel. I want to be like you someday. I have some questions? I want to paint my Dodge Ram this way completely Black. How many of the paint you used should I use to paint mine. and the second question is to know if after painting it like this it doesn't get opaque with the dirty, and the cleaning as it would be. does it later become dull and dull over time?
Was not expecting the FJ to look this good. Well done Chris. I like your scheduling too, dont wory about the haters in the comments. Dont mind you mixing it up.
Listen to been there done that for years sand, rust converter, etching metal primer, bondo, sand, high rise primer, sand, glazing compound, sand, primer, urethane base coat, urethane clear coat. Bingo beautiful. ;)
pre paint the cracks and hard to reach areas then let it dry then put it on dry!!! for more texture air pressure is speed times distance so its all a combo of the three don't buy cheap tape and don't mask with plastic dry paint will come flying off it and get on the finish any one can do this its like spraying drywall texture ..in fact we used a hopper when it first came out extra heavy duty..hope this helps.. and the bondo needs the metal to stick it wont feather over some types of paints i would drill holes for it to grab on and one application not layered filler unless its a lighter weight . and 50 other things ,but you figure that ..out THANKS FOR THE VID ...88 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 Auto 3.5 on 33's
I used the same Raptor Liner kit and had great results. It was an easy process. My only wish would be that Raptor Liner separated the hardener into individual 250mL bottles to avoid measuring and make the process more seamless.
Nice work - I customised my X5 and finished it with raptor (youtube X5 offroad beast - it's a little slide show), gets more attention at car shows than anything else there - will be doing more projects in the future.
Closer will tighten texture lower air preasure Move fast strokes not to run. Higher pressure further away will give you gravel super grainy I have always wanted to do this but never had the balls like to see somebody else do it learn from their mistakes not that there’s any I am Auto Painter 30+ years Love this stuff can be rolled on as well I did the bottom 3/4 of an aluminum bass boat worked great talk about sound deadener.
Anybody saying you don't put Bondo over bare metal just fundamentally misunderstands that there is body filler and glazing putty and that they're too different things. Just an FYI from somebody that used to do auto body. Bondo always goes over bare metal ground I was taught 80 grit for lower preferably ground. Glazing putty can go over paint and some bare metal that you're supposed to prime bare metal if I remember correctly. And glazing putty really only needs 80 grit 120 somewhere in there
Also spray the inside of the gas cap, and the door sils and stuff, maybe inside the rockguards, you have so much leftover and I think it would finish up the car completely, looks insanely cool Chris! Don't understand I have never seen this before on any other car, its mental :D
Also if you spray the rockguards and the underside of the car a bit, it would help immensely versus corrosion and mud getting up into it and rusting it after you have gone off roading :)
Air pressure changes the droplet size with raptor, higher pressure finer pattern. Nice, only thing I would have done differently is spray it before the fender flares then coat them when you put them on. And maybe under the guards!
Sure, "Qimenshi Dujunfa" car body armor explosion-proof paint is a product made in China. It doesn't require specialized equipment and can be operated by oneself. The color can be arbitrarily tuned, and the particle size can be adjusted. It is resistant to yellowing, impact-resistant, and corrosion-resistant. The product name is "Qimenshi Dujunfa".
Do the body armor, just do 1/2 inch steel plate on-top of horsestall mat and then cut it all to size, will stop up to 50ae, but a 12 gage slug would go through however be stopped by the horsestall mat. It may take more, I've only seen this body armor done with 1/4 inch steel not 1.5 inch steel.
That actually looks good on that FJ. That wouldn't work with most other cars. One awesome thing is that you'll never have to worry about scratching your paint again.
I remember back in the day you wanted to be more about challenges. Kinda like top gear. I think that was a rad concept. Saying that I think the mustang is boring but if you were to try and make it run like 10s or something in the 1/4 mile it would be pretty dope. Keep up the good work dude
Now you gotta put bed liner on that interior trim piece
for future prep of flares and plastic bumpers, check with you local auto body supply. We use a red scotch brite pad. they also make a grey pad that can be used. Garth S i noticed that as well would be a bummer if he left it as now the trucks all black thats gonna stick out like a sore thumb 😭
MegaNayton I think the expression is sore thumb..
Came here to say this
Karen Kazaryan damn auto correct and my bad i didn't proof read
I noticed it as well right away. . . at least it is an easy fix.
.....I used a whole kit on my front bumper alone.... This is such an insanely thin coverage if it ever actually see brush or off-road environment, that stuff will scratch right off...

It looks like you missed the inside of the fuelcap (@13:31 for example)
I maintain bed liner is good for a lot of things making faded plastic look better ripping out old gross carpet and bed lining the floor board. But have got to paint the metal on your car or truck. A good paint job will last longer because I’ve seen a lot of faded bed lined vehicles.
Hurray! Loving the episode Chris!
Raptor lining my old Jeep was such a satisfying experience. Replacing lights and mirrors in conjunction made it look like a brand new vehicle.
People saying it looked better before... Hell no this shit looks beast
Jonathan Cortes i was skeptical but the finished product looks great
Same here but it turned out great looks like it's ready to be thrown in mud lol
No, no it definitely does not lmao
Ive had 3 bottles of Raptor liner for several years now..lol Was going to do my entire bottom half of my Blazer with it.. Changed my mind.
Painting squad
Gingium Pantium does a commentium on B is for Buildium

Hey paintium
AHHHHH, you ginger
This a reupload

Always primer your filler work and then paint it
Just finished painting my Wrangler with blue raptor liner. Your video helped a lot with it!
Hella cool of you to give the brz to that kid.... right thing to do fore sure...#karmagoals
Sell*
My buddy painted his Civic with Raptor black and it looks great. He's painted a few cars and trucks with Raptor and they always look good.
Paint back over the liner with blue! I did it on my jeep and it looks awesome!
You could use a white board. Like 1 for every project. That's great lighting in your garage no dark shadows pretty good detail. fillg mines is yellow with white top a lil bright but looks beast.
but i get what you mean
It wouldn't help much. Every two door SUV has failed. The two door jeep barely sells compared to 4-door, and will most likely be gone soon.
Heywood Jablowme you came to a 2 year old comment to call someone an idiot. And it is kind of a 2 door. Adults don’t fit back there too well
I spray raptor liner a lot and love it.. I usually do one heavy coat then back up a few more inches and do another medium coat.. They key to durability with bedliner is the mil thickness.. Just a lil food for thought..other than that good work man
this fj is sick asf
Top notch!!! I am painting my Japanese mini truck with this method. Thanks for sharing
I have 4 pieces of homework to do, 1 project, 2 assignments and I need to go over my notes but that can wait since B is for Build uploaded.
I didn't expect the FJ to look that badass with that paint! I'm excited to see the final build!
Wow that looks good
You made it look much easier and quicker than when i did it. Took two days of prep work, few hours of masking and about 2 hours of spray. But damn did my suburban come out good. We even got similar fender flares.
I’ve been thinking about doing this to my car. Just for the hell of it
Drew w why not
Drew w dont say not to and then not say why
I have been wanting an FJ for many years now. This looks Awesome!
All I want to know is when the Camaro is going to get some love.
KillinInSecret I agree he was supposed to do it over the summer now it's almost winter I don't think he's gonna get to it anytime soon its a sweet car though
fuck that hes got an aston martin that requires more attention.
KillingInSecret All I have to say is, I appreciate you spelling Camaro the correct way. Too many years, I've seen people spell it as, "Camero."
Kiss Kiss Well camero is better than my mom calling it a camry

Am I the first to say B is Bedliner?
B is is FOR Bedliner :-D
the B is for Bedliner? no okay :P
Nathan chalecki is is
I really like the way this FJ looks. That's how I would want it to look!
I've been subscribed from the very first video of the first blue BRZ. UA-cam keeps unsubing me!!! WTF UA-cam??!!
Yes, multiple UA-camrs have made videos about UA-cam doing this. Among other shady things as well.
Mythbusters did a show about tub liner and found that the one they used was bulletproof and survived some explosives lol
The true test of this paint will be when a student backs into your car again :D
Thanks, brother. I've got a 69 Nissan Patrol and my 94 LC FJ80 I've been working up the nerve to do this to. Appreciate your video.
For such an easy mod. Such an awesome result.
Bro, I love your builds. all my cars are crappy, and i need motivation. and then there's B for Build. So that way i get motivated.
This is the first video of yours I watched, you build cool things, you have skills, subscribed, I hope to learn from your other videos. Thank you.
Nice job. I did my 97 GMC Sonoma High Rider in gray and black bed liner. I love it.
B is for every car is flat black
I have to say, for some reason one of my favorites segments are the bodywork/ paint. Keep it up bro!
Did you ever spray the inside of the gas cap? I could see blue on the inside from the outside still, then ya just left me hanging
Isaac R nice doggo bro
I have the same blue FJ and this is my dream version of my car! Awesome.
am i the only one that is botherd by the gas lid
ninja dragon I second this
Holy shit no, I was like "Surely he'll...AHFUCKCHRISWHATAREYOUDOING"
And the Tire Carrier.
and the passenger side door handle
And the edge on the roof in the beginning...
Very nice look. I did the same on an old ambulance in FDE. I live in a dusty desert area. A year and a half without a bath and you couldn't tell.
So did Chris ever find the thieves that stole his wheels?
Bad Drivers of North Texas idk
Dat lambo nobody was asking you
I thought he said cops found them
alex2974 savage!
i'm sure by now you run into many folks asking about your paint job and that its freaken AWESOME !!!!
B is for blacked out everything
Brian Laplante
Except for spots that take actual effort like door jambs and under/between certain panels
Listen to been there done that for years sand, rust converter, etching metal primer, bondo, sand, high rise primer, sand, glazing compound, sand, primer, urethane base coat, urethane clear coat. Bingo beautiful. ;)
Did you fix around the fuel filler neck?
Awesome look for the FJ. I look forward to your future videos!
wow just wow love the raptor bed liner
Awesome! Anyway you can give us/me a list of products you used on the fj?
Favorite B is for Build video to date.. it looks fantastic and this is now a must do for me
Could you put links to that spray gun/oil filter/air pressure gauge setup??
B is for buy a new stool
The FJ is looking better and better!
Nice paint job, looks tough. Did you fix the gas/cap cover area?
pre paint the cracks and hard to reach areas then let it dry then put it on dry!!! for more texture air pressure is speed times distance so its all a combo of the three don't buy cheap tape and don't mask with plastic dry paint will come flying off it and get on the finish any one can do this its like spraying drywall texture ..in fact we used a hopper when it first came out extra heavy duty..hope this helps.. and the bondo needs the metal to stick it wont feather over some types of paints i would drill holes for it to grab on and one application not layered filler unless its a lighter weight . and 50 other things ,but you figure that ..out THANKS FOR THE VID ...88 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 Auto 3.5 on 33's
Today is my birthday, I was born at 6:37 pm so that means at my actual time of birth I will be watching B is for build
Happy birthday, this is a great place to spend it. Now that's done, go get laid. 🍺
+Robert Gurski happy bday!
It's Nice to see another fj with a bedliner as a paint! All I'm going to say is that if someone keys your truck it won't even matter haha!
How much rapor did u use on the car?
@15:10 he shows how many bottles he used papi..... 5 - bottles total papi.....
That looks so much better than I anticipated it would. Very impressed.
you should lowkey spray the Aston like this! it would kinda be dope, and you definitely have enough left to do it lol
I used the same Raptor Liner kit and had great results. It was an easy process. My only wish would be that Raptor Liner separated the hardener into individual 250mL bottles to avoid measuring and make the process more seamless.
Raptor liner 😝 that's what I meant to Google, put in rhino. Thanks.
Tinting the Taillights and the front indicators will give a more aggressive look. And follow the black on back theme better
Not being a hater... you should have put multiple coats of the liner on.
Nice work - I customised my X5 and finished it with raptor (youtube X5 offroad beast - it's a little slide show), gets more attention at car shows than anything else there - will be doing more projects in the future.
Tint the tail lights and turn signals
Andrew Robins and he should paint the blue interior pieces
So they work less
Just RaptorLine them too!
Idk but in some state it is illegal.
Tinted lights are ricer. And stupid
Now we got all trucks bed liner yeahhhhhh!!!!
Honestly wpuld love to see more of the aston martin tbh haha.

It looks excellent
It looks aggressive and awsome!
Use one of the leftover bottles to spray the inside of the door frames, hood, gas cap flap, wheel wells, etc, etc
Air pressure changes the droplet size with raptor, higher pressure finer pattern. Nice, only thing I would have done differently is spray it before the fender flares then coat them when you put them on. And maybe under the guards!
Stephen Bunnik, air pressure AND distance. He's holding it so close, doesn't matter what pressure, it's all gonna get blown flat.
Your FJ looks AWESOME! Can't wait for the next episode.
Rig looks nice. Try Monstaliner next time. Its roll on. UV protective. Lots of colors. And very durable for off road rigs.
Mav Meyers this is a 2k paint... UV protected... it's on par with monstaliner.
That thing is going to be hot as hell in summer
I'm gonna do my 2dr. Gmc yukon like that. Looks nice!
No you're not.
that looks 2 million times better then i thought it would good job i might just do that to my truck

It's a pleasure detailing this car :))
That came out great. It looks good enough, that I want to do it to my car...but it's brand new, so I'll wait a few years.
I do have to say you a very frigin clever at what you do. You inspire me and I'm sure you inspire many others
Doing the bottom half of my zj with this product. Thanks for the demo
That actually looks good on that FJ. That wouldn't work with most other cars. One awesome thing is that you'll never have to worry about scratching your paint again.
You should paint some of the interior trim peices with the raptorliner to match
I was a bit hesitant when I first learnt about the tray liner spray job, but I gotta admit, it looks mega!
B is for Build Brother, Awesome video! Tell everyone you got the inside of fuel door Bro!
wow ... bro, Great work. thank you. about to do myTahoe...
much appreciated the info.
Thank you
Sammy
turned out great.
Very nice! Think I'm going to do our LJ Rubicon with Monstaliner
I remember back in the day you wanted to be more about challenges. Kinda like top gear. I think that was a rad concept. Saying that I think the mustang is boring but if you were to try and make it run like 10s or something in the 1/4 mile it would be pretty dope. Keep up the good work dude
Looks Fukn badass.....where you at???? I have a 95 Wrangler that I'm gonna put on similar plastic fenders!
Love the look of the FJ
