As a kid, when it came to video games I was predominantly into platform games like Mario and Sonic as well as action adventures like Zelda. However, as I entered my teens, I began to discover the wonderful genre that is RPG's. Kicked off for me by the iconic Final Fantasy VII, the genre soon became a favourite of mine. Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, the Quintet trilogy... I could list so many that I became a big fan of. One series that seemed to allude me, though, was the Ys franchise (pronounced, "ee's"). A fantastic series of old school Japanese RPG's that are still being developed to this day, they always come accompanied with absolutely stellar soundtracks! Which brings us to Ys III: Wanderers from Ys. Bursting at the seams with ripping tunes composed by the incredibly talented Mieko Ishikawa, this cover is based on the version which accompanied the TurboGrafx (PC Engine) CD release, which was arranged by the also impressively talented Ryo Yonemitsu. The were several other versions of the song including ones for the Super Nintendo and Sega Mega Drive/Genesis ports which differ somewhat but the TurboGrafx CD version is definitely my favourite.
