      I drove a 2007 Nissan Titan for 13 years bought it with 8 miles and eventually traded it in on a Raptor this year. I'll tell you this much, that Endurance V8 ran better and sounded better...than the 3.5L Ecoboost ... I'm not 100% sold on this 3.5L twin turbo. Funny because the Titan is always rated at the bottom of the stack but is still a very capable truck. In those 13 years all I ever did was change the water pump and radiator in terms of anything major. They're pretty damn good offroaders too its the only other truck I would consider besides my Raptor is another Pro4x.

      No it won't. I work at a Nissan dealership as a technician and I see so many of the Titans & Armadas coming in with major engine issues and the upper oil pan leaking very much. We even needed to replace a few Titans with new engines with around 30k-40k miles. One of them had just 83 miles! Like I said on my post a few days ago. If you want a good looking truck in your driveway? Go and get one then

    Why is it when someone mentions the horsepower of the 5.6 in the 2020 Titan, it is alway brought up that it requires premium fuel to achieve maximum 400 hp, but they never mention that when talking about the GM 6.2, which I’m told the manual states that it needs 93 octane?

    • @Bru946
      @Bru946 4 роки тому +2

      Ronald Poley The titan on normal gas will make 390hp and 400lbs of tq and on premium only then it makes 400hp and 417lb of tq.

    • @ronaldpoley4357
      @ronaldpoley4357 4 роки тому +7

      @Regis Riley I own a 2018 Titan SL and it’s by no means underpowered. It’s rated a 390 hp and 394 ft.lbs. At least we can say that Nissan tells you what the hp and torque numbers are, while GM only says performance will be less on the 6.2 using regular unleaded.

    • @ronaldpoley4357
      @ronaldpoley4357 4 роки тому +5

      “Premium unleaded gasolinemeeting ASTM specification D4814 with a posted octane rating of 93 - (R+M)/2 - is highly recommended for best performance and fueleconomy. Unleaded gasoline with an octane rated as low as 87 can be used. Using unleaded gasoline rated below 93 octane, however, will lead to reduced acceleration and fuel economy. If knocking occurs, use a gasoline rated at 93 octane as soon as possible, otherwise, the engine could be damaged.”
      This I understand is from the GM manual. It sounds like you may have no choice but to run 93 octane.

    • @Bru946
      @Bru946 4 роки тому +3

      Ronald Poley I mean I agree, I own a 2007 SE and a 2020 Titan Pro-4x now. Premium is noticeable.

    • @JsGarage
      @JsGarage 4 роки тому

      @@ronaldpoley4357 Pretty sure it's 91 octane according to the manual but I understand in many areas that will mean 93 anyways. Yes I do feel it should be mentioned that both Ford Ecoboost and GM 6.2L recommend 91+ for their rated power figures but are "safe" on 87. 5.0L and 5.3L rated and recommended on 87 in truck applications. Ram is also recommended at 89 (mid grade) for the 5.7L hemi and most people don't talk about that either. As a 5.7L owner its hard to tell any real difference between running 87 and 89 however. In my ecoboost truck I could notice quite distinctively when running 93 vs 87 on the stock tunes. 87 the truck was still very powerful but premium made an obvious difference in the turbo truck.

    I'd buy the Nissan Titan, hands down! Those seats are great! and there's lot of 'beef' in that 5.6 engine too. Properly equipped, you get that great panoramic sun roof, which is great too, when you drive along, mostly for your passengers!
    Even without the great price advantages these days, the Titan brings really ;power AND value to it's owners.

    Just test drove the Titan Pro4x today. Sticker is $59790 and they offered to sell at $49,326 plus $500 in fees.
    Pros: No cylinder deactivation, no auto stall, good power, smooth transmission, good ride quality, well designed interior, nice V8 sound, very comfy seats, 100k warranty, sound system, good visibility.
    Cons: High seating position with not much headroom with sunroof(I am 5’ 10”), heavy steering, low quality camera resolution.
    I am currently driving a 17 GMC Sierra with 6.2 which I really like but have transmission issues which is somewhat better after fluid change but still not great and brakes are getting spongy at 66k miles.

    The XD is excellent for towing and hauling. It's a much heavier truck and feels much more confident when towing and braking. Chances are that you will need more capacity in the future so I would go slightly bigger. Stay away from 2019 gasser with the 7 speed. But the 2016 to 2019 Cummins is an awesome combo and you can get some really good deals right now on that out going model. 2020s appear to be really good, but the jury is still out in that given its new. Oh and don't forget about that awesome Nissan warranty! Can't get that from GM.

    Nathan, Thanks for the information. I don't understand why everyone is so concerned about rear axle gear ratios. You should be looking at the overall ratio including the transmission ratios. I have a 2004 Titan with a 3.357 ratio differential. It compares to a 4:11 ratio when you factor in the lower gear ratio of the transmission.
    Also, just an observation about your testing. Why does TFL always brake torque trucks when drag racing. As a daily driver, I don't know anyone who brake torques at every stop light. It is my opinion that a more fair (realistic) comparison would be to just mash the go pedal without brake torqueing.
    Keep up the good work, Thanks!

    • @NathanDAdlen
      @NathanDAdlen 4 роки тому +6

      We do multiple tests before we shoot the race. We try to determine the fastest way to launch the trucks - (traction control on/off, 4WD on/off, launch control, ect.). Over the years, we've noticed that many, but not all, vehicles launch faster when brake torquing. I use it often, especially when I am in a large city, and need to merge at an on-ramp.

That engine is absolutely bullet proof, and the power is ridiculous. So the other day I pulled the trigger on a lightly used 2017 Tundra double cab PRO. Well folks, I can tell you this. I'm going back to the Titan. Better mpg, better power, better seats, better stereo the list just goes on and on. IT DOESNT MATTER. What is the end game at the wheels with the 9 speed transmission??? You guys at TFL still do not understand this concept. Titan/Nissan could have put a 5::60 diff in the Titan and it makes no difference because they would just build the 9 speed transmission differently and the end game at the wheels would be the same gd thing. Diff size only makes a difference if its hooked to the same transmission, otherwise stop acting like it makes a diff-erence.

    Jamal.
    Two reasons you should stay away from GM trucks.
    1. Mechanically its the same as your 2016, which have you problems with. A 4 year old vehicle should NOT be having problems already.
    2. You mentioned considering a 2500 GM truck. 1 major problem with that truck. ITS FUGLY!!!!!!

      Exactly. A 4 year old vehicle should not give you any issues at all. I have a few trucks, and none of mine have given me any issues at all. 2 of them are older than 4 years old, and one of them has more than 150k miles, and it still runs beautifully. I'd ditch the GM, and get the Titan, because GM'S have the tendency of being unreliable.

    • @lastplaceracing6540
      @lastplaceracing6540 4 роки тому

      I may be wrong (not the first time lol) but wasn't the only engine change was DFM and adding a 10 speed transmission? GM seems to have issues, in the past, producing new computer controlled technologies in their vehicles. I'd be very cautious until those technologies have been proven in the real world. For example, cooling issues already with the new 3.0 i6 duramax diesel.

I had to buy the tires because Bayou nissan where I bought the truck nor the nissan corpation would replace them. Even though the truck had sit on their lot for over a year and I was told by another nissan dealership the tires had flat spots. I was told by the dealership, the tires were not under warranty. I was told Nissan Customer care it was normal for the truck to shake at those speed. What a ridiculous response. Now, I see why their sales are declining and they stopped trying to sell trucks in Canada.

At comparable price when buying just the standard engines, it’s only Ford with the base 6.2 had less HP. If it were me? I’d seriously consider buying a new Chevy HD, especially if needing to tow anywhere near or above 5,000 lbs. with a couple adults, pets, with everything needed for a week at least of camping travel. If you’re worried about reliability, I’d get a good extended bumper to bumper warranty that covers the life of the loan.

    The Titan 5.6 is a little less powerful but a much better engine than the GM 6.2 purely because of the silly Active fuel management. When GM can keep the lifters from failing then it can be considered a great engine.
    Also the Titan with a 3.69 is PLENTY STOUT for Towing. We are talking about a 9 speed trans. Not a 4 speed.

Ford and Ram have better systems by a good margin and they are both about to get further updates to those systems. Nissan is stuck in the past. Invest the money into infotainment Nissan! There are all kinds of market studies that show the importance of tech in automobiles. The Titan is mostly a good pack but between lacking tech, low res cameras, dash buttons that are starting to fall behind farm equipment it's no wonder people aren't buying these trucks in volumes.
