True story: I was in a Sears store 40 years ago, in the tool department. A lady came in looking for a “metric adjustable wrench”. Obviously, Hubby was pranking her. She asked the older salesman, and he hemmed and hawed, not wanting to laugh. He calmly explained they only come in SAE, with a snarky tone and pointed to the bin they were in. I couldn’t resist. I told him turn it over. At the time, Craftsman put the size in SAE on one side and Metric size on the other side. The look on his face was priceless, and the lady said she couldn’t wait to show her husband , so he could see his prank failed!
Ain't gotta lie to kick it.
Old salesman: Sure, they're over there, next to the blinker fluid.
I have an adjustable by Heinkel Tools. It's labeled as a 0- 25 mm .
It is definitely my metric Crescent Wrench.
I also have one by Crescent for people that want me to call it an adjustable wrench. That one is deff. a Crescent.
Have fun all.
"Crescent" wrench. Invented by Bahco 1891. "Bahco nøgle"
I still have one of those.
Tom's attempt at organizing did not go unnoticed, nor unappreciated, at least by me.
Not sure if it gets mentioned often but the editor's touch with the weather reports makes me smile every single time 'beautiful day F' 'should be a good day C' its the small things
Says a lot about Matt that the chemistry with just about anyone you throw on screen with him is great. Everyone even the people that have left have been great. Tom is just awesome 😎 too. Jaymie just made me like her even more when she said the temperature is "visibly different" and when she realizes that's not a thing she just giggled at herself and rolled with it. Too cute 🥰 let's not take ourselves too seriously have fun 🤘
Matt and Jamie you're such sweet couple. Matt is charming and always have smile especially when Jamie is with him. Not worried about getting dirty. Generous, not abnoxious to his crew. Matt please wear a sunscreen 😅. Careful, good luck.
Jaymie - this comment is for you - please read. You have to ask Matt to stop welding without gloves. The welding arc gives off hard damaging UV radiation that causes melanomas otherwise known as skin cancer which can be very aggressive and difficult to treat. In Australia we take skin cancer very seriously as it is one of the leading causes of death over here.
If you can't get him to stop, at the very least ask him to attend a skin specialist often for checking moles and get any melanomas removed before they can kill him.
For everyone else - I know - nanny state etc he should be able to do what he wants yada yada yada. Thats what most people say here before they get skin cancer. Its a very different tune after they get it.
I'm in Thestralia as well, I'm getting one cut out in a fortnight.
back in the 1970s and 1980s during the boom of electronics (DIY especially) we had an epidemic of engineers ending up with metal poisoning (Lead) because of inhaling the fumes from the solder. people went through physical hellscape of health issues before lead solder was effectively banned for many use cases.
today you see people complaining that the lead-free solder doesn't work as well. people will complain about anything. i wish they would stop eating lead paint.
This is actually true. I made the mistake and received a very Odd what I could only describe as a sunburn from my flux core Wire feed welder. It was like an odd sunburn but different? 😮
And Matt being in a state that already has high UV exposure and his fair skin he could be a great risk. So good call. 👍
For sure, I burned my left hand without realizing it till later just wire welding. It was like a bad sunburn but, enough to make me start wearing gloves.
What wheels are on tom’s dig/dug? I strongly agree with Steven Gloor about the skin cancer. Also, more frequent use of safety glasses.
Matt, you probably have it in mind that an insulated covered headliner would make it a little cooler and quieter. The wrecker is awesome.
I think it is so interesting how Matt went from needing no winches unless he needed one in the hitch to having winches everywhere. Such a big change from what it once was.
That was my biggest beef with them years ago haha. He came around eventually
@@georgejulien3286 He explained in one episode that synthetic winch lines were what brought him around. All his old experience and dislike of winches had been steel cable winch lines and the snags, cuts, snaps, and other awful things they always brought with. Once he discovered synthetic, he was sold again.
@@offshack I saw that video… but he still needed winches before synthetic was a thing. He just refused to do anything except pull people barely stuck in the sand who had no friends to help haha
We get older, we learn, we grow...props to Matt...
He’s got all of those winches because Rory has them! Ever notice what one does for content the others copy. Paul and Robby both did front bumpers.
I appreciate how generous Matt is with letting others drive his trucks.
That's how Matt trains his people they all need to be able to drive all of the rescue trucks.
Including his regular customers.
No, it's just that he isn't arrogant and greedy like most Americans
Well chick's dig big tires 😂
It comes with the hook that then you know how to operate them and may be called in as emergency crew when you least expect it 😉
Matt: are you in the right gear?
Rhett: checks his shirt, yup in the correct uniform
wasnt that one of the funniest momments EVER !!?????😅😂
Rhett is soo cool and doesnt even know it !!!!!!!!!😮😊
That was very funny
The term "gear" has a different meaning depending on your generation
He definitely has the Michael Cera humor, just neat and effortless. So funny 👍
He was probably thinking he had on one of Rudy’s shirts
It’s nice to see Holly out and about. I’m glad she’s healing well.
Matt... You are quite a natural LEADER. This comes shining through in EVERY VIDEO. You surround yourself with positiveness in every way, making you a fine example to emulate! Thanks for your inspirational ,calm and irascible instruction, many will follow your fine examples. You are a Good Man, and an easy follow.
I'm not so sure some mistakes he makes on recovery jobs are fully mistakes but training for avoiding situations.
Kaitlyn, your dad is so proud of you... you can see it on his face...
Glad to see you be part of MATT'S OFF ROAD AND RECOVERY TEAM...!!!!
YES!! I noticed that too. To me, that was one of the best parts of this video.
who is her dad?
@jx3449 the man that was rescued by matt...
The buggy that caught fire..
She is already an awesome addition to the team she's no Lizzy but with some practice she could become as good of a welder as Lizzy.
@@Dlutheran lol, she doesn't need to be compared to anybody, let her be whatever she is.
Love the trail repairs, keep it coming. Patiently waiting for the Bombi to get done for those snowy and muddy recoveries. To Jaymie, perhaps you meant a remarkable difference in temperature.
I never get tired of seeing the wrecker in action! Such a beast!
Matt: checks to make sure everyone else is in the right gear.
Also Matt: sends it in open diff rwd
Matt’s extreme erratic combined with Tom Toms extreme precision is awesome
I'm Glad Caitlin is on matt's off road recovery Team she's Awesome ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Matt and Team
Wow I would like to point out that I have been watching your channel and I very much enjoy it as I am disabled now, but the problem is You tube will not allow me to watch your or other channels whilst of have an add blocker on so I am sorry to say unless you tube change their policy I will be saying goodbye.
I do realize that it is how alot make money, but I also realize that our freedoms are being extinguished especially since i have been watching for so long it may seem like a little thing but when your main entertainment is you tube it is a big thing and I do not feel I should not be forced to pay for no adds. let as see what happens.
regards and best wishes for the future. you are one of the best youtubers out their.
Three lovely ladies on the rescue today; Jaymie, Caitlin, and Holly for a bonus!!! As already said, great to see how Matt trusts other people to drive 'his' rigs!
I know the Wrecker and the Morrvair are great rigs, but nothing CLIMBS like the Banana!!!
Caitlin "I can't leave him alone with anything!!!" LOL And the T-Shirt; "You can't scare me, I have a daughter". love it
Yay, Holly is back in action wheeling again! Caitlyn is cool, she is going to be a GREAT addition to the channel and the MORR Team of awesome people.
Caitlyn is such an accomplished off-road and rock crawler driver! I'll bet that she and Holly would make a great time and have a fun time together! Caitlyn is also a natural on camera.
She seems like a know all
@@tosgemYou seem like a judgemental person.
@@whatnow5313 i am, thank you very much
There is a clip somewhere in one of these videos with Caitlin. I think it was the first or the second one where it shows her rolling a vehicle at a competition and her first words when she climbs out of the vehicle is "I hope someone got that on camera" so she can clearly think like a UA-camr, the content is more important than anything else
Yup, Absolute classic line!@@the_undead
For a trail repair it looked great!!! And it got it off the trail and got them home. Cool beans!!!! Loved that “ I was worried about you but just not enough to slow down” lol lol
Good to see Hollie out driving.
i agree.. i was worried after seeing her injury vid.. that was gnarly..
I just paused the video, exclaimed "Hollie!" and came looking for this comment :)
Would be a better fit for her to drive the heavy wrecker, cause its sounds the same as Mischief Maker.
Wait, what happened?
@@standardindianShe had a SxS accident and broke her back.
Love how Matt checks to make sure everyone is in the correct gear then proceed in the wrong gear
I think was just seeing if the wrecker could do it in the wrong gear
They're likely doing a trail that pushes the other vehicles closer to their limit, whereas the wrecker has a long way to go before it finds something difficult, as evidenced by the fact that as far as I can tell he did a significant chunk of this in two-wheel drive
It was good to see Johnny Boy and Holly, especially the smile on Holly's face.
My brother and I used to use a piece of pipe with a chain through it hooked to both vehicles to keep them from bumping into each other when we towed it may work for you
There is a spoolgun that connects directly to the PPW, which might be easier to use than running 7018s. Welding tubing in that orientation is akin to the 6g position for pipe, and unless have experience/training, it will affect the quality of the repair. I would also suggest getting the leather hood for under vehicle welding, as it doesn't stick out as much as the shop hood does, and unless you have earplugs, you WILL get molten metal in your ear using the regular hood while laying in that position, while the leather hood completely covers your head, being a bit sweaty is better than a burn on your eardrum.
Holy cow, the wrecker needs its joints lubed up, I'd go crazy with all that creaking. Also good to see Holy back out on the trails, she healed up pretty good.
I was wondering if I missed/ignored all the squeaking in previous videos or if maybe, through the magic of editing, we just didn't hear it.
I believe mischief maker sounded like this is just about a year ago. I blame Holly for all the squeaking.
love seeing the Buckmaster but Jamie is the real star of the show 👊🏼
Couldn't have said it better
the camera man and editor always do such a great job
Agreed. They even dimmed the welding action so we wouldn't go blind 😂unless I'm wrong
This is great…Great vehicles, great people, great adventures, and great video! I just love how much fun and how much camaraderie you guys provide amidst a world of chaos. There is no value you can place on positivity and good humor. I hope your influence becomes infectious and that you will create a trend to keep improving the world around us! Cheers
I used to have a terribly messy toolbox until I discovered a revolutionary organization tool: pencil cases. Now my electrical meter isn’t tangled up with my screwdriver and sockets, etc. That scrambled toolbox on the wrecker could be tamed somewhat by using colour coded stuff sacks or hard cases for various types of gear. Put the welding items in a kit of their own and have the ropes and shackles in their own stuff sacks. It makes it much easier to get at what you need quickly and looks more professional as well.
Nice to see Holly @mischiefmaker back in the saddle again!!
And watching Caitlin drive is hilarious she has such a lead foot!! She puts the rock in rock crawling. 😂 You can tell she's been competing in speed events for a long time. That smile when she's behind the wheel tells it all. 😊
On vacation my wife and I took an off road excursion. It was UTV's through woods, trails dirt roads etc...after 3 days of rain haha. I put my wife in driver seat, I had the GO Pro(she's horrible with aiming cams, forgets she's doing it, ground isn't very interesting) ...she never stopped giggling it was hilarious. She loved the puddles
@@mrmotofy 🙂😊💥!!
@@mrmotofy so effing awesome! Love this Thanks for commenting!
Jaymie needs to open her wing window to get some airflow!🙂 Angle iron pieces are a good thing to have for link repairs. Rhet had the right gear on!!😃
What a great morning. I've watched FabRats and MORR. Now looking for Mischief Maker, Robby Layton Nation and Merlins Old School Garage. All of you are amazing. Thanks Matt for the video this morning.
Those are great I watch them all. Another great channel to watch is Matt's son at Rudy's Adventure and Design.
Tacos, um moocho gassie asz, pass on the sauce. 😅👍Have a good week and count your blessings amen.
I think I have this figured out. The Big Wrecker is actually a giant off road hot rod, that has recovery and towing equipment options.
I honestly feel like the fact that it's a wrecker was more so that Matt could make this a business expense, just building the perfect off-road vehicle
The seagulls and knees comment floored me! He is truly a man of culture.
What does it mean?!
Search seagulls, stop it now.
Kaitlin giving tshirt to her dad is defenitly a rite of passage !
i gotta find the build video where they go over this welding rig. I'd like to learn more about it. What Rod do you guys run on it?
Love seeing all the rigs out having fun.
It was 1965 when I discovered the wonder of stuff sacks. I had been camping with rectangular dacron insulated sleeping bags for years, but as a teen, I had saved up my money and bought a goosedown mummy bag from Ski Hut and it came in a stuff sack. It seemed like magic. LOL
Was great to see the Buckmaster again. I did miss the buck stopping clip😅
Rhett is Bad AZZ! He can drive. Caitlin is like Lizzie when she got started. She can’t replace Lizzie, but great addition to the crew. Matt is Soooo generous with sharing all his Rigs, giving everyone a chance to get the experience crawling. Good to see Johnny Boy! Great off-road repair job. 🤙😎
The reason why your videos are so popular is you make them FUN!!
The words at 19:15 is what we’ve all been waiting for. Very awesome and welcome to the team.
I had the heat issue in cab as well. I put in some sound deadener and a rubber floor mat. Reduced heat from engine bay a lot and it’s quieter now. Win win
Great suggestion. I was thinking a headliner with insulation would help also.
Matt ,when it came to winches....Like a Marine, he adapts, and overcomes his obstacles! Thanks everyone for a great video!
I will never forget when we were going on a wheeling trip and my friend had just put a new lift and tires on his jeep so he was all excited to try them out. After driving for about an hour and a half on the highway to get to the spot he wanted to go, we pulled onto the gravel road. We made it about 40ft and his fuel pump died lol.
LoL
In one of your videos you mentioned about the off-road wrecker squeaking and that you didn't like it. I think it adds to the essence of the wrecker. I would leave it, but I'm not there driving it and listening to it. Still, being that it is an "old" truck, I think the squeaks fit it perfectly.
This was a really good video, love seeing trail repairs, recoveries, and most of all everyone having a good time!
Just throwin this out there for the editor... I'd like to see video titles like, "will 'our' trail repair" rather than 'my' trail repair".
Very much a team effort.
Y'all are awesome!
19:11 so Caitlyn officially works for MORR now? Great news, looks like she knows her stuff and will be a great addition to the team!
Matt said they were thinking about it...probably official now
Out of all their vehicles I like the morrvair the best. It’s such a well built capable machine with an awesome body! ❤
I love it also just because it's a Corvair, of all things to build for a recovery vehicle. It does some amazing things and I can't believe that more customers are not surprised and comment on it. I always liked Corvairs and had a couple years ago. I can't speak for the first body style like this one but I know there was nothing unsafe about the handling of the later model ones. I put cragars with 60's on mine and it handled like a mini corvette. They got a bum rap when Nader bad-mouthed them. GM should have sued him. I have seen many of them modified, usually to go fast, but nothing compared to this awesome crawling machine and something Matt should be quite proud of. I also think it has the best sounding exhaust out of all his builds especially under a load.
@@JT-SE-OHIO totally agree 💯
Not a problem, Matt will get them fixed in the field!
Pro tip on using a wire wheel brush: If your grinder has variable speed, turn it down by 40 - 60% whenever you don't absolutely need full wheel speed. This greatly reduces the wire projectiles thrown from the wire wheel, and when they do, velocity will also be reduced. Bonus is a greatly extended wire wheel life.
Matt: “Are you in the right gear?” To everyone.
Also Matt: ( attempts next obstacle in two wheel drive)
🤣🤣Love it. 😍😍
Need a toll gate like Blazing Saddles. When I was but a lad in the 60's I'd often go to the woods with my dad to load logs to haul back to the sawmill. At that time we had a truck not a lot different from the WLW (only with the old stock 6 cyl engine.) Moving back and forth, hooking up a log then backing up to the log truck to set it on, in a woods, in the summer, DANG was it hot in the cab of that old International. But oh the ride home with the floor vents spewing all of the dust that had collected!
Awesome job on helping them out and others too. Awesome trail run too. Keep up the great work
I always find I have the wrong adjustable. If I pick up the metric one, you can be darn sure the bolt will be imperial!
Same with tartan paint, it always has the wrong colours in it.
thanks Tom for making sure that the remote was not on the tire
It is just amazing. What other crew would come out and do an on-trail repair? This is so cool. The best of America.
Trail Mater is another one to watch if you like Matt's. Lots of on trail repairs.
Good video. Friends and family just getting out and having fun. Something hopefully everyone remembers to do every once in awhile. A refreshing adventure and the claw hammer fails to make an appearance
@19:07 is the first good look I've gotten of the license plate. Love it! - WLORW
I think it's awesome... friendly and kind to let other's drive your vehicle's!
Looks like Matt needed someone to check on him to make sure the WLORW was in the right gear for crawling.
Rhett made me laugh when he checked his shirt. 🤣😂
Cheers on the safety glasses, Matt. You're too good of a man to have suddenly been wearing an eyepatch this Halloween.
being a good man unfortunately doesn't stop someone from being injured. i'll never understand the mentality behind avoiding PPE. they're called accidents because they happen unexpectedly. they would be called something else if you had to plan for it.
Yet he let's his kid drive a UTV with no helmet...🙄
@@bassblair11 The entire UTV frame is the helmet. They are strapped in. Jaymie even forever...
Jeeeeesus man, running a wire wheel like that with no glasses on is a REALLY good way to go blind. I was buffing slag off of plasma cut parts years ago, and had a can of coke sitting on a table behind me. Went to take a drink, and it had all leaked out after a wire that came off the wheel went right through the can. An eyeball is squishier than a can, lol.
Not only was that adjustable wrench an imperial when you needed a metric but what really surprised me was that it was a left handed one and somehow you still made it work and freed your wife. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I almost never use wire wheels anymore. Had a spot on my back for over a year that wouldn't heal figured an ingrown hair, or something. One day I pulled out a piece of crimped grinder wire. Now I use nylon abrasive wheels. You have to run them slower so I use my drill press or a variable speed buffer.
If you’re broken down and see the yellow convoy coming over the mountain you know you’re in good hands!😂
I loved seeing Rhett in the RZR 800. It's a machine that will teach him a lot when it comes to picking his lines and thinking things through carefully in order to keep the machine upright. I had been an avid off roader in an assortment of vehicles for almost 30 years before I got one of the 800's back in 2009. I was amazed at how much more I had to learn when I got that machine, and am still amazed at how capable it is once you learn to use it. I will comment though that you possibly had a little excess capacity in your choice of recovery rope to help him get up the ledge. Also, a harness is a good choice in that machine as they are easy to roll.
Matt should show Jamie how to operate the side vent windows in the wrecker.
A lost art, that was all we had back in the day, lol.
That is 260 air conditioning and unless the vent windows a loose you can direct the airflow right where it’s needed.
That’s all the “air conditioning” I ever had in the old Ford C Cabs I drove in the 80’s and 90’s. Also where I learned that you remove and reinstall the inner door handles to point down so you don’t end up hanging off one by your pocket like a piñata.
Hey Matt, you need to take the wrecker back to the dealer for all those squeaking noises at 3:37 fixed. That should be covered under the new truck warranty.
Thank you Matt for helping Hollie get relief from her trail fever. Next time she will have MM back and crawling all over Sand Hollow!
Mischiefmoocher
@@eddie8279 lol, you again, troll?
It’s lovely to see the whole big bunch of you together and the customers, the wwe tag team between mat and Tom Tom was very efficient. Nice to see Holly back in the seat, could you do an update on the state of the wrecker ? Are the lockers working now or are they still broken ? 14:00 lockers question answered !
Hollie is there and the Wrecker starts squeaking.....😂🤣😁
She brings bad vibes wherever she goes 😕
@@eddie8279 Eddie, man, you gotta let the hate go!
Really, man...
I wake up every morning just to watch Matt's Off-road Recovery
BEST video in a while....this one checked all the boxes for me!!!!
Holly!!!!! Glad to see her back!
2:14 Good Greif... if they were called "The Refrigerators" would people wonder if there were cold drinks in them?
Yes.
Happy to see KATELYNN (that's how she spells her name. I confirmed it on her father, Kevin's YT channel, @Kevins-offroading) is officially a member of the MORR team. Her smile and good cheer are infectious. Wise decision Matt to hire more young talent. Two good recoveries in one video. Nice way to start my Friday.
Reminder to all commenters, Katelynn is the correct spelling.
Ah yes, the downsides of unique spellings.
Wow! Awesome research! Glad you are focused on the really important things!
The offroad wrecker, in my estimation, is a work of art! A few bugs to go but, like the Morvair, an engineering masterpiece!
I'm glad to see holli up and at it getting better
The Seagulls and knees reference got me. I was not expecting that from Matt.
You know i'm going to have to get myself a metric adjustable now! 😂😂😂
Having had to pull a piece of wire from a wire wheel out of my chin as well as my stomach, I strongly agree that glasses, if not a face shield, are a must.
Also, glad to see Holly up and about!
Great to see holli behind the wheel off road again
Too funny with Jamie getting stuck in SxS seatbelt.
then goes to Tom & Matt talking & can see Ret(?) In background pulling the seat out of SxS & drops it on the ground
😂
did matt say wire wheels are like "seagulls and knees?"
Seagulls poke your knees
Hey stop it now!
@3:10... If Matt hadn't have closed off the Hood Vent, you could open it, to help keep the cab of the wrecker cooler; you could also open the wing windows. @13:30... Tom's descent was only a little bit slower this time.
Happy Monday!🎉😂
Caitlin has definitely warmed up to the camera!! Great job!! Great addition to the MOOR team!!
That first recovery was like if a fishing boat called for assistance with an engine problem and they sent a carrier group 😂
Caitlin's going to fit right into Matts team ,she got the right DNA from her dad!!!!
cheers to Holly looking good, looking healthy and happy! nice to see you back on the trail!
I have a suggestion for the show/shop: put Tom-Tom in charge of and managing everyone and everything for 3 months, including Matt. Tom can put into place all best practices and procedures, including scheduling, organizing, HR, budgeting, purchasing, maintenance, safety, design, welding techniques, etc., especially delegating work.
And a great time will be had by all. 😊
6:35 Because "high frequency" DC provides deeper and wider penetration with a cleaner bead by agitating the welding puddle
So you're saying it welds better...got it haha
@@mrmotofy Much better. But it's really hard to learn about it cause only one other person has ever offered a "HF-DC" welder so information is extremely scarce
@@Patrick.Weightman There are others starting to use a different kind...can't remember what it is. Guy sells em and been on a couple channels showing how to use it. Waldo's World was the most recent I seen few month back
Looks like you have made a great addition to your team!
Kaitlyn has been a great addition to the team, it brings some diversity to the channel. Doesn’t hurt that she’s adorable too. Lol. It’s nice seeing you train these youngsters and lead them to be successful people. You Utah bunch are some of the best people out there!
Yeah I was excited when they said in the last video they were considering hiring her.
