Looking super cool man! Quick thought, The holes in the roof rack (and possibly roof itself) running the wires for the bars may not feel rough, but overtime will wear into the wires and short them. I would drill a larger hole and run a rubber grommet around the wire for a water tight seal and a super clean look!
Those wires on the light bar are actually mostly rubber insulation. It's basically its own rubber grommet. I agree, looks bad on video but in person handling with the wires they are individually insulated like a normal wire and then wrapped in a very big, thick rubber insulation.
Brad Bonham You have to go through the trouble of taking the wire loose at one end and feeding it all the way back out the hole to replace the grommet, how does that logic work?
Well, if you don't want to splice new wires onto old wires keeping everything water tight over and over again, I don't think you want to pull the wire from the bar itself if it gets damaged either. It really comes down to if you want to replace just a grommet or an entire light bar. But either way, if something gets damaged, you're either fishing the wire back through, or cutting it, and Id rather keep original wires in one piece if possible.
Brad Bonham You do realize you can pull the wire back a little bit and add some electrical tape if you notice it's wearing thin. Not worth the argument tho, it's a wire to a car neither of us own for crying out loud.
300Six not really. Just use the paper he used on the windows to mask off the interior to paint the door seals, and he already took the trim around the radio off
Meh. It's a budget build. Wrap the blue trim and door seal areas in black vinyl instead. Skip the hassle of pulling panels and taping. Heck, pick up a run lol of "carbon fiber" vinyl if you want to get fancy.
That looks so freaking good. The moment the taillights went in and the red contrasted from the black and the windows were showing through a darker, shinier black. Oh my...
in australia having a led light bar pointing behind you would get your car stickered unroadworthy in 5 minutes flat ...and thnats metric minutes too . love your work!
Chris, great content man! There are ways to run your secondary battery so that all your accessories run off of it, but it can be charged by your alternator at the same time as your primary, and without overloading either. That way you don’t have to worry about trickle charging the secondary after you use the lights.
There are actually light bar mounts that mount to the front mounts of the roof rack that you can find online for fairly cheap. Makes it 10x easier to mount. That's what I used for mine
I'm a K5 Blazer guy. So Blazers, Boxers (dog), Beer, Boobies, Booze, etc for me lol. I had kind of written these new FJs off. But this one is killer. I think the paint schemes and base models turned me off to them originally. Keep up the good work and I'll be following this wicked (B)uild!
wonderful. its very nice for my project for my nissan long terrano 2 with paint and light. hello from south of FRANCE. see you later and thank you for this video bro. bye. Ludovic
Hey, very nice FJ you got there. I had 2007 FJ for 6 years and it also was painted with raptor but mine was yellow (awesome). Anyways, FJ is a very simple and awesome construction. What's you should look out for is to be careful with wire harness. IT is very delicate and computer is very prone to engine check errors. When it goes, everything goes so at least it seems. When check engine light goes on most likely traction and stability lights will also go on. Normal. When you ,for example, take out you right seat all the light will go on. AIrbags, check engine, traction, etc. There is home made wire harness and a switch produced to fake signal from right seat. Get yourself onboard diagnostic monitor on OBDII. It will make your life easier. Also, when your cat's gone and it will be, sooner or later, you'll also get lots or check engine lights. You may also check engine bay side walls checked. Factory lower frame mounts are in a wrong place, causing side panels to bend over time. I also played with my radio and some time after airbags start to flash, LOL.
I like this guy's build because he shows us how to save money unlike a lot of other sponsored off-road UA-camrs out there who provide links to products that'll easily cost us thousands of dollars...
It’s time to spend some time on the interior and stuffs including the cleaning of the engine man and also painting the blue parts man. More power to you man
It’s smart that you ended up not raptor lining the sliders.being a high wear tear piece your gonna want to repaint them and it’d be pain to have to raptor liner them again. Looks clean man good see you starting to like 4x4 yotas
Really cool build. Been waiting for this one and you didn't disappoint. Could you please wash the engine bay? Look up ridecontroller to control your lights and other accessories with a Bluetooth connected app.
I see why it's cool to have remote on the lights, but I think simple switch inside the car is better option. One for the front and one for the rear. It is a system that basically cannot fail. Remote is always remote and it can fail. If you somehow could do both then it would be great, but thats not really possible. Those lightbars seem to be very bright, it's not very nice to get blinded by it when someone drives towards you. Maybe I'm just overthinking this, but I think switch is better.
I agree, but for a different reason... Remotes always end up getting lost or destroyed in vehicles- especially one that's gonna get beat on like I'm supposing this one will... A rugged switch can't fall between the seat, and get crushed when you slide or lean the seat forward (can you tell I'm speaking from personal experience? Lol)
I would love to see a Chevy Tahoe build! I've never seen a off road Tahoe on youtube! If it has never be done on the tube maybe you could be the first... I'm a few days new to the channel the FJ brought me here.
Hey Chris, As an fellow FJ owner, I want to let you to keep an eye on your headliner. If you didn't plug the hole you drilled into the water on the roof is going to leak into the inside of your FJ. It's a know issue when people remove and reattach their factory roof racks. A common solution that's done, is people use caulk to cover the hole and prevent water from leaking though. Can't wait to see more of the FJ project!
Think about it with the doors open, that is a logical place where you would put your left foot to climb in. If it were further back you would need to use the right foot at which point it would be harder to get in that without it.
I figured it was so he could also use it to reach across the front in case he needs to clear the windshield of mud or something the wipers can't handle in the wilderness :o
Awesome. So when you're driving down the road at night and someone is behind you with their high-beams on, you can just wreck them with the rear light bar!
Hey man, loving the build. You didn't mention it so I thought I would. Don't forget to fuse those power wires for your lights. It would be a shame to have a car fire if you get a short. :)
The truck looks super nice but I worry about it fading in 5 years. I think raptorliner can be painted over but I’d hate to have to remove it. That’s the main thing keeping me on the fence with a bedliner paint job.
We all have suggestions it seems. Now that I look at it, I think it'd look better with the fender flares in the satin paint for some contrast. I also kind of miss the white roof. It's a LOT of black. With that said, the tail lights stand out a lot, maybe tinting them is in order? Oh, yeah. Cover the rest of the blue! 😊
Would you consider making up some diffusers for those light bars? I know for a fact they are harsh as hell if youre using it for camping or anything casual. It will make it much easier to live with.
make sure you use some sort of security screw/bolt on those light bars. They get stolen pretty regularly and are trivial to remove with normal hardware.
Shelby S I feel if he painted the door frames the same black as the other parts and painted the interiors with the bed liner it would really add to the look
It has been said, but it's worth repeating: paint / Plasti-Dip the door jams, behind the grille; use a proper fuse for the Light-Bars; drill a bigger hole for the wires and protect them with a rubber seal; ideally make the rack detachable in case it has to come off; use carbon fibre wrap on those interior panels, that are blue; mount the spare tire; clean the lower driver side; tint the windows & taillights; use a proper touchscreen Radio. Didn't like the bedliner paint, nur with a few more things it can definitely work out. You are doing awesome stuff on your builds and I think with a little bit more attention to detail they could all be flawless. Killed it with the Lotus though :) Keep it Up!
Honestly, I'm liking this FJ build more than I ever thought I would
My boss has an FJ and this is our thing that we talk about during lunch when he walks into the lunch room haha.
ReesePuffSwag same here ☺👍

Ive installed a few in my time, and one things for sure; it's a whole lot easier to replace a worn out grommet than a worn out cable :)
You should paint the blue interior trim and door seals. It looks so weird with it blue now
yeah I'm surprised he didn't do that, looks unfinished now
he would have to pretty much rip the whole interior out to paint the door seals, or spends hours masking every little bit off,
300Six not really.
This is my favorite build so far. I love the bed liner idea. It looks so much cleaner. Now the light bars are really upping the coolness.
I am watching trough this guys old videos and the amount of builds he has done is insane.
since you've got a shit load of cars, you should do a car for Chelsea, make it the way she wants it. I reckon that would be a cool idea!!
Bed line the blue stereo facia
That looks so freaking good. The moment the taillights went in and the red contrasted from the black and the windows were showing through a darker, shinier black. Oh my...
Do a quick disconnect plug under your roof rack. just in case you need to pull it off and your light bar is attached
Happy to see you painted behind the fuel cap!
I think your FJ looks amazing. I also want to say you have helped give me more motivation to do more work myself on my Jeep WJ.
in australia having a led light bar pointing behind you would get your car stickered unroadworthy in 5 minutes flat ...and thnats metric minutes too . love your work!
I'm so jealous of your confidence in your ability to do things on cars without instructions.
Tinting the for indicators and tail lights would suit the look so much
Glad to see that you did catch the need to retouch the paint job. My OCD was cussing like a sailor lolol.
Bro u should also consider cleaning that bay.
Android Y Curiosidades Chris Fix to the rescue?! LoL
American Patriot fuck yeah 😂😂😂 common tools including a brush made out of unicorns hair
This is badass, paint the door frames from blue to saftey orange 😎
Is there anything this guy can’t do?... geez. Awesome!!
Chris, great content man! FJ Feels like one of your best builds
Chris is one hardworking and dedicated youtuber!
There are actually light bar mounts that mount to the front mounts of the roof rack that you can find online for fairly cheap. Makes it 10x easier to mount. That's what I used for mine
B is for BADASS! The FJ is looking sweet!
Looking forward to the next episode, thinking about putting in a 2 battery system.
This look sick. Would be so great for back logging roads in BC
That camera on the escalator shot was sick
Great job Bud I never thought I'd see an fj look so cool
Chris Fix also has a video about how to clean an engine bay ;)
Man... That FJis looking so sweet. Love the channel
“Doing homework”

The bed liner paint actually works really good on it
Hands down the best looking FJ I’ve ever seen. I’m usually not a fan of FJs bc I’m a jeep guy but I would drive this sucker.
I loved the Evora but I think this is one of your best builds EVER. Looks badass!!

Watching from the 'Couve! Mighty Northwest!
Use that bed liner on the rack cross-members!
Nice vid!
This is so sick. Need to start doing more to my fj!
Just watched the last part....glad to see this part up so quickly... shit looks awesome
absolutely love this build. Planning to start one of my own pretty soon
Portland! Hope to see you drive by I’m trying to do the same style
Dude you should use Niteshade to black out the front amber lights and the rear tail lights. It’ll look so much more badass. Keep it up bro👍🏼
Clean that engine bay! 😜
Chris Fix has a great vid on that.
Really cool build. Been waiting for this one and you didn't disappoint. Could you please wash the engine bay? Look up ridecontroller to control your lights and other accessories with a Bluetooth connected app.
Watching your video makes me miss my fj
B is for bright. B is bi-battery. All jokes aside that came together as your best looking project yet. I wanna rhino line my car now.
Lightbars are not for road use. Just off roading
DG also the FJ has numerous spots too add extra switches that will look factory.
Lol)
It's easily possible DG, not an issue to do at all
Awesome content Chris!!! Keep it going
Dude, you do incredible work. I'm relatively new to the channel, but I love your work! Subbed!
I would love to see a Chevy Tahoe build! I've never seen a off road Tahoe on youtube! If it has never be done on the tube maybe you could be the first...
I'm a few days new to the channel the FJ brought me here.
I'm loving this build a lot
Now this is the build show i missed!
With the first black light it looks 🤯
Hey Chris,
As an fellow FJ owner, I want to let you to keep an eye on your headliner.
Painting the radio faceplate with bedliner would look sick.
You and chrisfix are my favorite car youtubers on youtube
Crazy how fast tracked this project was.
Curiosity, but why did you put the step so far forward? It looks like you're climbing onto the windshield more than inside.
Think about it with the doors open, that is a logical place where you would put your left foot to climb in. If it were further back you would need to use the right foot at which point it would be harder to get in that without it.
I suppose. It just appeared to be about 4" too far forward for my liking.
To each their own!
D'Montae McWillie I agree. Seems like it should be back like 3-4"... To each their own tho
I figured it was so he could also use it to reach across the front in case he needs to clear the windshield of mud or something the wipers can't handle in the wilderness :o
D'Montae McWillie haha glad I’m not the only one. “Literally thought omg what is he doing?”
Love the look of it at PDX!!!
You should paint the wheels glossy black, it would make a nice contrast.
With that radio, run a higher gauge wire directly from the battery to the accessory wire (not the constant 12V) going to the radio.
Chris, this paint is wicked :D A lot better than the original concept
Awesome. So when you're driving down the road at night and someone is behind you with their high-beams on, you can just wreck them with the rear light bar!
Loving the FJ project.
paint door frames under the hood n rino flex the interior plastic would look sk good !
Wow looking amazing
@bisforbuild every car has oil drain plug gasket and it is always included in oil filter kit which you should bought for oil change ;)
You should put the bed liner spray on the cross bars from the roof rack.
Use black silicon around where the wires go into the roof rack just to ensure no water gets in
Hey man, loving the build.
Best part about the rear bar is you can turn it on when someone is high beaming you :)
Looks awesome!
clean that engine bay ! awesome video crissssss
dude you make this rebuild shit look easy , i dont even know where to start.
LOVING THIS BUILD
You should do DIY color changing light bars!! Please!!🙏🏻
should've used the raptor liner for the roof rack also. FJ looks awesome tho.
Hey chris- steel wool and water will get those numbers off your window no problem :)
Great classic b is for build style video!
Would you consider making up some diffusers for those light bars?
I know for a fact they are harsh as hell if youre using it for camping or anything casual.
It will make it much easier to live with.
I vote in favor of keeping the door sills and under the hood blue. Uts a nice contrast.
make sure you use some sort of security screw/bolt on those light bars. They get stolen pretty regularly and are trivial to remove with normal hardware.
Will you paint the door frames? (the inside portion)
and under the hood... at least a quick fog job
And the interior plastics
I kinda like it like that
4:53 And wash the motor?
Shelby S I feel if he painted the door frames the same black as the other parts and painted the interiors with the bed liner it would really add to the look
EZ headlight restore can be done with plexiglass cleaner/conditioner. I use it for my motorcycle windshield too.
Sick looking corrosion on your battery terminals, man.
you should paint the blue panel in the console bedliner as well!
Brother b pillar is blue and u can still see it through the window. Otherwise......... DOPE!!
This is much better than the BRZ episodes.
B IS FOR THE BEST ON UA-cam
u rite
It has been said, but it's worth repeating: paint / Plasti-Dip the door jams, behind the grille; use a proper fuse for the Light-Bars; drill a bigger hole for the wires and protect them with a rubber seal; ideally make the rack detachable in case it has to come off; use carbon fibre wrap on those interior panels, that are blue; mount the spare tire; clean the lower driver side; tint the windows & taillights; use a proper touchscreen Radio.

Keep it Up!
You should wire the second battery to the alternator so it would help in the long run.
Girls always so expressive.....so excited....
Go ADVENTURES with this Cruiser ! 🏞
I strongly recommend replacing the fairlead on the winch. The bedliner will destroy the synthetic winch rope.
