    That is awesome! After I watched a couple other videos about this Tokyo Rig I decided to see if I could make one myself. I actually had of of materials and ended up building 4 of them that are as near as you can get to the actual VM version. Can't wait to get out there and give them a try. After watching this video, I am really stoked about the possibilities. Thanks Flukemaster.

    Been making and fishing this rig for years. Very effective rig. Not sure when they changed the name to the Tokyo rig but it was called the “jika” (zeeka) rig. Just use 2 small split rings, one through the eye of the hook and then take a drops shot weight and connect it to the other split ring.

    I've never in my life seen any bass that fat let alone a seven pound one. My goodness man, this is the first video I came across for the Tokyo rig an the reason why is a kid I fish with and pay him for lures he find along the bank have me it since I give him baits and advice all the time. Great video man thanks for sharing!

  • @NealVan
    @NealVan 5 років тому

    Those were two truly awesome big fat bass ya caught on that Tokyo rig! Congrats!! I stumbled upon that rig on Amazon as I’m always searching for ways to try new fishing techniques since I’m essentially a beginner when it comes to fishing artificial baits of any kind. I live on a brackish water canal where we have everything from bass to crappie to bream/bluegills which obviously are freshwater critters. PLUS we get saltwater critters from Mullet to Tilapia to Blue Claw Crabs! Ever catch an Armored Sailfish Catfish? I have a ‘family’ of five living near my plastic pier type thing I made from plastic shelving and anchored in the water at the bank in my backyard.
    So much variety ALL existing at the same time in the same canal water!! The only clue to what might be biting is the water temperature. Right now it’s slow going with the saltwater fish, but it’s kickin’ butt with all the bass, crappie, and monster size bream/bluegills. Too bad we’re so far inland we don’t get any striped bass here. However, we also have a few resident 6’ alligators, 20+ lb snapping turtles, 25+ lb Alligator Snapping turtles and monster 30+ lb Mud Turtles who love nearly all the live bait such as worms, etc. plus we can use nearly ANY human food that will hold up on a hook to catch almost any of the various fish species here. And my personal favorite thing I never knew would work...Dry Cat food in a 1/2 gallon chum bucket brings ALL the critters except the alligator (thank god...LOL) in about an hour at this time of year when the water is in the mid 60s to less than ten minutes in the summer when the water is almost 90 degrees. I’m guessing other must know about cat food as chum, but I’ve never seen a video regarding chum that mentions anything about cat food. If you’ve not tried it for those without boats, kayaks, etc. and are stuck fishing from the bank...I strongly suggest giving it a try and see how it will bring any fish or other aquatic critters fight to where you are for those of us who don’t have the ability to go to places with fishing spots like seen in this video.
    Perhaps I’ll invest in a decent GoPro body cam and make videos of the fishing I know how to do with live bait and other human edibles, plus how I’m learning from videos like this how to become a better artificial bait/lure fisherman. People here were blown away with a 2.5lb bass I caught. I as well as all here would likely pass out from excitement if me or anyone else caught a bass even close to your two monsters! LOL. Keep on fishing!!
