  • Come with me for a full furniture flip tutorial showcasing the Retique It Ultratique All In One Paint's chalk finish! I'm so excited to see how this Retique It All in One paint performs on this dresser, so I'll be BOTH brushing and spraying. I'll take you step by step through the process as I makeover this small dresser. I'll even teach you how I refinished the top by sanding to bare wood and applying a stain wash.

    Love the way you blended those two colors on the top, and thanks for comparing brush vs spray. Also love the cardboard trick when spraying the drawers, that's going to save me some taping time. I'm Subscribed!

    Thanks for the link to the sanding pads. I was using the sanding blocks but they are expensive and they are harder to use on details.

    Thanks so much for this video! I get so much instruction from your videos. It’s very helpful. Did I notice that the underside of the top is the same color as the furniture piece and only the top and side of the top get the “top” treatment? I’ve been wondering about this. Thanks again for making such great videos - they’re instructional and we can see what you’re doing.

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  2 роки тому

      Of course - Thank you for watching. I never do the top treatment underneath, I always so the body paint color on the underside. 😀

    Kimberly: the second brush you used is really magical....amazing how at about 8:32, before drying, it leaves a silhouette of a camera tripod on the furniture. ; - Good thing when it dries that tripod vanishes! ; - )

    Love it wow learned so much! What grit do you use when you started sanding top? And what did you end up using for last sanding?

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  2 роки тому

      Hi there - I am so glad! I mention in the video at the very beginning of the sanding segment - this was veneer so I started with 100 grit, then 120, 150 and ending with 180 if I need :)

    I want to paint my exterior, white steel door with Retique it "light wood" base color with grain tool then stain it a dark golden color. Can I use a stain practice board of ANY MATERIAL (wood, MDF, plastic, etc...) to paint the "light wood" base color and stain it with a couple of practice stains? Does it matter that my practice board isn't white steel like the actual door? I want to be sure I end up with the right color stain on my door...thank you!

    Great video
    quick question
    do you have a tip for when the drawers are touching the inside frame and the paint comes
    off from the contact
    Not sure if I will be there right but I hope you understand my question
    Thank you 😊 👍

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  2 роки тому +2

      I do understand and yes that can happen on a tight fit. If you see that happening, stop and sand down your drawer edges or the inside frame some with an electric sander (take down a little bit) so that you drawers will have a little more room to slide when painted. You can also salve or wax the frame after painting to help it glide.

    Beautiful! what color was the Retique paint that you used? How would you compare this paint to Country Chic paint?

    • @BorninaBarnBoutique
      @BorninaBarnBoutique  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you - I always put all the details in the show notes as well. It is Dove Grey. Similar in look and feel - dries matte - it is a thicker consistency than country chic and does have a primer built in unlike country chic, but a very good paint.
