    I actually use heavy weights and use it exclusively for punching mats. Goes easily in and out of the cover and keeps the bait out of the silt. Caught multiple large mouth bass over 5lbs last year using it. Recommend it to anyone fishing extremely heavy cover.

    If you drag it side ways the weight & wire can get snagged, have you ever fished weiss lake, the tokyo rig would be great there!👍🎣

    Tokyo rig works great with swimbaits, also!

      That actually sounds like a great bait to use with one. Ill have to try that.

    Caught one dink a few years ago. Nothing since; however, your presentation using ZMan plastics revives my interest to use it again.
    I make my own rigs; only have to invest in tungsten weights.

      Yeah, I really think Elaztech is well suited for this technique!

      @@SonarFishing , I own lots of ZMan plastics. In recent years I can’t get a bite on them. You continues presentations on this fine product gives me confidence to use them again.

    Tried it a little bit last year with no luck. Going to give it a shot again though.

      Yeah, to me this rig isn’t like a traditional drop-shot, where it works in the majority of situations. I think it is more of a niche technique that can give an edge in certain situations but isn’t quite necessary in others. Thanks

    Probably work good in farm ponds with dirty bottom

      In fact, I think this may be one of the better techniques for still water fisheries like farm ponds!

    That's similar to a wired weight we use in Lake Erie for walleye called a bottom-bouncer. Most people use bottom bouncers for trolling but we drag them as we're drift fishing. The same idea to keep the bait at that bottom level.

    • @SonarFishing
      @SonarFishing  4 місяці тому

      Yeah, there’s a few things on the market used for different situations that are similar.

    Never had any luck with it. You said to use lighter weight. Thanks I was using heavy weight. I will retry!

    • @SonarFishing
      @SonarFishing  4 місяці тому

      Yes, a lighter weight may do a lot of good and help your catch rate. Also, as with any technique it just takes time and persistence to figure out where (if at all) a technique fits into an individual’s arsenal. Certainly hope this video helps you figure out if it fits in yours!

    A short powershot works 100% better.

    • @SonarFishing
      @SonarFishing  4 місяці тому

      You know I was thinking the same thing, but I think there is something to having a rigid wire dropper for certain situations that keeps the bait separated from the weight.
