@@crittendon1000 it's shame that you had problems though mine was one of the first made in 2003 & I didn't have any problems except the brake servo needs to be reset once in while, just to turn off & start! One thing that you can only find in the Titan that I absolutely LOVE are the adjustable angle headlights. I know they're for when towing weight tilts the truck back, but after driving up and down hills at night as much as I do, I WISH other vehicles had the same feature.
The longer bed would be the biggest factor for me for an XD over the standard Titan. I can't seem to get past a full size truck with less than a 6' bed.
@@cmelochick But you loose in payload/ towing capacity with a crew cab and a 8 foot bed. Not too mention, all of the other electrical goodies on it. Do you actually haul stuff in your 8 foot bed? Just my two cents.
5:45 that 5.6 still sounds amazing. The Titan has always sounded like it has a cat back. I'll never forget when my dad bought his 05 titan, the salesman started it up and we both looked at each other like, "whoa?!" 😃
My uncle had a 2004 with the 5.6 and now has a 2006 with the 5.6. His 2004 truck was going strong with nearly 300k miles until it was totaled by a reckless driver. He bought the 2006 with around 168k miles and has surpassed the 200k miles without any hiccups. Something you can’t say about Chevy, Dodge or Ford.
Love my 18 Titan SV, I've been complimented on it more than any other vehicle I've owned. Best bang for the buck Truck you can get, best factory warranty too.
Glad you’re having fun here in Mississippi. I love the fact that a Mississippi made truck, is using a Mississippi company for an amazing sound system, fender. Hope y’all enjoy the plant tour, it’s pretty awesome.

Same, got a 2017 Frontier Pro-4X and for the class size it’s an amazing truck. Tows good, gets through mud holes in 2WD that guys in Ram 1500 where getting stuck in. For the price it’s great.
Please leave the titan and frontier reviews to Stephen, he comes off as more knowledgeable and less biased as opposed to the other two fast lane guys who are extremely biased against nissan and they sure love there America trucks but well see how they hold up after 150k miles ;)

Titan xd is a beast gas or diesel !!! Tow with a half ton ... anything over 7000 -11,000 lbs than tow with the xd Titan and it’s night and day .... I feel between daily life , towing & value the Xd is better than any domestic truck !!!! Speaking from experience
It's only recommended premium, but you can run regular. It drops it down to about 393hp. Which makes no difference at all. I've ran both. It is more for marketing the 400hp.

@@stevenmurillo6996 we just bought a 2017 XD pro4x gas last summer for 32k, great truck, so happy with our decision. To answer your question, depends on if you want the new screens or not. The truck is mostly the same (engine, frame, body). Main new things are the gauge cluster, radio and transmission.
Have a 16 CD platinum reserve and I love it, especially after the "upgrade" lol. Really woke the truck up and reduced the throttle lag big time. Really wish they hadn't dropped the Cummins. that's the whole reason I bought it. I wanted a little better towing stability than a half ton without the harsh ride, and the xd delivers. Strange that a diesel with that Aisin transmission is only rated at 12,000lbs because it would easily tow more than that, Nissan just wanted to stay below a certain gross weight. I've towed our food trailer with my xd and an F150 and while the F150 had no trouble pulling it, the XD was more stable and you really dont feel the trailer because it doesnt move the xd around nearly as much, but that's because the xd is alot heavier and has a longer wheelbase.
@@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix Yep, if you treat the Xd like a 1500, it'll do everything a 1500 does easier and better as well as for a lot longer. Plus, anyone pulling 13.500 pounds in a 1/2 ton f150 is effing nuts. I've gotten close to that once and if the wind even sniffled a bit you'd shit your pants.
@@kane6106 exactly! And that was the point of this truck and why I bought it. I do know without a doubt that its capable of safely hauling and towing more than its rated for. Nissan admits it can do more but they wanted to be below a certain gross at. Its built on the NV3500 3/4 ton Van's frame, has the same Aisin transmission as the ram 3500. But what it doesnt have is the 8 lug floating axles of the NV3500. I'm willing to they you could swap that and put a larger diesel and have a 3/4 ton. But I love mine. I've towed the same trailer with an F150 and my xd and theres no comparison when ut comes to stopping and stability on the highway.
@@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix Yep. If you search around you'll see that the 5.0 can, with just a tune, go to 400hp and over 750tq with no issues. I'd say you'd need to upgrade the front and rear suspension to be a true 3/4 ton, but yeah it could certainly be done.
I like the updates personally, wish the outside shape was a little more squared. But I love the color with all the different black accents. I’m also liking the idea of a HD gas 1500 class truck. For someone like me that only tows or hauls bigger things from time to time. I’ll definitely give them a look in the future. Maybe a company truck.
Nissan may not have the greatest reputation ever, especially not in the american market... but i gotta give it to em.. this is a very honest looking truck and incredibly sexy too, and I have dirt bikes and I cant believe how practical and useful that rail system would be for me. I mean it's pretty much head to head with the other competitors if you look at it objectively without brand loyalty or biased. Makes me wonder if people don't like it because of the branding, or because its actually a shitty product... regardless I'll definitely be keeping my eyes out this year for that sexy lookin pro4x. Congrats on a 100k! Looking forward to more pro4x coverage from you guys!
Nissan trucks are great and reliable. Also very capable offroaders. I have owned a titan and an xterra and the motors and transmissions have been flawless. I think its the CVT transmissions (that AREN'T in their trucks), is what gave them a bad reputation.
I've had an 05, 17. Loved them both. Amazing, strong truck... and when I graduate late this year, I'll be going into my local Nissan dealership and buying yet another Titan...
Long time subscriber, not exactly a fan of the titan. But I am currently in Jackson, MS, and as being from this area super pumped that you’re here! Hope you enjoyed!
I had a 2012 Titan Pro 4X and now have a 2017 Titan XD Platinum 5.0 Cummins TD. For 2020, I'm sorry to see the Cummins go away. It is tractable, with plenty of torque to tow my fifth wheel. We did add air bags. Towing 300 miles at highway speeds, we got 9.6 mpg. It felt like a rocket ship going across the Mojave Desert. If you find one lightly used, buy it.
James McGillis better than Ford F-250 and 350 with issues and Chevy and gmc Nissan Titan good trucks with good warranty but not look after because of brands like ford and Chevy only better than this a Toyota Tundra
Wanna see a Titan vs Tundra video. LOVE the exhaust note on this truck! Also, the fact it has a dedicated camera button like my Pathfinder which comes in handy a lot especially pulling into tight spots. I wish it had Ford's step tailgate and Dodge's bed pockets. I really like the front and taillights but I have to see it in action at night to see how they look. I love a vehicle with great looking taillights/LED headlights!
All Titan needs is an aux transmission cooler to beat out the new Tundra, they (toyota) removed their aux transcoolers from the tow package, on Tundra causing trans warning light to come on for overheating while towing rv trailers.
I have a 21 Ford F150 powerboost, which is a great truck, but have been eyeing these lately because the camper I have only gives me ~290lbs of extra payload capacity to play with. I don't think publishers like Car and Driver give these trucks a fair shake. They blast the XD for having less payload as the light duties like the F150 or Silverado 1500s. They are comparing apples to oranges. I didn't think much of the payload when I bought my F150, but with my pano sunroof, FX4 package, and other luxuries, my real max payload is only 1480, but Ford advertises somethin like a max payload of 2100 or something, but that is only if you get a 4x2, long bed, short cab. With all the luxuries of ventilated and heated seats, pano sunroof, etc., the XD Pro 4x is something like 1990 max payload, which is about 500lbs more payload, and more payload than a Ram 2500 Powerwagon. Why not compare the numbers for similar amenities? I looked at F250s and F350s, but they cost an arm and a leg. Bare bones XL used similar year goes for 54-56k these days, and add anything like heated seats, Sync4, and front cameras, suddenly youre at +65k for a used truck. A +2020 used Titan XD Pro 4x goes for 44-50k, fully loaded. That is value.
When my truck got hit I was given an off the lot 2016 XD pro 4x as a courtesy vehicle (only truck with an 8’ bed they had). Drove it for six months while my truck was being repaired and I hated it. My truck in the shop was a 1999 f250 7.3L and even being 17 years older and on a cheap 6” lift it towed better than the titan. Yes my ford is a true 3/4 ton and the Nissan is essentially a beefed up 1/2ton but I feel like 17 years of technology should make up for that. Not to mention the low hanging tow hooks made it impossible to get through road deactivations that my buddy was able to clear with his stock f150.
Dude that 99 f250 7.3 diesel is a different animal. You're comparing apples to oranges here. First off that 7.3 is a towing tank and secondly everything about your truck is just heavier so of course it's gonna tow way better
Traded my garbage 2018 10 speed ford with 20k miles already slipping (ford claimed was normal) for my much nicer much smoother better warrantied nissan titan pro4x
Still can find 2019 Diesels around new, with some good price cuts, the tow rating is actually perfect for me. I'm not going to tow anything more than 12000 pounds at least at the same time, in my 50000 dollar truck lol, tractor, here or there
The Cummins is quite refined... V-8, DOHC, compacted graphite block, sequential turbos. It just cost too much for Nissan to make any money, so they went back to the gasser (which is tried and true).
Diesel emissions are just too regulated now, creating too many problems. There is 12,000 worth of emisions equip on a diesel truck now. Too many opportunities for a CEL light and needing to be towed to the dealer. duh.
Stay consistent with the hard work you've been putting into the channel, Keep on bringing the latest new vehicle info, and as always we appreciate the off road oriented videos! #roadto200k
I've heard of this truck about 6 years ago now, followed all the updates, fell in love with the Cummins diesel engine, I'm not gonna say this is a bad engine and I still would change my cute old 2005 X-Trail for this
Trd pro exhaust is the best, tfl already did that comparison. But it’s pretty dam good. Pissed you have to use high octane for the higher power numbers. Will have to wait to let the bugs get out especially with that new transmission
I love my 2012 PRO 4X. I put the NISMO exhaust and intake on it. I also had a 2009 base- no power accessories and crank windows- put stainless Flow masters on it. Sounded awesome! I preferred the exhaust going out the back(FlowMaster vs the side NISMO). I didn't like scarring people when I passed them! I used to live in Summit County, CO for 20yrs, and worked at Loveland Ski Area, so I love the IKE TESTS you do. I live in Durango now. I tow a 2009 19ft Airstream, that I originally towed with a 2001 Acura MDX, purchased at Flat Irons Acura.. HAHA! Dealer said I could tow 5000lbs. NOT! Tranny blew on the way to RockyGrass in Lyons summer 2009. So I bought my first TITAN. I enjoyed the ride VS competitors. I enjoy driving, performance and sound. My Husband says next time we get a new truck, please don't upgrade the exhuast! Hey I ride a Harley! Loud is great. I love watching your reviews of ALL vehichles. I can see in Andre's expressions when he is happy with a vehicles performance. I think I'll wait for the 2021 Frontier. Down size and hope it will tow my 5500lb trailer. Thanks for your honest reviews.
Congrats on 100k subscribers. I personally think you are the best of the TFL channels. Definitely like the reviews and the comparison video your group did on the half ton trucks last year. Wouldn’t mind seeing you branch off into some off road equipment and tire reviews and comparisons as well.
Everyone is crying about the diesel yet they wouldn’t buy this truck anyway. You want an HD Titan, they will make it if this one sells, want a Titan with a diesel? They will make it if this one sells, give it a chance, tell your friends and family in the truck market to take a look at the Titan, you have a brand making an honest truck that people want but by not supporting them for doing so, you’re sending the wrong message. If the 2020 Titan sells very well, you’ll see a range of options come in, they just need to see that people want this truck before they dump money into building the warrior and dually Titans
They are not a big seller in New York. I see what are the traditional big sellers. Ford and Chevy. Anyone I ever know who bought the Titan complained about severe rot issues.
Love my xd. The Cummins is the reason I bought it. Didnt like the small 3.0 diesels in the half tons. Towing stability of a 3/4 ton without the rough ride, and it's way easier to service and work on than the v8 diesels Ford and GM have. You can easily get to everything so when that warrant is up the labor wont make you take put a second mortgage. I mean you have tons of room to change the belt, water pump and alternator are right there unobstructed. You can reach behind the intake and touch the transmission, bell housing and bolts. The injectors and fuel rails are right there. You could literally change injectors without taking anything apart at all. The engine isnt shoved back against the firewall with the radiator smashed up against the front. Looks almost like the engine bay of an old square body Chevy. Hate they got rid of it because I was really looking forward to another XD. Hopefully they'll develop another diesel or upgrade the Cummins and offer it again soon.
I love the idea of the Titan XD as a 5/8 ton truck but at the higher trim level I'm looking at now I find the XD's payload increase is negligible compared to my 2011 F150 XLT with 1777 Lbs payload. Enjoying your videos from a few hundred kms north of your new hangout.
I’d rather take the best truck than the worse... but that’s just me. The ford is by far the best I’m the ecoboost tows like a diesel almost. Like there’s nothing there
F150 sells 900k trucks where Nissan can't even get 32k in sales. There's a clear reason why the titan isn't as good as an f150 and the sales numbers have been proving it for over 40 years in the states and over 50 years in Canada. Toyota is a sales leader because they make great products. Same with Ford trucks. Also Nissan has been struggling to stay afloat since the 90's. That's because their vehicles are poorly made
Nissan trucks have always proven the strength, durability, and Ingenuity. Always changing the game with things when they design trucks too...ie dampered tailgate, utili-trac, first mid sized pickup etc. Very underrated truck! Also, of you've ever owned a Nissan/Infiniti, car or truck, you can attest to their engines being some of the best in the business. With the big three, the trucks may be strong ,but their cars are weak. Nissan is always consistent across the board. That all being said , with a 5 year / 100k bumper to bumper and a standard 400hp V8!
This was a great place to do a truck review. Something about that particular type of gravel and the way the truck looks on it. And the recreational feel of the surroundings. Makes me want to buy a truck.
@@hollywood21639 the 9 speed trans is so much better for everyday driving and towing. When ram went from a 6 speed to an 8 speed it felt like an extra 80 HP and the same is true for this truck. The old 7 speed had too wide of a gear spread and caused the trans to hunt between gears when towing
@@Kmecha84 That's cool. I drove a new F-150 about a year ago with the 10 speed and absolutely hated it. It just keeps shifting all the time with every little change in speed, incredibly annoying.

I'm sold and thank you. I'm looking at this truck to buy but seen so many negative reviews but I will go for it. Some of them are really stupid. For example one review I read said that it's 0 to 60 rating is a full half second slower than a RAM. Really? Yes there are some more refinements in the competitors fare but no one mentions the extra $20,000 you have to pay for an extra bell and whistle. Great video by the way.
The only current interior that might be better is Ram. Great riding truck...now all we need is for Nissan to release it for sale! It's almost February, where's the 2020?!
Truck looks killer, yet the requirement for premium fuel for premium performance is a deal killer for me. Here in Chicago premium is pushing $5 a gallon.
What was the gears and why is the Fifthwheel plug in on the right side it should be on the left . Would of been nice to have gotten the MPG rating as well . And I'm curious about a regular cab and 8' bed because I have no use for a 4 door pickup . I'm looking for a 8' bed to haul loads with and tow trailers .
@Joe Schmoe I didn't want the 5.0 Cummins to begin with . The Diesel engines are no longer economical . People should do the math on the diesel engines before they buy them
You asked, so here it is. I'd like to see real world ground clearance testing (example colorado zr2 rear shock mount and pumpkin reduce clearance a lot. I'd like to see terrain mode testing, start in auto until flaw revealed then test other modes. The average joe cannot test that on his test drive. I'd like to see your test course see in some videos get bigger, articulation test , ledge drop off, ledge climb, breakover, full compression tire clearance (how much bigger can I go before I need a Lift). There is a lot the general public cannot test off road before they buy.

I love my 2018 nissan titan xd with the Cummins. I get 21 to 24 miles per gallon. When I tow my camper, it pulls great. No issues what so ever. I will not give it up for a gas engine.
I like my 16' Titan XD gasser. It did great towing my wife's car from TX to MD with 3 dogs in the cab. My only complaints are MPG and turning radius. I hope Nissan brings back the diesel, but as a full sized 6.7L Cummins with a dually option.
3rd Nissan Frontier in a row w/ 2020 Pro 4x. I love the new 9-Speed 3.8 V6 w/ 310HP plenty of power for a midsize. Some day when the Mortgage is paid off I will have the Titan but it may have to be a 2031 Titan! At that point it may have an anti-gravitational engine LOL!
I think this is a step in the right direction for NISSAN! Great looking truck! (wish GM would take notes) I only hope their transmission issues don’t follow into this model! Also concerned with the body rust issues. What does one of these look like after about six or seven years?
Just sold my 04 sl 4x4 with 335k miles on it for $3,500. Absolutely incredible vehicle .15 years of hunting and fishing trips, towing 20 foot boat and 23 foot travel trailer, plus commuting everyday. Sad to sell it but had to make room for the 2019 pro4X. I'm in love all over again.
I didnt think I would like that color but with all the blacked out badges it looks really good. It also sounds nice even with the stock exhaust. nice video.
The steering wheel angle readout is cool. It would be useful when doing a wheel alignment. Turn key on and lock steering wheel at zero degrees and then set tow to spec on the alignment machine. Normally I'd have to plug a scanner in and look at the steering wheel angle sensor PID but it's a cool little feature
My 2019 titan has issues that Nissan claims they cant fix.. but wont do anything about it and it all has to do with the ECM mostly. Coasting from 40-36 it transbrakes and revs up about 1500, and also revs up and lunges forward if braking from 40 and below. The revs are all over the place with it shuttering when changing gears but not if tow mode is on.. the front detectors go off randomly when braking. When driving theres times going uphill its downshifts into 5th gear going 35mph I'm under 1grand on the tachometer and have no power (again only in non tow). Nissan told me to take it to another dealership and see of they can fix it, as they have no fixes for it (Nissan representatives words) and closed my claim. My gas tank also has no breather tube or a clogged one as from day 1 the tank whistles when I fill up and can be off as much as 4 gallons at a time.. 500mile range one fill up, 420 the next that's to full (you can hear it really well by the change in tone of the whistle! It's a FEATURE!!!!!)

5:45 that 5.6 still sounds amazing. The Titan has always sounded like it has a cat back. I'll never forget when my dad bought his 05 titan, the salesman started it up and we both looked at each other like, "whoa?!" 😃
Very true even my 4.0 in my 14 Xterra sounds good from the factory and ppl ask if I have an exhaust.

Travelin' Ted Titan!
This makes me want to upgrade my Titan.

They're very underrated trucks.
Good luck...enjoy.
Have a 2018 Xd SL with the cummins. Excellent truck. Highly highly underrated truck.
@@kane6106 definitely. I have the shift on the fly 0-120hp on mine. Night and day difference, even at the 0hp tune

Still have my 2005 Titan and still love it. Only 114k miles. Was just looking at the XD and loved it too. Maybe one day!
I have a 2019 platinum reserve with the Cummings Best Truck that I ever have .the Best
@@davidcox2197 TFL did a towing test for the transmission up a hill. And debunked that problem. It was bad ass
Really love the Titan, almost bought a 2019. Wish they would have kept the diesel, but just refined it.
The only reason the diesel failed is it tow max 12600 needed to be should have been 14000
Still can find 2019 Diesels around new, with some good price cuts, the tow rating is actually perfect for me.
#roadto200k
i have a 2019.. with the exception of the bigger radio.... my interior is the same.

Have the 5.0 Cummins in my fleet. Great truck. Does everything that is asked of it. It is a shame they killed it.
@@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix I feel you man, I agree 100%
I love the idea of the Titan XD as a 5/8 ton truck but at the higher trim level I'm looking at now I find the XD's payload increase is negligible compared to my 2011 F150 XLT with 1777 Lbs payload.

That 9 speed and all the other updates should edge this ahead of the Tundra. And yes it sounds pretty good.

I’d rather take the best truck than the worse... but that’s just me. The ford is by far the best I’m the ecoboost tows like a diesel almost. Like there’s nothing there
I thought the same thing, until I drove a new F150. F-150s are lighter, more powerful, and much better Interiors
That's because their vehicles are poorly made
Nathan Salyers like they say, opinions are like assholes.... Nissan doesn’t depend on their full-size trucks to stay afloat. Ford does 🤷🏽♂️
Watching you from Honduras! (Central America)

I have a 15 pro-4x and am really happy with it. Only thing it really needs is a 6 speed transmission.

Hey! Longtime subscriber here. I LOVE WHEN YOU OFF-ROAD THESE BEASTS the pit is fun to watch and other stuff like that!!!!
Truck looks killer, yet the requirement for premium fuel for premium performance is a deal killer for me. Here in Chicago premium is pushing $5 a gallon.
Don’t de rock me riz You can use regular but you “only” get 394hp on that rating of fuel.
Only .3" more ground clearance than the QX50??? What happened to the 5L Cummins?? What a beauty. I love that they're using the VK56 in the M/Q sedans also. Thanks for the vid. 1st time I've seen YOU. Will be back.

Lol
I’m loving the new titan! Great review
Man I would love to trade in my 2016 Nissan Titan XD Cummings diesel for the 2020. Don't know if I can replace my diesel though.
It is not Cummings! It is Cummins.
I think this is a step in the right direction for NISSAN! Great looking truck! (wish GM would take notes) I only hope their transmission issues don’t follow into this model! Also concerned with the body rust issues. What does one of these look like after about six or seven years?
I have the new Titan. It's the most solid feeling half ton around.
Thanks guys - this is the first titan that makes me think about upgrading from my 04...
The new design is awesome. I wish he showed that roof.
I didnt think I would like that color but with all the blacked out badges it looks really good. It also sounds nice even with the stock exhaust. nice video.
Great video, keep up the good work! What's the payload capacity on the XD Pro4x? Thanks!
