As someone who grew up in a household where these discussions of sex and even genital health were very unacceptable, this discussion covered in less than 2 hours most of what it took me years to figure out on my own. Thank you for helping people get the information I didn't have.

Fantastic conversation! 🙌 You both covered so many important and relevant topics-I hope this podcast reaches a wide audience. One topic that really stood out to me was testosterone. I see many young males in my practice being unnecessarily prescribed testosterone by online companies, often without proper workup or monitoring, which is truly concerning. I’ll be sharing this with my patients and hope more people tune in!
Would love to see a video on hairloss in men - it's so easy to get online-prescriptions for finasteride and minoxidyl that it's a little worrying. And so many companies are advertising on UA-cam through creators a lot.
Thanks for having this conversation in public. ED is so often ridiculed in our society, while it can take a significant toll on a man's mental health. It's good to see people like you two changing that narrative into something healthy and helpful.

The issue with testing for testosterone, the "normal range" is 300-1200. The range is extreme. This range doesn't even look at age. So 300 for a 20 year old and 300 for a 65 year old are both considered normal.
Yes because age changes the number, not the sensitivity. Meaning the range is pretty accurate for all ages. A 20 year old at 220 and an 80 year old at 220 are both hypogonadal. However what's more important is symptomology in general. You might have one guy (regardless of age) at 290 that feels fine and has no symptoms because his sensitivity is higher than normal. You can also have guys at 350, who are having all the symptoms because thier receptor density or sensitivity are abnormally low. That's part of why the range is so broad to begin with, since a lot of guys with "low normal" are usually highly sensitive, and guys with "high normal" levels are less sensitive, since guys with 400 and 900 are basically indiscernible from each other.
I don't see how you're supposed to build data on this and determine what is actually normal, when doctors are refusing to do testosterone tests and no-one is gathering the data on a population level and your doctor hasn't got your previous checks in your medical records so they can say, 'Look, your T was 500 at 19, 485 at 30, 470 at 45 and this reduction isn't due to a hormonal problem, but because this chart matches up perfectly with your muscle mass loss which I also have the data for.' I really don't think doctors get big data or what it's for yet. There's a company that's edging in on using heart rate to accurately pin down your blood glucose which would democratise continuous blood glucose monitors since it'll be a one time purchase. They can only do that with huge amounts of data, which Dr Mike has said before he's opposed to gathering because the general public can't interpret it. Well... neither can scientists if they aren't allowed to gather it.
@@taylorhillard4868 usually people get ordered a hormone panel through their primary care physician and they ask for symptomology and interpret current T levels in the context of patient history. If T is borderline low, there are lifestyle interventions that can nearly double the testosterone, especially in younger men. Having more sensitive and specific tests and adjusting the ranges for age might be a good thing, but the problem that ‘some people who would benefit from TRT are being missed because of these rigid and outdated reference values’ is just not existent, because even if the T is low - lifestyle first, medications later. And not that many people maximize their T FOR SURE because majority of them are (a third of the male population-and that’s a conservative estimate) sedentary and don’t sleep enough. Thanks for doing this episode! It responded to a lot of curiosities I'm having about how to think about my health and have productive conversations with my PCP as I enter my 40s. Regarding your curiosity around the fear of herpes, the way sex ed was taught when I was in middle and high school (in the late 1990s in the state of Virginia), STIs were essentially discussed in two buckets. In the first bucket were the STIs presented as having awful symptoms but were curable. The second bucket were the STIs that were presented as infections you had to deal with for the rest of your life: HIV/AIDS, HPV, and herpes. And when herpes is lumped in with AIDS (especially in the 90s), that particular STI has a high fear factor. It was an approach that created a lot of anxiety around sex and sexuality--unless you were in a cis het relationship with one human and were focused on procreation, in which case sex was AOK.

as someone with Low T and currently on TRT, I'm currently doing my own research to help me understand what might be going on with my body, i got my 4th injection today and im feeling great so far
These two need to do one more podcast. The podcast should be a complete collection of bullet-points about information that both males and female should know about their bodies as they grow. The video should be split up in "Pre-teens", "Teens", "post-teens". Why. Because there are millions of people across the world who would benefit from this information that they don;t have anyone in their life that they could get accurate information. This would be a great opportunity to also let them know who and when to contact professionals when certain things are. Dr. Mike and Dr. Rena could be a terrific "Today's Mom & Dad's birds and the bees talk" givers. This health PSA if very much needed. Please thumbs up this post to hopefully see how much we agree on this. Thank you to all in advance who support this request.
Hey Dr Mike love the video so far but I think it would really help if you like had some cliff notes or like little notes on the bottom they explained what some of these are
BPH - Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a health issue that becomes more common with age. It's also called an enlarged prostate. Not sure they mentioned it several times if they actually said what it was.
I have a serious question. How does it feel to give birth as a woman, because I hear so many different responses. Some of them are "Yes, it is painful" and "No, it's not painful"?
Thank you Dr Mike and Dr Malik for giving us a very insightful video about this particular health that is undervalued. Dr Malik has shown me how under appreciated urologist are and now have I more respect for her and all urologist for their care towards our sex health. Thank you!!!

Dr. Mike, you have had many nurses on the podcast, when will you have a PA or NP on the show?
Really loved this episode, even though most of it doesn't apply to my life! Just goes to show how a great podcast can hook you with interesting content and expert guests. It would be interesting to have a similar episode about perimenopause and menopause, since those topics can be such a mystery to so many people. :)

She tackles the topics about your tackle.
Dr. Mike thank you, for sharing both of your expertise on this subject. I really appreciate you for all the educational content you have posted!
Learned a lot in this segment. Thank you both for the information.
I look forward to listening to this short conversation. 😅 Carefully!! 😊 Thank you in advance for the information.
Dr. Mike knew what he was doing making this type of video in November of all months
Hey Dr Mike love the video so far but I think it would really help if you like had some cliff notes or like little notes on the bottom they explained what some of these are
This podcast was epic. Mandatory watching for all adults, especially men.
BPH - Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a health issue that becomes more common with age. It's also called an enlarged prostate.
Not sure they mentioned it several times if they actually said what it was.
I was surprised at the downplaying of herpes. Depending on which virus it is, it can most certainly be a factor in causing different types of cancers.
Happy Early Birthday Dr.Mike! My birthday is also the same date as yours! The videos was great keep up the great work!
I cannot describe how psychologically healing it is for a doctor to describe my genitals as perfectly normal
Hey Mike could you talk about self harm and mental health
Day 78 of asking Doctor Mike to post a video about Hair Loss and its Treatment.
I have a serious question. How does it feel to give birth as a woman, because I hear so many different responses. Some of them are "Yes, it is painful" and "No, it's not painful"?
