I personally think that your 10 out of 10 beautiful in those long denim overalls! ☺️ your an awesome cleaner in them! 😊 keep up the goodwork with your videos! ☺️
I would also add that it’s best to pick out pieces that have only the original factory finish on them. Don’t try flipping pieces that someone has already painted/refinished because you may waste time trying to fix/cover up other people’s mistakes. Also, if the piece was already sanded & re stained you might not have very much wood veneer left to work with. Love your content!
Yes absolutely - that is is all I do, no working on others already projects 😀
Thank you
Thank you. ❤❤❤
Hi from South Africa. I really enjoyed this video. Thank you. You are a great teacher
Hi! Wow welcome and thank you for watching! Thank you for the nice compliment! 😀
Awesome video, as usual. Didn’t think I needed to watch it, bc I know the process, but still learned a TON. When you say things like “I know it’s a solid wood piece so I can be more aggressive with my sand grit” it helps me learn how to THINK like an expert. There are several times when you could save time by saying less, but there is no “fluff” in what you’re saying - just helpful knowledge the whole time :-)
But dang it, I wanted to watch you topcoat it also! Oh well, time for another video I guess lol
Thank you I’m so glad you found it helpful! I have a few start to finish videos as well as dedicated topcoat ones! 😀
Thank you! This was very helpful. I appreciate the detail you provide in your videos.
Thank you so much! I’m so glad
Lots of useful info in your video. Thank you.
Thank You!
Beautiful, as always.
Thank you so much
Thanks for the video the content was great. I’m a woodworking hobbiest. I was looking at doing some refinishing as a as an expansion of my hobby. I’ve done a few projects on the side for friends and family and I plan on tackling my kitchen cabinets soon. I was looking at the dixiebelle silk line or the melange all in one paint line. Do you have a preference for either? I plan to be rolling and spraying whichever direction I go. Any guidance would be appreciated.
I prefer the melange one! It’s more wipeable and the coverage is amazing. Also I have a discount code for it! BARN10
Awesome Job on this video! Your a hardworker in those Overalls! I give you credit! You spend a lot of time in those overalls grinding it out not afraid to get paint or dirt in them! 😊 you look like you have a good work ethic! Keep up the good work with your videos! As always you look pretty In those Overalls! 🙂 keep up the goodwork!
Thank you so much and thanks for watching always! :)
@@BorninaBarnBoutique Your Very Welcome! :)
This was one of the most comprehensive videos you have ever done. It was fantastic! One question: why did you not use a wood conditioner before brushing on the stain? Was it because the wood sanded evenly and didn't look splotchy in its raw state?
Not every piece needs to have wood conditioner applied. I only do when I know it may be an issue (Pine typically takes stain unevenly) and really old antiques can be very dry and benefit so its a good one to use in those cases.
Do you stain the underside of the stained top or paint it? How do you avoid getting stain on your painted areas?
I paint the underside. I typically only stain tops, so it’s hard to really get It on the paint, but sometimes it can when the edge is close to the painted area. Don’t put a ton of stain on, wipe slowly and if you do get a little on the paint, take a rag with mineral spirits right away and wipe it off.
What sprayer would you suggest for a first sprayer?
I loved my earlex 5500, that was my first sprayer
When selling the pieces, what happens with shipping if it is further away and the person is unable to pick up... do you charge them the shipping?
Oh yes, shipping is expensive it can sometimes be as much as the piece itself. You have to find a shipping company (not fed ex or ups) they don’t ship large heavy furniture. There is a company called uship - you submit a quote based on weight size and distance - and yes the buyer would pay the cost of the shipping
@@BorninaBarnBoutique Thank you so much for your response. I think that is what has always put me off.
Can you start sanding with 150? Why work up to 150?
You should always work through the grits for best final finish. You will work a long time to remove finish with 150 it’s too fine. I have a sanding class you can purchase that goes over everything sanding - it’s a great class - www.borninabarnboutique.net/shop
What are the best colors for furniture flipping?
We’ll that would be nice but was interested in the best product line for repainting kitchen cabinets or which line do you have the most confidence in when re sell your projects.
Whites are still the most popular, greige (grey & beige tones), greys, black and navy
How does it work out shipping wise - I'm guessing you just look at local pieces and go pick it up....
I only buy local pieces
@@BorninaBarnBoutique But when it comes to selling and the buyer is further away, they would be resposible for the shipping?
@@lindasalfen7879 yes absolutely
