As a medically discharged boot, this helps a lot with my combat readiness.

Having an ifak you can get to yourself always makes sense. Self aid, buddy aid, corpsman aid. Great video dude!!

Easily accessible TQs is a must.
Having protected 7:59 TQs is ‘the way’
    4 limbs 4 TQs minimum.

As a non-service member modern minute man I freaking can't explain how much these videos mean to us

For the tq on your fanny pack I recommend looking into the Defense Mechanism Tourniquet Cover. It's made to cover the tq kept in elastic sleeves. I've had one on my duty gear for a tq holster mount for about a year and I haven't had issues.
Also thanks for the info and ideas 👍

I have Warrior Assault Systems tear away IFAK. This enables you to position it anywhere as it can be ripped away from the velcro back panel and gives complete access to the person using it.

Kept issued on your rear left cummerbund and had that blue force one on my belt in the middle, reached with both hands. The issued one was for buddy and corpman aid so it had all the issued insides. The blue force was for self aid, it was a stop gap kit.
Stop gap as in i had stuff i could use on myself and some extra medical till my corpman or buddy came to help. So two TQs, Israeli bandage, 1 gauze and 1 quick colt.

@@MrSwccguy nothing wrong with that. The 2 ifak system is very smart

Common compromise to uncompromising and poorly thought out SOPs:
Carry the one in exactly the personally inaccessible buddy aid position they've probably stipulated (like back left of your cummerbund). Add to it if you feel like. You're never going to be able to get to it yourself so size isn't necessarily an issue up to a point. SOPs are a minimum, not a maximum.
Carry a second, smaller one strictly for self aid in a more accessible location. Nothing but the bare essentials for plugging major holes. You won't be sticking yourself with a needle D or putting an NPA up your own nose. Gauze, chest seals, and ace wraps/ETBs.

A secondary benefit to overpacking your buddy aid kit is it gives your medic more of your stuff to work with so he doesn't have to immediately start dipping into his aid bag for basic shit like gauze and tape.

Very good points. I’m probably going to start using a smaller kit for that purpose

Defense mechanisms offers a tq sleeve that turns those wide elastic holders into an enclosed solution

Love the medical episodes. I think all corpsman should have Fanny pack or a pouch to treat out of on their body armor. Makes the most sense to me. Bag gets opened if you’re f’d up.

    • @TheGruntPerspective
      @TheGruntPerspective  4 дні тому +1

Most corpsmen I’ve had have done something similar, big Fanny pack, lots of stuff spread out throughout their gear, and then the med bag for big stuff like saline

Also as a civilian, Fanny pack medical makes a lot of sense. Off body carry extra medical in some normal color, hang it off headrest in car easy to grab, works with almost any gear system, weather or clothing
